The Best Day of the Season!
Morning, chaps! FA Cup 3rd Round Saturday has long been my favorite day of the season, and we've got some great matches as usual today. It starts with a slate of early matches starting at 7:30am, highlighted by Spurs v. Pompey, a great giant killing opportunity. There are loads of fixtures at the traditional 3pm GMT/10am EST time slot, but the pick of the bunch is probably Premier League strugglers Bournemouth against high flying Championship side Burnley. At 1pm, Championship side Not a Big Club host Newcastle in another intriguing fixture and finally in the late one, Liverpool meet Wolves.
Join me if you're watching, eh?

Just checking in on the Spurs v. Pompey match during my busy morning routine. 0-0 at present at the beginning of the second half.
Harry Kane has fired Spurs into the lead around the hour mark. Nice tidy finish from the England captain.
In the other early matches, Palace and Soton are locked at 1-1.
Leicester are 0-1 up at Gillingham through an Iehanacho goal.
PNE and Hudders are at 1-1.
And Reading are 1-0 up over Watford through a Kevin Abrefa goal right at halftime.
Soton have taken a 1-2 lead over Palace through Adam Armstrong.
Good Morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started.I just woke up.
Here are the latest scores heading into stoppage time:
Palace 1 Saints 2
Foxes one up at the Gils
PNE 3 Terriers 1
Reading Railroad 12 Hornets 0
Spuds 1 Pompey 0 as it was in the 2010 final
Typo: Reading Railroad 1 Hornets 0
Over at SFL 2.0 : Spuds have defeated Pompey 1-0
Reading scored late to defeat the Hornets 2-0. The other three matches finished as I had posted while Forest Green vs the Brummies was postponed.
Spurs have run out 1-0 winners through that sole goal from HK. Typical boring Conte ball.
Morning, David - sorry, I didn't notice you pop on. I was distracted by some fussy twins. Welcome!
Thank you , Bob. Good Morning. Hope M&M are doing well. I didn't expect to sleep in so late.
I might be a tad tardy for the 10 AM matches because I need to take Trooper walkies.
The 10 AM matches don't look too enticing. As you stated perhaps the Cherries vs Burnley. I was thinking of Boreham Wood vs Accrington Stanley too.
Sounds like a plan, mate. Enjoy your walkies. I'm going to have the Bournemouth v. Burnley match on in the background. I'm curious about Vincent Kompany's new look Burnley who are taking the Championship by storm this season.
The Cherries have had some early chances but Manuel Benson has fired Burnley into the lead. Not exactly unexpected as the Clarets have been flying.
Back from walkies. I turned on Chesterfield Ciggies vs the Baggies on the ROKU. It's 1-1. I'll be watching Wood vs Stanley on the IMAC
Stanley one up at Wood
Former Gunneres trainee, Chuba Akpom has tied it up for the Teesiders vs the Seagulls. American, Zak Steffen keeping goal for the in form Teesiders
GOAL THE BAGGIES SMOKE THEIR WAY TO A 1-2 LEAD AT CHESTERFIELD. NICE THROUGH BALL AND KARLAN GRANT GOT BEHIND THE DEFENSE AND WAS A TAD LUCKY AS HIS SHOT WENT IN OFF THE KEEPER WITH JUST THE KEEPER TO BEAT
Tangerines take the lead vs Forest
Welcome back, mate. Just settling in to watch this one while having brekkies.
Ryan Christie leveled matters for the Cherries while I was doing diaper duty.
In an Evil fixture the Evil Blades have taken the lead at the Evil Den
Thanks, mate. I had the LOB brekkie, hope about you? How is the match at Dean's Court?
In L1 Bristol Rovers have come from behind to lead 1-2 at struggling Cambridge . Morecambe and Wise move out of the drop zone to take the lead vs Cheltenham
David Button turns around a close range Chesterfield shot as they tried to make it Desmond
In L2 Salford defeated third place Northants 2-1 to move into the last playoff spot ahead of several teams on goal difference
Adam Lalana has given the Seagulls a 1-2 lead at the Riverside
AT Chesterfield, Bob's mate, Carlos Corberan , in charge of the Baggies while the opposing manager a really burley bloke in short sleeves. I find it hard to believe it's that warm
GOAL ! DESMOND AS ARMANDO DOBRA TIES IT UP FOR CHESTERFIELD VS THE BAGGIES TO MAKE IT DESMOND. Credit to them for not sitting back and attacking this match
Evil Blades go two up at the Evil Den. Cottagers take the lead at the KC
QPR takes the lead at Fleetwood Mac.
