The Long and Winding Road....
.... leads to the Championship!!
Good Morning Fellas. This is always a depressing day for me. The last day of the football season.
Thankfully, the Championship has already been decided but there are plenty of things still up for grabs.
#1 Who will join West Ham booking away dates at Elland Road next season?
#2 Who will get the final automatic qualification place for the Champions League?
#3 Who will get to play in the Mickey Mouse Europa League next season?
#4 Who will win the Fair Play League and make Europe?
#5 Who will win the Golden Boot?
THE CHAMPIONS' match is on ESPN 2 while FSC will show the Spurs Birmingham match up

I'm at work, but will be following here and on the BBC site.
Morning Someone Said
I have a lovely link that I hope will change to Soccer Special
http://veetle.com/index.php/channel/view#4dd2dd48b0291
A non veetle link for Soccer special would be awesome. I'll poke around for one later.
The first Playoff decision of the season has been made
AFC WImbledon beat Luton 4-3 on penalties after a scoreless draw.
What a rise by Wimpleton
Lovely Jubbley... Soccer Special has started!
Chief football writer Phil McNulty at Old Trafford:
"The 35 years ticking clock banner taunting Man City has indeed disappeared from the Stretford End. In its place? '19 Times'."
FSC have a Sky Sports New on right now as build up
Lovely
So.. what will Blackpool do today. They could lose 4-0 and still survive! if Birmingham get hammered at WHL
Will it happen?
I'd like to see United win 3-1 and Spurs beat Brum 3-0
News that there is no Rooney, Hernandez, Vidic, Rio or Twitterman in the team
VDS, Scholes and Berbatov playing
This is VDS's last game at Old Trafford.
Is it Scholsey's?
If Blackpool go down, they will have scored the most goals of a team that has been relegated
SAMMY'S STAT
Thirty goals or more today would make this the highest-scoring 38-match Premier League season ever. On a current total of 1031 (the third highest to date), the most goals in a season was in 1999-2000 (1060). Last season saw a total of 1053 goals.

I just hope no one gets hurt for Saturday
News from Old Trafford is that Owen Hargreaves is not going to be offered a new contract... what a disappointment for him
aww dave, you're talking to yourself it seems :( where is everyone else? you should mail Mike & tell him to join in!
My thoughts exactly Debs
Text Mike and Tony to have them join us.. they are Lakenheath REALLY Old Boys!!!
Oi. I just saw that . Less of the
really !
If you're looking at all the games in the Premier League, there aren't many games that are pointless
Villa v LiverSox.... Europa League spot up for grabs
Bolton v Citeh.... Citeh to secure CL spot
Everton v Chelsea... nothing
Fulham v Arse... Arsenal want third
CHAMPIONS v Blackpool.... all to play for for the Tangs
Toon v WBA... nothing
Stoke v Wigan... so important for Wigan
Spurs v Brum... important for both sides
West Ham v Sunderland... sadly nothing
Wolves v Blackburn... vital for both
Hey... WELCOME CHELSKILAD!
You're Chelskilad with a horrible emblem!!!
Morning, folks! I'm holed up in my Chicago hotel room looking forward to this morning's action. I'll be checking out at the final whistle and driving back to Blue Devil HQ this afternoon.
Great to hear from the Nocito clan!
I hope this is the start of more comment from Chelski lad. The emblem is great.
Glad to hear from you Bob!
Will you be able to watch United on ESPN 2?
Have you got my link for SS working
Three Nocitos in the same day... MICHAEL... LET'S BE HAVIN YA
Emblem STINKS
Whats wrong with it ??? You or Bob
set it up for me . Just got back from
Cambridge helping Mike . What about
that story ?
I will be watching United v. Blackpool hoping that the Tangerines stuff eight past United and that Fergie is stripped of his knighthood for fielding a crap side.
We have another thread about that... have you commented on that?
Hi Bob . How are things with you ?
I think I might have left it a tad
late to start using LOB this season .
Will do better next time .
There goes Bob ruining the whole morning!
I am hoping for a United 2-0 win and Spurs with a 3-0 win and Blackpool stay up
Your leaving already?
Are you going to join us next week?
Bob will be in Glenville next week
FSC's pregame starting
Cheers, Tony - you're welcome to join in whenever you have the chance. I think I was the one who put the emblem on your profile - looks good!
Fancy start for the show and the lads are in the FOX studio... getting it warmed up for next week
I haven't gone anywhere yet . Don't
know where I will be watching next
week . Might even miss it .
