The Prem is Back!
After several weeks of games postponed for weather or pre-empted by Cup ties, the Prem is back in earnest with nearly a full slate of matches today. It all starts in a moment with a real cracker - third place Villa at home to fourth place Chelsea, in their first match without Big Phil Scolari.
Join me for the usual Saturday banter.

Lovely. The first Adthe link is for Sky Sports and its pulled up full pre-match coverage of Villa vs. Chelski.
Whoever is in charge of Chelski today - Butch Wilkins perhaps - has figured out in a few days what Big Phil never did - play Drogba and Anelka together. Brilliant!
Silly me, of course its the Dutch supremo Guus Hiddink who's stepped into the breach. His first test today.
The Adthe link has popped off and I've moved on to Justin. Good video but no audio as of yet.
Good end to end stuff so far with Drogba bringing a good save out of big Brad there.
I've got a link with sound now. Andy Gray doing the color. Magic!
Looping shot by Lamps just about caught Friedel out.
Surely a front three pairing of Drogs, Anelka and Kalou will be enough to expose Zat Knight.
Ballack lining up a free kick but it's straight into the wall Ronaldo-style.
Heskey hasn't had a sniff against JT or Alex in the back as of yet.
GOAL! Anelka! The first Chelski goal under the Hiddink era and it's a beauty. A little ball down the channel from Lamps to Anelka and he tucks it by Friedel with aplomb.
0-1 Chelksi!
How many times have we seen a side tanking under an old boss spring back to life with the introduction of a new boss? It's clear from this superb Chelski performance today that these players had stopped playing for Scolari.
That Anelka goal has lifted Chelski a point above Villa in third now.
Half an hour in and except for a small patch in the first ten minutes, Chelski have controlled this match as if they were a side heading for another championship.
Free header for JT but well saved by Friedel.
Oh, Ashley Young strikes the underside of the bar with a rocket of a free kick and Cech was in no man's land there. Very close to an equalizer.
Roman Abramovich is notably in attendance today and trying to dispel rumors that he's lost interest in his footie plaything.
The Villa midfield has just not clicked all day long. Stilian Petrov in particular has been poor.
Chelski have taken their foot off the pedal a bit in the last five minutes and have egged Villa on. Hiddink will be happy to get them into the dressing room for half time still 0-1 up.
Emile Heskey has obviously caught a ball in the mush. His face looks comically as if someone has thrown a pie at him.
Nearin half time now. Villa would love to equalize before the interval.
Hey Bob,
I am here
I tried the first link and it wasn't the right match
The second link is working. I think it Setanta US
Now the first one is English.
The second one is foreign
Second half is underway
Chelski are kicking off the second half 0-1 up. A win at Villa Park would their confidence a power of good and would throw the Champions League battle into another phase.
Morning, Dave? Rec tiddlywinks, was it this morning?
I've got a lovely link on Justin:
http://www.footysports.tv/content/sports/#splayer
Is it the Sky Coverage.
Mine is English
Andy is right - Gabby Ag was fairly quiet in the first half.
I couldn't connect to your link
Yes, mine is Sky with Andy Gray doing color. Yours?
Have Chelsea dominated?
Deserve their lead?
You didn't respond to my Rec Tiddlywinks comment, Dave. I thought it was fairly witty.
Mine is two familiar voices. Not sure who though
Yeah, they dominated the first half. Could have been 0-2 up. JT missed a free header. Good for the lead, for sure. You can tell their playing for their places under a new boss.
The commentators say that when March begins every player gets an amnesty and their cards get wiped out
Of course, March brings back the white ball
Cuellar goes into the book for snapping at Drogba's heels.
Gabby Ag should have done better there. He completely skinned JT.
Ags goes close and so does Milner
Big chance for Milner, blocked by Drogs of all people. Villa charging now and Chelski seem to be settling for a 0-1 win.
Deco coming on.
Must be an injury
First change - Deco on for Kalou.
I could really do with a draw here
Can you guys beat Cheltenham at ER road today?
Bloody well hope so
I just clicked on myp2p link.
All the Premiership games are back!!
