Are These Two Teams Real Title Contenders?
So, we have a big London derby for our pleasure this morning. Not one of the two big Capital clubs but they want to be. West Ham moving into the Olympic Stadium and Spurs are building a new home as well. Will these two sides become just as big the Arsenal and Chelsea? Can London have FOUR big sides? It's big enough, isn't it? Anyway, that is for the future... what about today? I think Spurs should be considered as Title contenders. Too many draws but only one unlucky loss. West Ham have won at some big places this season but have lost to little uns too. Should be a big one

Good morning UWS. I will be around for this match because I am interested to see how these teams fare. I think the Spuds can be title contenders if they turn the draws into wins . I believe that the Hammers are not yet title contenders. Their best bet is probably an EL spot. Their main problem is lack of depth , which may tell during a long season.
I agree with you but I think West Ham could be a big club in the near future
I think Spurs are serious contenders this season...NO ONE is saying that. They say the are Top Four material but no one is going the extra step
I'll be back just after kick off...have to go on a 3 miler, takes under 40 mins
I'll be back
Cheers UWS. I'm back four minutes in .It's 0-0 . Not much has happened.
Burnley drew 1-1 with the Seagulls at Turf Moor earlier today. The Seagulls are second , behind the Tigers on gd while Burnley remain fifth, two points behind the Tigers and Seagulls.
Cresswell high and wide from long range.
The Seagulls are undefeated with nine wins, but eight draws. All nine wins have been by one goal. An odd coincidence.
The Hammers have done all the early attacking , but without testing Lloris
Victor Moses wins a corner. He takes it short to Cresswell, whose volley is scooped straight to Lloris.
Hiya, lads - I'm over at Kate's and having trouble accessing her wireless, but I'll try to comment via iPhone.
To answer your question, I don't either side are real title contenders. West Ham don't have the resources to be able to mount a real title challenge and will be happy to earn a Europa League slot and Spurs are too, well, "Spursy" to be able to win anything.
Not a lot of action yet in this London Derby.
Lloris tips over a deflected effort from eriksen. The first shot from either team this match
Oh - first real shot in action, Eriksson pulling a good save out of Adrian.
Good morning mate. I hope you can stick around.
Sorry. It was Adrian, not Lloris , as Rocky was quick to remind me.
GOAL !!!! hARRY kANE GIVES THE spUDS THE LEAD.
Goal! Harry Kane scores again in a London Derby!
OH!!! THE COYOTE HAS A VOLLEY COME OFF THE BAR AS THE HAMMERS AIM TO TIE IT UP.
That changes the dynamic. WH have to be more ambitious. And right on cue, Kouyate strikes the woodwork!
Andy Carroll heads straight to Lloris with a free header off the corner.
The Hammers will pose some problems from set pieces
Both efforts took lucky bounces. Della Alli had a shot blocked that bounced off him and straight to Harry Kane to smash it past Adrian. The Coyote won a tackle then played a ball into Mark Noble , whose shot bounced off of Vertonghen and then the Coyote volleyed off the bar.
Vertonghen well over from long range.
Vertonghen hits one from the Seven Sisters tube stop; very ambitious
Whoever wins today moves into fourth, right?
I agree with you about the Hammers, but not the Spuds. Why not the Latke men? No team is taking the title race by the scruff of the neck and as if the Mancs, the Gunners , and the Foxes are too far ahead of them as to have eliminated them from the race.
Deli Sandwich nearly dribbled himself into trouble there
Actually no. The winner will be fifth, but only two points behind the Gunners and Citeh and only four points from first. Surely that puts the winner in the title race.
BOOM BOOM! If he puts the Spuds two up then Alli will have delivered a knockout punch , which will be a real Hammer blow to the opposition.
Spurs have always been too erratic, always flattering to deceive. They can look really good at times but they don't seem to be able to win ugly like you lot do.
Tomkiins tackle Song for a SPuds corner.
GOAL !!! ALDERWEIRELD HEADS IN A NEAR POST CORNER FROM ERIKSEN.
He ghosted in like Martin Peters, who was a hero for both of these teams.
Goal! And as I type Toby gets ahead of Reid and nods home Spurs' second.
A long way back for WH now.
sorry mate. Now four points from first and only undefeated since opening day. They are winning like us and not losing. They must be in the title race.
OH!!! Llorius saves at the feet of song and delli sandwich headed off the bar
Oh - should have been a third. Deli Slice nods onto the bar!
Eriksen made a right fool of the Private, nutmegging him down the left. Then passed to Delli Sanwich that had music in the middle as he passed for Song , whose shot was batted away by Lloris then Alli headed off the bar to complete the sandwich
I could murder a plate of latkes right about now, btw. What are your Thanksgiving plans?
Sandwich is in Sussex?
Oh - Kane made a right hash of that!
