Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
71 Comments:
In the early match CSKA Moscow and Sevilla have drawn 1-1. So it's advantage to the Spanish side in the fixture.
There are four FA Cup 5th round replays this evening as well:
Villa v. Palace
Stoke v. Citeh
Spurs (should be Leeds) v. Bolton
WBA v. Reading
Channel 1 of VSS coming through bright and strong at the moment. Way hay!
Teams in the tunnel now. All the chatter is about the Mourinho effect.
Ah, the San Siro - it's one of the great citadels of world football and it is buzzing tonight.
Kick off time!
Honestly, if you can't get excited about a match like this, you just don't really like footer that much, do you?
Cracking atmosphere at the start of the match.
Blimey! Julio Cesar was in a car accident with his Masserati at the weekend and he's showing the afters on his face.
GOAL! Only three minutes in and Inter's leading scorer Milito opens the scoring here. You might fault Cech for not covering his near post, but then again he was completely exposed there.
1-0 Inter!
That's exactly the start that we would have wanted in this tie. It opens the match up nicely. Inter might try to "bolt the door," but we all know the risks of doing that with Chelski. They have too many weapons.
First yellow card goes to Inter's Thiago Motta for a high boot on Mr. Bollocks.
Kalou did well there to skip through a couple of challenges but his final shot was straight at the Julio Cesar.
Lucio is also having a montrous night putting in big tackles on Malouda and Kalou early on. Inter very definitely on the back foot at this point.
Eto'o tries a Van Basten effort from a narrow angle and it just never was going to come off, was it?
Bollocks picks up a useful free kick there.
OOOOH - Drogba hit a vicious shot that wreaked havoc on the crossbar. Julio Cesar was in no man's land there. What a let off for Inter!
Two early goals in that WBA v. Reading match. 1-1 at the Hawthorns.
Drogba turned well there but he was unbalanced when he tried to finish.
Milito is looking for a penalty and he only earns himself a yellow card. Rightly so. No contact and he's trying to con the ref. Well done, ref.
And here's another yellow card - Kalou goes into the book for a rash one.
Oh, Drogba hits a lovely volley and he was mighty close to an equalizer.
Lucio again cleaning up there after Maicon has let Kalou blow by him.
Mikel tries a pop but it's well handled by Cesar.
Oh - big let-off for Chelski. They were ripped apart but Eto'o swung and missed when he seemed more likely to score.
Hey Bob,
I am here and not here. I am working on our mudroom with tiling. I did have a snow day. Nasty storm yesterday
Just put on a soccer special thanks to Justin
Oh dear - Chelski were done in again and Cech was saved by a heavy touch from Maicon.
Welcome, Dave! Glad to hear that you're weathering the storm well. Cracking match going on at the San Siro.
Five minutes left of an enthralling half.
Eto'o caught offside there. He's looked a bit off his game tonight.
Roman Pavlyuchenko has shot Spurs into the lead at Shite Fart Lane. Should be Leeds in that tie, of course.
Only one added minute to this first half. Chelski need to sort themselves out at the interval. They've been ripped apart at times. They could be two or three down.
Well, well, well. Kalou went down looking for a penalty there. The ref waves him off but there's no yellow card.
Ref blows for half time while there are still whistles going around the stadium.
The replay shows that Samuel caught the back of Kalou's heel. Should have been a spotkick IMHO.
I'm off to set up my classroom. Back in a tick.
SS says that was a stonewall penalty. I disagree
Spurs are two up
You didn't see contact there? I thought so.
A Jaaskelainen own goal has made it 2-0 Spurs now.
Gabby Ags has opened the scoring for Villa against Palace.
Butch Wilkins sounds like Chelski still think that they can get back into this one tonight. Definitely, the tie is far from over.
All to play in the second half. Unfortunately, I've got to run up to a 4 pm class. Enjoy it, mate!
Take Care Bob
Bloody Teaching!
Chelsea equalize!
Kalou with a placed shot but the keeper should have easily saved it
Advantage Chelsea

We could have three out of the four replays go to extra time
Reading's goal was in the final minute
All over in Italy
Inter Milan 2 Chelsea 1
That should be okay for Chelsea
Another penalty at Villa Park... this time for the hosts
Carew slots it home

Citeh were supposed to be the losing Finalist?? They beat Boro and the team that has beaten Boro have lost in the Final for FIVE straight years!
Under 10 to go for the USA to make the Hockey Semis
I am just all over the sporting world tonight!
2159: The Stoke fans are signing "You'll be sacked in the morning" to Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini. I wonder if he understands - I mean, football chants are hard to make out at the best of times.
The United banner will be able to tick over another year
35 years and still counting for another trophy
USA under a minute from a 1 nil victory
USA score an empty netter with 18 seconds left
They are in the semi final
Reading have beaten WBA.
They are in the quarter finals for the first time in 83 years
They will host Villa
Stoke City have beaten Man Citeh 3-1
Where is Sparky Hughes when you need him???

UWS
Thanks for the Wide, Wide World of Sports coverage there, UWS!
So I'd say advantage Chelski both in the Cup and now in their second leg in the CL against Inter.
