Hurrah - It's Saturday Again!
Morning, boys - welcome to Week 2 of this season's Premier League action. Again, we've got a load of interesting matches. It all gets started early doors with Villa v. Everton. Both sides had opening day losses, so something's got to give in this early relegation battle. That's followed by the 10am fixtures, including Erling Haaland and City up against recently promoted Bournemouth on USA and my beloved Leeds away to Southampton on The Cock. We then wrap things up with United v. Brentford on NBC at 12:30pm.
Looking forward to a good footie natter with you. Cheers!

I'm just settling in for the early one. Here are the teams:
Aston Villa: Martinez, Cash, Diego Carlos, Mings, Digne, Ramsey, Kamara, McGinn, Watkins, Ings, Coutinho.
Subs: Konsa, Douglas Luiz, Buendia, Chambers, Augustinsson, Young, Olsen, Bailey, Archer.
Everton: Pickford, Patterson, Holgate, Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko, McNeil, Doucoure, Iwobi, Gray, Gordon.
Subs: Keane, Onana, Begovic, Alli, Coleman, Davies, Ruben Vinagre, Rondon, Mills.
Referee: Michael Oliver.
It's crazy to see Conor Coady in an Everton kit. I never thought that Wolves would sell him - he was their captain!
Everton have done a good job of silencing a previously bouncing Villa Park. To be fair, it’s probably way too hot for singing and dancing. Everyone wisely conserving their energy.
Morning Bob
Slept in and then shaved and showered
I'll be here when I can. Busy doing stuff...not as busy as you!
Oh - Dwight McNeil had a chance to play Demarai Gray in but overhit the ball. Big chance there.
Ball in the net.... but the flag is up
Must have been offside?
He's off
Morning, Dave - I'm just here until the first bottle of the morning. The twins are having a snuggle with Kate right now.
Everton wearing yellow today! Another one of my problems with the modern game... Villa and Everton never clashed kits in the 80s! Are eyes worse these days!!
United's home kit....red
United's second kit...white
Brentford's kit....red and white
So...United have to wear PUKE green today!
VAR finally makes the decision....it was off!
Oh - Anthony Gordon thought he had scored there but VAR thinks not. Chalked off for offside, to the applause of the Villa home crowd.
Second annoyance....drinks break but the clock is still going...it won't be added
I figured you'd be busy soon
Time for some drinkies on a hot day.
That is irritating - why not stop the clock?
Good Morning, Bob and Dave. Just woke up. Hot in the England , but an unusually pleasant and cool morning here
Looks like I didn't miss much.
Morning David
Are yo guys going to watch the Wrexham show starting this week? Have you watched Arsenal?
I will be watching and haven't seen any Arsenal yet
This one smells like a draw to me.
GOAL
Villa take the lead
Ings does well with a poor pass
Morning, David - you're just here in time to see Danny Ings smash home Villa's opener!
GOAL ! NICE FINISH FROM, DANNY INGS
Good Morning Bob and Dave. I would like to watch the Wrexham show. Haven't watched the Arsenal show. Thanks for the reminder as I had forgot about those shows
I'm looking forward to the Wrexham show. It looks really good!
Everton lose another player during at match
That is three down in less than a game and a half
Can you believe what a joke United are with trying to buy anyone?
They seem to be clueless
Who are United still in for - DeJong? Arnautovic?
Nice tackle won at the back form Villa then a nice long diagonal wide right to Olly Watkins to Danny Ings who turned Doucoure for a great finish
Not exactly the most committed defending from the Toffees for the goal Lamps won't be pleased
Not sure who United are looking for. I wouldn't be surprised if they're not looking for anyone
Just read the comment about Connor Coady signing for the Toffees. That's surprising top see him leaving Wolves, but a good signing for the Toffees. He's what they need. I'm surprised as he started his career for the Reds
HE did walk straight into the starting lineup. He should have a few choice words for the defending on the goal
Tom Davies booked for bringing down Olly Watkins on the break
They still want DJ but he doesn't want to come
Arna isn't coming
Looking at other middies....it looks like they have no plan whatsoever
I heard an interview with him...he sounded thrilled
He is from Liverpool...as David said...I think he's a Pool fan but he'll fit in with his Scouse accent
Did you all see that the Hornets defeated Burnley 1-0 in the promotion six pointer yesterday? Clever Boy with the goal
AN LOB blogging trio of stoppage time min utes
I was surprised too see him signing for there Toffees being a lifelong Pool fan
VAR looking at a foul...not given
Cardiff one up vs Brum and up to third place. Both Brum clubs in action early on
Nice Villa Move and Nice pass from Jacob Ramsey just too far in front of Coutinho and Stevie G one up vs Lamps at the half
Vila go close at the end of half
Only three minutes added....is that including the drinks break, VAR checks, goal scored
NO ONE IS QUESTIONING THE TIME
Why would NBC show City Bournemouth....it is going to be a boring rout!