OH!!!! The Gooner must be laughing uncontrollably as Alli superbly put Kane through on the break and had a shot nearly hit the corner flag with just Adrian to beat/
Sandwich is in Sussex?
Spurs should be three or four up and running away.
Kane is put through down the right and has a cross go out for a corner/.
Eriksen takes it short. Alli has a shot go out for a corner.
WH just trying to get back into the dressing room without conceding more now.
The corner from Eriksen is caught by Adrian
The Gooner and Johnno are none too pleased at this point in time.
If Alli had scored with the header then surely that would have been the knockout punch.
Miles over by Andy Carroll , who looked more like a Lewis Carroll character.
Not Noble by Mark on Alli with that foul.
If WH can get one back, the whole complexion of this match changes.
I think United could learn a lot by watching the Spuds today
Boom boom!
a minute of stoppage time.
One minute of stoppage left.
That's if the Hammers can. They haven't really shown us much today
Hey Boys
I am back from the walk. I arrived home just before the second goal. Just got to the computer as the half time whistle blows
Spurs for the title?
The SPuds are two up at the half and get a standing ovation from fans at SFL.
Welcome back. Sure . Why not?
What did you mean over at Kate's?
She's not at the Cottage?
The half time whistle goes with Spurs in full control. But will they rue those missed chances?
Did you all see my comments about the early match in the Championship today? You will notice that the Seagulls are the Spuds of the Championship this season.
Tom is coaching at a soccer place this morning
He works on Sundays and Matt works on Saturdays. They have been told they're they are the best coaches on the staff!
Have been requested by parents the most!
Anyway, Tom is there and Charlie Cook (chelsea winger of the late 60s and early 70s) is coaching a course
Lots of draws?
Looking forward to the Premier League Download with Sir Alex today. May not watch it live but it is already being recorded
I will have to record because I have a meeting at that time.
Yes. Played seventeen. Nine one goal wins and eight draws.
WOW!!!! they will definitely learn from him. He's got to be getting on about 70 now.
Slaven with instructions to Noble. I'm guessing he's telling them to keep it tight in midfield as the second half is underway
Winnie Reid is down from a challenge by Kyle Walker. There didn't seem much in it as Dier and Sakho get into it. Song is the peacemaker.
We're back on for the second half at Shite Fart. I'm surprised that Bilic hasn't made any changes.
Danny Rose wins the ball in midfield then wins a free kick
Welcome back, UWS; how was the walk?
He was barking instructions at Mark Noble and looked none too pleased.
It seems from the clip that they showed that there is a focus on how United was able to win matches in stoppage time when not playing well.
Noble booked for tugging back Kane just outside the box. The free kick is headed out and
GOAL !!! HARRY KANE PUTS THE SPUDS THREE UP WITH A long range rocket.
Lost the computer for a bit and it's three nil for Champions Elect
WH hit the self destruct button again and Kane pounces to score Spurs' third goal.
Could have been four!!!!
Harry Kane doesn't pass up gifts .Adrian threw the ball out to Thomkins , who passed to Eriksen. He passed it to Kane , who beat Adrian with power.
Nice double save by Adrian from Song and eriksen to prevent a fourth goal
I asked you question Bob earlier
Tom took a picture and vid of him
No team is out dominating the title race, so the Spuds are a definite contender.
Spurs attacking... are you watching LVG... I want United to play like Pool or Spurs
An old former Scottish winger in his 70s?
Other than United, I think I'd like to see Spurs win the title
Young, attack and mostly English
I typed the same when you were on walkies. We haven't won in this sort of style this season. They are playing better football than us.
Yes Charlie Cook was in the Chelsea side that beat the Mighty Leeds in the Cup Final
The Spuds could have up to seven players in the England squad this summer.
I think he ended his career in the NASL in the mid 70s as did many Brits at that time.
Tony said that there is plenty of time for Spurs to implode which is what spurs do
Song has a shot come off of Moses for a corner.
He did play over here. I googled him
Carrroll heads out the corner from Eriksen
Sorry, didn't catch that question at half time. Kate is hanging on to her apt for the time being mainly for storage, but we're full time at the Cottage. We're over here today because we're getting it ready for my mother in law's visit this week
One too many touches from Alli off a nice through ball from Dier.
The fizz has gone out of this one with that third goal
Nice of you and Kate.
So Spurs will be unbeaten for 12 straight league matches. It is a club record. Next up, Chelsea at home. Shame they have to travel for the EL before
We will see how the SPuds do. The announcer mentioned that they have an EL match in Azerbaijan on Thanksgiving then a kickoff at 6 AM CST vs Chelsea on Sunday
Vardy scoring in 10 straight games and has 13 goals. In that streak of 10, he only scored a brace once so that means he has at least scored in 11 of 13 matches!!!!
They could implode , but I don't see Pochettino letting that happen. He's not like their previous managers
Here's a question for you lot - are Norwich in danger of going down?
