Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good morning lads. I'm ready for the action.
A late, late change for the Arsenal this morning - Theo Walcott has a tummy bug, so 17-year old Gnabry is thrown into the Premiership for the first time - and Big Nik Bendtner is back!:
Arsenal: Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Flamini, Ramsey; Gnabry, Ozil, Wilshere; Giroud. Subs: Viviano, Jenkinson, Vermaelene, Arteta, Monreal, Bendtner.
Stoke: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Huth, Pieters; Walters, Wilson, Nzonzi, Adam, Arnautovic; Jones. Subs: Sorensen, Whelan, Pennant, Palacios, Crouch, Etherington, Ireland.
Referee: Mike Dean.
They're off from the EM
Good morning Bob. Great to be with you for the Sunday action.
Since the match is on CNBC then we will need to take stock of the situation.
GOAL !!! MICHU GIVES sWEANSEA THE LEAD AT SELHURST ONLY TWENTY SECONDS. GUESS WHO HAD THE ASSIST?
Young Jack fouled by Shawcross just outside the box.
Mesut Ozil over an early free kick chance now.
Now Swansera have a COIRNER.aNOTHER CORNER AFTER bEN DAVIOES TOOK.
GOAL! A terrific bending low free kick that is only parried out by Begovic and Ramsey knocks it home.
1-0 Arsenal!
GOAL !!! BEGOVIC FAILEDTO PUSH THE FREE KICK AWAY AND RAMSEY SCORED THE REBOUND,
OH! OFF THE POST FROM CHICO FLORES FROM THE SECOND CORNER.
Ozil with the free kick. Another assist.
Ramsey is now giving Giroud a run for his money in the scoring charts. That's six goals in the last five matches for the Welshman.
I'm watching Palace vs Swansea on my NBC link
And to add to Mark Hughes' woes, Mark Walters seems to have twisted his ankle in that goal incident.
Morning, MUR - how are you, mate?
Great defending by Geoff Cameron County On Ozil, Turkey.
Arsenal in full flow now - what a difference a few weeks and some confidence has made on this side.
Great how are you. Home alone till this afternoon, so pretty quiet
Arsenal in full flow and Theo in full flu.
Shouting from the streets of Alex!
It wasn't a tummy bug. Apparently Theo has suffered a "minor pelvic injury." Sounds like he took one to the goolies.
He needs to be nice to the missus.
At Selhurst Park, Michu scored twenty seconds in . An Assist from Shelvey. What an eventful week for Young Frankenstein's twin.
Nice free kick from Shelvey just about headed away
Why is Nzonzi complaining? Obvious free kick.
Gnmabry wins a corner with a nice run. Great tackle.
Begovic easily catches the corner.
I haven't seen a Palace player touch the ball yet. Looks like a training session at Selhurst Park.
Commentator's curse!
walters not injured . He just sent in the cross.
Sparky Hughes not happy with Stoke. He said they stunk at Anfield and it's more of the same at the EM. The same can be said about Palace in thither match
Poor cross from Routledge on his return to Selhurst Park.
Ian Holloway looks a lonely figure at Selhurst Park, sitting in the stands.
stupid foul by Sagana on Adam inches outside the box. Same problems continued from last week when Jozy gave him problems.
Adam into the wall . Now Stoke have a corner. Puncheon into the wall for a Palace free kick
The corner from Adam was cleared and Nzonzi was fouled , but arsenal were awarded a throw.
Arsenal have really taken their foot off the gas now. They're letting Stoke back into this one. They do this so often, particularly at home. They seem to think they only have to play for about ten minutes and then can take a nap through the other 80. Villa punked them in the first match for that very reason.
High and wide by Gibbs on his weaker right foot.
GOAL! Well, that was coming, wasn't. Geoff Cameron with the equalizer!
1-1!
GOAL !!!!! 1-1
AMAUTOVIC HADA SHOT COME OFF THE POST AND GEOFF CAMERON COUNTY PUT AWAY THE REBOUND FOR HIS FIRST STOKE GOAL!
