Ukraine v. Greece is about to start. I've got a nice Atdhe stream up that seems to be an Aussie version of ESPN. Teams enjoying the anthems as I type.

Oh dear - Sheva completely whiffed on a decent chance there.
And there's another big miss for the former Chelski man. The shot came in and he merely had to tap in the parry.
Nearly half an hour in and it's still deadlocked. The Ukrainians would have loved to have got that early goal to settle the nerves. An away goal at this stage would make things very dicey for the home side.
GOAL! And there it is. Samaras threaded it through nicely to his teammate Salpingidis who tucked it in delicately. A massive goal for Greece there.

I'm back at my break and Greece are on their way to SA 2010! A shock 0-1 result that must certainly put the lid of Andrei Shevchenko's international career.
The other regularly scheduled matches have started. All are at 0-0 currently with about twenty minutes gone.
The U.S. are also playing a friendly this evening in Denmark. They're currently 0-1 up. Not sure of the scorer yet. This seems to be on ESPN right now.
Austria took a shock 1-0 lead against Spain. But Torres and Villa have hit back quickly and they're currently 1-2 up.

I just got back after sneaking out to see Algeria pip Egypt in their playoff in Sudan. Complete madness. 17K spectator surrounded by 15K police and probably a bunch of those janjaweed rapists too.
The tackles were complete horror show from the off, yet only one guy got booked the whole game. If the match had been correctly timed, they'd have needed to play an extra half just to fit in the time it took to wheel on the white Red Crecent golf cart on and off the pitch.
Tell you what, no-one will want Algeria in their group. They don't half enjoy the scrum up front when they've got a set piece and they have a left back who can put a zippy ball on a dime from 40 yards away.
I'd luv it, luv it, if Algeria drew Germany in the first round. Tasty.

This Ireland score does me just fine. Domenech could not possible survive not qualifying, and denying Sagna, Diaby, Clichy, and Nasri an opportunity to knobble themselves or knowing looks from those Spanish criminals suits me just fine. Sick of them preying on our squad.

Just read on Soccernet that TH said to the ref that it was a handball and the ref said that he wasn't the referee. I think he is talking out of his left ear. After the ball went in, TH was sprinting behind the goal!!
