Whew! We're through the Round of 16 matches and now have a couple of days to rest up, mourn the US exit to Belgium yesterday and take stock of our predictions game. Each of you received three points for each correct Round of 16 winner that you predicted. My weekend host United We Stand has jumped out to a healthy six point lead due to his correct predictions of six of the eight quarter-finalists (and not because of Mrs. UWS' delicious chicken parm, I hasten to add!) for 18 points. That gives him an advantage as we head into the latter stages on Friday, but there are still plenty of points to play for. Gooner71 picked up two valuable additional points for correctly predicting that Brazil v. Chile would feature the first penalty shootout of the tournament. Here are the current standings:
