Day 7 - Group C: Germany v. Poland
What a day! I've barely recovered from England's late, late winner and now I'm home from the office to watch the World Champions take on their neighbors to the East, Poland. While I was doing some work, Northern Ireland scored their first ever win at the European Championships, knocking off Ukraine 2-0. What shocks and surprises will be see this afternoon? Join me here on the LOB for a late afternoon snack to find out, eh?

Hello and welcome. Get ready for the world champions’ sternest test since they became world champions and one that could give us a fair indication as to how likely they, or indeed Poland, are to become European champions. Poland have the quality to spring some surprises here. Can't wait!
The teams warming up in St. Denis now:
Germany: Neuer; Hector, Hummels, Boateng, Höwedes; Kroos, Khedira; Müller, Ozil, Draxler; Götze
Poland: Fabianksi; Piscczek, Glik, Pazdan, Jedrzejczyk; Blaszczykowski, Krychowiak, Maczynski, Grosicki; Milik, Lewandowski
Referee: B Kuipers (Ned)
We're just about set to go now, then. Cracking atmosphere in the stadium tonight.
And we're away in St. Denis.
Cagey beginning to this match with lots of midfield possession.
Sami Khedira goes into the book early doors - not a good sign for the Germans.
Oh - Goetze had a free header there from Draxler's cross. Should have hit the target but couldn't get above it.
The Polish fans are trying to put the German players off their passing by whistling loudly. Has that ever worked?
Poland and the ball are barely on speaking terms at the moment. The Poles are too standoffish. And the Germans too dang good. Early days, though.
Better from the Poles now - they win a corner. I reckon that they could do some damage from set pieces.
Khedira's down on the ground, acting like he was poleaxed. He didn't seem to be touched.
Isn't this interesting. We're thirty minutes in and Germany haven't had a shot on target. Yet, the commentary team aren't piling on about how woeful they are. Why?
Half-time - Well, there's forty-five minutes I'll never get back. Let's be absolutely honest here for a change. Germany have looked absolutely hopeless. No shots, no chances. Nothing.
Well, I've whipped out the smelling salts after that turgid first half to revive myself for the second half.
Bloody hell - how did Milik not score that one? He merely needed some contact on that cross. Poland out of the blocks quickly in this half.
If I thought any Northern Ireland fans were following this, rather than gallivanting around whatever town they happen to be in, I’d ask them how much more confident they feel about beating Germany after today’s action so far. Let me put words in their mouths while they’re offering up toasts and say: “much”. OK, so that was just one word.
Word is Löw has made some adjustments during the break. He hasn’t made any personnel or tactical changes, however.
If Jurgi Low changed anything, it's not working. If anything, Poland have gotten more confident in this half.
Grosicki goes into the book.
Lewandowski has a chance from a free kick now to break German hearts.
Overly fussy free kick routine ends with Milik shooting wide.
Milik curls a 20-yard freekick around the wall ... and a yard past the post! Decent effort.
Low about to make a change. It looks like Julian Draxler is getting the hook. I'm surprised - he's been one of the only enterprising German players today. His cross for Goetze was the only chance of the match.
Ozil passes off to Kroos, who fires well over.
Goethe comes off and Don't Call Me Schurrle comes on.
Boateng into the book. I don't think anyone has been suspended for the last match yet.
First shot on target for the Germans - Ozil shot is tipped over by Flappy.
Perhaps someone has reminded the teams of the permutations for the next round? Because proceedings are slowing down again after a momentary outbreak of fun.
Super Mario Gomez on now for Draxler.
Lewandowski breaks surges forward from midfield and plays the ball wide to Grosicki. The winger sends a lovely low ball towards the penalty spot. Milik has a wonderful chance to sweep it into the net .... but he completely misses the ball! That’s his third appalling miss of the match! He’s making Götze look deadly. Poland really should be in front by now.
Ten minutes left for the Germans to get something out of this match.
Boateng handles there and gives Poland a tasty free kick opportunity here.
Wasted there - shame.
Pesko on for a late cameo for Poland.
Poland have another free kick now - another wasted effort.
Into three minutes of stoppage time now - blow up, ref!
What a difference between the exciting team of South Africa 2010 and this one today. This German side looks a shadow of the team that won the World Cup four years ago.
That's it - 90 minutes of Anschluss football in St. Denis produces the first goalless draw of the tournament.
Rubbish. I'm done with football for the day.
