Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Rumor Mill

News out of Blighty that Rio Ferdinand has been left out of the England squad for this summer's festivities amidst concerns that he can't stand up to the pressure of three (or four) matches in quick succession. The same reports indicate that John Terry will be in the squad. Oh - and Kenny Dalglish is apparently about to walk the plank at Anfield. More news as it comes....

Woy stated he one include JT or Rio, but not both, so it must be JT. Kyle Walker is ruled out through injury. I read that Alex McLeish walked the plank yesterday as Randy Lerner made a special trip from the U.S. to witness the event. He is targeting Paul Lambert as a replacement, but Norwich City officials stated that he is not available. We shall see. Joey Barton is expected to be banned for nine matches due to "cumulative infractions." Tony Fernandes sated that Sparky will be solely in charge of all internal punishments for Barton. The FA officially charged him and will rule on the incidents in the near future. Finally , there will be an all Yorkshire League One final as the Terriers held off a late challenge from the Fake Dons to win 3-2 on aggregate. I would think that we at LOB will be rooting for Simon Grayson's Huddersfield against the Evil Blades.

Hi Dave - I just started a new thread on it. Not liking it because it's still a bit of this and a bit of that. Still too many of the "Golden Generation," who the Fleet Street hacks will pressure Woy into playing (e.g., Cashley, Lamps, Gerrard, JT) and not enough of the kids (e.g., Sturridge). Still - I hope that the side that runs out against France is a youthful one.

King Kenny is no longer king as he resigned as manager of Liverpool.Roberto Martinez is the favorite to succeed at Anfield, but Dave Whelan says he is off limits and that Liverpool needs to sort out their top level management rather than approaching his manager.

I've just posted this on the other thread but I'll ask it again here:

How does Dalglish get the sack after winning the Carling Cup when Fergie and Arsene won nowt this season? Is winning trophies meaningless at this point?
