Time to Stop the Rot!
Sure, there are other matches on today - including a make up match for United against the Hammers - but in my little alternate universe, all eyes will be on Elland Road this afternoon as Grayson's boys try to get our season back on track against Oldham. I hope that they're wearing their best pink kit today.
Whatever match you're watching, join me for the banter.

In other League 1 action this evening, table toppers Norwich City host Southend.
A word to "Yellows:" I promise to be good this afternoon and won't be insulting you, Delia or the Canaries. If you're around, join us for some good-natured chat.
There's a bit of blather on the websites today about ManYoo fans either turning up to protest the Glazer situation or just boycotting tonight's match altogether. Apparently there's some push to get supporters to wear green and yellow. I'm not quite sure what that means beyond the fact that it's not traditional Red Devil colors. Are those the colors that the non-league alternative side sport? Maybe UWS and MUR can resolve those questions later. Should be a fascinating night at Old Trafford.
In Europa League news, Benfica are through to the fourth round after hammering Hertha Berlin 4-0 earlier today. The rest of those fixtures come up on Thursday.
Very interesting line-up for Leeds tonight. The out of favor Becchio and Snodgrass are back in the starting eleven, while Gary McSheffrey - who had a rotten match at the weekend - drops to the bench.
Most importantly, big Patrick Kisnorbo is back anchoring the defense with Richard Naylor. We've sorely missed him over the past month.
Almost kick-off time now. No lucky Leeds shirt for me today. Just the mantra of "three points" running through my head.
No link for the Leeds match today so I'm going to have to satisfy myself with the text on the LUFC site and Football Weekly in the background.
There is supposed to be a link on VSS but the first one goes through to the CL match between Stuttgart and Barca and the second one is professional wrestling.
Kick-off time!
Come on, you Whites!
Three points...three points...three points.
Sir Alex Ferguson makes five changes for United following Saturday's shock 3-1 setback at Everton, with Ben Foster a surprise inclusion.
Four early goals in L1:
Hartlepool are 1-0 over Carlisle
Swindon are 1-0 over Stockport
Huddersfield are 0-1 away to Tranmere
Yeovil are 0-1 away to Walsall
JB shoots wide of goal. That's been a predictable pattern recently.
I'm hoping again for an early goal to settle the nerves at Elland Road.
Carlisle have equalized while Gillingham are now 1-0 up to Orient.
I've just noticed that third placed Colchester aren't playing today. That will bring them level with us on games then.
Charlton meanwhile are at home to lowly Brighton and will hope to jump over Colchester into third again.
Kick-off time at Old Trafford. I'm still looking for a working link.
Channel 2 on VSS is now working for the United match, albeit with Dutch commentary.
I'm slammed today but I wanted to pop in just to wish Leeds well today.
Cheers, mate! I'll catch up with you later.
Still 0-0 in all the key L1 matches after a quarter of an hour.
Crikey - Valencia was nearly in there.
Jonny Howson shoots wide of goal.
Millwall are 0-1 up at the Dons.
Snoddy hits one that's fumbled by the tubby Oldham keeper....
Martyn Tyler commentating on the match from OT on Channel 3 now.
Anderson has hobbled off for some treatment...
He's back on but still limping a bit.
A lot of fans in green and yellow scarves right behind Fergie. That's an interesting sign.
The Hammers are knocking it about nicely without actually posing any threat to the United backfour.
Nearly half an hour gone in the L1 fixtures. 0-0 in the ones that matter.
Hartlepool now 2-1 up against Carlisle.
Now Anderson is signaling that he'll need to come off.
United down to ten men temporarily.
Snoddy shoots just wide of goal.
Lock up your poodles, ladies. Here comes Park Ji-Sung.
It doesn't seem a dirty match but the referee at Elland Road has already given out four yellow cards, one for Leeds and three for Oldham.
Stuttgart have taken a shock lead against Barca in that first leg of the CL Second Round tie.
Behrami shoots just wide of goal. Close call that for United.
Foster had an awkward one to catch there. Did well.
Channel 3 has frozen but Channel 2 is back up and running with the Dutch commentary.
Coming up on the half-hour mark at Old Trafford and the ManYoo faithful, who look a bit like Norwich fans tonight, are getting mighty restless.
Remarkable triple save there by Rob Green.
The cameras have found a rat burrowing in one of the technical areas. Either that or Gianfranco Zola has found a way to transform himself into a rodent.
Oldham's tubby keeper saves well from Mickey Doyle. We're knocking on the door but could really use a goal before the interval. Just five minutes left plus stoppage time.
I am here and I can't find a good link. I have a VSS link going but it a foreign language. Doesn't matter. I have SS on
Charlton losing
Way hay - Brighton have taken a shock lead away to Charlton. We've been fortunate to have caught Charlton in a bit of a slump recently.
Hey mate - welcome!
I've been trying Channel 3, which had Martyn Tyler on earlier but Channel 2 with the Dutch geezer is your best link right now. Atdhe is down altogether.
That's what I found
Hartlepool now 3-1 up and somewhere Jeff Stelling is "feeling good."
Norwich are losing!!!
Any thoughts about the green and yellow Norwich City look that United fans are sporting tonight?
Wow! That's tremendous!
We need a goal and we'll be smiling!
in the Cl
Olympiakos 0 Bordeaux 1
Stuttgart 1 Barca 0
Swindon winning
The Neviller is getting a bollocking after taking a cheap shot at Rob Green.
Some very strange results in the air tonight, as Phil Collins would say.
Can you imagine Barca going out to Stuttgart at this stage?