Not happy to see that the Blades are 0-2 up over Evil Millwall. They're the other side that are likely to go up from the Championship this season.
Moroccan WC bench warmer, Zaoury, gives Burnley a 1-2 lead at Dean Court
Kurzawa has put Fulham 0-1 up at Hull.
Fleetwood Mac ties it up vs QPR a couple of minutes later
GOAL ! CHESTERFILED SMOKES THEIR WAY TO A 3-2 LEAD VS THE BAGGIES. SUPPORTERS GOING BONKERS
I thought that Zaoury might be flagged for offside but the goal stands and Burnley will likely head into the dressing 1-2 up at half-time.
Quigley was put through and his shot was well saved by David Button then Armando Dobra at the double as he smashed in the rebound in the roof of the net
Zaoury at the double as he gives Burnley a 1-3 lead
You know CXarlos better than the rest of us. Will he be rattling a few teapots at the half?
Tractor Boys take the lead vs Rotherham
I can only imagine - it'll be a huge day for Chesterfield if they can topple WBA.
Chesterfield with a surprise 3-2 lead at the half
That second Zaoury goal was even better than the first. Burnley look really good for their 1-3 lead.
I'm quite enjoying the ESPN+ Goals channel, which is a bit like the Premier League Goalzone on a Saturday. Good chat and all the goals.
An early penalty in the second half for Rotherham brings the sides levle.
Soloanke Scores for the Cherries to pull it back to 2-3
Rotherham ties it up at PR. Northern Ireland international, Connor Washington with a spot kick
Thanks for the tip. I might go to the goals channel on the IMAC , or switch to dean Court.
Too much talking in the studio on the goals show, so I have the match from Dean Court on the IMAC
GOAL! BENSON AT THGE DOUBLE AS BURNLEY NOW LEADS 2-4 AT DEAN COURT
Poor Burnley clearance headed to Ashley Barnes and he did well to pick put Benson , who smashed it in the upper 90 with just the keeper to beat
Carlos with a double change as U.S. international, Darryl Dike on for Aussie, Tom Rogic. Both failed to make their WC squads, Martin Kelly on for Irish international, Dara O'Shea
WC winner, Alexis McAllister ,gives the Seagulls a 1-3 lead at the Riverside
Tangerines go two up vs Forest
A really windy drizzle on the South Coast today
I suppose that Blackpool result would count as a giantkilling right?
Fleetwood Mac has come from behind to take a 2-1 lead vs QPR
There is only one match out of the ten 3pm kick-offs which remains at 0-0, Shrewsbury v Sunderland still stands in a deadlock.
Blimey - Fleetwood Town have taken a shock 2-1 lead over QPR!
I don't count that as a giant killing because I think there has to be at least two divisions difference for a giant killing. Chesterfield vs the Baggies definitely a giant killing
You beat me to it, mate!
That would be the first 0-0 of the round
No probs, mate.
OH! How did the Cherries not score.Header off the line by Ashley Barnes then another header off the inside of the post
Bob, you will be amused to note that your mate, the Spanish ref, that was sent home from the WC, handed out seventeen yellow cards and two red cards in the Barca Derby on NYE. He is suspended for this weekend and will retire at the end of the season. Your thoughts?
Tangerines three up vs Forest
The Tractor Boys back in the lead as they lead 2-1 thanks to a spot kick
As things stand that 0-0 draw is the only tie headed to a replay so far. That is subject to change
GOAL ! BOREHAM WOOD TIE IT UP VS STANLEY. SEVERAL PASSES AFTER A SHORT FREE KICK A NICE CROSS FROM THE LEFT IS MET BY A POWERFUL HEADER FROM NDLOVU . WE HAVE A TIE ON OUR HANDS
Tractor Boys now lead Rotherham 3-1 while WC winner, McAllister at the double, gives the Seagulls a 1-4 lead at the Riverside
Former LUFC loanee, Matty Pennington, gives the Shrews the lad vs the Black Cats. Bob do you remember him?
