Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Goal-Line Technology

So... FIFA had a news conference yesterday announcing the introduction of goal-line technology. The technology will first be used at the FIFA Club World Cup in December, followed by the 2013 Confederations Cup and then the 2014 World Cup. The Premier League wants to start it as soon as possible meaning half way through next season. Surely that cannot be fair. What happens if United don't get a deserved goal in November but Citeh get a decision in their favor in March... I think there should not be different rules half way through the season. What about the FA Cup? Will it be used in all rounds? Will it not be used at Port Vale but be used at Old Trafford? Here are some interesting questions asked http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/07/05/article-0-13EFC74F000005DC-233_634x347.jpg Your thoughts? UWS

I would be interested to see how this works.Poor and idiotic from the Premier League. If goal-line technology is not ready at the start of the season then wait until the beginning of the 2013-2014 season.Otherwise the rules and circumstances for the given competition change during the course of the season.Let's give it a try.

Thanks for the post, UWS. I just saw this in the Guardian this morning and you beat me to the punch. I'm delighted with this news. I've been watching the Wimbledon all week and it's shocking how often you see human error (in the form of the umpires missing close calls) corrected by the Hawkeye technology. I'm hoping that this clears up some of the controversy starting next season.
