Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Chelski vs. ManYoo Live!

Two weeks ago, this looked to be the "Mother of All Premiership title matches." Sadly - well, at least for neutrals - that's not the way it all panned out. So, Fergie will come in to Stamford Bridge with a third-string side and we'll have to wait ten days for a true match-up in the Cup Final. If you're around and following the match this afternoon, however, drop in for a cuppa, eh?

Here are the bizarre sides for today's match:

Chelsea: Cudicini, Diarra, Ferreira, Terry, Bridge, Makelele, Wright-Phillips, Essien, Mikel, Kalou, Sinclair.
Subs: Hilario, Joe Cole, Geremi, Morais, Sahar.

Man Utd: Kuszczak, Lee, Brown, O'Shea, Heinze, Eagles, Smith, Fletcher, Richardson, Solskjaer, Dong.
Subs: Van der Sar, Ferdinand, Rooney, Carrick, Scholes.

Apparently there was a torrential downpour before the match, which has left the pitch in as farcical condition as the match. Could the FA just call this one off - no one seems bothered.

Thirty minutes in and this is a complete mockery of a match. The closest thing to a chance was a header by SWP (!) that sailed well wide. The fans should get their money back for this one.

I am home. I have the computer on listening to it.
Nil- nil at half

Hey Dave!

From 365: "The half-time whistle blows. Mourinho and Ferguson won't be the only ones turning to wine if the second half is anything like the first."

Both teams are very weak. Fergie said he would do it. I am surprised that Jose has. Is he risking their unbeaten home record?

Everything being held back for the Cup Final

Are you going to get to watch the Cup Final?
Why don't you come up here for the weekend? We go to my buddies house for a Cup Final party and have lots of fun.
See you then!!

I'd love to, mate, but I won't have the time. I've got loads of deadlines for grant proposals and whatnot coming up. KC's going to be in Italy this month, so I'm just going to bunker up and get the work done. But thanks.

I'm going to try to find a pub to watch it in down here.

Hey mate, did you answer Sir Trev's question on the previous thread? He's asking about whether Sir Alex should field a side like he did today for the Hammers match on Sunday? Your thoughts?

I don't know. He does have the Cup Final to get ready for.

I just hope Wigan don't win so it doesn't matter.

So when are you coming? Friday night?
Just fly into Albany. I will be there to pick you up

Let me see what Gooner can do for me. If he's got a ticket to spare, I might consider it. I'll let you know. Thanks for the invite.

From 365: "60 Minutes - The game is still poor, but more entertainingly so now as each set of reserves try to nobble their counterparts."

Sounds great. I am sort of excited even if I know it is a long shot

It seems to be a little snippy out there.
Heinze is taken off my Sir Alex. Smart move. No red cards

I don't know why both sides don't treat this as an exhibition and forgo the defending and just score loads of goals for the fans?

Rooney replaces Dong

Is he a brother of Kevin Phillips Dong?

4:31 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

From 365: "Wayne Rooney is coming on to replace the ineffectual Dong."

Perhaps he could use some Viagra?

Jose is unbeaten in over 90 home games with Chelski and Porto

I'd like to see Jose banished from the Premiership!

No, I think it was KPB in the SSP because I always remember thinking that he must be MORE THAN Slightly Silly because he didn't vote for himself.
Elsie Ziiiiip, was Silly so was Tarquin ... Barrel.

Kuszczak drops a corner and the Blues score. Then he makes two good saves.
Four minutes to go.

Chelski are getting some chances.
Come on United, don't lose

I am actually doing an experiment today.
I NEVER wear United stuff(neither can my family) while they are playing.
Well, today I wore a United tie to school. Left my United watch on and came home and put on a United T-shirt.
Let's hope it doesn't blow up in my face.

There has been five yellow cards and many substitutions and still only two minutes.
GOOD

And it is over

United don't lose

Glad to hear it.

I am really serious about the Cup Final. You would have a great time up here.
Take a serious look.
