We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
A Sunday Program
A couple of matches on the docket today. Spurs visit the south coast and take on the Saints. Everton visit Wales to play Swansea in the second match. Can manger-less Spurs overtake United with a win? Can the Saints keep hold of the top group? Can Everton keep it on a roll?

Former England defender Gary Neville
Southampton v Tottenham (13:30 GMT)
"Spurs going for the 1-2-8 formation... This should be good!"
Statisticians Opta: 0 - No striker has scored for Tottenham in the Premier League since 27 October. Problem.
I'll be looking for a Southampton win or a draw. I can't have Spurs overtaking United
Good morning UWS. I can't believe Robbie Mustoe thinks Tim Sherwood is a great choice for manager and that Kyle Martino thinks Spurs is not a club in a crisis. Gooners having a laugh over that.
Tim Sherwood says results have been fine. That 0-5 loss to Pool and your stating that a striker hasn't scored in the Prem contradicts that even though Ade scored in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday
They're off from St. Mary's
At least Tim Sherwood has the sense to play two strikers
Spurs win an early corner.
The corner from Eriksen is easily cleared.
Ade's first Prem start of the season on a beautiful sunny day on the South Coast
A free kick from Lambert is easily saved by Lloris
Morning MUR
I just posted a few comments on the wrong thread... what a plonker I am
Just watched THe Class of 92 with Tom last night
I loved it!
Giggs' impersonation of Becks was a classic
Don't scuff the levva
I need to watch that. It was a busy day yesterday.
Spurs having trouble matching Saints' work rate.
Class of 92 gets a mention!!
The Keane Vierra vid is great too
UWS beat Le Saux to the punch regarding the class of '92.
I will have a really quiet evening so no excuses for yours truly tonight.
Poor Spurs corner headed out by the first man.
Adebayor's goal midweek was ESPN's play of the day... better than some dunk from the NBA!
Why do people get so excited about dunks? They're 8 feet tall.. it's worth TWO points.. there is another 200 scored in a game
ONE NIL SAINTS!!!
Nice finish Luana
Loveren tackles Ade too easily.
AND GOAL! LALLANA SCORES WITH A LOVELY FINISH.
I am surprised not many have watched those vids I posted. I had to remind BD to watch. Gooner said he was going to watch the Best of Enemies but no comments
That pathetic effort from Ade started it. Superb through ball from Fox and Lallana with a lovely twist and turn as well as a lovely finish
I missed Ade's goal because I was watching Stoke vs United on streaming video. I agree with you about the NBA. That is why I never watch it.
I like this Southampton side
Young, attacking, English
They are a great side to watch. Gooner must be having a great early morning laugh at the Spurs performance.
Tim Sherwood not happy with the Spurs performance. It's really pathetic.
Siggy wins a Spurs corner off a short free kick from Eriksen.
Great passing by Sotton... hit over the top
Curled just over by Jay Rodriguez as Danny Rose gifted possession, as Lallana passed to Lambert to Rodriguez.
Great goal by Spurs!
The top two combine to tie it up
Ade finds Soldado and Soldado crosses for Ade to knock it in
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS ADE MADE UP FOR HIS EARLY ERROR. LAMELLA WON THE BALL DEEP IN THE SPURS HALF AND PASSED TO ADE FOR A SPEEDY COUNTER. HIS POOR PASS DOWN THE LEFT WAS KEPT IN BY SOLDADO AND HIS BRILLIANT CROSS WAS STABBED HOME BY ADE.
Spurs score against the run of play, but this may be a confidence booster. Ade seems to have thrived with the change of manager as that is two in two for him.
Arlo mentioned what UWS had mentioned that a striker had not scored for Spurs in the Prem since Oct 27th.
Ade limping off. He would be a huge loss , considering Spurs' recent scoring record.
Siggy has a shot deflected for a corner off a great run and pass from Walker.
I am off for walkies... Shadow is getting fed up waiting for me
I'll be back for the second half
I will listen to the commentary on Talksport during the walk
I'lll be back
Dembele appears to be seriously injured off the challenge from Lambert.
Cheers UWS. Enjoy the walkies.
