Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

News out of Old Trafford last night that Wayne Rooney had a head injury during training and is out of the match and may even miss the Engurlund matches
He is definitely out today
LINE-UPS - Liverpool v Man Utd (1330 BST)
Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Jose Enrique, Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Aspas, Coutinho, Sturridge. Subs: Brad Jones, Alberto, Sterling, Ibe, Kelly, Flanagan, Wisdom.
Man Utd: De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Young, Giggs, Welbeck, Van Persie. Subs: Anderson, Smalling, Lindegaard, Hernandez, Nani, Valencia, Buttner.
I see Nani and Hernandez have returned from injury and will be on the bench
It looks like Rooney and Valencia are replaced by Giggs and Young
News out of England today that Sir David Frost has died of a heart attack while on a cruise
His famous line... Hello, Good Evening and Welcome!
BBC has asked, what make a match a derby?
Arsenal and Spurs is definitely a derby?
Is Liverpool v United a derby? I say no
Swindon and Oxford think they play a derby match while being 30 miles apart... Liverpool and United are 33 miles apart
I like NBC's coverage again... paper headlines being shown right now
Apparently Stevie G has a collection of shirts swapped during his career... he doesn't and won't have a United shirt!
Sturridge has scored two in two... both winners... let's hope he stops the streak on his birthday!
Bill Shankley would have been 100 years old today
Oh dear... Moyes has never won at Anfield
The cut on Rooney's forehead will keep him out for a couple of weeks
Does that mean he will miss Moldova and more importantly Ukraine?
Shanks would have been 100 tomorrow not today
The winner of this match will go top of the league for a couple of hours at least. Spurs could top them both
A draw won't do the job... a win for any of those three would take them top
A win for Arsenal would move them up from bottom half of the table to 5th
United will be wearing their dark blue/black shirt today
COME ON YOU BLUEBLACKS!!!!!
Good morning UWS. I agree with your post. Also, part of being a Manchester United fan is hatred for Liverpool. Moyes already understands that.
Graeme Le Saux is with Arlo White.
Bugger Le Saux is the color man... he never shut up on Monday
Arlo called this a derby... it isn't!! It is a rivalry!
A derby is against your closest team. Citeh and Everton seem to fit the bill
Ispwich and Norwich a derby. They have no one closer
Morning MUR
Sorry I was a miss yesterday
No internet for most of the morning
Teams coming out of the tunnel at Anfield... NBC just made it
Players coming out of the tunnel. I will not watch the other match on line. This one needs our un divided attention.
No probs, UWS. I am glad you have everything up and working
You'll Never Walk Alone is blasting... they really need the tannoy
I disagree with Arlo. OT is the colloseum of English soccer , not Anfield.
United fans sinning Championee
I thought they had one. They are showing off for the telly. They can walk alone to the pubs drowning their sorrows after a loss.
Now a tribute to Shanks
The Kop holds up cards to make a picture of the legends
Glad they are doing a minutes applause.. United fans wouldn't have bee silent
We're off.
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Decent first cross by United
Then a weak one by Gigs
Hiya boys, it doesn't get any better than this.
They're off and a cross from Giggs is caught by Mignolet.
Good morning Bob.
Morning BD
Le Saux already having too much rabbit
COME ON MAN UNITED!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Nice one, UWS. Wasn't he an announcer on Monday?
Sturridge has a shot blocked for a corner as Young lost possession.
In mu mew house, I am watching the TV on the wall and my computer is situated so I am facing the same way
Untied give the ball away and give away a corner
KNOCK IT OFF
BLOODY HELL... STURIDGE SCORES
Sturridge earns the early corner.
GOAL! It's Sturridge again - wow!
Sorry, lads.
What is Rio going for that ball with his foot
DAMN!Stuirridge heads in a corner from Stevie G. Did Agger head it on?
United just giving th ball away
Liverpool score after only three minutes.
RVP had a chance there!
Well over
Free kick for United. Taken by Giggs headed down by evra and a bicycle kick from RVP is over/
At least that was a chance for United.
why is Roon missing from this match? This is a big match
I posted it earlier... he had a head injury after a clash with Jones yesterday. He may be out of the England matches
United look like me : Having a few too many pints last night. Your thoughts?
Get it over Jones!!!
For the neutral, this match is the business. Great back and forth.
What the heck is Sturridge on this season?
Morning, all.
Sorry. I missed that. I think I missed the first dozen comments.
Decent effort by Welbeck
Good morning Someone. I think he has three, which is top of the pops.
Free kick to United
Too far fir a shot I would think
Lucas gives us a free kick opportunity. He's good for that. A nasty sort.
Morning SS
Dangerous delivery... corner to United
Good response since the goal
Young takes and it deflects for a United corner.
Straight across the six yard box!!
Poor corner from Young , but it broke to RVP who missed it because he didn't expect it.Well stated, Le Saux.
As the table stands, Liverpool top and United 6th
Welbeck fails to get the pass off... come on!