Just as the doc called. Well in, Bob. You saw this coming.
N'Zonzi with a great cross over and Sagna was napping at the backpost. Arnautovic hit it on the full volley. It rocketed off the post and Cameron knocked it home.
I can hear the cursing from Alexandria all the way from here.
Between this and the match on my link, I've seen only one goal less than I did all of yesterday
Now it's Gibbs who's back in bed as Palacios went racing through. Close thing.
Nice pass from Huth to Jones . poor first touch as Merte tackle for a corner that was cleared and Arsenal counter.
Moxy booked for a foul where he failed to live up to his name.
I hope that's a prelude to a high-scoring Manc Derby!
I can hear screaming in the background. Is that Gooner or dad?
Just as long as it's done by the team in red.
Young Jack has a shot deflected for a corner . Nice footie from the Gunners.
The corner was cleared. Michu had a shot deflected off of Gabbidon and it was just over. Shelvey wins another corner.
Michu heads the corner from Ben Davies well over.
One of my numpty FB friends has just posted that she needs a recipe for "gluten free bagels." I've told her that she needs to have her head examined. I don't get the gluten-free thing, at all.
Hey Boys
I had a bit of a lazy morning and watched the first part of the match upstairs
How is the weather in WNY?
Ozil has another chance to swing a free kick in - dangerous one over.
Canas fails to prevent a Palace corner.
Morning, UWS - weather here is a bit better today. We seem to have got the rain out of our system.
GOAL! HIS FELLOW GERMAN , MERTE HEADS ARSENAL INTO A 2-1 LEAD.
GOAL! Per Mertasacker claims another headed goal from a corner!
2-1!
Goal for the Gunners!
Merta's header loops in
Good morning UWS. Agreed about the bagels. A real numpty
The weather in ENY is pretty nice. We had rain over night but it is still no jacket required
Same story with the weather in Harlingen . A lovely morning. I could feel cooler drier air as I let Sparky out back.
Is the match at Selhurst on the telly
Same weather in Harlingen as in ENY and WNY. Nice Phil Collins reference. Was that intentional?
No . It is on a link.
I wonder if we got the same cool front in Texas as in NY. Weather is far too similar for being so far away
Superb save from Rangel by Speroni. Corner Swans.
Speroni catches the corner from Shelvey
Giroud well offside.
Who did get the assist for Swansea's goal?
You asked the question earlier
The story on PDC: He was fined 8000 quid and pleaded guilty to his charge. The standard FA fine for managers.
Shelvey yet again. He's been involved in the last five goals scored for or against the swans.,
Shelvey yet again. He's been involved in the last five goals scored for or against the swans.,
Clash of heads between Merte and Jones . Both players down.
Glad to see both players seem okay
Three minutes of stoppage time from the EM
Canas wins a corner off a counter and pass from Michu
Speroni punches away the corner from Shelvey
One minute of stoppage time from Selhurst Park
Damion Delaney down for Palace.
Halftime and the Gunners lead Stoke 2-1
Halftime and Swansea one up thanks to that goal twenty second after kickoff from Michu
Off to wash up a bit. Back for more in a bit.
Off for walkies
Back from the loo.
The second half underway from The EM
What did the Loo have to say for itself, MUR?
And underway from Selhurst Park. Before that Palace made a sub. Campana on for Delaney, who had a knock at the end of the first half.
It asked " That sh#$^ agian
Gnabry has a go there but Begovic is equal to it.
LOL, MUR!
GOAL!!! SWANSEA TWO UP AT SELHURST PARK.NICE LONG BALL FROM MICHU . SPERONI BLOCKED A CROSS FROM BEN DAVIES THEN THE RETIRN CROSS WAS EASILY PUT IN BY NATAHN DYER
Dyer's first goal for Swansea since the Capital One Cup Final.
Palace giving Sunderland some competition as most rubbishy side in the Prem. Is Ian Holloway safe?
