Well, we're off. I'll fix that weird picture at the half or not.

Arshavin and Eduardo on the bench. The usual suspects on the pitch

Keane makes his return for Spurs.

This sets up as a cracker.

Hey Stevo, I am here

I have the Atdhe link working strong

Spurs haven't beaten the Arse in the league since United's treble winning season

Blogger United We Stand said...

Good to see that Eduardo is on the bench for your lot

8:31 AM

My link is just about to start, you?

I've got the first ATDHE link up and it's good and clear. Looks very sunny in NW6

Morning, Davey.

Happy to see Eduardo back.

Do you think that Keano has to score today?

Is this Alan Green commentating?

Shame it isn't Sky's coverage. It is their cameras but it is Sport 7. We won't get the half time stuff
I am going to look for the Sky coverage

8:35 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

No, this is Ian Drake, I think

8:35 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Keane should get a yellow for simulation.

8:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Was Keane #7 before?

8:36 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

If you find it, let me know. I cannot take this wanker. He bangs on and on against Arsenal every week.

8:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Will do

He was complimenting Arsenal's passing

8:38 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I don't remember.

Adebayor should be steaming in there. What a chance to take this game by the throat. Say what you will about Bendtner, but he'd have met that ball with his commitment.

8:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The other two links aren't good.
One is foreign and the other is windows.
They may change though

8:40 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Adebayor doesn't seem to be 'trying'

8:41 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

You won't but if you had a piece of paper and checked off all the times he compliments us and all the times he slags us off, you'd see. You'd also see that he really prizes physical commitment so that apes like Brett Emmerton give him a woodie.

I Hate Him.

8:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

This game looks like it is an afternoon game at Almunia's goal and a night game at Cudicini's

8:43 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Yeah, I wish I knew what the difference was from last season for Adebayor. I fear it's another wantaway money issue, but in this economy, can he really think that going off form is going to bring in the big offers from the Italians and Spanish.

Here we go, poor effing Eboue again booed by his support. Honestly, move on.

8:43 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

They won the toss, and the teams switched ends from where they warmed up. I bet it was to take advantage of the sun on Almunia's goal.

Ball in the net from Eboue. Looking at the replay, did you think there was enough to call that back? Very petty from the ref.

8:46 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I was in the loo, what happened?
I am at 15:26, is it the same for you?

8:47 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I hope Andrei brought Roman a blini stuffed with polonium.

8:48 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I think this guys name is Ian Dark not Drake

Did you think that Arshavin would be on the bench today?

8:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Eboue needs to shut up

8:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What is with Keane?
He has been at so many clubs.
Wolves, Coventry, Inter, Spurs, Costa

Mike made a comment, if he is such a good player why are these clubs getting rid of him?

8:51 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Eboue on a run down the left, shot parried by Cudicini, scramble with Adebayor and Woodie, Woodie falls over Adebayor, ref whistles as Eboue slams it home.

Really, Woodie was clumsy and lucky that the ref whistled that dead.

Eboue has reason for feeling agrieved and that's part of that yellow card. Suicide by ref?

8:51 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Great tackle by Clichy but very dangerous

8:53 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Look at Modric, he was always going to fall over.

I was hoping that Arshavin would be drafted in immediately, yes. Look, without Cesc, and with Song in the mid, we're very soft. So we need a guy who knows his way to goal.

8:54 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

How has Eduardo done with the reserves? Has he scored much?

8:54 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Morning, lads. For some silly reason, I thought that the match started at 9 but it appears that we've been going for a while. 8:30 then?

8:54 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Keane was also at Leeds, no?

8:54 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Morning sleepy head!
Yes he was at ER too

8:55 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Woody has won quite a few headers in the box

8:56 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Eduardo has looked quite lively. I saw his first reserve game and he was unlucky. Two first class saves and he hit the post. He went off after 45 or I think he would have scored.

We're trying to play a slick passing game with Song, Eboue, Diaby who aren't up to the job. Wenger should be introducing some change up in style until he's got players that can do the job.