Siggy booked for a foul on Steven Davis.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Les Ferdinand is the interim assistant. FLIIPIN' HECK!
Halftime and it's 1-1.
The second half is underway from, St. Mary's
Dembele down injured again. He's been injured since that first half challenge with Rickie Lambert. That's it for Dembele as he is replaced by Bentaeleb, the young Spurs debutant.
GOAL !!! SPURS GO 1-2 UP OIFF AN OG FROM HOIVELD. SOLDADO HELD UP THE BALL NEAR THE CORNER FLAG AND PASSED TO DANNY ROSE, WHO PLAYED A OPNE TWO WITH ERIKSEN, THEN HIS PASS WAS DOVERTED INTO HIS OWN GOAL BY HOIVELD. CAME OFF A LONG SPURS POSSESSION.
Spurs up to seventh and United down to eighth.
Fox wins Saints first corner of the match off of Walker.
GOAL !!! DESMOND AS LAMBERT SCORED EASILY AS THE SPURS DEFENSE WERE CARVED APART.
Chadli on for Lamela
Back to the goal. Loveren played Lallana down the right and I am not sure what Lloris was thinking as he was well out of position coming well out of his goal. Fair play to Lallana who squared a pass to Lambert , who tapped in easily to an empty net.
Gazzaniga di well to block from Ade who was through on goal.
James Ward-Prowse on for Jack Cork.
GOAL !!!! ADE HAS A BRACE AS SPURS ARE NOW 2-3 UP.
I am back from the walk
I was listening to Talksport and when I got back and played in the snow with Shadow the score was still 2-1. I looked in the window and it was Desmond!
Spurs third goal was scored as I came in
Poor Saints defending off a Spurs throw, as the Saints attempted clearance made it back to Ade and he easily turned Fox for a great finish
Nearly 2-4 as Soldado sliced a shot wide with just the keeper to beat and Ward- Prowse booked for a foul on Danny Rose.
BTW, when does White clash with Red!!!
Just saw Sotton second.. great assist!!
Welcome back, UWS. It has been a thrilling second half.
Great run and cross by walker and Soldado slides in , shooting wide.
i like watching Southampton play
Gaston Ramirez on for Steven Davis
A hat-trick of misses by Soldado as he shoots into the side netting with just the keeper to beat
Agreed about the second Sotton goal. Lallana with the assist as Cork played him down the right. The goal would not have been scored had Lloris not rushed so far out and been caught out of position.
Cahdli shoots well wide as Ade ran down the right and the ball broke to Chadli off a challenge from Hoiveld.
Agreed that white does not clash with red. Spurs want to sell more of those awful sky blue kits.
Great block by Lloris from Lallana off a nice through ball from Ramirez.
Sorry
Back after a lovely jubbley breakie
The final roll of the dice from Pochettino and what a gamble as young Sam Gallagher makes his Prem debut, coming on for Danny Fox.
This result would drop United down a spot to 8th
I always do this and it is stupid but if we had won 2 out of the 3 matches at home to WBA, Everton and Newcastle we'd be 4th
What did you have. I had donuts and coffee.
Agreed. The lack of goals at OT and poor results at OT have been costly.
Eggs, Waffle, bacon and sausage
That is a great brekkies and a great romp in the snow. Sparky never gets a chance to experience the snow.
The debut boy has a shot saved seconds after coming on.
Dafoe on for Soldado .
Dafoe with some boos due to his brief spell at Pompey as UWS will well remember.
Young Bentaleb fouls Lallana just outside the box.
Poor punch from Lloris off the free kick from Ramirez.
Lambert heads well wide off a cross from Ward-Prowse.
Useless cross from Lambert as there are five minutes of stoppage time.
Lambert wins a corner off of Dawson.
Lambert had a shot there... blew it
Ping pong in the Spurs box off the corner from Ward-Prose. Poor punch from Lloris and Lambert volleys into the ground and over.
Stupid foul by Lambert on Walker as Spurs will use that as an excuse for time wasting
Game over and United drop a spot.. bugger
Tony's boss will be pleased
It's over and spurs win a thriller 2-3 at St. Mary's . Spurs up to seventh and United down to eighth.