Afters between Moxey and Chico Flores . Moxey, already booked with a tackle on Rangel, who retaliated and was booked for the petulance.
I am back
Oh - Giroud was set up by Gnabry and the Frenchman was greedy when there was an overlapping run.
Great save by Begovic from Giroud and Huth booked for a foul on Gnabry
Huth is booked for a late one on the lively Gnabry.
Holloway was sending down instructions seconds before the goal. A lot good that did
GET AN IPHONE!!!
I have an App for UK radio that has Five Live and Talksport but during matches it is blacked out. I didn't know why TS would be blacked out when I know Five Live have commentary. Well, I have a TS app and you can listen to live commentary on more than one match
I LOVE IT!
BEN Davies straight at Speroni off a pass from Michu
I am watching the other match on NBC Sports Extra.
No thanks, mate - I like my old-fashioned model.
Did Ozil get the assist for the first goal? It was a shot not a pass!
Giroud is getting frustrated. He had another good chance but bent it well over the bar.
I still can't watch NBC Live because of Time Warner
BD, I thought you were looking into an iPhone?
The answer to your question is that I think Ian's job is safe. They are not expected to do well and who would do any better with that group of players? Paolo has a far more talented group of players and should be doing far better.
Apparently he did. I don't get that either. Begovic should get the assist, to be fair.
Is Carzola hurting or just not in the line up?
TalkSport was saying that the beginning of the second half, Ramsey has moved inside and Wilshire is out on the flank
Ozil did assist on the first goal. Alvaro Vasquesz just missed a sitter for Swansea.
IAN with directions on the microphone. The last time he did that Swansea scored.
BTW, Tony did pick the Arse to win this week
Stephen Ireland, the forgotten man, is coming on for Charlie Adam.
Ozil straight to Begovic with the free kick.
Has he won some dosh this weekend?
I think he was signed on a season long loan on transfer deadline day. I forgot about that!
I could use some dosh
I think Cazorla is hurt; however, I can't imagine him getting right back into the side ahead of Ozil and Ramsey who are both in great form.
de Guzman on for Vasquez, who missed a sitter minutes earlier.
I agree, Bob. Carzola and Juan Mata should discuss that in therapy!
Ozil was never going to score from that angle.
Nice shot by Wilson and Sussudio tips it around.
Decent save from Susseudio from Nzonzi. The corner is cleared, but Stoke keep possession.
I do not understand what Jose has against Juan Mata. He was arguably Chelski's best player last year along with Hazard and Oscar in the midfield diamond. Why break that up and bring in some untested players like Shurrle and de Bruyne?
A shot from Puncheon is sliced behind by Ashley Williams for a Palace corner. The corner from Puncheon was headed out by Michu, but Palalce have a decent spell of possession.
I don't understand what Jose is doing. I don't get it.
Palacios is coming on to add some steel to the Stoke backline. Pieters coming off.
Palacios on for Eric Peeters
Wigan host Ipswich in a Championship match this morning
Jerome Thomas on for Barry Bloody bannon and Dwight Gayle on for Cameron Jerome as the debut boys are replaced. The final roll of the dice for Ian Holloway
That's a mid-table clash.
A corner from the forgotten man is easily cleared by the Gunners
Naughty by Chamakh on Canas.
This is Jose's thoughts.... to Jamie Redknapp
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2428952/Jose-Mourinho-Chelsea-manager-Jose-Mourinho-Jamie-Redknapp.html
Correct Bob. Would a wigan win move them closer to the playoffs?
3-1!!
Sagna with another looping header
Again, another assist for Ozil... all cheap
GOAL! There's another assist from Ozil! A long free kick over and Sagna gets on the other end of it.
3-1!
Poor push by Wlaters on Young Jack and
GOAL !!! 3-1 GUNNERS AS SAGNA HEADS IN A CROSSFROM OZIL. A COLLECTOR'S TIEM AND AH AT-TRICK OF ASSISTS.
