Liverpool vs. Chelski Live!
It's the umpteenth meeting between Liverpool and Chelsea this season, but these games are always full of interest. The winner potentially gets within two points of ManYoo at the top. The loser has to begin to doubt its championship hopes. A draw - probably the most plausible result - helps neither.

The Tyne-Tees derby has finished at 1-1, which keeps both Newcastle and Sunderland well and truly locked in the relegation battle. Goals from Djibril Cisse and a penalty from Shola Ameobi.
The teams:
Liverpool: Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Skrtel, Aurelio, Kuyt, Alonso, Mascherano, Riera, Gerrard, Torres
Chelski: Cech, Bosingwa, Alex, Terry, Cole, Ballack, Mikel, Lampard, Kalou, Anelka, Malouda
And we're away at Anfield...
Frantic start to the match amid snow flurries.
As per usual, Rafa has left Robbie Keane off the bench entirely. Ridiculous. And with the transfer window only hours away, that means real problems for the Reds.
Mascherano goes in nastily on Bollocks there and is lucky not to pick up the first yellow.
The game has yet to settle into a real pattern with a lot of furious ping pongy action to no real effect. No shots on goal so far.
Mascherano hacks Bollocks once again and still he's evaded the ref's attention. Honestly!
Ironically it's Javier Mascherano who fires in the first real strike in anger. He got some space about forty yards from goal and his shot had Cech scrambling.
Finally Mascherano gets his yellow. It's only twenty minutes in and the Argentinian could easily have been off for an early bath. He's a cynical nasty little player.
It's all gotten a bit niggly now Aurelio goes down under a heavy challenge. Mike Riley could lose control of this one.
Now it's Cashley's turn to put the elbow in Kuyt's ear and he picks up the second yellow card of the match.
Midway through the first half and it's been poor value for money so far. Very little entertainment out there.
Hi Bob
Dave told me to sign in and let you
know he would miss the first half
because the boys have flag football
or something . I will be in and out .
Though I do read all the comments .
Gerrard had a chance to pick out Torres but the cross was all wrong there.
Cheers, Chelskilad. Good luck to your Blues today.
Cech did just enough to keep Riera out.
Great block from Alex there on Torres who turned sharply to shoot on goal.
Half an hour in and Liverpool are finally starting to exert some concerted pressure. Chelski are coughing up the ball too often in midfield.
Coming up on half time here. The game's gone off the boil in the past five minutes with few chances. Liverpool have had the better of the first half but still 0-0.
By all accounts it's not a great game
so far . Hope for better in the
second half .
Hey Guys I am here
I give you a simple message Tony and you say Flag Football or SOMETHING!!
Long may this game stay this way
Yeah, I'd agree, Chelskilad. I'm back for the second half looking for some goals. I predicted a 1-1 for this one.
Morning, Dave! How was the "something?"
Torres has a shot luckily blocked
What is with Keane? He has to be going, no?
Snowing at Anfield
The boys had fun at Flag Football. They tied with Tom scoring a last second touchdown
Kathy said that Chelski had no shots during the first half. Is that true?
Foot was raised and his mouth was running but of course Stevie G doesn't get carded.
I called it something because I didn't
really know what it was . So there !!!
Red card for Lamps! What was that all about?
WHAT HAPPENED!!!
Lampard is off!!!
That helps me!!
I don't think he should be off
That seemed fifty/fifty. Both players lunged into the challenge.
And Terry booked for dissent. That keeps him out of the Cup match coming up. It just gets worse for Big Phil.
Well, well...Liverpool now have half an hour against ten men in front of the Kop. If they can't finish this one off, they just aren't capable of winning the title IMHO.
You called it FLAG FOOTBALL and that was exactly what it was
As for the red card, I think Gerrard's was just as bad or worse
Sky news think it was a dreadful
decision .
It is true - shots on goal were few and far between. If my memory serves, Mascherano had the only one that Cech had to save, with one from Torres blocked by Alex. Reina had nothing to do!