I'm top of the Ronaldo the Slave league this morning. I've got Villa to win this one but I won't lose points as I've got the insurance chip on it. Here are my other picks:
Arsenal 2 Sunderland 0
Bolton 1 West Ham 1
Boro 0 Wigan 1
Stoke 1 Pompey 1
ManYoo 3 Blackburn 0
Fulham 1 WBA 0
Pool 2 Citeh 1
Newcastle 1 Everton 2
Hull 1 Spurs 1
Really? They must have sorted out their legal battle. I don't know how the geeks pull it off. The movie channel I've been watching is obviously pirated but they've got adverts on it. That takes some balls!
Yeah, the boys are at home to bottom of the table Cheltenham today. If we can't get it done, I'm going to give up on the season.
One of the links on p2p is the Sky coverage.
You and the Gooner both praying for a draw, eh?
No you won't
So are you coaching the Rec Tiddlywinks then, Davey?
There is rec basketball today.
The boys had a sleepover so Matt didn't go to his 8:30.
I don't know if Jon is going either
Derby are 2-0 up at Forest
Barry produces a fine save from Petr Cech.
Barry has his attempt saved by Cech
No sense of humor at all, Mr. Noctio.
Andy Gray thinks there's more goals in this one. I'm not so sure. You?
Davies off for another big man, John Carew.
So, O'Neil going for it
come again?
Has Deco had a touch since coming on? Villa are completely dominating this half.
That's what she said!
15 minutes to go
COME ON VILLA
Another free kick for Villa. They've looked dangerous from these. Milner?
Drogs still not the sharpest today.
So by your thesis, Chelski must have won the toss today. Villa kicked off in the first half but aren't attacking the Holt End in the second half. Chelski won the toss and elected for field position rather than kicking off, right?
Chelski trying to catch Villa on the break now.
Bosingwa picks up a silly yellow card for time-wasting at the throw-in.
I lost my links and got kicked off the net.
I am back and have a p2p Sky Sports link
Almost into injury time
That is correct. Villa loss the toss
Only a few minutes left. Not much stoppage time, I suspect.
Andy Gray is apoplectic over that foul called on Heskey. If refs had done that in his day, he wouldn't have been able to do anything on the park.
JT is getting booked for a blatant bit of obstruction there.
That dropped right on to the thigh of a Villa man in the six yard box!!
Belletti is coming on for the late, late show. It's Drogs coming off. He's been fairly anonymous today. But the Chelski faithful are giving him a generous hand.
Four minutes of stoppage time.
Stoppage time
4 minutes
add another thirty secs for this substitution
Great save by Friedel
Good save, Brad!
Nearly full-time now.
I still think Chelsea are a threat
This is the perfect start by Huddink. This could make them kick off
One last chance for the Villans to pump it up.
That is it.
Chelsea back up to third and seven points behind United
Full-time: 0-1. Time has run out for the Villans. It's their first loss for a long time and a big, big win for the new boss at Stamford Bridge.
Right, I'm moving into my living room to see what FSC have on offer.
Looks like they're setting up Bolton vs. Hammers on the box. What a rubbish match!
I was hoping that FSC would show either Arsenal or Liverpool and I could then dial up the other on the net. Now I've got to choose.
Liverpool vs Citeh is on tomorrow LIVE at TEN o'clock
They aren't showing the Newcastle Everton game at 11
I'm staying on the Sky link to see what's going to come up next. You?
Still no Beckford in the side today. Only Lucciano Becchio up front for us with Andy Robinson in the hole. Just about kick off time.
Cheers, Dave. I could have sworn that Pool vs. Citeh was on today. I'll be watching the Arse then.
Anyone else having difficulty connecting to the ADHTE link?
I lost my link.
I will definitely look for another match
I would think nothing but Soccer Saturday will come on your link
Are you sticking around for the duration or are you off?
You're right - here comes Soccer Saturday. Lovely!
Morning, Gooner. Yeah, I had some joy at 7 a.m. with the Sky Sports link but there specific Chelski link didn't work for me. I'm on a link that I got from linking on to JustinTV. The URL didn't work for Davey though.
If you're interested in watching the Arse, Gooner, I'd try one of the links off Justin.
The final whistle has gone in the early Championship game and Derby have beaten great rivals Nottingham Forest 3-1 at the City Ground, their fourth win in a row in the league.
What link has SS?
Steve did you read about p2p working again?
Bloody hell - Peterboro are already 0-1 ahead against the side that did us over in mid-week Hereford. Not good.
The one I gave you earlier.
http://www.footysports.tv/content/sports/#splayer
If that doesn't work, I'd go onto Justin and try any of the Sky Sports links.
anyone found the Arsenal game yet?