It pains me to say this, but it was an excellent tackle by Stevie G on Wellie.
Of course, Liverpool have only managed a goal a game... so they're done for the day
Nice run by Young... SHOOT IT EARLY WELBECK!!!!
A weird stat this weekend. Only three first half Prem goals have been scored this weekend and the away team has only scored twice this weekend in a Prem match.
Useless corner from Giggs
RVP shoots high and wide from the near post, but he wasn't helped by a poor delivery from Giggsy, who turns 40 on Black Friday.
Did you guys see the non call of a pen for a handball for Sotton against Norwich?
Morning, Someone. I agree - Sturridge is having a hell of a season. Hope it transfers to England.
Didn't see the Norwich match yet.
A brief , but productive trip to the loo. I hope that got rid of all the United errors out of their system
Never a foul on Coutinho. Kind of a dive.
Norwich defeated Sotton 1-0 yesterday. Yellows will be pleased.
Vidic headed away the free kick.
Already much better than Monday
Reason... United, the away team... are trying to score
Interesting , UWS. The teams played a 0-0 draw last season and Norwich got one in that fixture. Pochettino was livid after that match, but was he yesterday when it went his way?
Great sweeping by De Gea.
Swansea take the lead at the Hawthorns
Ben Davies with the goal
Pointless Swansea take the lead at The Hawthorns.I think Paolo's lads are now bottom.
I agree - United making a good fist of this one. After yesterday's crap fest this is a real tonic.
PDC favorite to win the sack race? I wonder if anyone picked him.
Southampton should have had a penalty... I have no idea how Howard Webb thought it was accidental... it was life Gordon Banks arm stretch
Hard to believe that Palace vs Sunderland was the best match and that Palace had the best performance. who would have thunk it?
Sotton were on the wrong end of one at Carrow Road in February too. A strange coincidence. I missed it because I was watching a friend of ours in concert while having a few pints.
Selhurst Park sounded great yesterday
The close shots from the corner with the fans in the background were great
Free kick chance for the England captain... row Q please...saved
Free kick chance for Liverpool. Stevie G to take. Good save from De Gea.
Decent save by De Gea on a curling free kick by stevie g.
Come on Carrick... get your finger out!!!
I as upset that the match was interrupted by a speech from the President. I missed Steven Fletcher's goal. I agree about the atmosphere
I want Hernandez sooner better than later
Liverpool have been the better side in the first half of their first two games and got the lead. They were second best in the second half.... let's hope that continues
BLOODY NORAH! We got Liverpool at OT in the League Cup. This match is more important.
Get the back post Giggs
I agree. I noticed that pattern too.
Isn't Chicha still injured? I think Jozy is too, with a hammy .
That's a tasty League Cup match. Who did Leeds get in the League Cup 3rd Round?
Cross by Jones easily caught by Mignolet.
I am not sure. I didn't even know they made the draw. I found out from arlo.
Yup.. it was the fist out of the bag!
Lots of all Prem games too
Villa v Spurs
West Ham Cardiff
West Brom v Arsenal
Fulham v Eveton
Chelsea travel to Swindon
Battle of Uniteds at SJP
Newcastle v Leeds
Poor foul by Not so Clever Boy on Coutinho. Lucky not to be booked.
A tough one for Leeds at SJP.
Cleverley fouls and gets booked for a foul because he wanted the ball kicked out because Jones was hurt
THE BALL DOESN'T NEED TO BE KICKED OUT!!
Aspas booked. Did he talk himself into the book?
Best name in the Premiership this year - "Aspas" What a cracker!
Another free kick chance for the Reds
Jones did not look good hobbling off.
Well over by Coutiniho... keep up mate
Coutinho takes....and it's high, wide and 'orrible.
Agreed, UWS. Also I am pleased that the free kick from Coutinho was kicked out of Stanley Park.
Thank you Gerry
Not so Clever Boy was booked. I thought he would be.
Jones is being replaced by Valencia.... is he our first choice right fullback!!!
ARRRGH!!
The horrible Valencia is on for the injured Jones.
Smalling could have come on too.
Jones off and Valencia in. Speculation here is that Jones took a knock in the family jewels, but it looks like he landed badly on his ankle.
Did Scott Sinclair go to West Brom on loan or was he brought? He is playing his old club today
"You're shit and you're champions" the Kop is singing.
United losing their heads... grow up boys
Triple XXX tackle there - studs up. Yellow.
Nice turn by RVP to get away, but there was no support. He appeared to be fouled by Lucas. Then he retaliates by fouling Lucas and RVP is booked.
That might have been a pen
I am not sure, UWS, but Sinclair wasn't going to get a game at Citeh
Btw, I consulted the PPP worksheet. Only Gooner picked Paolo Di Canio to win the sack race. The favorites were Alan Pardew and Paul Lambert.
I hate to say this, but the Kop is accurate.
Stupid foul by Carrick... he is off today... another yellow
There will be a red card today
Carrick booked for a foul on Apsas.
