Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I have no idea how I double posted that one!! Great start! Lucky I won't be around for the match!
Good morning BD and UWS. I will be back in a tick.
Morning, boys - Yashley is the subject of all the tabloid chatter this morning. Is he a Big Time Diver or is it all hype?
The teams for today's clash:
Southampton: Boruc, Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw, Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Rodriguez, Osvaldo, Lambert.
Subs: K. Davis, S. Davis, RamÃrez, Ward-Prowse, Guly, Chambers, Hooiveld.
West Ham United: Jaaskelainen, Demel, O'Brien, Collins, Reid, Noble, Nolan, Diame, Morrison, Jarvis, Maiga.
Subs: Adrian, Rat, Tomkins, Collison, Taylor, Lee, Vaz Te.
Peter Drury and Gary O'Reilly on the mics this afternoon.
Hello Bob. Back from dropping the girls off for Sunday School.
Oh - Diame did really well to get beyond Shaw and then pulled a good save out of Boruc.
Yashley is a big time diver. I agree with Moyes, but agree with Robbie Earle that it should have been handled in private.
Boruc missed the corner , but got away with it.
A Nigel Adkins and South Coast Sunday. His current club were held 0-0 at home by Brighton.
Jarvis crossed straight to Boruc.
Great block by Jussi from Osvaldo after a great run by Gaston Ramirez. Corner.,
Jussi punched away the corner then a foul was called.
This seems a fairly evenly-matched game.
Some comical defending by the Hammers there nearly let Ricky Lambert in.
Good morning Bob. it sure does . The winner will finish between fourth and seventh depending on gd, rubbing shoulders with the Manc clubs and Chelsea.
Ravel Morrison the former United trainee lectured for a rather naughty challenge.
Oh - Shaw got round the back of the Hammers defense but he couldn't find a man in the middle.
Young Shaw with another nice run and cross, that was cleared,
Shaw crossed, not Shawcross. Sound about right?
Still early doors - I expect both of these sides to be safe but not contesting for any pots.
That's about right, mate.
Despite that, each side has had a decent chance.
I wish you were in the studio, so I could talk about the three Robbies. You could say it's good morning from me and good morning from them.
Decent long range effort from Diame, just over. He looks the Hammers' main threat
Jussi saves easily from Lambert.
I winder if Bob is on FB. I let a few of the conservatives have it the other day.
Jarvis wins a corner off of Cline. He has made several good runs down the left
I noticed that you had a go at John Morrow for his Jesus post.
Very alert as always. Mike Cunbow responded and I had a go at him for his Muslim bashing. I told him to quit being prejudice.
Naughty by Diame and booked for that.
Osvaldo wins a corner.
A waste as Osvaldo was called for climbing off the corner.
I think maybe Dave had the right idea this morning. The nuts and bolts aisle at Home Depot beats this lot for entertainment level.
Jarvis was offside, but great block by Boruc from Nolan , who was through on goal.
I would say it's about a tie. Lowes would beat this for entertainment.
The weather in Harlingen had been like this match since Friday, but the rain sure has been beneficial.
A bit naughty there from Schneiderlin. What will the ref do?
Nasty by Lovren on Diame. Why wasn't he booked?
Sorry. Was it Schneioderlin. Looks like it should be a booking. Andre Marriner does absolutely nothing!
Sparky and Fred do their best to imitate Schneiderlin.
Marriner is a bit lax this morning.
Guy Demel grabs Lambert just outside the box. Not too clever
Rodriguez heads the free kick well over.
Sparky and Fred are being naughty like some of the players with their rash challenges. I can't tell the difference. Now Fred is next to me by the monitor and Sparky is scratching to go out back!
Poor Sparky. It just started raining again.
Are you going to have to pull out some yellow or red cards for them?
Not far off by Ravel Morrison, showing what he learned at the MUFC Academy.
I don't think so. They stopped just in time. Sparky is about back in the rain taking care of business.
Northoventry take a 2-1 lead vs the Gills in the 83rd minute.
A corner to Sotton. It's cleared and an attempted break from Jarvis comes to naught.
Sparky back inside .Elizabeth giving him some sympathy because he got a little wet out back.
Two minutes of stoppage time. I wish there were none.
Yeah - blow up Andre - this has been dire.
Great pass by Osvaldo to release Jay Rodriguez, but AYA type ball control puts a quick halt to that
One more inconsequential attack by Soton and that should about do it.
Lallana heads well over and that is that.
About bloody time.
Northoventry have defeated the Gils 2-1 and now are out of the relegation zone, ahead of the Blades on GD. Bob will be pleased. But for the ten point deduction, Northoventry would be in a playoff spot. The newly promoted Gils are second from bottom.
Some other finals :
Reading, PA 0 Brighton Beach 0
Ross Dress for Less 2 Crocodile Dundee United 4
The second half is underway from St. Mary's . Surely, it can't be any worse than the first half.
A decent free kick from Mark Noble and well defended by the Saints.
I wonder if this match put Bob to sleep.
JUssi palmed away a shot from Wnayama for a corner. Not taking any chances in the rain.
Lambert heads on to the post from the corner and a great block by James Collins from Wnayama.
Back from doing a spot of weeding.
The Saints back on the attack . Nice pass from Lambert , but horrible from Jay Rodriguez.
Welcome back. A decent start to the second half. Lambert headed on to the post.
Superb through ball from Osvaldo to Lallana and a great block by Jussi , but poor control from Lallana.
The Saints have made a better start to the second half.
Lovely passing from the Saints and again Jay Rodriguez ruins it. Get him off. He's having a mare.
Still bullish on Lambert for the England squad after the match against Ukraine?
Not really because the rest squad were not any better and he's scored just as often as anyone else.
That's more like it as a bicycle kick from Schneiderlin is blocked by Winston Reid's head for a corner.
I smell a Rat as the Romanian is on for Guy Demel for a Prem debut
I smell a Rat as the Romanian is on for Guy Demel for a Prem debut
Mark Noble booked for a naughty foul.
Nice one, MUR! Boom boom!
Ta, Bob. Nice response to the email. I guess we can watch England vs Monte after the match and after dinner.
Yeah - should be a great weekend, mate.
Superb save from Jussi off a volley from Schneiderlin. Corner to the Saints. Fonte heads wide from the corner by Lallana.
I agree 100%.
Ricky Vaz Te on for Miaga.
The Hammers have not scored a Prem goal since opening and I am starting to see why. Johnno will not be pleased.
Joey O' Brien with a nasty foul learned at the Reebok. Afters between ravel Morrison and Schneiderlin.
O'Brien booked. the correct decision, IMHO.
Fat Sam looks like a drowned guinea pig at this point. He's not happy.
The baby faced James Ward - Prowse, on for Lalana. His thirteenth consecutive sub appearance and actually and England U-21 international. Jussi tips a shot from Lambert around the post.
Nice reference, Bob.
If this result holds up, and it looks likely, the Hammers will land in 10th and Soton just below them in 11th. Seems fair.
Osvaldo had sixteen goals in twenty five Serie A matches at Roma last season. Yet to get off the mark in two Prem appearances.
YEs. It's a fair cop!
The Saints have tried to be positive this half and a late winner would be fair, IMHO.
I agree - neither of these sides will push for a European spot.
Another players from the Saints Academy as Adam Chambers is on for Luke Shaw. Both from the Saints Academy and both U-21 internationals.
Taylor on for Ravel Morrison. Probably not a popular move due to his spell at Fratton Park
even less popular with a cynical challenge.
Decent free kick chance now....
Good ball in by no one on the end of it. Fonte nearly.
free kick from James Ward-Prowse is just too long for Jose Fonte.
Fonte wins a free kick off of Diame.
Same free kick by Ward -Prowse and same result. Too long.
I don't see where the goals are going to come from for the Hammers. They'll just pick up loads of draws.
Winston Reid wins a Hammers corner.,
IT appears to be that way. They are a really dour side.
Oh - what a miss by James Collins - best chance of the match!.
That was a chance and James Collins blasted ell over to Cherbourg. Kevin Nolan would have tucked that rare chance away for the Hammers.
Actually, Rickie Lambert had a header from a corner come off the post while you were weeding.
Winston Reid, hobbling off with cramp.
In the Golden Boot category, Benteke and Giroud both have four goals. Sturridge and RVP have three a piece. Liverpool play tomorrow.
At least the Saints are going for the win. Fat Sam is going for the 0-0 draw with his really negative tactics.
A tight race as I expected.
I wouldn't expect anything less from Fat Sam.
Rickie Lambert wins a late corner off some intricate passing and Diame heads out for another.
Osvaldo looks like he's been working harder on his facial hair grooming than his finishing.
JUssi punches away the next corner.
Four minutes of stoppage time.
Agreed about fat Sam. Osvaldo scored 16 Serie A goals last season. He is capable of being a finisher.
Four minutes of stoppage time to come, mysteriously.
Fonte heads out a long Hammers free kick for a corner.
Another Hammers corner.
JAY Rodriguez heads out the corner from Jarvis
Big shout there for a pen against Rat.
Wanyama lashes it over and that should be that.
Wide by Wayama. Rat would be more like a sewer rat in Fat Sam's system.
Well - that was truly uninspiring, but I enjoyed the chatter, mate. We'll have to wait until tomorrow for some goals. Officially goal starved on a Sunday then. Cheerio!
It finishes 0-0 and Fat Sam's negative tactics seem to have won the day
Cheers Bob. I agree that the banter was better than the match.