8:58 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Tottenham playing at "high tempo" did he say? Huddlestone's clearly not on the pitch then.

8:59 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Lennon should have done better

9:00 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Yeah, Robbie's a journeyman alright. Wolves, Inter, Coventry, Leeds, Spurs, Liverpool and now Spurs again. I'd love to be his real estate broker.

9:01 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I forgot Denilson. He's another one who's not up to the passing game that Wenger insists on.

9:02 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Good save, Manuel!

9:02 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Nice save by Almunia

9:02 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

oooh, Spurs lucked out there!

9:03 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I don't rate Modric as highly as many do, but he's certainly capable of losing his marker if that's Song. WDF?

And at the other end, where are our forwards. We'd let tap-ins go begging over and over.

9:03 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Corluca with suicidal play there. The Arse should have stuck that in.

9:03 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

You're right, Ian doesn't seem to fancy the Arsenal, does he?

9:05 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That doesn't look good for Adebayor

9:06 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Adebayor's done for the day, surely. Sad. Nick Bendtner's up jogging already.

9:07 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I don't think Ian does. I think he's a poor choice to do our games.

Shit, there's Adebayor off with a hammy. Bring on Nick and stop faffing around.

9:07 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Why is he not ready?
Get on the field

9:08 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What is going? Wow, I thought Eboue was off there!

9:08 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

OH MY GOD!!
HE IS!!!

WHAT HAPPENED!

9:09 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Bloody hell, is this a second yellow for Eboue? No, it's a yellow for Modric. Close thing there. It is a second yellow! Make up your mind, ref!!!

9:09 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

What the hell was Eboue doing? He knows that this ref has him in his sights. What a fool.

9:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What did he do?

9:10 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The Gooner fans don't look too happy.
I bet you they are pissed with Eboue and not the ref

9:10 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Well, Nick Bendtner is on now but Arsenal are down to ten.

9:10 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

From the replay that was stupid by Eboue!

9:11 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Arsenal fans haven't been happy with Eboue for quite some time, right Gooner?

9:11 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Maybe this will light a fire under the Arsenal? That often happens in adversity.

9:12 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Good block, Kolo on Pavlyuchenko.

9:14 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Both Davey,

This ref is typically bad, too petty for the first card. The Prem is falling towards MLS standards of refereeing. If Blatter and Platini didn't select any English ref for 2010, you really couldn't argue that there's any one ref who should go.

But clearly Eboue's head was not right. You saw Toure before talking to him, and after he lashed out at Modric, but Eboue's head had gone. Standing over the player he's just kicked?

Clichy had very little else he could have done. Good yellow.

9:15 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Now Clichy's gone into the book for a foul on Aaron Lennon.

9:15 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

For once, I agree with Ian Darke. Just get into the dressing room and sort yourselves out. Arsene will probably have to bring on someone as a holding player. Shame, because I would have loved to have seen both Eduardo and Arshavin bombing off the bench.

9:18 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Arshavin's arrival spells the end for Eboue. His contract is up at the end of the season. There was some talk that Real Vallecano offered 7M for him and you knew that was just talk. We'd have snapped their hand off if they'd offered that.

Eboue might be released, period I would think. There's no way back for him because he's not good enough to go on a tear of good form. He's done.

9:18 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Good hit, Palacios but easy for Manu to tip over to be fair.

9:19 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

That's right Bob, except we'd have that guy on the pitch now if he was in the squad.

Still, Wenger's too cautious to put both of them on.

9:19 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

£7 million would be great business for Eboue. Surely there's a Brazilian, Argentine or Congolese youngster who you could bring in for cheap to replace him. I'm sure that those DaSilva boys at ManYoo probably have eight identical brothers, right Davey?

9:21 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

0-0, that's as good as it gets for this performance.

I need another coffee.

9:21 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Who the hell is this in the studio? And what's with that accent?

9:22 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

This is definitely B-level coverage. I'm going to try another link.