Thanks for the Cottage answer.... Mr Two Houses
He's been really consistent. He should be making the trip to France this coming summer.
I think Villa and the two northeast clubs are in more danger and sadly Bournemouth too
AND CHELSEA
There's usually eight teams in the relegation race, so they are surely one of the eight.
Will you guys be around for the CL matches on Tuesday and Wednesday
So, after the final whistle the table will look like this
Leicester 28
United 27
City 26
Arsenal 26
Spurs 24
Top two play each other next week
Finally Bilic goes to his bench. This one seems all over though
A double siwtcheroo as Zarate is on for Moses and a like for like as Jelavic is on for Carroll. Anything to so with him being a compatriot of the gaffer?
"There's something happening at @SpursOfficial. As an @Arsenal fan it's worrying, they're playing well" @IanWright0
Will you all be up early next Sunday for the Spuds vs Chelsea. Kickoff at noon GST.
Not sure about this week. I have to work on Tuesday and Wednesday
Well stated by Wrightie. If he's saying that then that speaks volumes. He's usually not one for compliments.
I feel bad for Yellows who appears to have a season ticket for the Canaries. Not the best year for that.
I work Tuesday, but am off on Wednesday. My daughters are off the entire week.
Handbags now; Noble and Mr Pastrami both booked
Some handbags going on
Noble and Allie get yellows
Both suspended for next week
What a plonker.. misses the Chelsea match
I thought Mark Noble was booked earlier. He is now as is Alli for their spat. Both are out for their matches next weekend as both received their fifth booking of the season./
Ryan Mason will come on to be a brick wall in any hope the Hammers have of a comeback
There is a match tomorrow as well as Crystal Palace host Sunderland
There's another team in the relegation dogfight.
Brick House is on for Delli sandwich.
Lanzini has a shot take a wicked deflection out for a corner that left LLoris rooted to the spot. Lloris read the danger as he caught a header from the corner.
Instead of clearing, the Private gets fancy and concedes a corner. Adrian did well to catch the corner.
It gets nasty as Walker and Sakho get into it.
More handbags... Kyle Walker is an idiot
He gets a card... grow up... you're three nil up
Both are booked.
This match is falling apart
Agreed. The spuds should see this one out.
I agree with that too.
Both of these teams are at home next Sunday. The Spuds host Chelsea at the crack of dawn while the Hammers host the Baggies.
The Hammers fans , who made the short trip have headed home presumably to make it home in time for dinner.
Song is on for Noble.
Spurs could have had 8...just like Pool
Absolutely. Those are the two in form teams and both play on Thanksgiving Day.
That's a good analogy. Pool were out of this world yesterday. But they could be crap next week. Same with Spurs
#4.... the idiot has scored!
GOAL !!!KYLE WALKER PUTS THE SPUDS FOUR UP.
decent goal
Spurs are a force
I know Mr. Two Homes or Mr Anti-Spurs.... but Spurs have not lost at home to Palace after beating Chelsea... they haven't lost AT ALL since losing in the first match
Eighteen year old Josh Enohmah is on for Song, who put in a great shift.
And next week they'll be crap. While you lot will probably beat the Foxes 1-0
Back to the goal. Eriksen won the ball in midfield. He passed to Walker, who played a one two with Song then easily beat Adrian
Two Homes but no shed
West Ham gets a goal back... Walker wasn't good for that one
GOAL !!!! LANZINI SCORES A CONSOLATION GOAL FOR THE HAMMERS
I offered you one months ago!!
Walker was a real idiot. A poor back header in midfield off a long Hammers clearance went to Walker. His back pass was picked up by Jela, who passed to Lanzini . He raced past Walker and shot in the upper 90 at the near post.
I know, but there's no way to get it here
OH!!! Off the upright by Mason.
It's gone now you numpty... you could have driven here... spent a weekend with a mate and drove back
Into stoppage time as HArry Kane gets a standing ovation as he's replaced by Tom Carroll. Three minutes of stoppage time.
Kane goes off to a hero's ovation
Will you call him Walker? BOOM BOOM!
I know that but I'm rubbish at putting things together
Almost number five... could have gotten it over quicker... after two moves not four
A nice run by ZDmebele and his threaded pass went out for a corner.
Eriksen takes it short and Caroll passes /shoots into the side netting.
We're not even sure that we'll be staying in the Cottage long term
Game over and Spurs romp
I still think they should be in the Title talk just not the Top Four
Take care boys
UWS
That's it as the Spuds Hammer the opposition 4-1 and are now legitimate title contenders.
Not in the Cottage. Isn't that a fixture mate?
That's quite enough of that, then. Not one that either WHR or Gooner will want to keep around on the DVR
Either way. I'm hoping to visit in the near future.
Definitely . Have a great Thanksgiving if we don't chat before then.
CHEERS MATE!
I love it, but as you guys saw, it's pretty small. Might need something bigger
Cheerio, lads!