Suddenly Arsenal have become the set-piece kings and Stoke are looking as flimsy at the back as Arsenal used to. What a turnaround.
Miachi and Monreal on for Ganbry and who else? A Prem debut for Miachi for the GUnners . but he did have some when on loan to wigan
IS that five assists for Ozil in two matches?
Arsenal usually like to have a young Asian player on the books - good for the shirt sales in Tokyo.
Pennant on for Jones. The final roll of the dice for Hughes and definitely not snake eyes. A return to the EM for Pennant.
Marc Wilson wins a corner off of Miachi
It still seems as if Arsenal might concede a second goal.
Shawcross wins a corner off of Sagna.
Shawcross heads well wide
Too true, Bob. You have a keen business eye. It pays to watch CNBC!
Leon Britton on for Canas. Like for like as Laudrup sees out this match
It must be in the air while watching CNBC.
Good news.. no delays in F1 race in Singapore... it just finished so we will have no problem with the derby.
Speaking of the derby
1504:
LINE-UPS - Man City v Man Utd (1600 BST)
Man City: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Toure, Nasri, Navas, Aguero, Negredo
Man Utd: De Gea, Evra, Ferdinand, Rooney, Smalling, Vidic, Carrick, Young, Welbeck, Valencia, Fellaini
Arteta on for Ozil for his first appearance of the season.
Michu has a goal disallowed for offside. Was just off
No RVP!!!!!!!!!
MIchu shoots wide from a narrow angle as there are now gaps in the Palace defense.
He's not even in the squad!
WTF? Fellaini up front?
GOOD news about delay. Bad news about RVP. Wish we hadn't sent Lingard out on loan.
So that's no goals this weekend for any of the three players on four goals or the two players on three goals.
No, it would be Rooney and Welbeck
Definitely WTF! What's up with Moyes? RVP injured?
I have FIve Live up and running.
I'll let you know if I hear about RVP
Definitely something in the air with CNBC!
Wigan take an early lead against Ipswich
Hope Wellie has a decent match
RVP was injured in training yesterday
Worm finally with a save, from Chamakh, but offside, so not a save.
BUgger! Thanks for the update.
I wish I had more confidence in our wide men?
Where are the days of Giggs and Kanchelskis?
Coppell and Hill? Morgan and Best?
THe early bird got the Eagle, not the worm, at Selhurst Park.
It better just be a knock
Agreed UWS. we still have GIggs, LOL!
It must be a knock.
United's bench
Amos, Evans, Hernandez, Nani, Cleverley, Kagawa and Buttner
Where's the young lad that came on last week?
I sure hope so.
I still want Zaha. He's a good wide man.
Looks like Moyesy is getting the side ready for the Capital One Cup in midweek.
Palace fans heading fir the exits and Ian looking forloned. Four minutes of stoppage from the EM/
Yeah - what's happened to Zaha? Palace could really use him if you lot are just going to stick him in the reserves every week.
I Sure hope not. The Manc Derby is priority.
Does Moyes not rate Zaha as much as SAF
Five minutes of stoppage time from Selhurst Park. stepehen Ireland booked. Is he called the forgotten man because he forgot how to play football?
Ramsey almost adds to his career high goal scoring
Tipped over
Ramsey has a shot tipped over by Begovic off a pass from Ramsey. See what I said about Ireland
Off for a well-needed shower ahead of the big one.
Where are the days of kit men at Arsenal??
Their shirts say
100 Years in Islington
193-2013
Arsenal vs Stoke
and then the date!
They are going to wear one shirt per week???
Two consecutive short corners . The Gunners win 3-1.
A late Palace corner.
THe corner is easily cleared and Swansea easily win 0-2 at Selhurst Park
Rooney needs one more goal against Citeh to be the highest scorer in United derby history
Rangers won 0-1 at Forfar. They continue their 100% record outscoring the opposition 24-2 and five points clear
Hope it happens for Roon and often.
OFF for walkies on a lovely morning.