9:23 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

We got some Aussies in the studio(maybe NZ)
I am going to try another link

9:23 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

We've got a stable of young guys who Wenger doesn't have confidence enough in. Merida looks very good, Mark Randall looks very good, and Jack Wilshere looks amazing. But Wenger's blind spot is defensive play. All of his defenders are picked on their ability to start and support an attack. Wenger's selection has alway displayed a disdain for defending.

9:25 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I'm having a listen to 606 from yesterday afternoon. I would have thought it would be all Liverpool fans but it's all Everton fans singing the praises of Jo.

9:27 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Probably South Africa
That's my old mate Gary Bailey

9:30 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I wish we had the Sky Coverage.... boy are we getting picky!!! We're watching it live!!!

9:32 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Now they call the NZ team the Black Caps

Maybe it is NZ after all.

Should I stop worrying about it.
I thought so

9:33 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I agree. Wenger's never been that keen on the ugly side of defensive work. He tends to bring in lots of creative players. The only big defensive I can remember that he's made was getting Sol Campbell from Spurs. When he first came in, Arsene had the benefit of several years with the fabled Arsenal back-four that George Graham had cultivated.

9:33 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

You're the only person on the planet who could still recognize Gary Bailey after all these years. Blimey! Who's the other geezer with him?

9:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

We're off

9:36 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Right - second half starting. Link #1 is Ian, Link #2 is in French and Link #3 is busted, so Ian it is.

9:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Which end is Spurs favorite to attack? They chose the sides because of the Sun

9:37 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Now Sagna's down after picking up a knock. That's not good!

9:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Paul Parker is the color man
Ex United right back

9:38 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

So no Darren Bent, no Huddlestone, no David Bentley for Spurs today, right?

9:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bentley is suspended

9:39 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I remember him being drafted in for the 1990 World Cup for England. It was his diagonal that Lineker finished off for the equalizer in the semis against the Germans.

9:41 AM

You never commented on the commentary line from yesterday, Dave.

Boro line up for a free-kick:

"It is Downing...and it is miserable." That's almost as good as the Harrison line IMHO.

Roman takes another shot and hits a perfect 'pass' to Lennon on the right wing!!

9:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Will #23 come on?

9:45 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

You know for all of Arsenal's woes this afternoon, Spurs really haven't had that many clear cut chances. Keano hasn't had a sniff yet.

9:45 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Damn, somebody give Nasri a shout that Lennon is closing in. That looked like we had them well stretched.

9:46 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Those long crosses are not going to work for Arsenal today. I agree with Paul Parker there.

9:47 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Keane heads just over!

9:48 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Keano's first chance and he puts it over the top. Lennon put that one on a plate.

9:48 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

What - Robbie Keane isn't good enough for Anfield, but David Ngog is? Laughable!

9:49 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Davey, I wouldn't count on it. Arshavin has only had one practice with the team because he had to go back to Russia to comply with the work permit. Add that the Russian season is on winter hiatus and that he's not played in over 30 days. And finally, add in that Wenger tends to be very, very cautious. Whether it's correct or not, he seems to believe that the 11 that start should finish if uninjured.

9:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good point. I knew the Russian season had been over for quite awhile.

9:51 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I agree. It's Rafa's failure as much as Keane's that he didn't succeed. That's a weird one.

9:51 AM

No there isn't time...

Whoooo!

Well, the unevolved half of North London will be disappointed that they didn't make more of that.

Arsenal showed good character to survive, but really had nothing going on up front. And Eboue spoiled another chance to get closer to Villa.

True to form, Wenger didn't throw either Arshavin or Eduardo into this one and that cost us points in the end.

Could have been much worse.

10:28 AM

I am pleased with United's team
I wish there was more firepower on the bench.
I guess Wayne isn't quite ready

I've just posted on Gooner's thread that I worry about the forward line not having enough goals in it. It's solid enough at the back and in mid-field. We don't miss Gerrard that much in the department. But what's the striking partnership in that squad - Crouch and Heskey perhaps?
