Come join us as there are three televised matches this morning.
556 Comments:
The match from Anfield has kicked off and it is 0-0.
The latest from St. Amdrews is Birmingham 0 Wolves 0
Wolves have taken the lead at St. Andrews through a penalty by Steven Fletcher and as I type Maxi Rodriguez gives Liversox the lead as John Flanagan crossed , it eluded Suarez, and Maxi volleyed with a great finish.
As things stand, Liversox are behind Spurs on goal difference, and Wolves are in with the other teams. The Hammers must win at Eastlands today.
It has been all Liversox with Newcastle playing as if they have not shown up for this match.
I need to correct myself. Wolves is out of the relegation zone, one point ahead of Wigan and Blackpool. Liversox is in fifth ahead of Spurs on goal difference.
Newcastle finally attacked and the free kick from Joey Barton eluded everyone to the delight of the Liversox fans.
The goal from Maxi took a deflection off of Danny Simpson that wrong footed Tim Krul in the Newcastle goal.
Tim Krul made a decent save from Jay Spearing.
Birmingham have tied it up through Seb Larsson.
John Flanagan is booked for a foul on Jonas Gutierrez.
Barton took the free kick, Ameobi headed down, and Flanangen cleared. Then Liversox countered, but Jose Enrique made a great tackle on Kuyyt
Barton takes Newcastle's first corner that is cleared after Ameobi's header is blocked.
The fans are singing "There's only one Andy Carroll." The Newcastle fans counter with " There's only one Joey Barton."
Joey Barton takes another corner that is blocked from Mireles only ten yards away. The fans love it. Joey, not so much.
Wolves is back in the relegation zone while Birmingham now have 39 points.
Liverpool legend Tommy Smith was in the stands talking to what looked like David Pleat.Intersting!
Lucas heads straight at Krul from a Spearing cross.
Newcastle have another free kick.Liversox fail to clear and Mireles fouls Barton with a high challenge just outside the box.
The free kick from Barton deflects off of Maxi for a corner.
A poor corner eludes everyone.
Better from Newcastle as they now have 57% of the possession.
Liversox countered through Kuyyt , but Mireles fell in the box as Kuyyt passed to him and Krul easily gathered.
Ameobi is called for a foul on Glen Johnson as he attempted to head a cross.
There is one minute of stoppage time.
Liversox lead 1-0 at halftime while it is 1-1 from St. Andrews in the second minute of stoppage time.
Morning MUR... sorry I am late. I actually didn't think this match was on the TV
I saw your comment about Liverpool Spurs
Liverpool are now above Spurs on GD
I just saw you corrected yourself....good boy
I can't believe Spur might not make Europe at all. It could be there only hope is to hope Citeh gets caught by Liverpool and Citeh then win the Cup
Joey "the Thug" Barton should have done better there at the back post
Suarez goes down the other end almost puts in another deflected shot
Good morning UWS. I just got out of the shower and saw that it is still 1-0 and Tiote received his thirteenth booking of the season.
Joey Barton has been dreadful at set pieces today. One corner was blocked by a player standing ten yards from the corner flag.
I don't know if you said or not but Brum are down to ten men
I saw Barton's corner at the end of the first half... it had to be saved from going out for a corner on the other side
I did not know that Brum were down a player. Thank you for the information and as I type Celtic have taken the lead against Dundee United.
Have we ever had a triple header of matches on a Sunday morning...this is brilliant.
Glad to see Celtic's goal... I want them to win the title
That was interesting as Maxi countered down the left and his mis-hit cross cam off the bar, surprising time Krul in the Newcastle goal.
Penalty to LiverSox... it was a dive
Two nil
Spurs are in trouble
I don't remember a triple header on a Sunday morning and as I type Liversox are awarded a penalty thanks to a clumsy challenge by Williamson on Suarez, and he is booked for his troubles.
It is 2-0 as Kuyyt sends Krul the wrong way from the spot.