Tangerines FOUR up vs Forest. Not a giant killing , but a surprise thrashing
Tractor Boys now lead Rotherham 4-1
Seagulls now lead 1-5 at the Riverside
A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time min utes at non league Boreham Wood. Will the non league side be in the Fourth Round draw for the second consecutive season?
Forest score a consolation stoppage time goal at Bloomfield Road. Now trail 4-1
Black Cats tie it up in stoppage time at the Shrews
Boreham Wood vs Stanley finishes 1-1 . There will be a replay in Lancashire in a similar looking stadium with similar conditions
Back from a refreshing shower to see the Black Cats win it late at Shrewsbury.
GOAL! THOMAS ASANTE AT THE DOUBLE AS IT'S 3-3 AS THE BAGGIES TIE IT UP IN STOPPAGE TIOME AT CHESTERFIELD
Brandon Asante involved in an off the ball incident a minute earlier where he should have been sent off an d also had a close range header superbly saved a minute earlier too
Chesterfield will feel hard done by ,. The goal was a crosss off a throw and Asante wide open int the box for the header
Dan James put the Cottagers two up deep in stoppage time and that's what the Cottagers won by on Marco Silva's return to the KC
The Black Cats scored two stoppage time goals to win it 1-2 as they were trailing entering stoppage time to break Shrews hearts
There are two replays, bit involving non league clubs. Accrington Stanley will host Boreham Wood while Chesterfield will have to travel to the Hawthorns as they were nearly through
The 12:30 kickoffs are Bees vs Hammers, Coventry vs Wrexham, Grimsby vs Richard Burton, and Luton vs Wigan. Half an hour later Not a Big Club vs the Toon kicks off.
I've popped on the all-London clash between Brentford and the Hammers while we're feeding the twins their lunch.
I have Coventry vs Wrexham on the telly to see how well Ryan Reynold's high flying side does in a stiff test. Will have the London Derby on the IMAC
Will M&M be having a Prem side for lunch in a giant killing?
GOAL! RYAN REYNOLDS'S LADS TAKE A SHOCK LEAD AT COVENTRY. IT STARTED WITH A LONG CLEARANCE FROM COVENTRY KEEPER, SIMON MOORE. SEVERAL PASSES LATER A LONG DIAGONAL WAS PLAYED WIDE RIGHT AND A NICE CROSS FROM THE RIGHT BACK WAS SUPERBLY HEADED IN BY DALBY
This feels like a Championship match - not impressive.
GOAL ! ELLIOTT LEE PUTS WREXHAM TWO UP. WE HAVE A GIANT KILLING ON OUR HANDS . THIS TIME FROM THE LEFT AS HE MEANT TO CROSS IT AND IT MISSED EVERYONE, FOLLED SIMON MOORE IN THE COVENTRY GOAL AND WENT IN .
Welcome back. You should watch Coventry vs Wrexham. It's quite a match
Possibly - if Apple Sauce Rangers are playing.
Ryan Reynolds must be on cloud nine. Manager, Phil Parkinson, not showing any emotion, but must be elated
LOL! Either way it's quite a match
Wigan takes the lead at Luton
Oon the IMAC , I'm going to switch to the match at Hillsborough at 1.
Coventry had hit the post off a free kick earned on the break. If that had gone in it would hav e been 1-1. Oh well.
GOAL! COVENTRY PULLS IT BACK TO 1-2. SHEAF WITH HIS FIORST GOAL OF THE SEASON. BALL PLAYED IN THE BOX TO FORMER TRACTYOR BOY, WAGHORN,THEN LAID BACK THEN SHEAF SHOT UNDER MARK HOWARD
Lucky seven stoppage time minutes. Where's the outrage? Why doesn't anyone ever complain?