What about RG ?
Yes Bob you were . Thanks for that .
I think it looks good . Little brother
wouldn't help .
FSC have gone to a reporter pitch side at OT
The #19 is already written on the seats of the Stretford End
I refuse to comment until after Saturday.
Some have commented on it on the other thread.
Debs sent a link for a Scottish newspaper...classic
FSC have reporters at a lot of stadiums... what is going on? They all have FSC microphones
Well done
Unfortunately I don't have access to FSC this morning but I'm enjoying the SS link you included, mate. Cheers!
I have that going too
I am just impressed with FSC's effort today
Tony... you have to stay with us... no pub tirp is needed!
The Grand Prix is done so there is no excuse
Text Mike to join us too... did you get a text from Debs for us to join?
Here are the implications for the PPP match:
UWS went for United, Citeh, Chelski, Arse at the top and Blackpool, WBA and Wolves at bottom.
MUR went for United, Chelski, Citeh and Arse at the top and will probably pick up the full 12 points. He's gone for Wigan, WBA and Blackpool at bottom.
Thomas has gone for United, Chelski, Arsenal and Citeh at top and WBA, Wolves and Blackpool at bottom.
Very, very tight. It'll all come down to next weekend...as is right.
Very strange day here for the team down below... with the goal difference so close (three goals) a loss could be good enough OR a win might not be!!
Very exciting!!! I feel it is only a two horse race
With MUR full house in the Prem, I don't think Tom can catch him
Who did MUR and Tom choose for Golden Boot?
1513: TEAM NEWS SNAP
Sir Alex Ferguson picks a strong Man Utd XI against Blackpool, with Vidic, Scholes, Berbatov and Nani all in the starting line-up.
VDS' last match, sad to see him go but he's going out a winner.
Ten internationals in United's line up
Don't know the line up yet but who would be the only non international?
Thomas went for Roon - no chance there - while MUR wisely went for Tevez. Still a chance for the little wizard to pip Drac. Although I have a feeling Berbatov could be on the pitch today.
I second that emotion... let's hope the last thing he does for the club is lift the EUROPEAN CUP a la the Big Dane
He is on the field... come on DIMI!!!!
I've just sent an email invitation to Debbie to join us on the LOB full-time. My goal is to get the entire Nocito clan on board.
Good luck with Lisa... I am not sure if she knows what a computer looks like... Jon should join us!
uh oh... the bloke is changing channels.. knock it off!
He is now on the United link.... get back to SS
Bob . Good luck with the secret agent
Nocito . The rest of us are quite
easy to catch .
Still on the wrong link but they are showing the great escape by Oldham on the last day of the first PL season.
They were 4-1 up on Sotton but only held on 4-3
They also beat Villa at Villa Park the week before that virtually won the League for United
Feel free to send Jon an invite any time, mate. The more the merrier. Or I can do it if you send me his email address.
Sorry . I forgot about Lisa . No
chance with her .
Just sent you his address
Tony,
What is Mike up to?
Still busy making the album?
Skyping my mum for a moment.
It's back to SS
Give her my best
Good morning everyone. It looks like we have a full crew on board for what should be an interesting end to the EPL season.
Just woke up and found out that I have been missing out on lots of LOB action.
Welcome MUR.. aren't you happy that there is no need to be nervous this morning!!
Morning, MUR - I'm getting a taste of Central Standard Time this weekend. Everything's just an hour too early for me.
Friedel makes his 400th Premier League appearance today.. well done Brad
How do I get Gillett soccer special
on my laptop ???
I'm amazed by that - he also put in a good deal of time at Blackburn, right?
Yeah, mate. If you don't have Veetle downloaded, try this link:
http://www.dart1801.blogspot.com/
United home record is unbelievable!
Two nil up against WBA at half time. A soft free kick scored at the near post and then the clanger drop by VDS to gift WBA a second. Still thought United would go on and win it... what a shame that is our only blemish!
I left a link for it in one of the first comments
Or follow MUR's link
Still haven't seen United's starting line up in full
Yes. I am relieved that the pressure is off. I enjoyed the Bobby Charlton link. Are you in Chicago, Bob?
Now the bloke has turned it to MUTV... go back to SS
Sir Bobby was very good wasn't he?
I am watching the matches on FSC and ESPN 2 at the same time with the PIP function? Can anyone guess which picture is the big picture?
Dunno!!
He was pure class. He didn't seem to have a weakness. The only thing that I didn't see him do was tackle. The closest thing that SAF's teams had to him was Scholesey.
