The Round of 16 Continues
Morning, chaps - I'm still buzzing from England's comprehensive win over Senegal yesterday, which has set up an immense quarterfinal date with France on Saturday. Today, we move on to the Round of 16 matches that came out of some of the later groups. We begin with Japan v. Croatia, the one match-up without a dominant team. Later this after, the boys from Brazil take on a surprising South Korea side.
Join me throughout the day.

I'm just about finishing up the morning routine with the twins, which now includes solids and is quite a bit messier, and settling in with my brekkies to enjoy the first half of the morning match.
The teams for this one:
Japan (3-4-3): Gonda; Tomiyasu, Yoshida, Taniguchi; Ito, Morita, Junya, Nagatomo; Doan, Maeda, Kamada. Subs: Kawashima, Mitoma, Saai, Hato, Schmidt, Minamino, Machino, Yamane, Tanaka, Ueda, Shibasaki, Asano, Soma.
Croatia (4-3-3): Livakovic; Juranovic, Lovren, Gvardiol, Barisic; Brozovic, Kovacic, Modric; Petkovic, Kramaric, Perisic. Subs: Grbic, Ivusic, Erlic, Majer, Vlasic, Livaja, Pasalic, Budimir, Orsic, Vida, Sutalo, Sucic, Jakic.
Referee: Ismail Elfath (USA)
This is the part of the tournament when all of the commercials promoting the Mexico and USA seem just a bit sad.
Not the greatest half of football - 1-0 Japan at the interval.
Half way through the second half and it's 1-1, Perisic having equalized for Croatia with a well-directed header.
Just about half way through the first half of extra time. Still 1-1.
I'm over in the office now. Croatia in the end showed superior tournament mentality to pull out a penalty shootout win - the first in the competition - over Japan.
Blimey - Brazil are already 2-0 on South Korea as I join the match on the Fox stream. Vincius, Jr. with the opener in the 7th minute and Neymar with a penalty in the 12th minute. Well in control.
Oh - that's a hell of a goal from Richarlison! 3-0!
That was, as the kids say, a filthy goal.
4-0! Luis Paqueta with a lovely volleyed goal. Brazil are in full samba mode now.
South Korea get a consolation goal back through a real screamer from Pik Soon Ho.
4-1!
Brazil wrap up a simple 4-1 win over the Koreans. They were absolutely sensational in the first half. They'll meet Croatia first thing on Friday morning.
Cheerio for now!
