Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

My predictions for today:

Brum 2 West Ham 0 (Sorry Johnno)
Bolton 1 Citeh 3
Burnley 1 Fulham 1
Chelski 3 Everton 0
Hull 0 Blackburn 1
Sunderland 2 Pompey 0
Spurs 3 Wolves 0
United 2 Villa 0
Lovely stream for Soccer Saturday up and running through VSS.
The chat about early match - Stoke v. Wigan - is all about that notorious bust-up in the Stoke camp this week, which led to manager Tony Pulis head-butting striker James Beattie. Apparently it all stemmed from Beattie being arsed off that the Christmas shopping trip he'd organized for the players and WAGS had been called off by Pulis in lieu of an extra training session. Ridiculous!
Stoke and Wigan have kicked off at the Brittania. No early match in the Division 1 - I checked this time, Dave!
As expected, Tony Pulis has left James Beattie on the bench and has started with Ricardo Fuller and Tugay up front.
No Delap hairy belly today. As Stoke are at home, they have the patented Delap towels at the ready for the long throw.
GOAL! Rodiega seems to have forced the ball over the line. Some confusion about whether it's been allowed because he plowed over the keeper as he did so. Actually it was Emerson Boyes that finally scored. Sorenson's down injured now - I think he was caught in the face.
But it does stand. 0-1 Wigan!
That goal brings Wigan level with their hosts just below mid-table in that area of the division that means very little. It's doubtful that either club will face real relegation pressure. At the same time, they won't really challenge for any honors.
Wigan definitely deserve their lead. As we approach the half hour mark, they're really going at Stoke. Pulis will be head butting several players at half time.
Stoke crowd really getting on their side now. Natives are restless.
GOAL! Well, I didn't see that coming.
Tuncay levels it with a shot from an acute angle that looked to beat the Wigan keeper at his near post.
1-1 Game on!
They could all stop playing now for my liking. That would be a 30 point start to my weekend. Lovely!
N'Zogbia goes close to putting Wigan back in front with a swinging free kick that had Sorenson scrambling.
Into stoppage time now in the first half.
Hey Bob,
sorry about your no cable. I don't understand the internet available!!
1-1 coming to the end of the half
So, how much snow did you get?
And now goalscorer Tuncay has gone into the book for too much chat.
Morning, Dave!
We were getting 1-2 inches an hour yesterday for a total accumulation of about 20 inches. There were some elevated areas around here that got 3 feet! How about you?
Bloody Hell!
We got 10 inches on Wednesday for our snow day. Now it is just bitterly cold!
Unfortunately, we had job candidates coming in all week. So I had to drive up to the Buffalo airport on Thursday to pick one up. It was 10 miles/hour, white knuckling it through almost total whiteout for two hours coming home. Frightening!
Half-time: 1-1 after all that sturm and drang. James Beattie jogging off from the bench looking as if he'd like to come on after half time. Any thoughts about the Pulis/Beattie bout, Dave?
Struth!
Couldn't you have just cancelled the visit until next week?
I remember driving from Cortland to Scotia to visit Kathy in a blizzard. Cars were going off the road all of the place. It was in the dark but the moon was out. You could not see the road with your lights on because of the light reflecting off the snow. I had to drive with my lights off!!
A three hour trip took SIX
SEE YOU JIMMY!
Couldn't do it. We need to get someone in before Patterson cuts 90 million out of the SUNY budget in January. Otherwise it might be another two years before we get a chance to hire someone.
Way hay - cable's back on. I'm watching the half-time show with the Onion Bag and Ribbie Mustoe.
Wigan have made one change at half time. Emerson Boyce has come off and former Chelski scrub Scott Sinclair has come on.
Stoke have come out charging in the second half, Huth winning a corner.
back from errands... I am off to Jon's basketball game at 9:15. I will be back for the second half of the 3 o'clocks.... Leeds should be two up at Brentford by that time
Oooh, that was very close from Sharner. He's definitely a threat from set pieces, despite the silly haircut.
You're a busy Dad, today. Are the roads passable?
The commentator nearly referred to Robert Huth there as a "Berlin Wall" and caught himself and said "German Wall" instead. Makes no sense but perhaps more p.c.
Ooh, now Stoke go close. Fuller was straight in, mishit his shot and Tuncay was inches away from getting on the end of it.
I am off
Our roads are clear as a baby's bottom
We've reached the hour mark and still no breakthrough here at the Brittania. Suits me just fine.
Drive safely, mate. Talk to you in a a couple of hours.
James Beattie loosening up on the touchline now.
GOAL! Wow - a tremendous goal there for Wigan!
A free kick was given away by Stoke in midfield. Figueroa saw Sorenson off his line and stepped up quicked and lobbed it over him and into the net Beckham style.
1-2 Wigan!
GOAL! Shortcross nods home for Stoke from a corner. They're back in biz. The game has sprung to life.
This 2-2 scoreline would still bring in a 15 point start for me. I'll take it.
Here comes James Beattie...back from the head butt wilderness.
Inside the last ten minutes here - is there a twist in the tale?
Ricardo Fuller coming off now...
Into stoppage time now at the Britannia. Looks like I will bag those fifteen points.
Al Faye chops down N'Zogbia just inches outside the penalty area. Last chance for Wigan to snatch a win here.
Full-time: 2-2 - for a fairly meaningless mid-table match-up it was a fairly absorbing affair. ESPN2's luck with the fixtures continues.
I'm off to the FSC preview show now.
In L1, my Leeds boys are four points up on Charlton with a game in hand. We're away to Brentford, Charlton are away to bottom of the table Stockport and Colchester are off today.
FSC are setting up to show Bolton v. Citeh.
Morning, Bob & Dave. I imagine Dave had more motivation to reach Kathy than Bob did to reach his interviewee.
15 points here, but you blew the West Ham match.
Morning, Bob & Dave. I imagine Dave had more motivation to reach Kathy than Bob did to reach his interviewee.
15 points here, but you blew the West Ham match.
Looks like our first choice XI for today, with Beckford and Becchio up front together, plucky Max Gradel backing them up with Snoddy out wide left.
Morning, WHS! Good to have you on board. Sorry about the West Ham prediction but I don't fancy your boys today.
I don't suppose West Ham is on the telly today?
Sky are still wrapping up the Stoke v. Wigan match. Get on with SS!
Unfortunately not, mate. It's Bolton v. Citeh on FSC and United later at 12:30. Arsenal v. Liverpool on at 11 tomorrow.
There's a good stream for the Brum v. Hammers match here:

The 10 am kickoffs have started...
Friends of mine in WNY say that was one fierce storm. In and out most of today. Popping in to say hello.
About time Fortune scored!
Wow! Spurs are down to Wolves early on - I didn't expect that. Jody Craddock header there.
Morning, Someone. Yeah - it was brutal up here. I'm bunkering in for the weekend after having to trek around in the snow for several days for work. I'm knackered!
Kevin Nolan is back from suspension today and he produces a neat finish to give Championship leaders Newcastle a 1-0 lead at Barnsley.
I have to pop off . . . Have a wonderful Saturday everyone . . . I'll check in later.
Good win for your Celtic boys. As you mentioned, Fortune with the winning goal.
Cheerio, Johnno!
Another shock scoreline! Everton have taken the lead at Chelski! Looks like an o.g. from Cech.
No goals yet in Bolton's clash against Manchester City on the box as Gary Megson hopes for a change in fortunes for the Trotters.
Jon Stead is the early hero for Ipswich as he gives them a 1-0 lead over in-form Blackpool.
Walsall are 0-1 up at Millwall, a goal that puts them up into the play-off spots.
Saha's header off the free kick kind of doinked in off the post and Cech.
I'll take it!
Now to hold the lead on the road.
GOAL! It looks like Ivan Klasnic is offside but he knocks the ball home and the goal counts as Bolton take the lead against Manchester City.
Plenty of few shocks currently on the cards in the Premier League.
Good day for you, so far, Someone. I'd love to see the Toffees beat Chelski today.
Bugger! Charlton take the lead at Stockport. They're up to 45 points, two behind us now.
Drogba scores a scorcher to peg Everton back. Sorry, Someone. That was a big of magic from Chelski and Drogs.
1-1
Fifteen minutes gone and still scoreless at Brentford.
Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has an appeal for a penalty turned down as he tumbles under Everton defender Johnny Heitinga's challenge. Decent shout but the referee waves play-on.
Nic Anelka sticks one into the top of Everton's net and it's 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Darren Bent scores for Sunderland. 1-0 at the Stadium of Light.
Yeovil have taken the lead over Norwich. That's good for us.
Still no goals in Birmingham v West Ham but the Blues have been the better side so far as they bid to continue their great start to the season.
Carlito has evened things up for Citeh at Bolton.
Jeff Stelling is cock a hoop. Hartlepool are 2-0 up!
Tottenham are failing to impress against Wolves as they trail 1-0 at White Hart Lane.
I am here... why did you have to talk about an Everton win!!
Leeds in total control but no goals yet at Brentford.
Sorry, mate. I jinxed it! Welcome back!
Still not goals at Brentford?
No goals as yet. I've got the lucky Leeds shirt on. Will be taking it off in the second half if need be.

Manchester City are now on top at Bolton as they bid to build on Carlos Tevez's equaliser. It is 1-1 at the Reebok Stadium.
Morning, Chelskilad. I have no idea what's going on with the Blogger function. I could email the administrator about it for you.
Hey Big Bruv!

Jeff's not happy - Southend have pegged Hartlepool back to 2-2.
Burnley tie it up with Fulham... sorry Tony
Norwich have tied it up at Yeovil
Scores not going well for Leeds so far
There's still time
Norwich have equalized against Yeovil.

Was he booked for asking for a yellow for the other bloke?
Everton tie it up again!!!

Half an hour left for Leeds to win this one. Come on, you Whites!
I disagree with Chris K. It wasn't a foul
3-3 at Stamford Bridge! Luis Saha with the goal.

Reading these posts . . Banjo boys scores, Noble off . . . is thoroughly DEPRESSING . . . I watched a little online . . . we were being pinned back the entire first half by Birmingham . . . friggin awful. . . When I was 9, why couldn't my AYA team have been Arsenal?
MK Dons take the lead
Hey John
They have dominated in the second half
Norwich down
Hull and Blackburn end scoreless
Forget Arsenal... how about the REALL UNITED
Leeds only draw... sorry mate... still not a loss
Chelsea still not winning!
Norwich tie it up!
Pompey score in injury time
Full time at Brentford - 0-0. Two more dropped points in the league. Not happy. Our lead now down to two points. Fortunately, Yeovil have pulled out a late, late win.
The Pompey player is off for taking the shirt off!!
Spurs have been beaten at WHL against Wolves
The Draw Masters have done it again
3-3
What a nonsense. Kabboul scores a late, late equalizer for Pompey, he takes off his shirt in his celebration and gets sent off. Absurd!
Lamps hits one just wide!!
Pompey and Sunderland draw
Burnley 1 Fulham 1
