Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Transfer Deadline Day Live!

It's transfer deadline day and you can follow all of the big moves and comment on them here on the LOB. The big news so far is that the Gareth Bale saga is finally over, bit old Monkey Boy finally off to Real Madrid for a record-breaking fee. Coming in the other direction is Mesut Ozil, who has agreed to terms with Arsenal for £42 million and Maroune Fellaini who's off to Old Trafford. I'll look for your thoughts here.

I'm checking in at the 10am EST/3pm GMT hour. Victor Moses has completed a loan move to Liverpool. They've also snapped up French defender Mamadou Sakho from Paris St. Germain.

Fellaini move official? Surprised United didn't make the move for Ozil!

At the 11am/4pm hour, Liverpool striker Fabio Borini has been loaned out to Sunderland for the year. He's never really fit in at Anfield, has he?

ManYoo have apparently missed out on Italian defensive middie Daniele de Rossi as he's signed another contract with Roma.

Hiya, Swansong - it does look like the Fellaini move is a done deal. A good one for United, I reckon, although it's still unclear where the Belgian member of the Hair Bear Bunch would fit into the United.

I don't think it is a done deal yet

Palermo have confirmed that goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano is set to join Arsenal. Should Sussudio be worried?

At the 2pm/7pm hour, 365 have confirmed a bid by Middlesboro for my old pal Luciano Becchio now that he's wasting away on the Norwich bench (sigh)....

Hello BD and UWS. Did Hair Bear end up moving to OT? Also, an interesting move for Arsenal to sign another keeper. I wonder Gooner makes of that move. Sorry about Becchio.

Great move by Wenger to sign Mesut Ozil, but they still need a quality player to do the dirty work in midfield, ala Javi Martinez.

I agree - Gooner was lusting after Capoue yesterday, despite the glorious Arsenal win and Capoue being stretchered off mid-match.

I read that if Moyes fails to bring Leighton Baines to OT then he will swoop for Real's Fabian Coentrao. Lots of rumors and last minute frantic attempts to make a deal. Just under three hours remaining

Good afternoon, Bob. Was Gooner happy about the new keeper? He is not in the Italian squad so is he really a top quality keeper in the mold of Seaman , Jennings, or Bob Wilson?

I found some more transfers on FIFA's web site:

Wenger told the site that he signed Viviano as cover for Seudio. It's a season long loan.

Palace made two signings:

Adrian Mariappa from Reading and Barry Bloody Bannan from Villa (sigh).

More news :
Villa sign Czech international forward, Libor Kozak , from Lazio.

Stephen Ireland goes on loan to Stoke for the remainder of the season.

Alvaro Vasquez, part of the Spain U-21 squad that won the Euros, joins Swansea on a season long loan from Laudrup's former club, Getafe.

West Brom sign Northern Ireland international keeper, Lee Camp, from Forest since Ben Foster has a stress fracture in his foot.

20.30 BST - AC Milan have welcomed Kaka back to the club - with a cake!

Kaka returns to AC Milan and is welcomed back with a cake as per the info below from FIFA's web site. That's an odd way to welcome back a player.

More news out of Blighty. Nick Powell has gone on loan to Wigan from Man United. The last hour of the transfer window. Any eleventh hour moves?

Some last minute news out of Blighty:

Mr. Overrated is on a season long loan at Everton. Citeh and the Toffees will each pay half his wages.

The Chunk has signed for Everton. I guess the Happy One was unhappy about that vital penalty shootout miss.

PDC has gone Italian signing Borini from Liverpool and Andrea Dossena.

I am not sure if Man Yoo agree to terms with Hair Bear. They had not with five minutes remaining.

The window has been slammed shut. UWS will be pleased.

TURN OUT THE LIGHTS. THE PARTY IS OVER!

Blogger The Blue Devil said...

That's actually excellent news - The Chunk wasn't ever going to get a match with Jose in charge. Now Roberto can unleash him against unsuspecting defenses. GBB stakes on!

So ManYoo missed out on both Hair Bear and Herrera? Not a good day for United.

No signings for the Mighty LUFC today either. We had been rumored to be in for Ashley Barnes but that hasn't happened. So cue the emergency loans.

It looks like Hair Bear does go to United for 27.5 mil... not too pleased!
Looks like United got Fabio Coentrao on loan from Madrid
Does Moyes not rate Evra?

DONE DEALS- Everton confirm five deals

Everton have sold Marouane Fellaini to Manchester United for a £27.5m fee, with Victor Anichebe heading to West Brom for a fee which could rise to £6m.

Coming into Goodison are James McCarthy for £13m from Wigan and a pair of season long loan deals for Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barr

7:04 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I think Coentrao went to Man Yoo because Moyes was unable to sign Baines. I guess he doesn't expect Evra to be around much longer.

I am glad Hair Bear went to OT . Everton and West Brom did really well. Nick Powell must be a temporary replacement for McCarthy.

United and Real didn't do the paperwork in time so the deal for Fabio Coentrao fell thru
