Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

In addition, I'll be following the handful of matches in Division 1, including my Leeds boys away to Leyton Orient.
Come on, you Whites!
The teams for United and Porto:
Porto team: Helton; Cristian Sapunaru, Bruno Alves, Rolando, Aly Cissokho; Lucho Gonzalez, Fernando, Raul Meireles; Lisandro Lopez, Hulk, Cristian Rodriguez. Subs: Nuno, Stepanov, Mariano Gonzalez, Costa, Madrid, Farias, Sektioui.
Porto certainly seem to have come to Old Trafford with a positive mindset as coach Jesualdo Ferreira has plumped for a three-man attack.
Man Utd team: Van der Sar; O'Shea, Evans, Vidic, Evra; Ronaldo, Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes, Park; Rooney. Subs: Foster, Neville, Eckersley, Nani, Giggs, Tevez, Macheda.
Nemanja Vidic, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney return from a domestic suspension, while Park Ji-sung is recalled. Gary Neville, Nani, Carlos Tevez and Ryan Giggs drop to the bench.
Bobby Pires has having a go at Arsene Wenger all week. He still has bad memories of the Champions League final in which he was sacrificed after Mad Jens was sent off. Will it have an influence tonight?
No Beckford for LUFC tonight as he picked up a knock on Saturday.
GOAL! And Porto have stunned the Old Trafford crowd by scoring inside five minutes!
It all stemmed from a poor clearance by Jonny Evans, who turned the ball out to Cristian Rodriguez. He cut into the box on his left-foot and curled a fine shot beyond the outstretched hand of Van der Sar into the bottom corner.
Park whips in a cross and it's cleared out for a corner.
Corner over to Carrick at the top of the box, who loses it.
Oh dear, it's not going well for the English sides so far. Villareal have taken the lead against Arsenal in the 7th minute. What's going on!?
Free kick here to Porto. "The Hulk" strikes it and it's out for a corner.
VDS collects the ball but is prevented from an early toss out.
Ronaldo with a header for United's first real chance of the night. Fine save from the keeper.
United's attack definitely not gelling again. What's happened to them in the past month? It's as if they've forgotten how to play.
Good noise coming from the OT faithful, desperately trying to buoy their side.
GOAL! Rooooooooon!
Rooney equalizes after a howler backpass from Alves straight to Roon, who slotted home easily. A gift.
1-1 Game on!
Extraordinary. United gives up two golden chances to Porto. They should be two or three-one down. What are Vidic and Evans playing at. They're marking like a Sunday pub team.
Oh dear, a Porto cross came over, Evans completely missed the header and there was no one to poke home. Wow!
Yesssss! Snodgrass scores for Leeds after 19 minutes!
0-1! And we're up into fourth hopping over the Dons with 74 points.
Ronaldo knocked off the ball far too easily. It's as if Porto want it more.
By the way, it was Marcos Senna with the goal for Villareal. Still 1-0 in Spain.
Morales takes a potshot that VDS had to tip over. Still very edgy in the United backline. This is not the cagey affair that we'd expected.
Rodriguez gets in again and heads it on goal. VDS with another save. He's gotten used to being an observer in United matches but he's earning his wages tonight.
O'Shea coughs up the ball in midfield and Rodriguez nearly puts Hulk in there.
Where are you, UWS? Your boys need you!
Fergie may need some heroics from new boy Macheda again at this rate.
Half an hour gone. Still 1-1 here at Old Trafford. 1-0 in Villareal.
You'd expect a side that scores that early at OT to go into their shell, but if anything Porto have looked the more likely to score a second.
Orient still haven't had a shot on goal after 35 minutes. A good sign for us.
Nani, Tevez and Old Man Giggs warming up on the touchline now.
Now it's Macheda up off the bench. If I were Fergie, I'd stick the kid on again in the second half. It was clear on Saturday that what he did was all instinct and muscle memory and that he'd have done exactly the same thing on the training pitch or in his backyard.
United are finally starting to click. Ronaldo stuck a nice ball over and it was Scholes who was the unlikely first man to the header.
Coming up on half time. Neither English side can be completely satisfied with the state of affairs but neither is out of it.
Lucho is getting far too much space right in front of United's box.
One added minute to come.
The teams are out for the start of the second half.
No changes made by either manager at half time. Let's see how long that stays.
Leeds start the second half 0-1 up. More of the same in the second half please, lads!
A nervy parry out there from VDS. I don't know what he was playing at.
Porto are having another real go at the United backline again in the early stages.
Great shot from Park but it's collected by the keeper.
Only one shot from Leyton Orient in 50 minutes of play. We've kept a lot of clean sheets lately. I'd love to see another one today.
Wide open match now at Old Trafford.
Still 1-0 Villareal in the other CL fixture tonight.
United have a good free kick chance just as Giggs replaces Park.
Giggs takes the free kick and it's cleared out.
Brilliant chipped effort from Rooney just tipped over by Ailton.
Vidic heads toward goal from the corner and it's cleared out.
I've just switched over to Setanta coverage of the Arsenal match on Atdhe.
Adebayor goes close with a header. Lou Macari says that it's better going from the Gunners in the second half.
1-1 would be an excellent result for Arsenal if they can just nick a goal.
It's all Arsenal going forward here.
Walcott was forced a bit too wide by Nasri. Shame, that was a great chance.
GOAL! And that's the goal that Arsenal needed. Adebayor is the man. He scored twice at the weekend and he's got the crucial away goal for the Gunners.
Long ball to Adebayor with his back to goal and he whipped an overhead. Fantastic technique!
Lovely - it's a second goal for Snodgrass. And we're 1-2 up now.
And Orient have had a man sent off. They're down to ten men. We just need to see out these last fifteen minutes now.
Back on the United match in time to see a great ball over that just misses out Roon.
Tevez on now for United.
Hulk vs. Hulk over there by the touchline.
Twelve minutes to go at Old Trafford. Derek Rae is asking if there's going to be another dramatic "denouement" to this match and the ESPN2 audience are scratching their heads and reaching for their dictionaries.
The goalscorer Rodriguez trots off to be replaced by Gonzales.
Under ten minutes now in tonight's matches and I've got to head off to my class. Over and out!
Sorry I wasn't around Bob.
I was at a faculty meeting and then the college
I did see most of the second half from my classroom.
Very very disappointing! I thought we were going to get a jolt for Sunday's game but apparently not.
I was chuffed to get that late undeserved goal but stunned by the equalizer. How do you leave someone WIDE OPEN at the back post!! If we get back to old selves, we are capable of winning in Porto.
As for your lot, not good at all. Two nil up and against ten men??
Steve, I guess you will be pleased with your result. You should get the win at home.
Hope a better weekend for all of us
Cheers,
UWS