Feeding the twins their brekkies now - back in a tick.
The second half is underway from Villa Park
Long range shot from John McGinn over on the half volley after poor defending from the Toffees on a Villa free kick
The late match will ben the first of the season on the local NBC, Bees vs United . Will that be a boring rout? Will United be stung?
I do predict that the Cherries will the out of the top five after their match at the Etihad. Citeh could be top
Luca booked for Digne in on Patterson, but it looked a fair tackle on his former teammate. No wonder why he was shouting from the second floor
I think M&M may be Villa fans because they Digne in on the food that Bob fed them
Nice Villa break and Watkins giving them problems again. How was that different from the challenge where Digne was booked. Where's the consistency?
Bristol Rovers one up vs Oxford. Second in L1 and looking for consecutive promotions. Looking to be in the Championship for the first time in thirty years
Decent Toffees shot and decent save by Martinez. Was powerful but straight at him. First Toffees shot on target from Damari Gray
Coutinho down . That would be a huge loss for Villa
Buendia getting directions from Villa assistant , Austin McPhee.
He's on for the injured Coutinho
Back from an errand
The announcer said Connor Coady is down after blocking a Villa shot with a headache. That actually appears to be the case
Coady is on loan? Very weird
Welcome back, Dave. You missed a few chances, but other than that not very much
That's an odd one. He wan ever present with Wolves. A bust up with Bruno Lager? Not happy with his contract? I can't think of other reasons
An attacking move from Lamps as Solly has ruined on for Dwight McNeil
I just checked. Connor Coady was on the subs bench for the loss at ER last weekend . It appears that young Ireland international, Nathan Collins, just signed from, Burnley replaced him in the starting lineup for Wolves. Now the move makes more sense
Nice cut by Ings...Watkins needs to dart in front of the defender at the near post!
I'm back after feeding and a couple of diaper changes. Macy had what I like to call "the swamp butt." How's your morning going?
Drinks break!
Drinks break
Started before the 69 minute mark
How long will the stop?
Will it be added?
Time for drinkies. YIKES it's in the 80s and still early in the afternoon. Makes sense. That's more like our normal weather.
I don't think coaching should be allowed.
Grab a bottle, drink, back to the game
Welcome back Bob. Sounds like the Toffees performance
It will be two minutes
So will the half have 7 minutes added? The norm now is five
Agreed, Dave. It's not an NBA/ NFL style timeout. Just a quick drink then get back on.
Lovely description... did it look like United's shirts for this afternoon?
Play resumes. It appeared to be about two minutes.
Agreed, Dave. I think it will be about your lucky seven stoppage time minutes
Cheers, Dave. Thought you might agree
Kate's commentary effort from earlier when I was changing a diaper in the other room:
"Somebody was trying to score a goal and he kicked it and the ball hit someone in the head and he fell down. It was actually pretty funny."
I don't think Peter Drury has anything to worry about.
Nice block by Nathan Patterson of a rocket of a shot from Diego Carlos off a Villa corner
Possibly - the new Leeds away kit is atrocious as well. A bit like the notorious Arsenal away kit from the 80s.
OH! shot from Buendia cleared off the line from Mickey Lenko
Villa with some chances... Toffees survive
I still think the crossing is shut your eyes and hammer it
Nice description from Kate of that blocked shot that temporarily injured Connor Coady. Commentator, Sub Hutchinson, said Coady had a headache
Here's somme commentating. Toffees performance flatter than a pancake and even flatter than Florida. Your thoughts?
Immay vneed to leave the match a little early. Trooper needs wlakies then I need to get Elizabeth some Tylenol.
Leon Bailey, who really didn't set the Prem on fire last season, on for Danny In gs in a like four like switch. More kn own for his pace than Ings, but in the same position
And Macy has spit up on my lucky Leeds shirt. Yellow card offense.
