Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Champions League Final Live!

Well, well, well. It all comes down to this - Liverpool vs. AC Milan. We've all been here before - in 2005 it came down to penalties. It may do so again but few are predicting another 3-3 draw. Let's be honest - neither side should be there by rights and it will likely be a bore on the scale of last weekend's FA Cup Final. Still, with precious little footie on the telly these days, I shall be watching and will look forward to the pleasure of your company.

Look at this stat from the BEEB

1925: And there's not much between them in the Champions League this season. In fact, there's nothing.
AC Milan: P14; W8; D3; L3; F21; A10
Liverpool: P14; W8; D3; L3; F21; A10

That's it for the half.

A last minute goal from a lucky deflection. We can't have these cheaters win!!!
At least Liverpool are in a better position than two years ago

How does Kewell play hardly at all for three seasons and play in two Cup Finals

4:01 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Two 'Pool bookings in as many minutes

4:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Gerrard can't take advantage of a one on one with Dida

4:06 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I would take off Alonso, bring on Crouch and move Gerrard into the middle

4:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Seedorf whacked that one!! Lucky it hit Riise.

The public address keeps trying to find missing Liverpool fans. Everyone of them is in English.

Finally, Crouch on for Mascherano.
I guess they need to keep on the attacking middie

4:22 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Come on Crouchie boy!!!

4:22 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Kuyt with the goal.
Under two minutes plus stoppage time to get the equalizer.

Gerrard miscontrols it.
He has not been very good today.
Is he wearing an England shirt?

Three minutes of added time.

4:34 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

4:35 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Another sub for Milan. Will the ref add another 30 seconds?

4:35 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

No he doesn't. He decides to take away fifteen seconds.
Substitutions should not be allowed to be made to waste time.

Shame.

Wish I had some company today.

Sorry to bail you on today, Dave. I had a couple of buddies who came over at the last minute with pizza and beer....and I think you know my policy on free pizza!

Anyway, a slightly better game than I'd expected with Liverpool bossing things but suffering a goal against the run of play at the wrong time and then a second when they were pushing for it in the second half.

They made a game of it in the game, especially after Kuyt had stuck in the header.

Some lessons for Rafa - Kewell's surplus; he'll never be the player for 'Pool that he was for us. Shop him but quick. And Crouchie is the man. Why have him on the bench for 75 minutes when you know the boy changes matches with his presence. The Milan defense just simply couldn't handle him and his presence created the havoc that led to their one goal.