Arshavin is starting on the right side of midfield. Some good touches so far, according to Le Tiss.
Did you try Justin?
Arshavin nearly scores on his debut!
Bolton take the lead
Nice hit by Matty Taylor
Great free kick from Matty Taylor puts Bolton 1-0 over West Ham.
Bloody hell
Two nil
I went to Justin and the Arsenal game is just starting
Bloody hell - Kevin Davies has knocked in a second goal from a lovely Elmander cross. 2-0 Bolton.
Rob Green really looks pissed off at his defense.
Now Stockport have taken the lead. Not good.
RVP nearly scores. It sounds like it's all the Arse according to Le Tiss.
Now Collins is down and looks as if he'll be stretchered off. Not a good day for the Irons.
Oldham have taken the lead too
I can't find any link to watch!!
Now Oldham are 0-1 up against Yeovil. It couldn't be worse for us today.
The SS link didn't work for you?
Nice language on the TV
Nice - Yeovil have equalized.
What was the language? I've got it muted?
Oldham have been pegged back
Le Tiss reckons that Arshavin has been really special so far. He's nearly scored again.
Nice blue stuff from the corner
The good news is that we're all over Cheltenham. We haven't scored in several games now. Come on!
Good joke by Stellings. He's mentioned that Phil Thompson's on a ski holiday and that cracks that Thompson is the only who brings his own ski slope with him. Nice one!
Leicester 0-1 up. Matt Fryatt scoring once again.
Finally, my atdhe link for the Arse is working.
I still want Soccer Saturday!!
Finally, I found something that works. So Arshavin is going well?
All Sunderland in the past five minutes. Arsenal under the gun.
Sunderland have had a couple of chances in the first minute of me joining
That's what Matt Le Tiss has been saying. He's had several good chances well saved. Lots of pace and good touches.
Gooner, are you watching Atalkgjgja'
It was the tower of babel which fooled me. All those distracting feeds led be to believe that they were speaking some stripe of foreign!
The broadcaster for the SS link on Justin is Aloushi1234 if that helps.
I'm on Iraq channel one.
It has SS on top and below it's the Arse
Scunthorpe now 0-1 up. Bugger.
Zola doesn't look pleased at all. The Hammers haven't got going yet.
Clever play from Nick there almost let Nasri in.
Is that Leeds behind Bob? Who are they playing today?
Half an hour gone and we've got six shots on goal to nil for Cheltenham. No goals though.
Nah, we're still at 0-0 with Cheltenham. At home. And they're rock bottom.
Yes! That's what we get from Andrei. Great cross for Nick and whiskers wide.
Huddersfield now 0-1 up. A lot of away leads in Division 1 for some reason. And they're all our rivals.
We're now down in ninth. It's all over for this season.
I was concerned about your comment about Scunthorpe. Just have to keep winning and pick up points on your rivals as they fail to capitalize.
Nice to see Villa lose today for instance. Crucial for us not to let the opportunity go begging.
Boro and Wigan sounds like the worst match of the day so far. 0-0.
Cheers I am on the Iraqi goals for SS
BLOODY HELL, this footer stuff is all over the net!!
A draw for Villa-Chelski would have been a better result, though, no?
We're loving it!
Yeovil now 2-1 up. That's the only advantageous scoreline for us so far.
I have my Atdhe Arsenal link and the Iraqi SS link
The Atdhe link is exactly the same as the video below SS
How much do I love Soccer Saturday? Listening to the Merse groaning in the background is far more entertaining than watching the Bolton-Hammers match that he's covering.
I agree.
I am trying to turn down the sound of the Arsenal match but I can't seem to do it
The Hammers should of scored.
Rotten shot
Zola is not pleased again as his Italian signing DiMichaeli misses an absolute sitter.
Crewe have levelled against Huddersfield. that's nice.
Points-wise, maybe. But just a chunk out of Villa's morale is good business for us. They're an injury to two of any of their key players away from UEFA cup qualifying challengers so anything that increases pressure on them is good.
Chelsea, feh? They're a shambles and could collapse at any time and good riddance to the whole effin' shower of Cockney shite they are. May Roman's filthy lucre continue to disappear quickly and steadily.
Davey, click the forward arrow/pause. That should do it.
Scunthorpe now 0-2 up.
I have tried but I can't get it to SHUT UP!!!
