We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

QPR began the day with a 0-2 win at Coventry.
The grumpy Balotelli is flagged offside.
West ham host Everton later today, and we conclude with Birmingham vs United.
Carlos Tevez is on the bench as Mancini rotates his squad during this busy holiday period. BD will not be pleased as he wants his top scorer on the pitch.
Fulham have taken the lead at Stoke, Blackburn at West Brom, and Palace at Bristol City.
Citeh have an early penalty as Lichaj fouls Balotelli, and Balotelli easily sends Freidel the wrong way.
1-0 Citeh
Balotelli did not celebrate, as if he would.
Leeds have taken the lead against Pompey through Gradel .
Cuellar is down injured for Villa . They cannot afford injuries as they are in a poor run of form and have a depleted squad.

Villa now have a free kick just outside the box.Downing blasts high and wide.

Fulham are now 0-2 up at Stoke and West Brom have tied it up at against Balckburn.
Good morning. That was Lescott's first goal in over a year.
What has happened to Villa's defense, and Friedel's really been showing his age.
Scunny have taken the lead at Burnley, Cardiff have taken the lead at Watford, and Norwich have come from behind to tie it up against the Blades.
Good Morning Someone. Unfortunately, Lichaj the young American, was at fault for the goals. Villa have been in a really poor run of form and Citeh are 2-0 up with Tevez on the bench.
Make that 3-0. The rout is on.
Goal !!! 3-0 Citeh. Balotelli taps in his second as David Silva walks through the Citeh defense. Freidel saves his shot and Balotelli scored an easy rebound. As Some stated, horrible Villa defending.
Sorry, I meant to say Someone, not Some.
More goals in the Championship as Swansea have taken the lead against Barnsley, Millwall are now 2-0 up against Leicester, and Watford have tied it up against Cardiff.
The next match is West Ham vs Everton. It should be an exciting match.
No worries, it's Ed BTW.
Might find a link to any other game but this Man City one. The important match is at 12:30 :)
James Collins heads away the corner from Adam Johnson.
The important one for me is at 3 as my beloved United travel to Birmingham.
Nearly 4-0 as the shot from David Silva is deflected for a corner. Villa struggle to clear the corner.
They've been completely unraveling since O'Neill left.
I agree Someone.Houllier must be on his way out.
The Blades now lead 1-2 at Norwich.
Pompey have narrowed the deficit at Elland Road to 2-1 ad David Nugent scored for Portsmouth.
Citeh nearly scored again as they broke through Yaya, but James Collins made a world class tackle on Balotelli.
Better from Villa as Hart saves well from Albrighton and Citeh concede a corner. Warnock shot just wide from the corner.
Lescott showing himself off for another team today in a rare appearance.
Hukk City have taken the lead against Reading.
Citeh lead 3-0 at halftime thanks to a competent display and a wretched Villa display. Will Citeh sit on their lead in the second half?
City have a lot of guys out there today who are not starters. They'll keep playing to impress their manager, or another team's manager.
Hiya, lads. Thanks for posting the thread, MUR. I've been in and out so far today doing some post-holiday shopping. Absolutely thrilled with the Leeds lead. I'm hoping that our porous defense can hang onto it. We're back up into second again.
I just tried Skyping you using my mother's account, MUR. Give us a jingle back if you feel like a chat.
Hello BD. I would like to chat with you on Skype. I am still trying to figure out how it works.
My apologies for not posting a picture as I did not post a thread until about a minute before kickoff.
Zabaletta wins a corner off of Albrighton.
Freidel saves from Viera as Adam Johnson took the corner. The next corner is headed away, but Citeh maintain possession.
Another penalty on city. Hat trick for Balotelli.
Crushing blow to Villa.
I can't believe it as Citeh have another penalty. Albrighton fouled Johnson in the box. A collector's item as we saw a rare smile from Balotelli . He completed his first hat-trick in the EPL with a second penalty. 4-0 Citeh.
James Milner is on for Silva as he gets a chance to play against one of his former employers.
Blackpool have taken the lead at Sunderland through DJ Campbell.
COME ON YOU TANGERINES!
Yaya is being replaced by Jo.
Blackburn have now taken the lead at West Brom. They lead 1-2 as Kalinic has his second.
YESSSSS!!!!!!
