USA vs. Mexico Live!
Bob Bradley's plucky young side have made their way through to a Gold Cup final match-up with their main CONCACAF rivals Mexico. It'll be an interesting tune-up for the real business of a World Cup qualifier against El Tri in the Azteca later in the summer. Join me for all the fun from 3 p.m. on FSC.

The teams for today:
USA: Perkins, Heaps, Marshall, Goodsen, Pearce, Holden, Beckermann, Pause, Rogers, Arnaud, Ching.
Mexico: Ochoa, Juarez, Valenzuela, Magallon, Pinto, Medina, Torrado, Castro, Castro, Dos Santos, Sabah.
And we're off. I'm hoping for a quick start to shut up the Ole chorus in Giants Stadium.
I don't rate this Mexican forward line at all. A bunch of lightweights.
I was chatting with Gooner the other day about which one these Gold Cup squaddies will likely make the WC squad next summer. We're agreed on Perkins as the third choice keeper, Ching as a utility striker and Pearce as a utility defender. Gooner's keen on Beckermann as a useful squad midfielder. I don't see it yet.
First real attack from El Tri. Decent cross over from Corrado but it's cleared out reasonably comfortably.
I don't see nayone in midfield controlling the match for the US yet.
Decent run by Pearce earns a first corner for the US.
Beckermann was a bit greedy there. He took a pop when he could have fed Arnaud.
Good free kick opportunity here. Ching says, "On me head, boys!"
The free kick goes over and is knocked out for a corner. Good pressure here from the lads.
Big let off there for Mexico. If Ching weren't such a statue, he'd have put the US 1-0 up.
The Mexican partisans have at least been somewhat quietened by this period of pressure. Goodsen is down receiving treatment.
Goodsen loping back on now. I was hoping he'd go off and be replaced by Parkhurst.
Holden keeps trying to Ching on the break but Brian's far too slow to get onto those long balls over the top.
What ever happened to Nery Castillo. Decent little player, that kid.
Heaps and Holden got in each other's way on the end of that cross from Pearce.
Jay Heaps picks up the first booking of the match for lunging in there.
And another yellow card is brandished to Logan Pause for sticking the ball in the net after the whistle had already gone.
Oh, Stuart Holden should have at least tested the keeper with that shot from eighteen yards. First big chance.
Beckermann hasn't put his shooting boots on for today. Another wild effort.
A half hour into this one and it's still 0-0.
Harkesy makes a silly point about how he doesn't rate teams as A or B or C. Ridiculous. It's obvious that Bob Bradley has put out a C team for this tournament as a way to blood some youngsters and test out some people who might make it into the squad for next summer.
I'm starting to nod off a bit after a big lunch. We need a goal to liven up proceedings.
The game's really gone off the boil.
The US scored at the death in the semi against Honduras. Same again please, lads.
Ching and Arnaud are far too static together. Maybe Charlie Davies is the foil for a big man up there whether Jozy or Ching.
Marshall did really well to track back to quash the threat from Medina.
My apologies to John Harkes - I've just realized that, of course, it's Christopher Sullivan doing the FSC color today.
Three minutes of stoppage time to play here.
Medina get a yellow card for encroachment at the free kick.
Oh, that was the best chance for Mexico. Dos Santos, who's been the most likely for El Tri, fed Medina who blazed well wide. Good positioning from Perkins there.
Half-time: 0-0. Sullivan "loves this first half," but he's about the only one. Very cagey, with few chances. Hoping for better in the second.
Well, this is all very disappointing. Since I tuned out at half time in favor of a good chinwag with the Gooner, Mexico have racked up a four goal advantage. Sure, it's the C team, but you don't like to get done over on home soil before a crucial qualifier.
Full-time: 5-0. Dismal.
