Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Hey Bob,
I clicked on the Atdhe Celtic Rangers link and it went right to the kick off at Goodison
Everton score an early one and Villa have just tied it up with a definite penalty
This is a cracking Cup tie already, with James Milner slipping a dodgy penalty under Tim Howard's body to equalize for Villa.
It's 1-1 at Goodison after only seven minutes!
Morning, Dave. I've got the Setanta feed up and running on Adthe.
Me too but ,as I said, it is the Celtic Rangers link
I didn't even look for this match's link
I am off to flag football for the second half of this match and the beginning of the United match.
BUT DON'T GO ANYWHERE!
How's the weather your way? Did you have any days off this week?
Not going anywhere this morning, Mr. Flag Football. That's not even a proper game!
Did you see one of the top links is Sky Sports. I clicked on it and it is the Murray Nadal tennis. Hopefully this will be around for Premiership Sundays
Our weather has been really mild and then it did turn colder but no precipitation so I had a full week of school.
BUT I have my winter break this week so NO SCHOOL FOR ME!
hi bob its matt it might not be a proper sport but it sure is fun
The local schools had Wednesday off for a "Wind Day!" What's that all about?
Hi Matt - you should be working on your footer skills 365 days of the year. Other games are mere distractions.
Crikey, it's another penalty! Anichebe surges down the middle and Sidwell hacks him. Good call from the referee.
Arteta strides up and finishes easily. The Toffees are 2-1 up in the battle of the American keepers.
I had a game Friday and scored two goals!!!
Dad again,
Everton score a penalty! Good match
Now Stilian Petrov has picked up a yellow. This is all Premiership sturm und drang stuff here. And the crowd's loving it.
Did you see my link about Sky Sports? It has been there for quite a while!
So did you do anything special for Valentine's Day?
Yeah, I'll check that out. Good stuff. I hate Rupert Murdoch!
No, we had a game to go to.
It was Kathy's birthday the day before so we went out then after another game
I am off. I will be back about 11:50
Kick off at 11:30
I am going to leave my DVR so I can rewind and see UNITED'S THREE GOALS!
Gabby should have done better there. Off the shoulder effort.
Cheerio, then.
Coming up on half time and still Everton lead 2-1.
Tim Cahill has added a third goal in the 76th minute for Everton and Toffees look to be heading for the quarterfinals. That's not good news for Villa's Premiership rivals as the Villans have little to play for other than league place now.
Full-time: Everton 3 Villa 1
ManYoo are visiting Pride Park this morning on the cavalcade of Cup footie. Here is the United side:
Man Utd: Foster, Rafael Da Silva, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra,Park, Fletcher, Gibson, Nani, Giggs, Ronaldo. Subs: Kuszczak, Vidic, Scholes, Welbeck, O'Shea, Tevez, Possebon. Referee: Alan Wiley (Staffordshire)
As you can see, a bit of tinkering from Fergie today. He does have a Premiership fixture in mid-week against Fulham to think about. So no Roon due to injury and Berbatov also gets the afternoon off. Giggs and Ronaldo start up front with the option of Tevez off the bench. Jonny Evans gets the start with Vidic available on the bench if needed.
Pride Park looks gorgeous this afternoon. Quite a difference from the playing surface at the old Baseball Ground in the 70s.
Nani's picked up a knock to the nose early on here and has gone off for treatment.
Robbie Savage has got stuck in early on with Ronaldo not happy with a challenge.
Derby are doing what you'd expect them to, harrying the Premiership leaders but ManYoo look very controlled so far.
Good interplay between Ronaldo and Fletcher leaves Fletcher with a shot from a decent range. Good save from the keeper.
United exerting pressure now. Free kick with Ronaldo and Giggs standing over it.
Ronaldo astonishingly goes for goal from a really acute angle and contrives to hit it into the wall again. How many times have we seen that this season?
The Derby fans are holding their breaths at this point. The United attack are so fluent. Nani there lost his marker wide and dinked a lovely ball into Park who brought another great save from the keeper.
Another free kick here from ManYoo, this time central and about forty yards out. It's Ronaldo again...
And it's straight into the wall again. I think it's about time for Giggs to step up and take the ball away from the Portugeezer in those situations.
