Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

As with last weekend, this is wonderful coverage. NBC just allow the crowd atmosphere to do the talking, with Rebecca Lowe laying out for a few minutes. Then to a last minute advert and back for kick-off. It seems so easy.
Good morning Bob. I'm here for a little while. How was your week?
Good morning Bob. I'm at work and will be following along as much as possible.
Morning, MUR - I had a long, exhausting but good week. How's the Bat Mitzvah girl this morning - full of nerves?
THE Ohio State is working you far too hard these days, Someone, but welcome!
The rain is absolutely pelting down at the Cottage now and it's making the playing surface a bit zippy.
Good Morning Someone.
Oh - Taraabt was straight through before being tripped up by Private Jenkinson. No card from Webby.
Poor foul by Jenkinson on Kasami.
Riise can launch one...and does. Well wide.
My son's treatment schedule is over, back to what passes for normalcy next week.
The Bat Mitzvah girl did well with Friday night services . She was slightly nervous , but did fairly well. She is still asleep.
Wishing the best for your son. Hope all goes well.
It's raining it's pouring. The old men footie coaches are snoring.
Great to hear, Someone.
Robbie Stockdale with a great save from Theo. Corner to the Gunners.Risse heads the corner from Theo out for another
A number of corners for Arsenal now. They usually don't take advantage of these - and don't.
Theo takes and a header from Giroud is cleared off the line from Risse and eventually Arsenal get another corner. Sgana heads the next corner over.
Two former players and a former ref listed among the commentators. Interesting!
GOAL !!!! GIROUD GIVES THE GUNNERS THE LEAD.
GOAL! The flag stayed down and Giroud stabbed home!
A bit fortunate there. Ramsey, who was the MOTM on Wednesday, blasted one and when the deflection came free it dropped into Giroud's lap and he merely had to stab home.
0-1 Arse!
Ramsey took a shot that ended up being a through ball to Giroud. It surprised the Fulham defense and Gioroud finished easily past Stockdale.
Ramsey took a shot that ended up being a through ball to Giroud. It surprised the Fulham defense and Gioroud finished easily past Stockdale.
That's Giroud's third goal of the season, two of which have been in the Prem, which brings him level with RVP, Welly and Benteke, potentially giving Gooner six points.
Oh - great double save by Sussudio!
UWS thinks that Arsenal lost to Villa last week because Villa are that good. I don't buy it. Your thoughts?
Carzola shoots straight at Stockdale, who had trouble handling the wet ball.
Great noise from the away support now, using the White Stripes to serenade Caz.
Ramsey picks up a yellow and the commentator calls on former referee Mark Halsey to comment on it. Not sure about that policy.
I think Villa will finish around eighth to tenth, like a west Brom. Arsenal should win those type of matches. However, Villa gave Chelsea a game too.The red card and conceding two penalties really hurt the Gunners in that match
0-0 at the Reebok between Bolton and QPR at half-time.
That's a new policy. FSC did that during the Confeds Cup with "Dr. Joe."
I'm thinking bottom half for Villa, as I don't expect Benteke to hang around long.
They are two former Prem teams that expect to be challenging for promotion.
I remember that. I suppose I prefer Halsey to "Dr. Joe."
That will be the key. However, the young players such as Weimann have really improved. Guzan will be a key player too.
Did I hear cheering and dancing in the streets of Alex?
Definitely - Big Brad will have his work cut out for him this season.
Stupid foul by Carzola on Taraabt just outside the box.
Taraabt earns a cheap one right outside the area. Dangerous.
Villa still remind of the west Brom side of last season , so I expect a similar position of around eighth. As you said , a lot depends on Beneteke.
Oh - Kassami hit it and the shot deflected through the wall but was collected by Sussudio.
The free kick from Kasami is easily saved by Seudio thanks to a deflection.
That Arsenal wall was holier than a slice of Gruyere.
Taarabt drags a shot well wide.,
Taraabt was a bit greedy there taking a shot from a poor angle.
BOOM BOOM!Also more holes than Swiss cheese!
Scott Parker curls a shot over . Decent effort.
I heard that Wenger was a loose cannon in the dressing room after the defeat to Villa. Your thoughts?
Cheers, mate!
I don't like the fact that Mark Halsey was consulted over an obvious decision. Never an intentional elbow by Drac.
Oh - end to end chances here. This is a cracking match.
The Gunners break and Gibbs shoots wide off a pass from Theo.
Risse lectured for a trip on Theo when he should have been booked.
GOAL! Poldi makes it 0-2 Arsenal!
Cazorla was the architect there. In loads of space to play in Theo who drew a save out of Stockdale. When the ball rolled back out, Poldi only had to place it.
Poldi drags an effort wide as I missed the goal thanks to a long loo trip.