I think Chelsea could be dangerous now
I hope you're right though
Usually there's a little speaker icon that I click to mute the channel without stopping it.
Le Tiss is excited. Soton are 3-0 up!
Le Tis is a happy camper
Southampton are three up!!!
I'm a bit disappointed that we're not going after these mongrels with the same verve as we had dispatching Cardiff. S'land are about Bluebird quality and really, we should be lording it over this bunch too.
Step. It. Up. Now.
I am going to get both of you on Mastermind
Specialized Subject... the bleedin obvious!!!
Coming up on half-time at the Elland. 11 shots to 3 for us but still 0-0. sigh.
Now, now Mr. Rec Tiddlywinks. Just trying to be helpful.
Half time at the Reebok. 2-0 Bolton.
What year was the War of 1812?
Who's buried in Grant's tomb?
What color is brown hair/
Seriously, I don't know why I can't get rid of the sound.
I have both window going. I think I have gotten rid of one of them.
It is half-time between Stoke and Portsmouth and a dire first period has ended 0-0.
It the iraqi link I can't shut up
Davey, Chelsea are always there with that potential. But their purchase power is steadily decreasing. They have a player glut which even a strongman like Hiddink will have trouble keeping quiet and happy. Then they are plagued with obvious wantaways like Lampard, Drogba, Ballack, and money chasers like Terry and Anelka and Carvallo. And the structure there makes Hiddink servant to Kenyon and Arneson and of course Roman.
So maybe they do well, but there are seeds of a cataclysm there too. And you know what I'm hoping for.
The SS link has frozen
Come on, come back for half time please
Half time at the Em and it is scoreless
Looking at the Prem table now, you've got to say that everyone from West Ham in 8th on down could face the drop.
Me too
My SS stream froze up so I've joined you on Iraq goals. That is a Tower of Babel!
Davey, I've just simply clicked on the little speaker icon on the bottom left of one of the screens and it's now muted. Call me the bleedin' obvious but sort it out, mate!
I'm trying!!
I have figured out that it is the Iraqi link. I wonder if I can't shut one off and keep the other one going.
Of course, it doesn't matter. The SS link is just showing the spinning wheel!
RVP should have scored with that chance after 10 minutes
Arse Shaven had two nice shots!!!
Leeds back up to 8th as a result of Huddersfield drawing 1-1.
I wonder where this broadcast is coming from - they're advertising stuff that I've never heard of. Chivita?
Are these three geezers in identical polos shirts South Africans? That would be my guess.
Arsenal about to get us started in the second half.
Ooh, Carlton Cole nearly scored with a point blank header cleared off the line there.
Back from the loo and both my links are frozen
Not a good morning for me
One of the guys is ex Red and England keeper Gary Bailey
Good save from Green prevents a third Bolton goal.
He's South African, right?
Yes... of course he played for England
My iraqi link is still not working!!
Ooh, that was nasty from Noble. And the referee's calling him over. Reaching for his top pocket and it's a yellow card. Could have been red.
I know you'll accuse me of being a Mastermind, but try refreshing it.
Leeds have taken the lead
I went to Iraqi channel 3 and i have picture and wait for it... no sound!
http://www.iraqgoals.com/en/ch1.html
Then let all 4 streams load. Turn off the ones that don't work.
Usual pattern to an Arsenal game with lesser opposition. It reminds me of a match over at the Dosedel's garden. Surrounding the goal with no cutting edge.
What, no comment for Howson's goal?
Whitehead gives away a needless free kick and the Arse can loft one into the danger area. I still think RVP should be on the end of these.
Looking at what we're doing, the patient build up thing is not working. We cannot hope to break down 9 sometimes 10 in their half just knocking it around and trying to pick the lock. Other teams use quick width play and knock it in and that would be a better tactic.
And to capitalize on set pieces ferchrissakes.
I can't believe I have no sound now!!
The volume is all the way down on the right. I can't make it go up!!!
Hurrah! Captain courageous Jon Howson with our goal. 1-0 to the good guys!
Up into 7th with Stockport, Tranmere and Huddersfield all drawing now.
That said, it's obvious that Song is the weak link in the chain. He needs to stay back and disrupt. Bringing him forward makes him available to pass to and he cannot pass a ball of over 4 yards. He's giving away possession time and time again. Denilson, not much better tbf.
Yeah, you could use someone who doesn't mind sticking his head into the danger area on some of these set pieces. Look at how many goals Vidic scores for United.
