Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

World Cup Predictions Game

One more day and we're in World Cup heaven, lads. I'm going to toss out a proposal for a predictions game. I'm certainly no math expert, so I'll keep this simple. If you want to revise the rules in any way, go right ahead. Here's what I propose:

1 point - Correct prediction for each team that qualifies for the Round of Sixteen.
2 points - If you get the correct placement; i.e. first/second place in the group.
4 points - Correct prediction of Quarterfinalist team.
6 points - Correct prediction of Semifinalist team.
8 points - Correct prediction of Finalist
10 points - Correct prediction of World Champion.
6 points - Correct prediction of top scorer/Golden Boot.

That adds up to 120 points for perfect predictions (if I haven't screwed up the math). I'm going to let the rest of you take a crack at it first and I'll be back later with my predictions.

Good luck!

This is too much for me!!
I sort of agree with a gooner which is killing me.
I will pick the Gooner picks but as a Golden Boot I pick Gerrard/Ronaldiho with seven.

You've actually got the brackets wrong from the Quarters onward. Based on your picks from the Round of Sixteen, these would be the Quarterfinal matchups:

Germany vs. Argentina
England vs. Ivory Coast
Italy vs. Switzerland
Brazil vs. France

Give us your final four and finalists from that lot.