Halftime and the Gunners are two up at the London Cottage, nit the WNY Cottage.
Half-time and Arsenal fans will be delighted by that.
I just saw the goal and though it was well worked. Carzola passed to Theo, who had a shot from a narrow angle beaten away by Stockdale and Poldi scored the rebound from just outside the box.
The second half is underway from Craven Cottage.
We're away from Craven Cottage and my shopping trip is off. Our LOB friend The Red Devil's daughter is sick. So I'll be around for the duration today.
Great save by Seudio from Tareabt to turn around the post.
I will be around until the end of this match. Sorry about Red Devil's daughter being ill. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
You know how it is with three year olds - they pick up loads of germs at day care.
Great solo run by Parker., rolling back the years. Great tackle by Sagna.
I sure do. we dealt with that about ten years ago. We don't miss that at all.
It's raining, it's pouring. Old man Wenger isn't snoring!
Had a chat with the Gooner who is watching with my dad at half-time. He's not entirely pleased by the Arsenal performance.
Theo drags an effort well wide.
I think he should be pleased considering Craven Cottage is a difficult place to get a result and the long trip to Turkey.
Great slide tackle by Risse on Theo for a corner after a free , flowing move.
Poldi blasts a shot into the Thames off the corner.
Screaming , not cheering in Alex?
Cheering, yes, but some grumbling as well.
Darren Bent, Fulham's recent signing from Villa, about to come on.
Grumbling Gooner!
Theo heads down a cross and Ramsey has a shot deflected for a corner that almost went in . Wanted a penalty
Andy Johnson has given QPR the lead at The Reebok.
Never a pen
Almost into stoppage time in that match
Darrent Bent coming on to replace Damian Duff.
Darren Bent on for Damien Duff. He's on loan from Villa. A good move as Fulham need goals.
Not sure what that need for goals has to do with Darren Bent, though. ;-)
Darren Bent has scored against the Gunners for four different clubs. He likes playing vs the Gunners
BOOM BOOM!
Who will keep the bench warm. Every team needs them
Kachiniklic on for Tarrabt.
Reither is certainly getting some great crosses over but there's no one to capitalize on them.
Oh - Kasami and Drac got in each other's way.
GOAL !!!! GUNNERS THREE UP AS POLDI HAS A BRACE.,
GOAL! Poldi hits a left foot rocket! Arsenal home and, well, not so dry.
Poldi now goes level top scorer with the others on two each. And what a difference a week makes. Arsene looks like a drowned ferret but he's happy nonetheless.
Great run and cross by Carzola and great finish by Poldi
Young Jack on for Rosicky.
Rosicky off and Jack the Lad on. Arsenal have shot up to fifth with this victory.
Harry Crumb's rotten lot have won 0-1 at The Reebok.
That should stop the grumbling in the streets of Alex! This one is done and dusted, just like the match in Turkey.
Nacho Monreal on for Giroud as Wenger shuts up shop and why not? A long trip to Turkey, the return match on Tuesday, and a North London Derby a week from tomorrow.
Naughty by Parker on Carzola and he's booked or that
Let's hope so - Gooner should be over the moon at this result.
The final roll of the dice and the Greek hard man is on for Steve Sidwell. what is the point of that?
SACK JOL! I need the points.
LOL! That's not going to happen any time soon.
GOAL! Darren Bent scores a consolation goal and his first on loan from Villa. Simple tap in after Drac had done all the heavy lifting.
GOAL !!!! BENT SCORES A CONSOLATION GOALF OR THE COTTAGERS. NICE LOFTED PASS FROM PARKER TO DRAC AND DRAC PUT IN A BEUSTIFUL PASS FOR BENT TO TAP IN EASILY AT THE FAR POST
Bent with another goal against the Gunners.
kasami booked for a foul on Merte.
Interesting trivia - Darren Bent has now scored for six different Premiership teams. Which ones?
Fulham, Villa, Chelsea? Sunderland? Who else?
There's also Charlton and Spurs.
Jack the Lad has only been on the pitch for ten minutes and he's picked up a yellow.
Bent has scored for five those teams vs the Gunners and seven in nine matches vs the Gunners. He likes playing against the Gunners
And suddenly Fulham sense that there might be something on here. Ten minutes left.
What sayeth Bob about Bent and not scoring?
YAYa Konogo, Wenger's only summer signing , on for Poldi. He was free.
Yeah, yeah - he's proven me wrong here.
Wenger claims he's going to shop til he drops at the end of the transfer window coming up.
Arsenal a bit more nervous now with a free kick coming in.
Sorry Bob. Just teasing or is it Arseing?
Definitely Arsing about.
Wenger with more money than Daddy Warbucks, but yet to spend a penny.
A great start to the season for Ramsey. MOTM in midweek and today
Four minutes of stoppage time.