Bradley Johnson has restored our two goal cushion at Elland Road.
3-1 to the Whites
It's Luciano Becchio's birthday today so I was hoping for a b-day hat-trick from Ell Torero. I won't be fussy, though. As long as we win this one.
Well done Bob! I am not sure if UWS will be pleased about this.
Jo volleys over from close range as the corner broke to him.
The Tractor Roys have yet another match postponed as the pitch was frozen at Doncaster.
Bugger - Andy O'Brien has knocked in an own goal for Pompey.
3-2.
We do love to give away goals at home. This one's not safe yet, not by half. 22 goals conceded at Elland Road this season!
The match at Elland Road sounds like the Match of the Day. I had a feeling it would be entertaining.
Blackburn now lead 1-3 at West Brom and Spurs have taken the lead against Newcastle. Watford now lead Cardiff 3-1. Norwich have tied it up against the Blades as it is 2-2 at Carrow Road.
Villa have a series of corners and ex Leeds Academy player,Delph, forced a save from Hart.
Villa have a free kick just outside the box as Zabaletta fouls Delfonso.
Stewart Downing shoots high and wide.
Hart saves well from Lichaj. The corner from Pires is cleared as Villa maintain possession.
Ten man Spurs now go 2-0 up against Newcastle as Gareth Bale scores.
Three minutes of stoppage time at Eastlands.
Watford now lead Cardiff 4-1.
Citeh win 4-0 against an inept Villa side.
Blackpool now lead 0-2 at Sunderland.
That was brutal to watch.
Everton's starters: Howard, Hibbert, Neville, Distin, Baines, Arteta, Fellaini, Rodwell, Coleman, Pienaar, Cahill.
Four strikers on the bench...
I agree Someone. I am expecting a more entertaining match at Upton Park.
Pompey have tied it up late in a thriller at Elland Road as it is now 3-3.
Some more late goals in the Championship as Norwich have come from behind to lead the Blades 3-2.
Bristol City have tied it up against Palace and Reading have tied it up at Hull City. It is 1-1 in both matches.
Scunny now lead 0-2 at Burnley.
Bob, you must be frustrated as Andrew O'Brien scored two ogs to gift Pompey a 3-3 draw. Leeds move down to fourth as they are behind the two welsh clubs on goal difference.
Fulham move out of the relegation zone with their first away win of the season as they won at Stoke through two rare Chris Baird goals.
Bob I am on skype in case you want to chat.
West Ham United and Everton are about to kick off from Upton Park.WHR will be cheering for the Hammers as they need another win to get out of the relegation zone.Someone will be cheering for Everton.
I'm on my couch, it's a Tuesday, and Everton's on. COYB!
It should be an entertaining encounter from Upton Park.
Jack Rodwell wins a corner for Everton off of Scott Parker.
Distin moves forward and fires wide.
Just wide by Distin as the Hammers failed to properly clear the corner and the ball broke to Distin. He should have passed.
There is talk about Pienaar leaving at the end of the season as his contract expires.
Pienaar wants more money, he has not learned from Lescott's actions.
That was a chance for West Ham as they broke, but they failed to take advantage in the box due to poor passing.
Pienaar should stay at Everton, but it would be a huge loss should he leave.
He is a vital part of the team. I don't see Bily taking his place. We'll see what the transfer window brings.
OG Hibbert.
The Hammers win a corner off of Tony Hibbert.
GOAL 1-0 HAMMERS!
Tony Hibbert put into his own net off of the corner after Timmy had saved a header, but the Everton defense failed to clear.
Everton corner. Coleman had a nice run but no striker to feed it to.
Distin fires to the moon.
Seamus Coleman wins a corner for Everton after a great tackle by Upson.Distin heads off the corner from Arteta, but it is deflected for another corner.Distin shoots well over from the resulting corner.
Hibbert nearly had a second OG. Not a good start.
More problems with Everton's defense as Hibbert struggled to clear after a run by Freddie Sears.
Jagielka's injury gives Hibbert the start. Not much depth on the back line.
Obinna should have passed after some great skill, but shot from a narrow angle.
Some curious Everton defending as Timmy wanted to let the ball run out of play, but it bounced off the corner flag and stayed in. Fortunately, Timmy won a free kick.
Everton showing no creativity in the midfield. When you have no striker, you can't play long ball either.