First decent effort from Derby. It ping pongs around the box a bit before dropping for Rob Hulse who turns and hits a volley well over the bar.
Another free kick for United very wide on the left. The big men come up and Nani looks to chip it in. Easily collected by Bywater.
I am here
nil nil after 23 minutes
Big shout for a penalty for Derby there, but Alan Wiley wasn't impressed by Rob Hulse's dive over Ferdinand's leg. Rio's not happy with Rob either.
Welcome back, Mr. Flag Football Dad.
Who do Arsenal or Cardiff have in the 5th Round?
Has the draw happened?
Fergie giving the gum a good working over as usual on the touchline.
Sorry, I misundertook you!
Arsenal Cardiff have Burnely at home
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NANI!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOAL! Nani with an absolute laser into the back of the net. And here he goes off on the tumbling routine.
Nice Shot
The Derby defenders just stood off your forwards there. They were passing it about for fun. Too much respect.
Got it. No, I should expect the draw will probably happen on Monday, perhaps after the 4th round replay. I don't know why they couldn't have sorted that one before this weekend.
It was nice of United to wait until I got home to score
Decent free kick opportunity for Derby here. Kris Commons standing over the ball. Nice shot on target but Foster collects down to his right.
Wasn't it, though? Although I'm sure you'd have been okay to come home to 4-0 up, eh?
The Quarter Final Draw has a link at 1:30
someone or someone vs someone or someone
If United win it will only be Chelsea, Everton and United in the hat
True, I did say they would 3 up
What a ball from Giggsy to Nani!
Right - there were a load of draws yesterday. Who'd you like?
I have just put on the ITV link for this match.
It is ahead of the TV but I want the half time stuff and the draw
I might minimize it til half
TWO NIL!!!!!!!!!
LOVELY JUBBLEY
2-0! Bloody hell, that was easy.
No, it is offside
Oh, wait a minute. There's a flag. I didn't see it earlier. Marginal offside call. I don't see it.
The linesman didn't raise his flag!!
Rio's still having a go at Alan Wiley over that goal. And now Fergie's giving the fourth official the hairdryer!
Robbie Savage is Butch Wilkins with a chip on his shoulder. Every ball he plays is either square or back toward his own goal. What a load of rubbish.
What was that song?
I am surprised Tevez isn't playing. Berba not playing and Roon coming back
missed it
Glad to see Evra back
Free kick chance. This is the Ron range
Another Ronaldo free kick here. Let me guess - straight into the wall...
Yes, indeed.
But then Gibson gets on the end of it and sticks it in. 2-0!
into the wall again... but Gibson puts in a nice effort
YES!!!!!!!!!
Fergie's happy. He's off for the Pick 'n' Mix.
Who are the United fans asking what the score is?
1712: OK. Apparently, the linesman was not sure whether Ryan Giggs had touched Ben Foster's goal-kick on for Cristiano Ronaldo so he had to wait to check with the referee before confirming the offside decision. He was marginally offside so it was the right decision... eventually.
Now, was the goal offside. Rafael was definitely in the eye sight of the keeper
I am now off to the ITV coverage
It is 20 seconds ahead of the TV
Half-time coming up...I'm off for a bite.
Andy Townsend and Teddy Teddy in the studio for ITV
Second half starting up. It looks as if Vidic is tearing into a packet of Wotsits on the bench. He's not coming on anytime soon.
Your prediction, sir?
Teams are out for the second half
ITV show a replay of the linesman for the goal.
He doesn't raise his flag and runs back but is asking was there a touch. When he is told, he goes to spot of the offside and raises his flag. Well done actually
TV is 20 seconds ahead again.
Prediction for what?
Vidic or UNITED'S WIN!!
YES!!!!!!!!!
RONALDO WITH A BULLET OF A HEADER!!!!!
3-0! Ronaldo. Too easy.
So apparently Nigel Clough's half-time team talk was:
"Nice one, lads. Keep doing the same thing."
Almost four-nil there.
United in almost twice
Nice save
Get some clothes on that kid! Disgraceful!
~Mary Whitehouse
Ron trying to backheal it in
O'Shea and Welbeck coming on for Park and Evra
Derby get a goal back!!
