A Spot of Friday Afternoon Footie
Happy TGIF, everyone! I finished my work a bit early today, so I'm taking advantage to settle in for a spot of the good stuff. It's Everton v. Spurs this afternoon, which has some real implications for the Europa League spots this season. The best result for Leeds fans who might harbor some dreams of finishing 7th is a draw this afternoon, which would leave Spurs in 7th on 50 points but with a match more played than my beloved Whites. Everton would be 8th on 49 points. Let's have a 3-3 thriller, eh lads! Drop on by for a chat if you're around, won't you?

Afternoon, chaps - both of these sides will still harbor illusions of being able to make the top four but that seems a slim hope at this point. The Europa is probably as much as they hope for at this point.
The team news out of Goodison Park tonight:
Everton: Pickford, Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Digne, Allan, Davies, Rodriguez, Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Richarlison.
Subs: King, Nkounkou, Coleman, Virginia, Olsen, Broadhead, John, Price, Welch.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Dier, Alderweireld, Rodon, Aurier, Ndombele, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Reguilon, Son, Kane.
Subs: Sanchez, Winks, Bale, Lamela, Hart, Lo Celso, Alli, Tanganga, Lucas Moura.
Referee: Michael Oliver (Northumberland).
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti makes three changes to the side that was slightly fortunate to get away with a goalless draw at Brighton. Jordan Pickford returns in goal, replacing Robin Olsen, while Allan and Alex Iwobi take the places of the benched Seamus Coleman and the injured Yerry Mina.
Spurs supremo Jose Mourinho makes two changes to the starting XI named for the ultimately comprehensive home loss to Manchester United. Moussa Sissoko and Toby Alderweireld step up, while Giovani Lo Celso and Lucas Moura drop to the bench.
All the preliminaries are over and we're underway at Goodison. Let's see some goals, lads!
There's a real sense of urgency to this one on paper; let's see if the sides treat it that way. Early free kick for Spurs.
Regulon wellies it straight out of play. Not an auspicious start to this match.
Added interest tonight for the Golden Boot stakes. A goal for Harry Kane would take him onto 20 goals for the season, a goal ahead of Mo Salah.
Spurs have pushed the tempo from the start. But they often do that and then falter in the second half.
This one already smells like a 0-0 draw. Grrr!
Everton are enjoying the lion’s share of possession, though they’re doing very little with it. Spurs seem quite happy to sit back and let them be about their business.
First real shot in anger. Richarlison is found by James and he tries to bend the ball past Lloris. Good save.
GOAL! Harry Kane loves scoring at Goodison Park and he's done it again. The ball fell to him and he had loads of time to allow it to come down and volley it home.
0-1 Spurs!
Harry Kane becomes only the fourth player to reach 20 goals in five seasons. What a record! He's top of the pops in the Golden Boot standings again.
He's also leading in goals and assists. Only two other players have achieved that - Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Andy Cole.
Wahay! Everton have a penalty! Regulon on James Rodriguez!
VAR check is over and it's a penalty alright.
Siggy steps up and voom - straight in.
1-1!
The match has sprung to life all of a sudden - that's much more like it!
Dangerous free kick chance now for Everton. Siggy takes and chips it into the wall. Wall did well there.
The match is heading toward half time now with Everton in a slight ascendancy. Apart from the Kane goal, Spurs have done precisely nothing.
Interesting bit of arcane stuff from Arlo. If Chelsea were to win the CL and Arsenal were to win the EL and both finished outside the top four, the fourth place side - currently West Ham - would not qualify for the CL.
Harry Kane is now joint-seventh all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, alongside Robbie Fowler on 163 goals.
Oh - great ball in from James but Godfrey couldn't keep the effort down.
Half-time score - 0-0. Just where I want it.
Into the second half now - still 0-0. Everton settled into the half quickly, keeping hold of the ball, knocking it hither and yon. Eventually a corner’s won down the left.
Oh - Son worked his way into a great shooting position but Pickers made himself big and saved well.
Richarlison nets for Everton but is flagged offside.
GOAL! Siggy fires Everton into the lead. They've turned this one around!
You won't see a better goal this week. James with a lovely one-two with Seamus Coleman, who had just come on. Great ball in from Coleman and Siggy with a delightful left-footed finish side-footing it into the bet.
2-1!
That's lit a fire under Mourinho now. Lamela and Lucas Moura on now for Regulon and Ndombele.
GOAL! HK again! The man can't be stopped!
Almost a carbon copy of his first goal. Cross in from Lamela, the defenders made a mess of it and it dropped to Kane who volleyed home.
Desmond!
Spurs don't really deserve to be level here but I'll take it. Right where I want it.
Oh - Kane only inches away from his hat-trick! It grazed the outside of the post. Wow!
Kane is now the outright seventh highest scoring Premier League player, inching ahead of Robbie Keane today.
Fifteen minutes left in this one. Let's hope no one gets any big ideas about breaking the deadlock.
Oh - what a chance there for Josh King! Great save by Lloris for him and then Richarlison blasted the follow-up over the bar.
Just five more minutes to see this one out now.
Nice! That's full-time. 2-2. So both sides can kiss the Champions League goodbye. Surely that's curtains for Kane at Shite Fart Lane. He must move to get Champions League footie and a chance to win something.
That's it for me today. Cheerio, boys!