Agreed, David - Everton have less fizz than a two liter bottle of Coke left out in the sun all day with the cap off.
Olly Watkins with a shot blocked by Mason Holgate for a Villa corner
Atrocious corner
Macy to get the first red card of the season for a silly offense?
Nice one , Bob. Toffees performance more piss than a can of PBR?
Lamps is going to the bench and Delle Alli - what's the point of that?
Very much a yellow card offense...and a yellow shirt!
Matt spit up in my mouth once!
LOL! Nice one, Matt!
Another attacking switch from Lamps as Delle Alli sandwiched on for Connor Coady
Delle Ali coming on... what a drop from WC semi to coming on with ten minutes left in a rubbish team
New singing , Onana , on for Damari Gray
A lot of PPPers picked Lamps for the earliest sacking - looks like a good bet right now.
Delle's career has nosedived. I think it's his mental issues
Two Villa men down...they are both fine I bet.
Hard to say, Bob. I wonder f Ralf is a possibility. I don't think anyone picked him
Agreed - when he first moved from Spurs, I thought, "good move for him. He's not going to edge either Kane or Son out of the way." But I thought he'd start for the Toffees!
I might have picked Lamps for vote of confidence
You're right - people picked Ralf as one of the managers to have a touch-line scrap but not to be sacked.
You might well get points for that one.
Just checked. Bob's Gainesville mate picked Ralf. I did pick Lamos for vote of confidence. Not getting it from Bob and Dave
GOAL! Villa break and Watkins and Buendia combine to score!
2-0!
Two nil
Two good acronyms for this season
LLL
FFF
Love Lamps Losing
Frank For Failure
Either one works for me
GOAL ! BUENDIA PUTS VILLA TWO UP.SLOIPPY LIKE THE FIRST GOAL SLOPPY DEFENDING AND L;ACK OF COMMITMENT IN THE TACKLE THEN NICE ONE TWO BETWEEN WATKINS AND BUENDIA FOR AN EASY TAP IN
LOL. Great campaign poster , Dave
GOAL! Lucas Digne presses the self-destruct button and Everton are back in it.
GOAL ! TOFFEES POUYLL ONE BACK IMMEDIATELY . OG BY FORMER TOFFEE DIGNE OFF A POASS FROM NEW SIGNING ONANA
Woke up in time to see Buendia hammer another nail into Fwank's coffin.
As they were showing the replay A long digonal did eleft was headed down and instant impact from Onana as hewn past two Villa players then went down the by line and his pass was diverted ion off the heel of Dogne pressured by Iwobi
Good Morning Steve. How is your start to the day. Did you get the cool front we did?
How much stoppage time?
How much longer can Pickers stay at Goodison and hold his place as England's #1? A one man fire brigade.
A quintet of those minutes. None extra for drinkies
Nice double save from Martinez
Yeah, it's lovely here today.
Agreed, Steve. Based on form Ramsdale should start for the Three lions. My birthed and I were discussing that and agreed on Ramsdale. Due to the shortage of English keepers he will still make the England squad
Toffees were bottom when two down, now out of the drop zone on goal scored
Stoppage time subs to ruin Dave's day. Ezri Konsa on for Jacob Ramsey. More subs to come?
Diego Carlos still down for Villa
Rash for Matty Cash, but it may be a credit, not a debit.
rare glimpse of Callum Chambers coming up.
Cally Chambers on for Diego Carlos
I am back from the loo as I see Everton scored
FIVE added minutes!
Two was a drinks break.... had injuries
NO CONSISTENCY...and now one says anything
Now there may be the lucky seven stoppage time minutes
Struth....Everton almost in!
How did that not go in?!
Corner collected
OH! Onana could have tied it up. Misjudged by Martinez then blocked for a corner
Great block by Chambers
Hiya Steve
Missed you joining
Struth...Everton could have scored three in stoppage time!
Cally Chambers blocks from Flash Gordon then Flash straight to Martinez. Well done ex Gunners
Morning, Steve - the twins send their love. They're missing their Uncle Stevie!
EiYash booked for time wasting at a throw
Now they have played 8
Why post 5
Something has to be done!!
Remembering the flack United took when Bruce scored in the 96th minute in 93.... that was when the ref had to be replaced by the linesman!