They did this at Old Trafford.
COME ON UNITED!!!!
A free header for Addison spoils the Mardi Gras party here for United.
3-1. Game on?
IF they get another one, it is game on.
What do you imagine the Derby sponsor Bombadier sells?
You can rewind the ITV link so I now have them exactly the same timing for the TV and computer
Am I a geek?
Useless by Ron
Rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb...
You are a super geek.
Twenty five minutes left. Plenty of time for the Rams to score three goals.
Shut it!!!
Tony is reading us right now but not commenting
Let's be havin you!!
Great move by Giggs and Ron and then he hits row Z
What was Nani doing??
HE HAD BEATEN HIM!
20 to go
What is up with us and Derby? They are hopeless and we have struggled them three times
I know this isn't a complete struggle but it could be
Possebon on for Ronny
United could have 25 more matches this season without replays... and win the quintuplet! Of course, we won the Community Shield as well
Nice shot and nice save by Foster
Another free header!!
Rafael would have cleared it but COME ON
Come on United, make it safe
Down to ten minutes. Derby have wasted the momentum they had after the goal went in.
Chelskilad, Chelskilad, can you read us on the blog? Caaaan yoooouuuu reeeeaaaad uusssss on the blog?
Welbeck - 4-1!
Beautiful goal by Welbeck!!
We're through now
Off comes the most hated man in British football.
That was a quality finish from Danny Welbeck. We'll take him on loan, taverymuch.
Scorers for United at Sotton in the third round
Nani, Gibson and Welbeck
Same again
Fergie hasn't lost to a lower league team in the Cup EVER!!
The last time United lost was to Redkhnap's Bournemouth in '84
We're on the march with Fergie's Army, we're all going to Wembley and we'll shake em up when we win the FA Cup cause United are the greatest football team!!
Hi Guys .
What a great song Bob . I just had to
join in after that .
E.on Man of the Match
Gibson
What song?
Hello Tony
Rio clearing up there.
Welcome, Tony. Who would you like for the Blues in the next round?
Tevez is smiling on the bench.
You've been ignoring all of my jokes all afternoon, Dave.
Please yourself!
Great song about 15 comments ago .
United in the next round would be good
That is it!!
United are through
I am staying for the Draw
That's it - full-time ManYoo 4-1 winners.
So if ManYoo win a quintuple this season, why should fans of any other side keep watching?
ahh, nice song Bob. I missed that one
Let's win it all... everyone else can bugger off!
I am actually quite concerned about Inter. I think we may come a cropper with the Special One. There is no way they should have been group runners up!
Jon just called me to say the Milan
derby is live on ITV 3 . Great stuff .
I'll watch that down the pub .
We have that match on FSC
Say hello to Jon for me
Super Sunday Plus has started. Don't know if they'll cover the draw.
I will keep you up to date. I am watching ITV
They are showing the Everton Villa highlights
The are off to Soho Square
Here is the draw...
Leeds United vs... sorry I made a mistake
Frank McClintock and Graham Souness making the draw
Here we go for the quarter finals... fifteen clubs still in it
Blackburn or Coventry vs Chelsea
Swansea or Fulham vs Manchester United
Cardiff Arsenal Burnely vs Sheff Utd or Hull
Everton vs West Ham or Boro
Full Draw
Blackburn or Coventry vs Chelsea
Swansea or Fulham vs Manchester United
Cardiff Arsenal or Burnley vs Sheff Utd or Hull
Everton vs West Ham or Boro
United could take on Fulham again. They have twice in the league close together
I might be around for tomorrow match
I will definitely follow United on Wednesday
Cheers
Dave
What do you think of that ?
I'm off down the pub in a minute .
Talk to you guys later .
Bob , I do think that was quite mean
of Dave with his Leeds joke .
Cheers, Tony. I'm used to it. Being a Leeds supporter means weathering the jokes over the years.
In terms of the draw, it'll probably end up being:
Blackburn vs. Chelski
Swansea vs. United
Arsenal vs. Hull
Everton vs. West Ham
So, just about all Premiership with Swansea the "giantkillers."
Enjoy the Milan derby, Tony. I'll check in with you later.
