Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
401 Comments:
And they're off from Goodison Park. I will try and publish an imaage.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
GOAL EVERTON . PIENAAR SCORES AT 1:03 .
ANICHEBE HEADED A CROSS FROM JAGS OFF THE POST AND PIENAAR PUT AWAY THE REBOUND 1-0 TOFFEES.
cAHILL FOULS pIENAAR JUST OTSIDE THE BOX.
OH! nearly 2-0 the free kick from Baines is right off the Sunday roast with cech rooted to the spot.
The free kick was actually from Jelavic. It was a beauty
Morning, MUR - sorry, I was posting in yesterday's thread. Great to have to around this morning.
Cahill cuts out a cros fro an Everton corner.
Great start for Everton here. Could well be two up.
Here's the team news:
Everton: Howard, Jagielka, Heitinga, Distin, Baines, Naismith, Osman, Hitzlsperger, Pienaar, Anichebe, Jelavic.
Subs: Mucha, Oviedo, Gueye, Barkley, Vellios, Duffy, Browning.
Chelsea: Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Luiz, Lampard, Mata, Torres, Hazard.
Subs: Turnbull, Oscar, Moses, Ferreira, Marin, Piazon, Ake.
Referee: Howard Webb
Gppd mrning BD. A greatstart for Everton. Can't post an image for some reason.
Great to be chatting with you. An upset is on the cards. A shame that Someone is not here to enjoy it.
Cech gathers a cross from Baines.
Webbie should camp in the Chelsea half and save his energy
Everton's Hao Bearis serving the fnal match of his suspension, but Chelsea's Hair Bear is on the pitch.
They should certainly have a "Hair-off."
Torres finally gets a touch as he fouls Distin.
I agree with you - Someone seems to prefer posting on Facebook during matches to live blogging.
I would love to judge that one. Cech and Jelavic went forross from Baines and both missed it.
Chelsea finally attack as Torres misses the ball when going for a hader then Ramires has a shot which just misses the corner flag.
Odd behavior from Someone. It defeats the purpose of being on LOB
Everton have leapfrogged over both Chelski and Arsenal into 4th.
Torres with his first successful touch as he passed to Mata.then it rolled harmlessly to Timmy.
You seem to have it in for El Nino this morning, MUR.
Anichebe heads over after Naismith headed across a long throw.
He has done naught this morning. I guess he's not any worse than some other teammmates.
Oh - great save from Cech from a blast by Osman.
Great save by Cech from Osman as he turns a great shot round the post.
Hey Boys
I have been watching the match upstairs for bit
Everton are all over them! They need a deserved second goal!
Another shot saved by Cech!
Yeah - Hazard seems to really be in poor form today - another defensive blunder that nearly led to a second goal.
The short corner does not work and Cech finally gathers a cross.
Morning, UWS! How are you, mate?
Good morning UWS. I aree wioth you 100%
Oh - after all of that, Mata might have equalized but for Timmy - great save!
Brendan Rodgers won't be at the late game today.. he has a virus
CHelsea's first chance.. Mata's effort saved by Howard... or blocked
Great save by Timmy from Mata as Ramires put him through off a great run.
Two people have mentioned that Timmy has been in indifferent form this morning. I can't really remember a big blunder by him, can you?
Fergie has ruled out a January move of Nani... maybe he still has a future at OT
He is still recovering from a hammy right now
I was not aware of that. eother way, I hope both teams lose the second match. Ireally don't care for eother one of them
I think one of the Stoke goals was pretty weak
He's scored an og too I think
I'm here! I'm stressing!
The commentator said earlier that Everton are one of two teams that have not lost at home this season
Who is the other? I think I I know.
I don't see anything wrong with Timmy thisd season. If Naani is injured then it will be difficult to offload him. Perhaps Bob's o wil come to his ense and start pulling his weight.
Morning, Someone - great to have you around. No need to strees - your Toffees have looked really impressive so far.
Morning Someone...the Toffees look impressive
Howard's been alright this season. Everton have not been able to put any matches away this season. Defense has conceded too may late goals.
I was right about the other team
Do you know?
Good morning Someone. A fantastic performance from the Toffees. we are here to support you.