His career has never been the same since he was fouled by Gary Speed
SS is exactly the same as my United link
Leeds go to the break level
Both Charlton and Norwich losing
We would go level with Norwich tonight on points if we win and they lose. I believe that they have four goals on us GD wise.
We've had the better of the match - five shots to one. Not sheer dominance but at least Oldham haven't threatened our goal.
I just read you first comments.
The yellow and green are the colors of the Newton Heath. United had an away shirt with that color during the 90s.
It was half yellow and and half green but they actually made them ass backwards!
The ones really smiling right now are Colchester, who will have two games in hand on both Norwich and Charlton after tonight.
Newton Heath? Is that some historic team that was part of the "United" effort.
ROOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!
The boy can't stop scoring.
I want ten goals from him this summer.
YES!!!!
I lost the link and United score
ROONEY!!!
Lovely goal there with a deft lay-off on the volley from Valencia. He's really impressed me this season for you lot.
United were Newton Heath before we became Manchester United. We almost became Manchester Celtic
I'm off to set up my class. Be back in two ticks.
Half time at OT
United...the good one... are up 1-0
Same as at Upton please.... 4-0 at the end
A second goal in Germany.
The European Champions have tied it up against the run of play
Millwall, Huddersfield and Swindon all winning
YESSSS!!
LEEDS UNITED SCORE!!
Becchio after 54 minutes.
Well done mate
I've just got back into the office in time to see that Luciano Becchio has scored our opener!
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
1-0 Whites!
MK Dons have tied it up against Millwall
Level on points with Norwich now - three goals back on GD.
Four points up on Colchester and six points up on Charlton. Marvelous!
Now hold on....!
United are coming out for the second half
COME ON MAN U!!!
AND a game in hand
Here we go... United attacking the Stretford End
Mido coming on for the Hammers
AHHH
Park hits the woodwork within 20 seconds of the kick off
Two Nil to United... LEEDS UNITED THAT IS!!
Becchio
Two more goals for the team in white and they would be top
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
Becchioooooo!
Millwall retake the lead at MK
Bugger, my United link just froze
Doncaster have defended by BEAVERS!
That's Becchio's tenth of the season. He's actually taken up the scoring slack while JB has hit the slump recently. That's six goals in a month for Becchio.
Maybe it was Leicester that has defended like Beavers
Gradel on for Aidan White. Grayson's going for a third!
Norwich pressing but are losing for the 3rd in 4
Ipswich are now losing at Scunny
I need my United to get some more goals for their GD
Twenty five minutes left in the L1 matches this evening. I cannot believe that we're going to gain three points on Norwich and Charlton. Better than I could have hoped for.
Hang on, lads!
ROONEY!!!!!
TWO NIL.... made again by Valencia
16 goals in 15
23 Prem goals
27 total
8 headers
Not bad Wazza
Swindon and Huddersfield - our opponents at the weekend - are now both leading and are up into the playoff spots.
Heavy Snow at Elland Road
Amazing! Roon's got to be one of the most on-form players on the planet right now. I'd like to wrap him in cotton wool for about four months. Any time he goes into a challenge, I wince.
Oldham miss a good opportunity
Hang in there, Brighton and Southend.
Ipswich tie it up
Mr David Healy with the goal
Snoddy clips the top of the bar with a shot. oooooh!
Healey's at Ipswich now? I could have told Roy - he only scores in green!
His first goal in a year!
What a strange character he is.
He was one of the untouchable young guns at OT and all of a sudden he was sold to Preston and then jumped all over the place
Casper turns one round the post. Hang in there, you Whites! Twenty minutes to play. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to disappear downstairs in a moment.
Still have an hour to go at OT
ooh, West Ham go very close
Just over fifteen minutes to play. I'm off to class, mate. I'll catch up with you tomorrow, eh?
Come on, you Whites!
Sorry Mate
Norwich have tied it up
Swindon extend their lead
My United link is stinking it up
Get it back for Scholes to go close
Swind are 4-1 up against Stockport
They have been on a real run
BRIGHTON HAVE DOUBLED THEIR LEAD!!
Still over 20 minutes to at OT
Foster has to save a nice shot by a Hammer
Norwich really pressing for the winner with 3 minutes to go
Leeds have been 'unconvincing' but heading for victory
Rochdale, the league leaders, are losing to Bradford City at home. It is Peter Taylor's first game in charge for City
Millwall are 3-1 up
Hartlepool have won 4-1
Norwich score an injury time winner
Doesn't really matter.... You don't care about Norwich
Ipswich have drawn
Sadly, sorry have Norwich
Owen and Diouf on for Roon and Berbs
10 to go
I finally get Martin on United's match
10 to go at OT
YES!!!!!!!!!
Scholes sets up OWEN!!!!!
Three nil
Congrats.... Leeds have won 2-0
Charlton did get a goal back but still lost 1-2.... great news there
Is this not good news?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8527495.stm
United now have a better GD than Chelski
Bugger, just lost my link again... a very frustrating day of links.
SS still going strong though
Get it back for Scholes to whack one high over the bar!
Bugger
snowing at OT too
West Ham try a short corner and miss the pass!
He doesn't miss the corner flag!!
Classic
Stuttgart 1 Barca 1
Olympiacos 0 Bordeaux 1
Already in the three added minutes at OT
That's it
Man Utd 3 West Ham Utd 0
Happy day for Bob and I
Off to brave the snow and go to college
Take care
UWS
Cheers, Dave! Terrific day for us. I'm completely content with us going up with Norwich, who also won today. Significantly, Charlton continued their slide today, now 6 points behind us and two behind Colchester. Most significantly, it's our first win in yonks. Bring on Huddersfield!
