Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Managerial Merry-Go-Round

It's been all change in the Premiership since the season ended last weekend. Let's look at the managerial balance sheet:

At Bolton - Big Sam's out and little Sammy Lee's in; I wouldn't be surprised if Bolton struggled next season.

At Newcastle - Glenn Roeder's out and Big Sam's in; Allardyce's first move was to dump five players including four defenders - big surprise!

At Sheffield Utd. - The evil Neil Warnock is out; no news on a replacement quite yet, but chances are he'll be spending some time in court this summer.

And at Citeh, poor old Psycho has lost one of his jobs; will he hang on to his U-21 position with England?

Any comments on those moves, lads?

It looks like Bryan Robson is going to take over for The Blades.
It will be interesting how Big Sam will have The Toon play.
Who knows what Citeh will do, they have no idea how to run a club.

It's a shame that the Toon plumped for Big Sam. I have a soft spot for Newcastle but hate Allardyce. He's indicated with his first move that he thinks that the defense needs shoring up. I was sad to see Oguchi Oneywu released, although I have to admit that I never rated the kid. His positioning is poor and he's clumsy when he gets into trouble. Apparently Martins has walked out on the club. And you never know how long wee Mikey's gammy legs will hold out. I don't think you'll have to stay up nights worrying about the Magpies.

Honestly, if my mother took over at the 'Toon and was distracted by a shirtless Charles Dance in the crowd, she'd still be able to figure out that a back line that featured Bramble, O'Brien, and Onyewu just had to go. Maybe I have a bit of a soft spot for Onyewu, but the Gator is dead right that he's just too clumsy to be the last line of defense.

The decision to cut them all loose doesn't make Piltdown a scientist.

I agree - it just makes him seem more hidebound in his defense strategy.

Meanwhile, I hear that Citeh are set to grab Claudio Ranieri for next season, so maybe there'll be some Continental flair at Eastsides, eh?