I am off for a shower before the late match.
Back in time for Swansea vs Everton. If Roberto wins on his return to Swansea then the Toffees will move up to fourth!
News out of South Wales that Malcolm is still in charge of the Red Dragons!
They're off from the Liberty Stadium
Both managers like to play the short passing, possession game. It should be an interesting tactical battle.
sorry Dave but I have to bail on you
Off to the store
Talk to you on Thursday!
have a great week off
TTFN
Mirallis has a shot easily saved by Tremmel as McCarthy won the ball in midfield and put Mirallis down the right. He then cut inside and had a shot easily saved.
Cheers Dave. Have a great Christmas . I will chat with you on Boxing Day.
Barkley has a cross cut out by Ashley Wiilliams for a corner.
A wasted Toffees corner as a foul is called
Ashley Williams appeared to trip McCarthy in the box. A decent shout for a penalty.
Bryan Oviedo wins a corner off of Ben Davies as Ashley Williams heads out for another Toffees corner.
My apologies. It is a goal kick.
Pablo Hernandez wins a Swansea corner that is easily cleared
One minute of stoppage time.
Halftime and 0-0 in a dreadful first half where the only remotely close chance was when Ross Barkley appeared to be tripped in the box by Ashley Williams.
The latest news from Swansea 's South Wales rivals is that Malcolm is in charge of the soap opera that is Cardiff.
The second half is underway from the Liberty. It can't be any worse than the first.
Pablo Hernandez wins a corner off of Bryan Ruiz. Chico Flores volleys the corner from De Guzman well wide.
Finally a chance as the Toffees countered and Pienaar superbly put Barkley through , but the youngster stumbled with just the keeper to beat.
A great solo run by Seamus Coleman and a last ditch tackle by Ashley Williams saves the day as the corner is cleared.
Routledge cuts out a pass from Coleman for a corner.
Gareth Barry volleyed over after the corner was cleared.
I missed a goal while on the bog. A throw from Bryan Ruiz was deflected off a Swansea player and broke to Pienaar , who p[assed to McCArthy , who passed to Coleman and his long range rocket beat Tremmel at the near post.
GOAL !!!! 1-1 TIENDALLI TIES IT UP WITH A DEFLECTION OFF OF BRYAN OVIEDO.
Tiendalli volleyed across from Ben Davies that deflected off of Bryan Ruiz.
It may be credited as an Oviedo OG
A driving rain in South Wales as the match has finally come to life.
A speculative long range effort from Jags is well wide.
High and wide by Shelvey.
Alvaro Vasquez, a young Spanish striker, is on for Boni.
It seems that the Swansea goal has been credited as a Ruiz OG.
Pienaar has gone down injured, holding his side. It was a nasty collision with Chico Flores.
A double substitution for the Toffees as Leon Osman is on for Mirallis and Naismith for the injured Pienaar.
A nice break from the Swans , but at an absolutely atrocious attempt of a chip from Young Vasquez.
Ben Davies booked for fouling McCarthy on the break.
WHAT A FREE KICK FROM ROSS BARKLEY THAT CURLED AROUND THE WALL AND CAME OFF THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BAR AS THE TOFFEES GO 1-2 UP.
The Toffees are now up to fourth and Chelsea down to fifth. A great return to Swansea for Roberto Martinez.
Bob will be delighted that the goal came from the former LUFC loanee.
Alejandro Pozuelo is on for De Guzman
Great block by Timmy from Pablo Hernandez after a cross from Tiendalli was not cleared
Seamus Coleman wins a corner.
The Toffees take it short. Shot wide by Leon Osman. Was that meant as a cross?
Three minutes of stoppage time as Barkley fouls Hernandez near the corner flag
Timmy does well to tip over a volley from Roland Lamah. The corner from Shelvey is headed away/
Volleyed horribly wide by Vasquez from a headed pass.
The Chunk scores, but is flagged offside. The goal does not count.
It's over as the Toffees have a valuable 1-2 win at Swansea on a great return for Roberto Martinez. The winner was a spectacular free kick from LUFC loanee, Ross Barkley.
That's it as I will be around for Arsenal vs Chelsea.
CHEERS!