Tompkins is fouled by Rodwell.a great position for a free kick.
I agree Someone. Everton need to bring on a striker. I thought there would be more creativity from Pienaar and Arteta.
Upson heads over from the Obinna free kick.
Scott Parker is flagged offside . That was close.
Kovac heads away for a corner.Baines takes the corner and West Ham clear.
Not much has happened since the OG.
Another corner for Everton.
West Ham defense playing strong.
Ilunga is down injured and will be replaced by Johnny Spector. 100 comments.
Everton really need to put in one of those four strikers on the bench.
Arteta has been invisible.
I agree. I am not sure why Everton are playing a defensive formation against a relegation struggler.
Fellaini got away with one there. Should have been booked for that tackle.
If Moyes is playing not to lose on the road, he's wrong in this case already.
Baines wins a corner for Everton.
The Hammers clear from the corner taken by Baines.
GOAL!!! 1-1 AS SEAMUS COLEMAN FINISHES AT THE FAR POST THANKS TO A MOVE STARTED IN THE EVERTON HALF.THAT WAS ARTETA'S FIRST CREATIVE MOMENT IN THE MATCH.
Seamus Coleman with a great finish on a pass from Cahill ties it up!
Upson heads it hard, but wide.
Upson heads wide from a corner.
Parker attempts to chip Timmy, but the shot lands on the roof of the net. Two minutes of stoppage time.
Coleman shoots wide as Everton threaten to slice open the Hammers defense.
Everton showing a little life toward the end of the half. Something to build on for the second 45.
Halftime and 1-1 as Everton have come back into the match after a quick start from the Hammers.
Second half just about underway. No changes yet.
The second half is underway.
Not a bad shot by Pienaar but it bends a bit wide past the far post.
It has been a slow start to the second half.
Spector fouls Coleman by the corner flag as he struggles in an unfamiliar role at left back.
Yes, it has. Baines lobs a shot that Green easily handles.
Everton free kick from the corner. Rodwell turned the wrong way.
Toffees trying to threaten.
Carlton Cole replaces Piquionne.
This negative play by Everton is infuriating. They're lobbing it in on Green, hoping for a mishandle or something.
The Hammers win a corner as Cole pressures Distin.
Tompkins heads over as Parker took the corner.
Cole blew past Hibbert too.
Rodwell out, Yakubu in. Let's see if this pays off any.
Rodwell is replaced by the Yak.
Have not heard Cahill's name much. That's how he is though. 88 minutes of nothing and the rest he's heading the ball in. He did assist on the goal though.
Everton finally have a striker on the pitch as the match is on level terms.I wonder if the plan was to keep it tight and have the strikers score late against a tired Hammers defense.
Kovac becomes the first player booked as he fouls Pienaar.
Kovac gets booked for tripping Pienaar.
A lot of space for West Ham and Cole shoots it wide. That was a missed opportunity.
The Hammers should have scored as Sears broke down the right, and Cole should have scored from such a great position.
Boa Morte shot into the wall from a free kick.
Nice cross by Yakubu, but nobody there in the box.
Another dreadful decision by Cole after great work by Parker and Obinna.
Everton taking to long in their tactics and West Ham is getting back to counter.
A draw helps neither team.I would expect end - to-end action in the final fifteen minutes. A draw would mean that Everton would be tied with Fulham for most drawn EPL matches this season.
That was some good passing. Hard shot by Cahill right at Green.
Fellani forces a decent save by Green with a powerful header from the corner. Pienaar shoots the rebound over.
Very good defense by Parker to stop Yakubu.
Green stops Fellaini's header from the corner and Pienaar's shot is high.
Everton showing some drive. Another sub would bring in some fresh legs.
Cahill off sides when the ball went in. Whistle went off.
Cahill is flagged offside, so the goal will not count as there was chaos in the Hammers defense.
Zavon Hines is on for Obinna.
Terrible ball from Neville.
Moyes sitting with two substitutions and strikers on the bench. Settling for a draw is not going to move the team up the table.
Ah, looks like Beckford is going to replace Arteta. Nice late move...
Yak wins a corner off of Faubert.
Beckford for Pienaar.
Coming into extra time now.
Yak heads wide off the corner after Cahill headed the ball into his path.
Jermaine Beckford is on for Pienaar. Why so late in the match?