Right now, Chelsea are down to fifth... with a game in hand mind you... against Southampton
I reckon United would be mad to sell off my boy Nani
I am not sre, but I am going with the Baggies.
Everyone has Chelsea love, eh?
Struth... that was close!
Knock it off Chelsea.. you deserve nowt from this
Surely the other team is United, right?
Incorrect
No...lost to Spurs
United lost at home to Spurs. I know it's not them
Chelski are hard to love this season, don't you think? I have grudging respect for them, especially when the front three are clicking but no love.
Is it Stoke?
How about West Brom?
That is how I feel abotu Chelski, BD
ooh, just wide by Velavic
Oh - great sweeping move by Everton and Jelavic pulls another save out of Cech. He's been busy!
Cech does well to tip a shot from Jelavic around the post.
Chelsea are starting to put together some flurries. Everton's back four are holding firm.
Jelavic has to start burying his chances.
Cech punches away the corner as Everton lead 5-0 in that category
Torres offside from that pass by Ramires.A quiet start for La Nina
Was Stoke the correct answer, UWS?
Lamps has a long range effort deflected harmlessly to Timmy.
Stoke is the correct answer... that almost ended yesterday
Not a bad cross by Vic that Naismith heads harmlessly wide.
Ramires has been the furthest man forward on several occasions for Chelski. Odd formation.
Free kick chance for Lamps? David Luis?
Lamps with a weak shot... corner
Ivanovic blasts from distance and it sits up nicely for Torres. Blocked out for a corner.
Lamps has a long range free kic blocked and Torres has a shot deflect off of distin for a corner that was cleared. Chelsea's first corner of the match
First corner for Chelsea. get it out of there!
Ack. Lampard ties it.
The Sun says that Real Madrid are going to offer 22 Million pounds for David De Gea
Bugger... Chelsea score a very undeserved equalizer
GOAL! Lamps levels it for Chelski. They were starting to put some pressure off and they've taken their chance. Good cross from Ramires and Lamps is deadly from that range.
1-1!
BUGGER!!! 1-1 AS RAMIRES CROSS FOR LAMPARD TO HEAD HOME. RAMIRES RECEIEVED THE PASS FROM TORRES. IT ALL STEMMED OFF THAT FIRST CORNER OF THE MATCH
I would snap Jose's arm off to secure that deal. I'm not sure that Twilight is ever going to make a solid keeper for you. He's been at OT for two seasons and still looks scared as a kitten at times.
This is an Everton pattern all season, conceding late goals in the half. How do you leave Lampard alone in the box?
Everton have dominated, but I guess they have paid the price for failing to put away their chances.I guess they are out of the top four now.
I would defnitely take the 22 million. I hink Lindycould do a decent job and at least we wouldn't have to ask who is our starting keeper.
Interesting place for a Baines free kick, not much comes out of it. The soon to be departed Heitinga fires it into the bleachers.
Mata blocks a shot from Torres in stoppage time.
Half time.. what a shame about the ending.. but Everton still looked impressive to me
I was looking forward to a battle between the hirsute Luiz and Fellaini, but the killjoy FA ruined that by banning Fellaini for the perfectly reasonable loafing of Shawcross.
Halftime and 1-1 from Goodison in a thoroughly entertaining first half.
Well - that half buzzed by in a hurry. Good value for the punters. 1-1.
Everton came out on fire, and burned out in the 40th minute. Let's see if they can carry any ambition in the second half. Chelsea have a much stronger bench.
Good morning Gooner. I agree with you 100%. It would have been Hair Bear vs Goldilocks.
I want to see Fellaini and Luiz knock heads and get stuck together like velcro.
I read that Mancini is going to appeal the red card on Nasri. I don;t think Citeh have a chance and will probably have a match added to the suspension.I guess it gives the player Gooner loves to loathe a mid season rest. Strategic Mancini!
Nice one, Someone!
Rumors are going around that old United target, Sneijder, is being sought by Liverpool
I heard that Arsenal may in for Belgian goalkeeper Mignolet - any thoughts about that one, Gooner?
Fox Soccer just said Guzan is Villa's star goalkeeper. Wonder if anyone's going to go for him in the transfer window.
