Thanks for posting the thread for today's matches, mate. I should be able to be around for most of the early one and then I have to bugger off for a breast cancer charity event at the Buffalo Bisons.
I'm watching the end of a United friendly with some pick-up side from the A League. United have won 1-5 with two goals from new boy Lindgaard, two from Welbeck and one late one from RVP.
That should quiet the "Moyes Out" voices.
I'm checking in with the preview show on FSC and noting that these panelists will be bowing out in a week after this tournament ends. What a shame!

There is a preseason tournament airing on FSC from July 27th through August 7th. I think that will be the last hurrah for this panel.It used to be called the tournament of Champions, but now goes under a new name.

Just discovered that former Citeh keeper, Bert Trautmann, passed away yesterday , aged 89.
Unfortunately, normal service was resumed yesterday and it's back up in the 90s with heat indices over 100.Glad you got some relief.
Cuba has been getting away with some early shambolic defending and their keeper dropped a long throw but got away with it.
So the winner of this one plays either T&T or Mexico in the semis.

Did you hear that Bert Trautmann joined Mel Smith among those that passed away. Was he the German keeper playing for Citeh in a Cup Final in the 50s?
Quintero of Panama appeared to be tripped in the box, but Yank ref, Mark Geiger , was well positioned and I guess he went down easily.

I believe so - Trautmann was the one shoved over the line by Nat Lofthouse in an incident that would be blown for a foul today.

You are thinking of a different keeper. Nat Lofthouse pushed a keeper over the liner when playing for Bolton vs United a few months after the Munich disaster. Truatmann broke his neck against Brum early in a Cup Final vs Brum and played the remainder of the match in that condition. He was a German paratrooper during WWII , but played for Citeh for about 15 years

Brilliant ball over the top there and didn't the striker do well to guide the ball inside that near post on the volley. Great goal!

The replay shoed it was definite intentional hand ball . I am not sure why Cuba is complaining.
It definitely struck Malblanque's arm but I wonder if there was any intention there.

Yeah - it should be good. One of my colleagues is doing a routine with a group of alums from the Buffalo Jills cheerleading outfit that does the Buffalo Bills NFL games. Should be a fun evening. I purchased a pink Fredonia shirt for the occasion.

Liban Perez is on for Yasmany Lopez. Smart move as Yasmany was begging for another Cuban red card. Also Ciprian lucky to escape punishment with a horrible foul on Panama keeper, Penedo.
Carlos Rodriguez has a cross cut out for a corner off a nice long ball from Quintero.
A possible shout for another panama penalty as a defender handled a shot with his arms out, but probably got away with it due tot he distance rom the shot.

Cuba win their first corner of the match. It is cleared , then a long range effort from a Cuban player nearly clears the Georgia Dome or at least threatens the roof.
OH! Blas Perez did well to turn a defender , then with just the keeper to beats hot about a foot wide.
Great long ball by Ramon Torres as Jimenez got behind the defense and his shot was turned around for a corner.

A goal kick was headed on by the right back and the static Cuban defense gifted Perez a goal.

My satellite came back , but after the match finished. Panama scored two more goals, one through Jimenez and a second from Blas Perez as they ran out 6-1 winners. They play the winners of the next quarterfinal.
Mexico defeated T&T 1-0 in the second match thanks to an 84th minute goal by Raul Jimenez. Mexico will play Panama in the semis.