I agree - Aaron has been a real bright light.
Stockdale blocks from Theo off a nice pass and run from Carzola.
QPR have run out 0-1 winners through that AJ goal and now top the table. Bolton are at the wrong end in 19th.
Well into stoppage time, now.
Drac with a lazy right footed shot that sums up Fulham's soggy day at the Cottage.
That's it as the Gunners easily win 1-3 at Craven Cottage.
That's it for me. I enjoyed chatting with you and hope to chat with you tomorrow. Cheers mate.
That's it - a marvelous away win to a London rival. Arsenal are officially back in business. I'm off to take a refreshing shower before the 10 am kickoffs.
A bit of a blast of the MOT as we get close to kick off at Portman Road then.
I've got a nice stream of Soccer Saturday up now.
GOAL! Sunderland take an early lead from a corner through Zararini!
GOAL! That didn't take long. No - that Soton equalizer through Rodriguez is chalked off for offside.
The Leeds side today at Portman:
Kenny, Peltier, Lees, Pearce, Warnock, Green, Austin, Murphy, Ross, Hunt, Varney.
Subs - Wootton, Drury, Ashdown, Tonge, Smith, Spitty, Poleon.
Two quick goals at Hillsborough - Not a Big Club at 1-1 with Millwall. There's an evil fixture.
BUGGGGGGGGERRRRRRR!
Ipswich have taken the lead through McGoldrick.
It's the fourth match this season where we've conceded first.

Off to eat a homemade Belgian Waffle

Donny are running riot at Charlton. 0-3 up.
Everton in control but unable to score, typical, at home vs. WBA.
Celtic down 0-1 in the first half to SPL leaders Inverness Caley Thistle.
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
Luke Varney with our equalizer!
WOW - the referee has abandoned the match with Donny 0-3 up at Charlton!
Here's a trivia question that came up earlier - Darren Bent has now scored for six different Premiership clubs. Name them!
Heard as I was sitting at the kitchen table that Leeds tie it up!
Yeah - we need another one now. Come on!
Dd Bent score for Fulham this morning?
Pouring rain at the Valley.... play suspended... will Doncaster keep their three goal lead?
Celtic two down at home
Ben Foster making some quality saves, keeping Everton off the board. Still no score at Goodison.
Bent has scored for
Fulham
Villa
Spurs
Charlton
The Green Brigade will not be amused.
Yes, that's one. You're right with the others, too. Two more!
Really poor week for Celtic - sorry, mate.
Pompey losing at Mansfield
Lambert should have scored there
It's not the loss of Hooper of Wanyama either, poor motivation and shoddy defending that has not been properly addressed.
Cambridge take the lead
Celtic get a goal against Super Cally
Pompey tie it up
Mulgrew cuts the deficit in half in the 41st minute.
#5 Sunderland
For Bent I mean
That's a bit better for the Hoops.
Yep - that's number five. Can you think of another. I got it.
Pompey are now leading
Half time at St. Mary's. Sunderland 0-1 up.
off for walkiess
I'll back in a few
I'll try to think of Bent's last club
A flurry of activity in front of Foster but the home team still can't put the ball in the net.
Leeds at 1-1 with Ipswich at half-time.
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Ross fires us into the lead at Portman Road. A bit of a howler but I don't care. It's Ross's third of the season.
1-2 Good guys!
They're back on at the Valley but still in the first half. Charlton have a goal back. 1-3.
Wow - up to fourth on the strength of that Ross goal. Hang in there, lads - we need this win!
Jeff Stelling is licking his wounds. Hartlepool are the only side in the Football League who haven't scored a goal yet!
Back from my walk
West Ham is number 6
Nope, mate. Darren has never played for the Hammers. It was his first club.
Charlie Adam has equalized for Stoke from a knock down by Crouchie!
Charlie Adam ties it up for Stoke against Palace
I already said Charlton, wasn't that his first team
Speaking of Charlton.. they did get the game back on and it is now 1-3
Burnley are down to ten men as their keeper has been sent off.
Nope - there's one more. He was a youth player with them. Think of our youth.
Hudders are 4-0 up against woeful Bournemouth.
ipswich Town
Just got skyped by debs...i''l be back!
Say 'hi' to Debs!
Stoke now up 2-1.
Still scoreless at Goodison.
Jozy has picked up a head knock now.
Blackpool are romping it 5-1 at Barnsley. They're in third.
DId I get Ipswich town
Around about twenty minutes left at Portman Road. I'd like to see some changes from Brian McDermott. Perhaps our new boy recruited from ManYoo Scott Wootton. What do you know about him, UWS?
Oh yes - absolutely correct. Back in 2002 when Ipswich were up in the Prem.
Naismith on for Everton, goal for WBA coming in 3...2...
Brighton are 2-0 up now.