He's been Villa's best player and he's let in 15 goals!
Cech being replaced by Chelsea... must be an injury
Teams back out - a strange change that for Chelski. Ross Turnbull coming on for Petr Cech. Must be a knock.
STRUTH! Ross Turnbull is no for Cech. It must have been due to an injury as the second half is underway
Cech out?!?
Brendan Rodgers ill and will not be on the sidelines Wednesday.
One less sub for rafa.
I would take Guzan or Mignolet at OT. Bothare better than any keepers we have.I agree with UWS that he's been Villa's best player anthat is dspite letting in all those goals.
Poor foul by Cahill on Baines. Should have been a booking
Every time I see Brendan Rogers on that "Being Liverpool" clip, I want to knee him in the balls. Anyone else have that reaction?
A scratch and torn shirt. ZHow was that accidental? CHEAT!Offside is called off tghe cross from Hitz. When did he join the Toffees?
Nasty scrape on Baines' back!
Everton have to finish their chances this half. No more posts!
Hitz was a free transfer a couple of months back. He's only signed through January
I don't watch the show. I did once for five minutes ,becme disgusted an turend it off for the reason BD mentioned.
Ta, Someone. It sounds like a loan deal.He hasn't had much playing time.
I haven't been able to stomach a full episode either, MUR, but the advert is enough to put me off.
I'd rather see Orvieto or Barkley get some playing time, but Hitz has not been terrible.
The commentator seems to be focusing on Sideshow Bob's contribution - not sure why.
STRUTH! It's supposed to rain from Monday evening through Wednmesday afternon. BD and Gooner will arrive at an unusually wet Harlingen.
I watched every episode with the boys
Nice through ball to Torres, but Timmy did well to rush out and gather.
Vic did well there, good effort but could not quite get the ball to Naismith.
Torres could not get anything on that one.
Oh - great ball over the top by Sideshow to Torres who missed the trap entirely. There are times when Torres looks like a substandard high school striker.
SHOCKING BEHAVIOR FROM THE NOCITOS!RATHER NAUGHTY!
That's alright, MUR - we'll be bringing the sunshine. ;-)
Torres fails to beat Howard... great pass by Hazard... offside though
Howard with the save on the offsides fernando.
Great save by Timy from Torres, bui it did not matter as the offside flag was raised.Chelsea movng in to top gear
We recorded it!!!
Everton starting the second half how they ended the first. Come on!
I just love watching stuff about a STRUGGLING Liverpool!! A pale version of the 70s and 80s club.... LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!
quite right, BD!Lookin forward to it.Our house rule is that Being Liverpool cannot be televised.
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand tweets: "Fancy Torres to get the winner here after all the booing... anyone else?"
I guess that is a justiofication, but the five minutes I saw was rather sickening and obnoxius.
No problem, there. I'll be bringing along something a bit special that I just got through half.com.
Baines wins a corner.
I didn't think it was bad at all
Rio's obviously been smoking some of the good stuff again this morning.
Best part was the subtitles for Jamie Cara and not any of the foreign players!!
I've been on that site. We will make sure to keep you lads busy.Poor corner was cleared.
Rubbish foul there by Ramires on Baines. Gives the Toffees a chance now.
IAgreed, BD, I heard about that , UWS! Nice ones. Azpiecuitia fouls Baines a foot outside the box.
Free kick chance for Everton to the left of the area... cleared... corner
Poor corner and Everton cannot get close to Turnbull.
Free kick just outside the box. Ivanovic and Luiz using their height to advantage.
The free kick from Baines headed away by Ivanovic
Jags hooks back a corner from Baines and Turnbull gathers, but the ball did not cross the line.
what do Merseysiders call Liverpool?
Speaking about telly, Gooner and I were watching a new BBC America series called "Peep Show" during the Christmas break - really funny; check it out.
Pienaar goes in for a nasty hack on Sideshow Bob and then appeals that "God made me do it." Yellow card.
Will do. Pienaar booked for a foul on Goldilocks.
Luiz is a heathen.
Would anybody like to venture a guess???
Apparently so, Someone.
I have no clue, MUR.
Chelsea getting some corners.