Bad pass off the heel from Yakubu.
Five minutes added time?!? Really?
There will be five minutes of stoppage time.
Timmy came way out of the box, but it is effective as he blocks an effort from Boa Morte.
Moyes is looking for another late miracle.
Sears broke down the right, but his cross was headed to Timmy by Tony Hibbert.
Another useless late sub? Bily for Arteta. Waited ten minutes too long. Lame tactics.
Bily is on for Arteta, but he won't make an impact with two minutes of stoppage time remaining.
I agree 100% , Someone.
The Hammers get a free kick in a decent position.
A useless free kick by Parker.
Hibbert fouls Sears. A dangerous late free kick for the Hammers.
Shot wide. Not much time left.
Neither team wanted to win this one.
Poor decisions by Moyes did not help.
The match ends tied at 1-1. Next Brum vs United from St. Andrews in about thirty minutes.
I'm out of the house for awhile. Have a good afternoon. Enjoy the match.
Cheers Someone.
Birmingham vs Manchester United is the second Manchester vs Birmingham match-up of the day. Ben Foster should see plenty of action against his former teammates. Both teams need points for different reasons as a United win puts them back in first place ahead of Citeh, and Birmingham need the points because they currently occupy one of the relegation spots. Brum usually keep it tight at St. Andrews. United will need a professional performance at St.Andrews. Darren Gibson starts in place of Park, who is off to the Asian Cup.
United need a win as they have only one away win and six draws. The match is underway.
Cameron Jerome heads over from a cross.
Roon shoots wide from long range as he looks for his first goal from open play since March.
It is still 0-0 with fifteen minutes played. Roon has had a couple of shots at goal. Otherwise, little action has occurred in this match.
Nearly 1-0 to United as a cross from Giggs beat Foster and came off the corner of the post and the bar.
The replay showed that Foster tipped the cross on to the inside of the post.
Brum win a free kick just outside the box as Carrick fouled Jerome.
Larsson shot over and did not trouble VDS.
Rafael fouls Beausejour. That seemed really theatrical.
The free kick from the left was really poor.
Evening, David. Sorry that I missed your Skype earlier. We were out having a lovely pub dinner. We're just settling in to watch the match. Best of luck to your United.
Anderson and Craig Gardener are booked for their part in scuffle.
Thanks Bob. United nearly scored when Giggs meant to cross and ended up hitting the inside of the post.
God evening to you Bob.I understood that there are milder conditions in England today. Do you want to Skype at halftime?
Bowyer was booked for a foul and Giggs shoots straight at Foster.
Vidic is booked for a foul on Jerome. The free kick is in a decent position.
The free kick taken by Gardener is deflected for a corner.
Brum have been awarded a corner that did not even touch a United player.
Still 0-0 and United are far from their best this evening.
There has been an interesting battle brewing between Rafael and Beausejour.
Gardener shot wide with a decent effort from long range that VDS seemed to have covered.
That was a great run by Rafael, but the pass to Drac was too long.
Gardener shoots wide from long range as he has had just about all of Brum's scoring opportunities.
Two minutes of stoppage time.
Lee Mason blows the whistle for halftime and it is 0-0 at St.Andrews.
The second half is underway. Hoping for better from United in the second half.
A shot from Lee Bowyer is deflected for a corner.Gardener shoots straight at VDS off the corner.
I wonder if Chicharito and Macheda will come on as subs if things do not improve. I am surprised to see Drac having such a quiet match after a great run of form.
Roon heads over off a cross from a short corner.
YES!!!! Drac scores to give United a 0-1 lead. A great pass from Gibson. A great near post finish.
I had commented about Drac having a quiet game about five minutes earlier.
Drac nearly scores again as he weaves through two defenders and sees his hot bounce off the outside of the post.
A win would put us two points ahead of Citeh with two games in hand.
Alex Hleb, the ex Gunner, is on for Larsson. One ex Gunner on for another ex Gunner.
It is till 0-1 with Birmingham showing no attacking threat. That will suit United. Fletch replaces Anderson.
I would love to see a second United goal which should seal a United win.
Scott Dann is booked for a foul on Drac.
Gibsob shoots well wide from long range. There was more power than accuracy in the shot.
Hleb went down too easily in the box after colliding with Rafael. He should be booked for diving.
