Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I'm back at my break. With about fifteen minutes gone, all the matches are currently at 0-0. Not an inspiring start to the CL this season.
UWS will not doubt be focusing his attention on United's trip to Turkey today to take on Besiktas.
The United side for today:
Foster, Neville, Jonathan Evans, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Anderson, Nani, Rooney.
Subs: Kuszczak, Brown, Owen, Berbatov, Park, Fabio Da Silva, Gibson.
I'm back at the tail end of proceedings after my class. United are in the enviable position of holding a 0-1 lead in the 87th minute. And it's bad boy Paul Scholes with the goal on 77 minutes.
Chelsea are also 1-0 up at Stamford Bridge against Porto. Goal by Le Sulk.
Michael Owen has squandered a golden opportunity to add to United's lead on 89 minutes. The boy just can't buy a goal these days.
Bayern have put the hammer down away to Maccabi Haifa with a goal from Van Buyten and a brace from Muller.
Wolfsburg has scored an impressive 3-1 win in their CL debut, a hat-trick from Batista Grafite.
A real humdinger at FC Zurich. Real have sneaked it 2-3 with goals from Ronaldo, Raul, and Hilguain.
AC Milan have also squeaked out an away win against Marseille with a brace from the evergreen Inzaghi.
The three minutes of added time have come and gone in Turkey. Not a pretty win for United but it's three points nonetheless. A professional win to open their campaign.
I think the story of today is the utter dominance of the big clubs. I can't see an upset among the fixtures. Wins for United, Chelski, Real, AC, and Bayern. Those must all be favorites to go through to the next stage already.
By the way, there was a cracking highlight show on FSC last night at midnight. Definitely worth a look for all you night owls.
I'm going to continue this thread for today's matches. Liverpool host CL new boys Debrecen at Anfield, while Arsenal travel to Belgium for their opening match against Standard Liege.
I am here coming up to half time
Costa scoreless at home
Arsenal losing two nil!!
Hey mate. I'm here during my break and the English clubs are not looking too terribly clever. Come on, lads. Pull your fingers out!
Costa are on FSC
Arsenal are on the computer
ooh, SG hits one just wide running in the box
HOW IS ALWAYS OPEN!!!
I never understand that. Someone should be in his shorts all game long
BTW, pleased with my result last night
Didn't see it or hear about it until I got home from class
ARSENAL GET A GOAL BACK at the beginning of injury time!!
Bendtner with the goal.... and so does COSTA!
Kuyt with the goal
Good minute for the English teams
It is half time in Belgium and Merseyside
The Arse fell behind by two points inside FIVE minutes but that goal will do them a world of good
Half time scores
Dynamo Kiev 0 Rubin Kazan(?) 1
Inter 0 Barcelona 0
Costa 1 Debrecen 0
Lyon 0 Fiorentina 0
Olypmiakos 0 AZ Alkmar 0
Sevilla 1 Unirea Urziceni 0
Standard Liege 2 Arsenal 1
Stuttgart 1 Rangers 0
Newcastle gave away a last minute equalizer in the first half at Blackpool
Both games are underway again
last time Standard and the Arse played in Europe
Arsenal won 10-0 on agg
Struth... Arsenal almost concede immediately... very sloppy
Bendtner could have time it up!
Saving tackle!
SG volleys one just over the bar
no second half goals yet from any game tonight
25 minutes to go
It is not very impressive stuff in either of the games I am watching
These group games have become hopeless and mostly meaningless as of late
The Toon are losing at Blackpool with 20 to go
Arsenal's crosses have been hopeless.
I have also Fabregas take two free kicks and sailed them both straight out of play
15 to go
Dynamo have tied it up
2115: Thierry Henry's scuffed shot from the Barca left falls perfectly for Lionel Messi, but he and Xavi get in each other's way and the chance goes begging. Barca have had a remarkable 63% possession tonight in Inter's back yard.
A big scramble in the box and Arsenal get it in
Looks like two guys are off side!
One of them puts it in
The first free kick that was given wasn't
Rangers get the tying goal
Eduardo goes so close to giving the Arse the lead
The goal was a handball.... now Arsenal take the lead
Off Eduardo's left kneecap!
3-2 Arsenal
2 goals in three minutes for the Arse
13 different goalscorers this season for the Arse!
Under 5 to go
Injury time
Very low key at Anfield!
Hurrah for the English! Well done, lads!
Lyon are beating Fiorentina 1-0
Sevilla are two up
2131: So unlucky for Rangers. Steven Davis finds himself 20 yards from goal and unleashes a cracking low shot which beats Jens Lehmann but comes off the outside of the po
Kiev are 2-1 up
Make that 3-1
Olympiackos have beaten AZ 1-0
Arsenal have won 3-2
A win after being behind by 2 within 5 minutes
Costa have won 1-0
I am off to pick up the boys
Talk to everyone on the weekend
Cheers, Dave. I missed most of it today, unfortunately, but I should be around for the festivities at the weekend.