Luton ties it up vs Wigan in first half stoppage time
GOAL ! WREXHAM RESTORE THEIR TWO GOAL LEAD DEEP IN FIRST HALF STOPPAGE TIME TO MAKE IT 1-3
Mark Robbins will be absolutely livid as Coventry were a goal down and dominating. It came off a Wrexham long throw and Ryan Reynolds's lads won FOUR HEADERS before O'Connor headed in the corner. It's 1-3 at the half to Wrexham and Mark Robbins , who was part of the MUFC Academy when SAF was manager, will be showing the Coventry players what SAF taught him about the hairdryer treatment.
PENALTY WREXHAM! Again , Coventry failing too deal with a long throw and Jonathan Panzo sent off for intentional hand ball. Should have been a booking as a penalty is not denial of a goal scoring opportunity. Goes from bad to worse for Coventry
GOAL! PAUL MULLIN SENDS SIMON MOORE THE WRONG WAY FROM THE SPOT TO GIVE WREXHAM A SHOCK 1-4 LEAD
That's fantastic for Wrexham. I haven't yet watched the "Welcome to Wrexham," but I'm looking forward to it.
The London Derby is heading toward an inevitable 0-0 draw. It's been a dreary affair, only rivaled by the drab West London weather today.
GOAL! TEN MAN COVENTRY PULL IT BACK TO 2-4 AS TOP SCORER, GYOKERES, OFF THE BENCH PULLS IOT BACK TOP 2-4 WITH A GREAST FINISH OFF A PASS FROM KASEY PALMER, WHO HAD THIT THE POST FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS MATCH, A MINUTE EARLIER
Welcome back. You should;d sit switch to Coventry vs Wrexham and turn off that drab one. You will be pleased if you do so
Toon with a reserve side at Hillsborough in an equally drab affair
Former Bee, Ben Rama gives the Hammers the lead at the Bees
Grimsby takes the lead vs Richard Burton
Nice hit by Benrahma puts the Hammers into a lead late in this one. I didn't see that one coming.
GOIAL ! KASEY PALMER CURLS IN A FREE KICK TO PULL IT BACK TO 3-4 FOR TEN MAN COVENTRY
GOAL ! JOSH WINDASS FARTS ON THE TOON BY GIVING NOT A BIG CLUB THE LEAD
Byers played it wide right then a pass into the box was diverted in by Windass from close range as he rebased a foul odor on the Toon
West Ham have held on for a rare win that puts them in the 4th Round draw.
GOAL! WINDASS AT THE DOUBLE TO PUT NOT A BIG CLUB TWO UP
Not exactly Brazilian magic as Guimares and Joe Linton were sloppy off head tennis and Michael Smith put through Josh Windass who finished well past Dubravka
Not sure why you didn't watch the match at Coventry , which I had suggested . You would have been far more entertained.Hopefully the late one is fun to watch
GOAL ! TOON PULL ONE BACK CAMMY DAWSON SAVED A HEADER FROM CHRIS WOOD OFF A CORNER FROM TRIPPIER AND GUIMARES SMASHED IN THE REBOUND
NO VAR in this match as it's not a Prem stadium . Guimares well offside as he put away the rebound
It's over as Wrexham have held on for the shock of the round with a 3-4 win at Coventry, who actually scored the last two goals with ten men
The late one between Liverpool and Wolves is about to start. Teams in the tunnel.
Dutch attacking middie Cody Gakpo makes his Liverpool debut tonight.
A massive howler from Alisson and Wolves are in the lead. He basically just passed it straight to Guedes who said, "Ta very much" as he slotted home.
0-1!
Nice cross from TAA and Charles Darwin Nunez shows what Survival of the Fittest is as he volleys home to tie it up
Desmond singing
EVERYBODY LET'S HWANG CHUNG TONIGHT AS ALISON MAKES ANOTHER HOWLER. NICE PASS BY MATTY CUNHA
David Coote, who gives a hoot. as VAR checking for offside. The goal stands
GOAL ! TOTTI GIVES WOLVES A 2-3 LEAD! NO IT'S DISALLOWED FOR OFFSIDE. I THOUGHT HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN
I sure didn't see it . VAR to check
VAR disallows a perfectly good goal
It finishes Desmond , so there will be a replay at Molineaux in about ten days. That's it for me.
