Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Afternoon, chaps - I'm manning the LOB dashboard for the evening's fixtures in the Premiership and Championship. I hope you'll drop by for a cuppa and a chat.
So, despite The Special One's protestations, Chelski are on top now and are presumed favorites in the run-in. That will certainly turn the PPP stakes upside down. They'll fancy a win against lowly WBA who are missing Mr. Anti Semite Nik Anelka. The Baggies haven't won since Pepe Mel's arrival at the Hawthorns.
Keep your eye on the West Ham v. Norwich fixture tonight. If the Hammers win, they'll rocket from 15th all the way to 10th. That's how screwy the bottom half is right now.
Of course, my eyes will be firmly on the match in Brighton as my beloved LUFC attempt to win a third match on the trot since that odd sacking/rebirth for Brian Mac. Ross McCormack is certainly in the goals these days, so we'll be looking to him for more of the same this evening. Come on, you Whites!
The team running out for the LUFC tonight:
Kenny, Byram, Lees, Pearce, Warnock, Kebe, Murphy, Austin, Mowatt, Pugh, Ross.
Pretty settled side, with only Pugh in for the injured Cam Stewart.
I've got a nice link for the Gillette Soccer Special on Sky this evening on the First Row site.
We start on 42 points, a point behind Brighton in 8th. We've also got this match in hand on several sides above us. Am I starting to dream again? You bet I am!
And we're away with this evening's matches. MOT!
Brighton have started brightly at the Amex, apparently Grrr.
WBA v. Chelski is about to start up over on NBC Sports Network once this speed skating bollocks goes off. Here are the line-ups:
West Brom: Foster; Reid, McAuley , Dawson, Ridgewell; Yacob; Amalfitano, Morrison, Brunt; Thievy, Berahino. Subs: Myhill, Mulumbu, Lugano, Dorrans, Gera, Anichebe, Vydra.
Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, David Luiz, Azpilicueta; Ramires, Matic; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Eto’o. Subs: Schwarzer, Cole, Mikel, Lampard, Schurrle, Salah, Torres.
Referee: Anthony Taylor.
The Baggies get us underway at the Hawthorns.
Jose throwing caution to the wind tonight with Sideshow Bob at center back.
Still no goals in either the Premiership or Championship tonight.
Interesting Route 1 ball from Sideshow straight through to Ben Foster.
Still no goals....
Half way through the first half at the Amex and it sounds like Brighton have been the better side.
Wigan lead 1-0, which is bad for Leeds but it comes against Not a Big Club, which suits me just fine.
Watford have taken the lead through Tom Deeney.
Wigan are now 0-2 up at Not a Big Clubs - hurrah!
LUFC are still in 9th, albeit only one goal better than Wigan now.
"The game was average and now is poor" The Gillette Soccer special reporter's view of the match at the Amex.
0-0 at the Amex at half time.
Hey Bob
Didn't know anyone was on this!
No goals anywhere inside the last 30 seconds at the Hawthorns
THere's the goal!
you knew Chelsea would score!
GOAL! Bloody hell - it's that goal machine Ivanovic again. His second big goal in the week.
Great corner in from Willian, and a superb flick on by Sideshow and the Baggies went to sleep at the back post allowing the big Serbian to tap home.
Half time whistle goes!
0-1 Chelski
Just found a Gillette Soccer Special Link
Of course, I have the choice of any of the matches on the TV
I had the match from Upton Park on for awhile
Cambridge United top of the league for a large portion of the season can't buy a win now
Losing at home to Alfretown
I am no looking forward to any of United's games this season!!
Very upsetting
Back on in the second half now for the 2:45 EST kickoffs.
Hiya, Dave! Sorry - I didn't know you were on now. Welcome!
Wigan two up at Wednesday on Tuesday.
Wednesday have been in great form recently
Sorry, mate - I know how you feel about United. I've certainly had seasons like that with Leeds.
Hi Bob
Finally you acknowledge me
Awful stuff at the Amex apparently]
Awful stuff at the Amex apparently]
I know you have had seasons like this.. most sides have
I am not that bothered… I have had a great one
Bottom two in the entire League playing each other
92nd place Northampton leading at 91st Torquay 2-1
Of course, United not to finish in the top four…. we might as well win the Champions League ala Chelsea!
NBC SN now showing all of the close calls in the Premiership this afternoon. I suppose that's as good as they can do given the scarcity of goals.
That's the spirit, mate!
Yes - it's been dire at the Amex apparently. I'll take a draw.
I am pleased that they have found a place for the Prem during the olympics. Also, the late Saturday match has home on another channel because of the ACC Basketball on NBC
Nice promo for the big match tomorrow. Aren't you a tiny bit excited about that one?
Sochi can sod off!
All my extra channels are HD except for the first one
I have a small screen for Hull v Sotton
I like the Olympics I just can't stand the way it broadcast over here. They are showing some live stuff during the day but everything big is tape delay for Prime Time… then they only show a few competitors and mostly americans… and the stupid human interest stories… SHOW THE DAMN EVENT!
The Beeb goes to the venue and you get to watch it all!!
I'm done complaining!
Did you hear that Bob Costas has Pink Eye is being replaced by Matt Laur for the prime time show
He was sent home on a Red Eye!!!
BOOM BOOM
Boom boom - well in, mate. I'm boycotting the whole Sochi nonsense.
Come on Leeds… let's have at least ONE United make us happy this week… it aint happening it tomorrow
The Hammers haven't let a goal in at Upton Park in over 5 and half hours… They haven't scored many either!
Oh Dear.. Brighton take the lead
Norwich almost in !