Where was the marking... Kuyt was so open! Headed wide
Nearly 3-0 as Kuyyt heads just wide.
That lead puts Celtic three points behind Rangers with a game in hand and superior goal difference.
Well over by Andy Carroll.
Morning, lads. I took the opportunity to have a bit of a lie in this morning. And I laughed out loud when I saw the graphic - nice one, MUR!
Another classic by Barton. A school boy could have taken a better free kick.
I turned the telly on just in time to see Suarez go down for the penalty. Very soft, IMHO; if I'd been the ref, I would have blown up for the obstruction earlier and given an indirect free kick but referees don't do that anymore.
Good morning BD. Thank You.I liked it and it basically reflects how the teams are doing at the moment.
Three nil.... The Toon are hopeless!
GOAL!! 3-0 LIVERSOX AS SUAREZ SCORES FROM CLOSE RANGE. GAME OVER.
GOAL! Luis Suarez is absolutely rampant here today. Lovely one-two with Kuyt and then bang.
3-0!
I think Celtic will only be two points behind
Morning Bob
I am a nervous nelly... you can't tell me it is over
Toon defenders are definitely on their summer holidays already. Loads of space there for Suarez.
I agree about the penalty decision, but it was clumsy by Williamson who did not need to make that challenge.
Another classic by Barton. Someone else should be taking the Newcastle free kicks.
Harry Redknapp won't be having a good Sunday morning watching this. The Scousesox have now pushed up into 5th on 55 points but with a far superior GD of +15. Spurs do have a game in hand but as the commentator pointed out, it's against Citeh. Not easy.
World Of Sport Update
The World Championship of Snooker is taking place at The Crucible in Sheffield right now. The Final starts today.... "Whispering Ted" Lowe died this morning at the age of 90
He was the brother of Arthur Lowe of Dad's Army fame
You're nervous now, Dave but I think you should be nervous about the Scousesox for the 11/12 season. They were rubbish at the beginning of the season but with Suarez and Carroll up top, Kuyt cleaning up 10 or so goals, Reina in goal and King Kenny on the bench, they'll be a force to deal with next season.
I remember Dad's Army . I liked that show. I am sorry to hear that Ted Lowe passed away.
1321: TEAM NEWS SNAP
Cesc Fabregas misses out for Arsenal against Man Utd after receiving an injury in training. Sir Alex Ferguson, meanwhile, opts for Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez up front. Full teams to follow...
Snooker lore, UWS? You really are NocitoSportsCenter.
I was just thinking the same thing... LiverSox could be a danger next season
I agree. I think they could be our main rivals for the title next season. It is interesting that King Kenny takes over at the Sox as we surpass them for number of championships won.
I noticed that Andy Carroll received an interesting reception when he came on for Maxi.
Nile Ranger is on for Peter Lovenkrands.
It is definitely the Nocito Sportscenter . Is there any cricket or rugby news today?
Celtic lead Dundee United 1-0 at halftime.
Tiote shoots well wide after the Barton corner was cleared.
1331: ARSENAL v MAN UTD (1405)
Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Djourou, Clichy, Song, Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott, Nasri, van Persie. Subs: Lehmann, Squillaci, Arshavin, Eboue, Gibbs, Chamakh, Bendtner.
Man Utd: Van der Sar, Fabio Da Silva, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Park, Carrick, Anderson, Nani, Hernandez, Rooney. Subs: Kuszczak, Owen, Berbatov, Smalling, Rafael Da Silva, O'Shea, Valencia.
Referee: Chris Foy (Merseyside)
Glen Johnson fouls Ameobi just outside the box.
Newcastle win a corner as the Spearing tackled Gutierrez and Reina catches the corner.
It looks like United's first choice side as Drac is no longer a starter and Ramsey is in for Cesc.
Flanagan is replaced by Jonjo Shelvey.
1336: Approaching the last 10 minutes at St Andrew's and scrappy and feisty still winning the day over passing and movement. Plenty of time for late drama, though. Still Birmingham 1-1 Wolves.
