Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Meet Mr. Rogers

LUFC fans will be saying hello to their new American import Robbie Rogers, who joins the club this week on loan from Columbus Crew. Fans who are interested in finding out whether Robbie will prove to be the missing link for us up front or merely the latest SoCal version of Darren Huckerby need look no further than the players own blog:

Go straight to the journal where you'll get Robbie's recent travel diary and ruminations on the movie "Drive."

A really interesting post that I had a chance to read.I hope for Leeds' sake that Robbie comes to the realization that he may be a superstar in MLS, but will be just another player in the Npower Championship. It is interesting to note that he sets the tone on his site by giving the impression that he is a clean cut person. However it goes South after that , culminating in the picture you posted. I hope Simon Grayson got a good player, but I wonder what he got after looking on the robbie.I hope it works out for LUFC.

I hope you're right, MUR; however, I fear that Robbie will soon find himself down the Majestik with a alco-pop in his mitt and some skanks at his side.

I am thinking the same. He starts out by stating that he is clean cut and religious, but it goes quickly downhill after that.I wonder if Simon did his homework on this player. Will he be spending more time in the red light district than on the pitch? In his mind there's only one Robbie Rogers, but in the mind of LUFC fans it's either Robbie out or Keano is the real Robbie.

I think this blog is the best thing about Robbie. He seems pretty grounded for a young single professional athelete. Even if the photo of him on his home page is straight up Elijah Wood in "Green Street Hooligan."

Time will tell, but I bet the worst you'll be thinking is that the kid could find a blind alley to run down in the middle of the Sahara Desert. If he can learn to accurately cross it with his left to one of his own players, or better still beat a man in front of him, his days in the pissing dark at the Ell will be well spent.

Oh, one more thing, he's dead on about "Drive." Best movie I saw in 2011 by a mile.