THE CL final is live on the local FOX affiliate, NOT FSC.
Sire Bobby has always said that Duncan Edwards was the best he had ever seen.. wonder how he would have been alongside the Holy Trinity!!
Uh oh - the ESPN2 channel doesn't seem to be working on the hotel telly. I may have to go with a link on the laptop.
Yes. It was on Fox last season too
I like the idea of the Final being on a Saturday.... much better than on a Wednesday
I still like the traditional Wednesday evening CL final. Bring back the European Cup!
Anon via text: "Looks like Joe Cole is going to be playing in the 'shop window' position for Liverpool."
Lots of 19s making an appearance at Old Trafford
Bob... what having a class on Wednesday evening?
What about me having to take a day off to be home for the Final
I like the Saturday Final... you can come and visit!
I have heard so much about Duncan Edwards . It's scary to think about what he , United, and England would have achieved.
I agree with UWS. A Saturday Final is better for me because I cannot see the Final live on Wednesday since I am teaching. For example, I watched Sir Bobby and Giggsy lift the CL trophy at 9 PM instead of live in the afternoon.
I see the Spurs lineup on FSC and Lance Armstrong on the Deuce.
You definitely have a point. The problem I've got is that there will be the temptation to have domestic fixtures on the same weekend as the Champions League Final in seasons to come.
I have a riddle. What do Oldham, Bradford City, West Brom, and Hull City all have in common?
I don't think so. The regular season is usually over, and I do not think UEFA would allow that to happen.
How about all of those sides have played in all four domestic divisions? Just a guess.
I am thinking in terms of the EPL.
West Brom have never played in League 2.
I have been impressed with FSC's pregame this morning but I am now switching to ESPN2
WHAT'S THE ANSWER ???
They have all survived on the last day of the season
Blackpool show their class by giving VDS a guard of honor as the teams walk out of the tunnel.
All of the sides have finished bottom of the Premiership?
Tony, did you get and SS link working?
Blackpool have a guard of honor for the Champions and VDS
Yes But what is the proper answer ?
You are correct, UWS. I was looking for a more detailed answer. They survived on the last day of the season to be relegated the following season, proving that they were delaying the inevitable. That is a lot of teams during the EPL era.
VDS gets a WEIRD trophy at a windy OT.. messing up SAF's hair
Kick-off time. Come on you Tangerines!
Pouring with rain as well
It's not raining, it's Manchester crying!
What's the United line-up, then?
Vidic ,VDS,and SAF receive their trophies before the match as there is a party atmosphere at OT.
Okay, here it is:
VDS, Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Nani, Anderson, Scholes, Fletch, Park, Drac.
Not that weak - I wouldn't fine United.
Here is United's line up
VDS
Evra
Vidic
Rafa
Evans
Anderson
Park
Nani
Scholes
Fletcher
Berbatov
We're off
I want United. I know we want Blackpool to survive, but it is not United's responsibility to help the Tangerines as the match kicks oss at OT.
STRUTH... BLACKPOOL SHOULD HAVE SCORED!!!!
Unbelievable miss!!!
Nearly 1-0 to Blackpool 25 seconds in as Scholes lost possession and the Tangerines missed an open chance.
Surprised by Park's inclusion and not Owen's
Blackpool may not need United's help if Brum and Wolves get tonked.
It is windy and rainy in Manchester, but sunny in London.
Oh - apparently Blackpool nearly scored at OT! Great start! Come on, you Tangerines!
United have not conceded a first half goal all season
A guy had the entire goal to hit from about eight yards out.. he missed by that much
ooh, a great volley by Rafa.. saved
Park nearly put Nani through then Drac set up Rafael who volleyed straight at Gilks.
I want a Carlito goal explosion at the Reebok!
Shut it
Crainey wins a corner for Blackpool.
Fulham apparently have started better than the Arse at the Cottage. I can't believe that Arse will settle for fourth.
Boy... that was close too!!
A toe nail away from a goal by Pool
Nani was tackled by Charlie Adam and his cross went across the box. That is two great tackles by Charlie Adam.
Great start.. Blackpool creating a lot
Itt is still 0-0 at the sunny Lane.
My boy Nani is apparently playing for Blackpool today. Go on, lad. Stick one in your own net for the Tangerines. You know it's the right thing to do.
ooh Berbatov should have scored... sort of weak shot there
No goals yet anywhere.. come on!!
Well done, Drac. Keep scuffing them wide.
