Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Bellamy Penalty Miss

In case you've missed it, Craig Bellamy can't buy a goal these days. This is from Liverpool midweek Carling Cup win over Birmingham and is quite a quality penalty miss. He does the cheeky stutter step move, the Brum keeper goes, leaving the left side wide open and Bellamy merely passes it back to him. Enjoy!

What a putz! So in character for him to miss one like this.

Who's the best penalty taker you've seen in the Premiership? If you said Shearer, you'd be right. And what did he do? Practice, practice, practise until he had the muscle memory down to blast it so hard into a corner that even if the keeper guessed right, it was past him by the time he got to ground.

Bellamy and all the other stuttery sorts that fart about in this fashion should all fail this miserably.

I agree - with Shearer you could almost see his arm in the air before he kicked it. But I still prefer the solid as a rock fullback penalty taker a la Phil Neal. I don't think he ever missed.