Forest take the lad at Hudd Town
Buggggggggerrrrr!
Yeovil take the lead against Evil Millwall.
That's put Wigan and Blackburn above us -we're down to 11th again now. Bugger!
SS showing the incidents on the Championship on the fly
Just saw a shot by Burnley well saved
They're showing the Brighton goal… not good defending!
On February 12th last season, we had 42 points. Exactly the same this season, which would seem to suggest that we'll be safe but well outside the playoff spots.
Love seeing the goals !
I'm glad that I didn't see it.
A lot of yelling in the studio now because there's actually a goal in the Premiership. At the KC - it's old man Rickie Lambert with the goal for the Saints against Hull.
How's your weather, mate?
Big Matt Smith has been thrown on for Danny Pugh now. So it's long ball to the big man time for us.
Still no real attacking verve from us.
Chelski are sooooo boring. I hate it that they're on top.
Our old boy Sam Vokes has put Burnley 0-1 up at Bolton.
A big shout for a goal at Upton Park. The Hammers are in front! James Collins with the goal. Hammers up to 10th!
Ten minutes left for us to claw one back for a draw. Come on, you Whites!
The Hammers take the lead late as i am skyping Tom
Eto-o shanks a shot wide of the mark and gets the hook from Jose. El Nino on.
Paul Walsh doesn't think we can get back into it. Put a sock in it, mate!
Forest are 2-0 up at Hudders now.
Baggies pressure now - come on!
Cambridge still losing at home and Luton are winning away.. not good
Dazzling stuff from Hazard again! He is a joy to watch.
Noel Hunt on for Alex Mowatt now. Come on, you Whites!
Norwich have a header but right at the keeper
Sotton overtaking Newcastle if they win
Burnley leading at the Reebok
Orient losing at home 3-1 to Bristol City
Villa go very close.. great save apparently
2 of the added 4 minutes left at UP
Cardiff and Villa have finished 0-0.
Ends scoreless in Cardiff
Oh - must be a goal for the Baggies!
HAMMERS BREAK… A DEFLECTED SHOT ROLLS IN THE NET!!
TWO NIL!!
Ivanovic is livid about something - I missed it.
Forest three up at Hudd Town
Wahay! The Hammers are into the top half!
Forest are 3-0 up!
All over at Upton Park
Big, big win for the Hammers!
Come on, you Whites! Get that equalizer!
Are the Hammers in the top half
Wigan are 0-3 up now at Not a Big Club.
Wigan three up at Hillsboro
Last minute of three added minutes.. Leeds not attacking much
Into the last minute of stoppage time at the Amex - come on!
The Baggies really going for it now - come on!
2 of 5 added minutes left at Hull
Cambridge lose at home
Luton win
Sorry Mate
All over in Brighton
Bugger! Brighton win 1-0. We're in 11th on 42 points. Eight points to get for safety now.
Northampton have won at Torquay.. wonder if they're staying at Fawlty Towers
West Ham are in 10th… all of a sudden FIVE points clear
We don't play again for more than a week!
Either do my United after tomorrow
Southampton have won
The Baggies should have had a pen there. They've dropped into the relegation zone now.
Cahill faking and WBA kick the ball out
Inside ten minutes at the Hawthorns. I cannot believe that we're watching the table toppers here - they are rubbish!
I hate them!
I hate Jose more!!
Cahill going off the longest way off the field…. bet you he comes back on
I would say if anyone goes off for an injury, he has to stay off the same amount of time
Surprise… here comes Cahill
YES!!!
THE BAGGIES HAVE TIED IT UP!!!!
YESSSSSSS! The Baggies have scored! Well deserved!
Now go and steal the the points like Chelsea stole one at the Bridge
Lovely ball in and Anichibe flicked on the header well. Jose's tactics don't pay off for once. Lovely.
Jose looks all grumpy now. Lovely. Sala to come on now.
Lamps was about to come on but the goal changes Jose's mind… some turkish winger is going to come on
Advantage Gunners now - with Arsenal having that match tomorrow in hand.
Against a crappy team too!!!
Citeh should have an easy win at home to Sunderland tomorrow
Now, now, mate.
Get another one, WBA!
Chelski at sixes and sevens now at the back.
Just over the bar by Brunt
Oooh - Brunt had a chance to win it!
Well wide really… should have been close
Six added minutes!
Chelsea faking and wasting time may come back and help them!!
6 minutes of additional time now - Jose not best pleased.
Team playing at the Em tomorrow couldn't beat a team that lost to SHEFFIELD UNITED at HOME AT HOME!!
Chelsea have only won one of the last four they have played against WBA
Cambridge are now down by 6 points behind Luton and only one point ahead of the team that beat them tonight…. they do have games in hand on teams below them but not Luton
Oh - Anichebe had a chance there but Cahill blocked well despite carrying a knock.
Cahill does look hurt.. Anichebe should have done better
Last minute … come you baggies
Chelsea better not score here… last chance saloon
That should do it here…no Chelsea have the ball again
Corner… blow up!!
96 is up… that ball never went out… clear it
Foster clears
That was nasty by Cahill
Game over
Glad to see two points drop
Great chatting to you Bob
I am off to the college
Talk to you tomorrow.. hopefully.. if I can stomach it!
That's that, then. 1-1 in the end. Not bad - I'm really glad that Jose's tactics didn't buy him another win. But I would have loved to have seen WBA win. WBA just above the dropzone. Chelski a point better than Arsenal with that big match tomorrow. I'll be around - how about you, mate?
Cheerio, mate!
I'll try and be
TTFN