SHefki Kuqi is on for Ameobi.
Brother Tony says he might join today
He thinks QPR are in trouble
This match is done... I am off to shower and shave. I'll be back for the big one
A draw favors Birmingham who are only a point or two away from safety. I expected a scrappy match considering what is at stake and that it is a local derby.
See you UWS.
Nolan shoots over from long range.
Joe Cole is on for Suarez.
No real surprises in those line-ups.
Skrtel clears for a Newcastle corner.
There will be four minutes of stoppage time.
Gutierrez wins a corner for Newcastle.
Jose Enrique is replaced by Shane Ferguson. What is the purpose with one minute of stoppage time remaining?
Another poor corner and useless long ball.
Liversox win 3-0 and are in fifth place, which puts them in a Europa League spot. The final score form St. Andrews is Birmingham 1 Wolves 1
That's it, then. The Scousesox have put the Toon to the sword 3-0. The result was never in doubt from the kick-off. The Reds have really turned their season around and European footie is now a distinct possibility.
I'll bet that Katy Perry is rubbish at football.
I am back.... itchy bum time.... despite the shower!
Super Sunday continues its triple bill this morning with Arsenal v. United from the Emirates.
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
I believe the Fergie phrase is "Squeaky Bum Time." That is, the noise that your bum makes when it's on the edge of the seat. Not sure what your ailment is. Can I recommend some talcum powder?
COME ON UNITED!
COME ON UNITED!
COME ON UNITED!
I DON'T CARE WHO IT BROUGHT TO US BY!!!
It feels like squeaky bum time.
United NEED something from today.... FULL STOP!
Oh why didn't we beat the useless Toon
The teams are heading out of the tunnel.
Itchy bum is a deeper worry!
We need victory today and next Sunday.
United's match with Shalke on Wednesday is on FX not FSC
The Roller Derby is on FSC on Tuesday
If that happens... CHAMPIONS!!!
Celtic two up
"It's a Nani Game!" Yes - Warren, my son. Well in!
The Arsenal players look like a bunch of light weights, especially the back four.
I hope you both are right
Bloody Efan!!!!
Why not Tyler
We're off
The match kicks off from the EM.
So - Arsenal to get us underway at a gorgeous looking Emirates Stadium. Why can't we get a bit of that spring weather over here?
Celtic now lead Dundee United 2-0.
KopMaestro on Twitter: "Cesc being out may just be a blessing for Arsenal today. He seems to have been feeling sorry for himself as of late.
RVP fizzes one in but he's offside.
That is an accurate statement.
I was listening 606 last Sunday and EVERY CALL but one was about the Arse
One guy called Arsenal's stadium
Emptycrates... nice one
Thank God we didn't have yesterday's linesman there
He was several yards offside.
I agree UWS. What was he thinking?
Wilshere shoots wide after some shocking United defending.
I also agree - the sooner they shop Fabregas, the better. I'd have him plus RVP, Arshavin, Bendtner, Diaby, Clichy, and Almunia off this summer.
Have United gotten the ball over half
BLOODY HELL.. Vidic with an unbelievable pass to Wishere.... phew
Typical Arsenal - they like to try to punk teams with an early onslaught. It rarely works and by the 15 minute mark, they start to get frustrated if the opposition weathers the early pressure.
Useless by ballhog Nani!
He annoys his team mates. You can see them complain when he doesn't get the ball over
I would have preferred Valencia
I agree,BD. They need to ship those players, but as Gooner stated who will want them with their wages?
Oh - and throw Denilson into that fire sale as well. He's rubbish.
It was well over by Nani.
I agree,BD.
I am not liking what I am seeing right now
United need to get some possession
RVP heads well wide after about fifty short passes.
Cecs Fonzy in the stands
I've never understood the issue of the wages. Surely as with other lines of work, wages are subject to negotiation. It's not like I was able to my Dean and say, "Sorry - you don't understand. I'm a $100K assistant professor."
