Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

RIP Sir Bobby Robson 1933-2009

I was saddened to hear this morning of Sir Bobby Robson's death at age 76 after a long bout with cancer. Sir Bobby was a former pro but, of course, rose to fame with the Ipswich Town side of the 70s. He also took England within a goalpost of reaching the 1990 World Cup finals, the closest that the Three Lions have been since 1966. He'll be missed.

Hey Guys.
Sorry I haven't been around lately. I have been internetless!!
We moved out of the old house on Wednesday and didn't move into the new house until Friday.
I saw the news about SBR. Very sad. I always think of him as a young manager at Ipswich. That behind the scenes show at Portman Road with him taking a golf tee shot and whiffing!! Of course, Eric Gates swearing away was fun too.

I just happened to be on atdhe last weekend and there was the 1990 World Cup Semi Final reunion at St. James' Park. He was pushed out in a wheelchair and shook every players hand and got a standing ovation.

Very sad. As a youth, I disliked SBR, of course, but only because I was jealous of the success Ipswich enjoyed while my Hammers languished in the First, and then Second, Division. His results speak volumes to his ability as a coach and assessor of talent. Missed indeed. Rest in peace, SBR.