Uncle Stevie wants to see them soon, Bob.
I have no idea how much stoppage time there is now
That's it
Villa get their first win of the season
It's over and Villa hang on to win 2-1
That's it - Villa pick up their first win of the season, while Everton sink to two losses and will no doubt be in the dropzone.
Well...their two Uncle D's want to see them soon too!
Off to take Trooper walkies.
This was the weekend that we should have been all together
Howard is so bad in the studio
He doesn't answer questions and just babbles on
As I said, so many better matches to show other than City vs Bourn
Next up - the USA crew are setting up for Citeh v. Bournemouth but of course my mind will be on Soton v. Leeds and Gooner will be focused on their first home match vs. Leicester.
Got 5Live....all this joking and laughing drives me nuts
NBC have their own interviews this season
Everyone in the media is saying that Ralf H is in major trouble at St Mary's. Why now? They lost to a strong Spurs team.
Unchanged starting XI for Jesse Marsch today: Meslier, Kristensen, Llorente, Koch, Struijk, Adams, Roca, Harrison, Aaronson, Bamford.
Ive tuned in Goal Rush but I am going to change.
The base match is at the Etihad
They shouldn't have the same match as the one their showing on the telly
I've turned in St Mary's
Non Southampton looking red and white stripes
Sort of what they wore when Keegan joined...didn't they finish second around then
Leeds looking like they ran in front of someone throwing yellow and blue paint
I guess at least the colors are right
5Live still cracking jokes....be professional
I will here the goals before I see most of them
I will day my comments
5Live at the Emirates
City inches from taking the lead from Atke header
Cricket score upcoming?
Back from whammies with trooper and Nathan Ake heads just wide from a corner against his former mates
is the first scorer in the pool still up for grabs?
Come on, you Leeds!
Cardiff defeated Brum 1-0 as did Bristol Rovers vs Oxford
Yeah - it is. Most picked either an Arsenal or Palace player. So, eyes on the Arsenal match.
Yes first scorer up for grabs. A single point to be won on that pick
Come on Saka!!
Coventry lead vs Millwall
Aaronson limping a bit...seems to have run it off
I agree with you - an abstract expressionist painting is a kind interpretation of the new Leeds away kit.
Most of us picked someone for the Gunners who are hosting the Foxes. Johnno pickled Antonio who will be making a return to the City Ground tomorrow
Really worried about United today...they can't pass to each other when they wear red...now they will be wearing green...same color as the grass...uh oh
First everything still upon for grabs
Already bored with the match at the Ethihad
All you can hear is the away crowd.
Olly Watkins leads the league in assists. Nobody picked him
Mahrez with a shot halfway to Merseyside
That's true - first red card, first hat-trick - the lot.
Tractor Boys have a real lead vs the Fake Dons
Ipswich take the lead at home to MK
Bristol City takes the lead at Wigan. That's not idle gossip
Cardiff won at home to Brum earlier today
Livvy takes the lead vs Hibs.
Wrexham already ahead at Yeovil
Nice block bye Mar Travers from Foden off a pass from KDB . Haaland want it passed to him
Rangers came from 2-0 down after the first leg to win 3-2 on aggregate in the CL Qualifying round
Pass from KDB inches in front of Nathan Ake.
It's Leeds time
Bamford called for a foul....it was nothing!
That was a great comeback. Rangers have a tricky one vs PSV in the final qualifying round
Hand in face....what a big of acting!
Derby take the lead vs Barnsley
Oh - Lord Bamford was in there but penalized for a flailing arm.
I need to turn on the match at ER
Geez.... The Cock is far behind 5Live
Oh - Rodrigo got to the by-line and found Lord Bam. Shot was blocked, but promising signs.
Rotherham on top vs the Reading Railroad
Superb last ditch slide tackle by Llorente on Stu Armstrong. Thought they were through on the break
Oh - Saints tried to break but Llorente came through with a brilliant challenge.
Great saving tackle...he looked worried.. looked at ref right away
It was good
VAR looking tho
VAR checking for denial of a goal; scoring opportunity. Looked fair to me. Why are they taking so lon g to check?
He got the ball
Why is VAR taking so much time!
Check over....never should have taken so much time
Rotherham two up vs the Reading Railroading, steamrolling their way early doors
Bamford....bury that one at the front post!!
