Amy Wins a Grammy!
Every once in a while at the Grammys a moment of authenticity cuts through the usual awards show crap. That happened at the tail end of last night's show. In case you hadn't heard the backstory, Amy Winehouse had been denied a visa to go to a show where she'd been nominated for six awards. Instead the organizers put together a private show in London. She'd already blown away all of the Rihanna/Beyonce fakers with a blistering performance through "I'm No Good" and "Rehab" when Tony Bennett announced that she'd won the Record of the Year. Her response is one for the ages. Enjoy!

Did you happen to see the winner of the mygrammymoment contest? . . . Ann Marie Calhoun . . . wife of Brian Calhoun . . . who is first cousin to Lauri Calhoun Menditto . . .
No kidding! Wow, she was very, very good, especially when taking the solo during the Foos set. Nice one, Trev. Pass on my best to her.
Won't probably see her again until Thanksgiving, unless she comes through town on a tour . . . saw her last year playing with guitar virtuoso Steve Vai . . . the year before she toured with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, so she's not a rank amateur for sure
Whoa, so she's got some serious metal chops, then. That makes sense. They had Zeppelin bass master John Paul Jones leading the orchestra on Sunday night. Bet she can rip through "Aqualung."
I don't doubt that she was choked about the fire in Camden. Where's she going to buy her "gear" if those suspicious lads on the bridge and footpath along the canal aren't able to ply their trade?
Come to think of it, it's a wonder that the whole Borough isn't enjoying a nice contact high.
Aw, give Wino a break. You have to admit that coked out or not, she blew everything else off the stage Sunday night. Amazing performance full of soul and real anger. My hope is that she can get her shit together in the next year because there's no doubting she's a huge talent. Big ups to Mark Ronson for winning producer of the year.