Nearly 1-0 to United as Drac showed great control and his volley was saved by Gilks. The corner was cleared by United maintain possession.
It was saved!
Come on, you Spurs. Stick some goals in pronto.
There's a goal.... no.... Stoke got it in the net but it offside
GOAL! At the Britannia. Stoke have it in the net but it's ruled offside.
Like to hear the crowd's reaction when goals go in
I agree. come on you Spurs!
I want goals. I want goals. I want goals. I want goals....
Still no EPL goals.
Steve Mac says that Blackpool are well equipped to come back up. I don't think so. If they go down, they won't come back for ages
Sandro nearly put Spurs 1-0 up as he shot just over.
Are Spurs going for it?
It depends. Of they can keep most of this squad then they are more talented than other Championship teams. If they sell over half their squad then they don't stand a chance of coming back up.
I agree - it's going to be an even more competitive league next season with Southhampton coming up and West Ham going down. Plenty of sides around who can challenge for the top spots.
They have to . If they finish in sixth then they qualify for the Europa League as the Fair Play Team and their season starts a month earlier. If they finish fifth then they start in a much later stage of the competition as they would be qualifying through their league position.
At present, a point will be good enough for Wolves and Blackburn.
First goal of the day.. at Upton Park... to Sunderland
Sunderland have scored the first goal of the afternoon. More misery for West Ham.
Another goal... Newcastle take the lead
Only goals come from two games that mean nowt!
Sunderland have taken the lead at Upton Park through Zenden in a match that has no significance.
Newcastle have scored against the Baggies. Still no goals in the crucial matches.
Newcastle have taken the lead against West Brom .
Que Sera Sera makes it's debut at OT
The sun is out at OT.
How ironic would it be for Blackpool to win at OT and still go down
Great crowd noise at OT.
Blackpool free kick....short one. Cleared.
Did everyone see my post as to why Spurs have to go for it vs Brum. Not good news for Birmingham.
ONE NIL!!!
PARK WITH THE GOAL
Jeff is frustrated by the quiet start to the matches.
YES! PARK SCORES AS HE WAS PUT THROUGH BY PARK. a SUPERB PASS AND FINISH. 1-0 UNITED!
Bugger - that's not good at all. Blackpool in real trouble now.
Did you see that Nani was voted Player's Player of the Year at OT... really surprising! They all looked fed up with him when he shoots!!
well stated Macca! it was a simple goal, yet excellent!
Blackpool now on 39 points and -22 GD. Second bottom.
I'm not surprised. My boy Nani should have been the FIFA World Player of the Year IMHO.
Taylor-Fletcher crosses and Vidic clears for a corner.
Nice passing by Blackpool... why can't Taylor Fletcher cross with his left foot
The low corner by Adam is cleared by Evans as he is Jonny on the spot.
Goal somewhere....at Wolves... to Blackburn
Big Nose is yelling now. There's a goal somewhere. At Molyneux. Blackburn have scored! Wolves in trouble now.
I like ESPN saying the scores during the match. FSC don't do that
Blackburn have taken the lead at Wolves through Jason Roberts.
Dangerous free kick by Adam.. just too deep
Wolves and Brum level on points and GD now. Who has scored more goals? It's Wolves - they're still in 16th at present.
We need goals at Shite Fart. Come on!
Fulham take the lead against Arseanl... what has happened to Steve's lot... I feel for him
The goals are flying in now. Fulham are 1-0 up over the Arse. Citeh looking comfy for third spot now.
As things stand, Blackpool and Wigan would join the Hammers as Leeds' opponents. Steve Sidwell has given Fulham the lead vs the Arse.
I'll take a two nil win here... Berbatov with a goal
It's clear to me that there is a link between participation on the LOB and club success, don't you think?
If Spurs finish fifth then Fulham would be the Fair Play Team in the Europa League.
I'll look forward to us rattling some goals by Wigan at the DW next season.
Me thinks so
Is this Scholsey's last match at OT?
Arse players are already on summer hols, apparently. They'll need to rest up for that long trip to Dubrovnik.
I agree, BD.
This Tuesday is Gary Neville's testimonial game against Juve
Beckham back in a United shirt
FSC showed Jason Roberts' goal vs Wolves. It took TWO DEFLECTIONS!
RVP scores in his NINTH straight away goal
RVP has equalized for the Arse. 1-1.
RVP has tied it up for the Arse as it is 1-1 at Craven Cottage.
Come on, you Tangerines!