Walcott slides in the box... over
COME ON UNITED!!!
I'm telling you - once United weather the first fifteen minutes, the game will shift.
Cesc is in the stands appearing uninterested.Theo shoots well over after a great run by Clichy.
I hope that is Nostrabobus talking
Chicharito is well offside.
Infostrada Sports: "Arsenal field their youngest line-up of the season. They average 23 years and 296 days today - also the youngest line-up of all clubs this Premier League season."
I cannot negotiate my salary.
Has Rooney or Hernandez touched the ball
Nasri trying to walk the ball into the net as usual.
Not yet, no.
Theo wins a corner for the Gunners.
United are on the ropes right now.... I AM HATING IT
STAY ON SIDE LITTLE PEA
You can only hear the United away fans singing. The Arsenal fans are already getting frustrated. Very quiet.
I agree with BD. The Gunners appear less threatening than they did in the first five minutes.
Keep it up Theo
When they play against vastly inferior opposition (e.g., Blackpool, Braga), they can overwhelm a side in the first fifteen minutes and put the match out of reach. But against better organized defenses, it doesn't work. And there is no Plan B for Wenger.
Roon has touched the ball.
United are toothless at the moment
Great saving tackle by Evra there.
Well done Evra... what a clearance...phew
Evra concedes a corner as Wilshere attempted to find Theo at the far post.
Rubbish corner from RVP - didn't beat Anderson, the first man, on the post.
Fifteen minute mark - the match will start to swing back toward United right about now. Mark my words.
Thank you Nostrabobus
The Arsenal fans are starting to become a little restless.
Listen to the crowd reaction whenever an Arsenal pass goes astray - amazing!
I think Gooner's right - Pat Rice, bless him, is part of the problem. For them to give up so many basic defensive goals when the first team coach is a former fullback, is inexcusable.
A draw and a win next week would be enough... almost
Nasri goes down on the edge of the box but Chris Foy is unimpressed.
Nasri goes down under the challenge from Vidic, but Chris Foy is not interested.
Vidic did foul him but the ball was gone... still, I would have given the free kick
How about a win this weekend and a draw against Chelski? Surely, that's enough.
I agree with Steve . He is correct.
BLOODY HELL FABIO!!!
WHAT A CHANCE
Oh - that was a good chance. Fabio got behind the back four. He should have gone for goal but tried to play Chicha in. Blocked out for a corner.
A great run by Fabio and Wea Pea's shot is blocked for a corner.
Park has a shot knocked down from the corner.
United actually take a normal corner...still do nowt with it
United maintain possession from the corner.
The match is now about 50/50. Notice how much the Arsenal attack has slowed down?
Fergie's anxious - you can tell.
United are now getting back into this match.
So am I
Bit of afters by Evra on Wilshere after Wilshere went in late on him. Foy didn't see it.
Anderson is hopeless!
How can a Brazilian be so hopeless
To be fair to Anderson, he telegraphed that ball for Park, but the Korean wasn't anticipating it. It would have been a great ball if he'd stuck a toe out for it.
It was too hard of a pass
Rooney's starting to see a lot of the ball now. An ominous sign for United.
According to my calculations we have 1030 comments this weekend.
Celtic now lead Dundee United 3-0.
Not too shabby
What was that cross from Sagna? Add him to the list.
A fine anniversary effort.
Fergie is talking to the fourth official.
Fergie's asking him if he's seen his Pick 'n' Mix.
As we stand, we are four up on Chelsea
When we were winning at the Bridge, we were 18 points ahead of the Blues. Have Chelsea played that well and United played that badly to make up all those points??
Half hour in... so far so good
STAY ONSIDE!!!
Good ball from Park but Chicha was offside.
Told ya so, didn't I?
Wea Pea is offside again and kicks the ball away in disgust.
We still are winning!
Dundee United have scored a consolation goal.
AREN'T
Oh dear - Carrick coughed up the ball in a dangerous position and it led to a decent cross over from Theo and possible handball by Vidic!