I feel this is going to make it harder for Costa.
Chelsea is going to bunker down
Free kick chance for Gerrard
Deliberate handball there from Mikel? He's already on a yellow and could have been off!
Pool setting up for a free kick in dangerous territory now. Gerrard takes and Terry blocks.
I feel that the decision will be changed after appeal.
He won't miss any games
Struth!!
Deflected on to the bar
Ooh, that was close. Again it was Alex to the rescue blocking Alonso's shot onto the bar. Cech was nowhere!
The Beeb thinks that Gerrard was lucky with his tackle
Drogs and Deco coming on for Malouda and Anelka
That's a bit ominous - Deco and Drogs off the bench. Malouda and Anelka have been pants. It's a very positive move from Big Phil given the situation. I'm surprised.
I thought Mascherano could have been off in the first twenty minutes!
Gerrard getting a card for diving
ABOUT TIME!!!
Send him off next time
Now it's a yellow for Gerrard for diving! Wow, Mike Riley is really going for the headlines tomorrow morning.
Tony , why aren't you watching it on adthe.net
There are three links to the coverage that we are watching on TV
I'd take a 0-0 here. That would give me fifteen points along with thirty for the earlier 1-1 draw. That'll put me back in the black for this weekend. I did particularly poorly yesterday. I should never bank on an Arsenal win, never.
Incredible block there from Mikel off the line.
I hope you're right
Here comes Rafa's usual sub - Benayoun. I don't know what he sees in him.
Chelsea's first shot on 74 minutes
That is not Championslike
Dave , don't forget I have an old
wind-up laptop . I don't seem to be
able to get anything worth watching .
Give it a good crank and give it a shot
Great effort by Yosi saved by Petre
I need the score to stay the same and Gerrard to get another yellow
ten to go
Chelsea don't look like they want to win!
United would still be going for a win even if they are down to ten men
I don't know, Dave. Big Phil keeps giving them the goose. Here comes another striker, Stoch, off the bench.
Why would anyone leave earlier from a match like this?
King Kenny in the crowd.
Decent crack from Kuyt; he's the kind of player that typically comes up with a big goal in a match like this. A Liverpool goal now would just about see off Chelski's challenge for the title IMHO.
bugger
GOAL! Torres with an instinctive header at the near post. He's won it for the Reds!
Petr Cech was definitely at fault there, not covering his near post. He just doesn't seem to be the dominant keeper that he was before his head injury.
WOW, Bosigna should be off
And what was that? Bosingwa raking his boot down the ankle. He could have gone off!
Five minutes of stoppage time. Can Chelski come back?
Come on, Drogs! It's hero time!
Bosingwa with an ambitious effort well wide. Not the best option.
The Kop in full song now. Tremendous noise from them.
And Torres seals it - he's got a brace! Game over!
Torres scores again.
So, Costa get the win
BRING IT ON RAFA
What was Cashley playing at there?
So Liverpool will end up on 51 points, two behind your United. Do you still have one game in hand, Davey?
I agree with the color commentator - why bring Fernando off now? He might nick in a hat-trick goal!
I had people drop by right when all the action happened.
Full-time: Liverpool 2-0.
It certainly is a score that flatters. They edged it, no doubt, but it could easily have been a draw there.
What a bore !!!
I really do hate costa !
I'm off to have some lunch and watch the Sunday wrap-up show. Have a good rest of your weekend, Dave? Are you back in school tomorrow or another snow day perhaps?
Sorry, Tony. Better luck next time. Cheerio, lads!
I hope I get a snow day on Tuesday
Take care Bob and Tony
Lampard's card certainly will be revoked once the Russian's lawyers appeal it tomorrow.
But Terry's card will stick and he's out.
And Bonsingwa's childish foot in the back might be reviewed if it doesn't feature in Riley's report.
But the money shot for this Gooner was seeing Cashley completely cock up and surrender the coup de grace goal for Torres. More of that from him, please.
