Qatar 2022 Semi-Final #1
I'll be honest, boys. The England v. France removed the last ounce of interest I had in this World Cup. Once England, the US and Brazil are all knocked out, I usually start to wane in terms of my enthusiasm, but it's worse this year. Argentina v. Croatia? I couldn't really give a toss. But it's on today and I'll have it on in the background while I'm doing some Finals Week grading.

All the pre-match hype is about Messi vs. Modric. A bit tedious.

Good Afternoon, Bob. Thanks for getting us started. I agree 100% . Today is the fourteenth anniversary of my dad's passing. I feel that my FB post about it says it all.
One of those jerks will be in the final and will be praised for being such wonderful footballers and for being perfect role models. They haven't exactly been. Is the game even worth watching anymore?
We're underway in the first semi-final.
Even though I hate both teams my instinct tells me that Croatia will pull this off and that we will have a repeat of the 2018 final. Croatia reminds of the W Germany teams of the 80s and the Catenaccio Italian teams up to 2006 that knew how to win tournament matches by winning ugly and grinding out results
Afternoon, David - thanks for joining me.
Yes, we could easily get a repeat of the 2018 Final. Rather tedious.
Fairly even contest so far. I wouldn't be surprised to see this one go to penalties.
Agreed, Bob. As I stated on FB the anniversary of my father's passing takers priority over my father's passing. First time in my twelfth WC that I could care less about a semi.
Messi seems to have picked up a knock. John Strong and co. are having kittens about it.
The Fox Crew definitely biased towards the Argies. Croatia haven't started back as much as they did against Japan and Brazil, yet they make it sounds like the Argies are dominating
How is the grading progressing? Jacquelyn had her two finals yesterday.
PENALTY ARGIES! CITEH RESERVE, JULIAN ALVAREZ BROUGHT DOWN BY KEEPER, LIVAKOVIC
Argentina have a penalty! Alvarez was taken out by the keeper Livakovic. He gets a yellow card and Messi has a chance to put the Argies into the lead.
Croatia caught out by a long ball from the back and Julian Alvarez through the brought down by the keeper.
Messi nets and Argentina are 1-0 up. If only Harry Kane had hit the second penalty like that.
GOAL! MESSI BLASTS IT IN THE UPPER 90 TO GIVE THE ARGIES THE LEAD.
LOL, Bob. Agreed. If only
Messi tied with Mbappe on goals and assists , but Mbappe leads by virtue of having achieved this in fewer minutes played
GOAL ! JULIAN ALVAREZ PUTS THE ARGIES TWO UP. ON A BREAK OFF A CROATIA CORNER
Mesis fouled on the break, but the ref waived play on then un usually poor Croatian defending as two players failed to clear then Alvarez scored past the stranded Livakocvic
The Argies are well on top now and want another pen. Nothing doing.
OH! Corner from Messi headed by Julian Alvarez and superbly turned around by Livakovic. Header might have been from McAllister
Half-time arrives with Argentina leading 2-0.