And now it's Michael Carrick picking up a yellow. A flurry of cards now that may have some implications later on.
Cynical foul by Carrick gets him a booking.
BTW, on your update for the week two, you said Matt picked Napoli. He did pick Juve
Le Saux talks about fouling for the team. He would know since he did his fair share during his playing days.
I would definitely take off Welbeck for Hernandez
United continue giving the ball away in their own half
Isn't it too late to change predictions? :0)
Isn't Chicha still injured?
Chelskilad trying to log on with no success . Help
I guess not . He's on the bench, so I would too, UWS.
No, that was his original pick
Bob made a mistake
Check your list Bob
Hey Brub... welcome
You even have the Chelsea badge as your picture
Helo Chelskilad. You are on. Great match on Friday. I thought you're lads were a tad unlucky. How have you been?
Two useless pass by Giggs
Two added minutes
Two minutes of stoppage time.
Morning, Chelskilad - you're obviously on because you were able to post successfully. Welcome!
Swansea the only Prem team to score away from home in the first half this weekend.
Did I? Sorry, I'll fix that. It's Juve for the Serie A title for Matt, is it?
RVP and Stevie G getting into it. Stevie G trying to get RVP sent off. Poor on his part. RVP needs to be careful.
RVP and Gerrard getting rather naughty now.
Halftime and 1-0 to Liverpool. Moyes has his work cut out as United will need to improve and make sure they keep their composure.
Swansea one up at the half at The Hawthorns. The only Prem team to score away from home in the first half this weekend.
Hi Guys . Think this might work at last .
Sitting in my local pub with an iPad that has Sky watching the game . At the bar with a lovely pint . Good game so far . Hope you are all well .
Chelskilad
Sent from the home of football !
PS. This season I need all LOB people to support Sunderland when your team isn't playing them . I have them in the Pub Handicap league .
Hello Chelskilad. You were on before because you were able to type a comment. I will try to support Sunderland, but it will be tough due to my strong dislike for PDC.
I hope United get their finger out of their arse during the second half, no pun intended.
Thanks for the effort MUR . I can understand that but any help will be appreciated .
The second half is underway
COME ON MAN UNITED!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
I will help you , Chelskilad.
Second half underway
COME ON UNITED
If Sunderland don't improve PDC may be gone sooner rather than later
Early United corner as a cross from Giggs is headed out by Glen Johnson.
Got the other game later . The owner of the pub is Arsenal . A few of the others are Spurs . Should be fun .
BTW, Tony has been immortalized in Worlington
A painting of scenes from Worlington has the Walnut Tree with Tony sitting at table with a pint in front of him
I;ll send you a picture
Vidic heads wide from the corner as Skrtel fouls him.
I look forward to that. The tea time Derby should be a great occasion at The Walnut Tree.
Great to have you on board, Chelskilad. This one seems set to boil over early in the second half.
Great to have you on board, Chelskilad. This one seems set to boil over early in the second half.
Matt is flabbergasted that Kagawa is not playing... not even on the bench
I think Steve is in Fred Town. I am sure the North London Derby should be interesting from the Cottage too.
A deep corner from Young is headed away and Carrick wins another
Valencia can't beat a man
Another crappy corner by United
Young with a goalbound shot blocked... bugger
Yeah - it's me, Gooner and Dad enjoying a Super Sunday here at the Cottage. Had a big back to school party with a load of colleagues last night.
Looking forward to hosting you lot on October 11th.
Johnson with the block on a hard shot by Young.
THE corner is headed away and a rocket from Young is blocked. Better from United/
I am looking forward to it. I am really excited. Also looking forward to a break from the heat and humidity.
GET IT OVER YOUNG!!!
Another useless pass by Carrick
Again.. Valencia can't get the ball over
Valencia WINS A CORNER OFF A NIUCE PASS FROM gIGGS.
Will be ordering my Sunday roast to eat between games.
Mignolet punches away the corner.
Lovely - Yorkshire pud with that, Chelskilad?
United kick the ball straight out of bounds
A perfect meal for that match and I am sure may LOBers will be hoping that the Gunners roast Ted Lasso's lot for all four quarters
You'll definitely get that - should be a bit parky by mid-October.
I can't believe how bad Carrick is playing
Should be a great atmosphere from The Walnut Tree and The Cottage.
I Second that, UWS. Looking forward to it, Bob.It's been in the 90s the past few weeks.,
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Evra has as hot blocked as Mignolet and Agger collide, going for a cross.
Gooner isn't very optimistic about the North London Derby.
Nice foot work by Wellie and that looked a decent shout for a pen./
Outrageous dive by Welly there.
Never a pen.. stay on your feet Welly
I wonder why. Spurs have yet to score from Open play in the Prem and played two of the easier sides. I think he should be.
Young booked for afoul on Henderson after losing the ball.
Great question , Arlo. Will it finish 11 vs 11?
Sterling on for Apsas. It will give the United defense something o think about.
Why is Welbeck so deep and wide
Young loses the ball yet again