Tirres stings the palms of Timmy and it's out for a corner. The corner is cleared
?
The answer is Not a Big Club.
Everton are like a different team this half
Nope - I reserve that name for Sheffield Wednesday.
Greatsave by Turnbull from Osman and it is cleared away
Turnbull tips around a nice effort by Osman.
Now - it's Jelavic's turn to hit the crossbar.
Osman with a decent shot saved by Cech's replacement
Now they hit crossbar!
Turnbull gives up a juicy rebound on an Osman shot, but no one there to pick it up.
And jelavic hits the bar, again. Remember that one.
The Heathen stitches one back on the Believer.
OH! headed off the bar by Anichbe off a great cross from Jelavic.
Warren Barton was making a note of the number of times that Everton has hit the woodwork this season - definitely true in this match.
Goldilocks was booked for that free kick he conceded
Just been delivered some pancakes by the misses... lemon and sugar on top!
GOAL! Lampard again! Crikey!
1-2!
BLOODY HELL
CHELSEA TAKE THE LEAD
Everton have to connect today. Tired of hearing unlucky, or unfortunate. They want to be in the top four they have to act like one.
And Lampard gets a brace on an inability to clear. This is exactly what Everton's problem has been all season.
Two posts, and the other team takes full advantage.
BLOODY HELL!!! CHELSEA LEAD 1-2 AS LAM,PARD HAS A BRACE. THE CROSS FROM HAZARD WAS NOT CLEARED . GREAT SAVE BY TIMMY FROM MATA AND LAMPS PUT AWAY THE REBOUND.
How many priceless goals does Lampard score? Against the run of play, Lamps knocks one in from an unbalanced position after shots from Hazard and Mata had been repelled.
Remember that post Jelavic hit?
Remember that other post Jelavic hit?
Nice brekkies, UWS.
The Tinkerman goes to his bench - Moses on for a lackluster Hazard.
Victor Moses on for Hazard.
Just what Someone ordered - Moyesy is about to stick on Orviedo.
The one thing Haard did was create that last goal, but otherwise he was mediocre.Everton have hit the upright three times and scored off the first one. The Toffees unfortunate not to be leading, but are trailing.
I'd rather see Barkley, he's not afraid to shoot.
Velios coming on, who is he replacing? Naismith. Good.
Nope - Vellios is first off the bench - replacing Naismith.
Nasty foul by Goldilocks on Osman Vellios is on for Naismith. An extra striker.
Goldilocks is on thin ice, having already been booked and intent on fouling. Webbie is giving hiom too many chances.
And Hitz off for Barkley.
Barkley in for Hitz. Got some fresh legs out there. Come on.
I sense that Desmond is at the door knocking.
Ross Barkley on for a slightly heavier and bearded Hitz
HUURY UP DESMOND!
Any thoughts on Citeh appealing Nasri's red. I think they dn't have a chance. Also Mancini accused Ref, Kevin Friend of eating too much Christmas pudding and said refs have the easiest job in football
And finally it's Orviedo on for the yellow carded PIenaar.
Oviedo on for Pienaar, as Someone ordered
Moyes goes all in. Orviedo in for Pienaar.
I can't see them getting anywhere with it, even though I thought it was slightly harsh. He certainly made contact with the head-butt and then refused to leave the pitch.
I agree. t should really be four. If they lose the appeal then an extra match is added on. A nice mid season rest for Nasri, but he cannot use the free time to gate crash our reunion.
Nice flop by Ramieres, should have been booked.
Come on Everton, get some ambition.
Everton with all of those fresh legs on now are really giving it a go.
Oscar on for Mata
Juan Mata strolls off to be replaced by Oscar.
Desmond wasn't in the loo.... I am sure he is going to show up at Goodison!
Over from Ross Barkley, but nice idea.
Cashley talks himself into the book
Jags clears out a cross for a corner.
Oh - Jags did really well to knock that cross over the top. Could have easily put it in his own net.
Getting late as Barkley fires into the cheap seats.
The corner from Oscar is headed away
Players respect for officials is nonexistent
I think that has to be changed... the thugs of Rugby listen to the ref and accept a call.. start putting a mic on the refs and the players would have to start behaving themselves
