Leeds United Thursday!
If it's Thursday, it must be Leeds United live on BEin! Yes, lads, BEin is favoring us with a holiday treat today - Aston Villa v. my beloved Leeds. It may be snowing like the Dickens outside, but I could care less. I've got my feet up, a cuppa by my side and I'll be settling in to watch around 2:30pm. Join me for a Championship classico, won't you?

Afternoon, chaps - it's still snowing here in Fred-town but I'm looking forward to this one. It's not often that I get a chance to watch my beloved, so I'm taking full advantage.
The team news out of Villa Park:
Aston Villa (4-2-3-1 sunshine): Bunn; Hutton, Chester, Baker, Amavi; Jedinak, Westwood; Bacuna, Grealish, Ayew; Kodjia.
Subs: Gollini, Elphick, Agbonlahor, Gestede, Gardner, Adomah, McCormack.
Leeds United (4-2-3-1 darling): Green; Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Berardi; Phillips, Bridcutt; Sacko, Roofe, Dallas; Doukara.
Subs: Silvestri, Denton, Vieira, Hernandez, Mowatt, Wood, Antonsson.
Referee: Roger East
Still no Chris Wood, as he's still recovering from that hammy strain. Gary Monk has made one change - Cooper is replacing Bartley in defense.
So, three changes for Villa: Adomah, Gardner and McCormack drop out, with Westwood, Grealish and Ayew coming in.
I'm hoping that we'll continue our hot streak today at Villa Park. We've won eight of our last ten matches under Gary Monk's leadership. The only losses have been to Liverpool in the League Cup and to Brighton who are top of the league today.
Good afternoon, Bob. I'm delighted to join you for the action. It's not snowing here, but Indian Summer ended about an hour ago , after a week of unusually tropical weather for this time of the year
There's another Championship match today as Rotherham hosts Richard Burton in a relegation six pointer from Broadway
Hey Boys,
As you know, I will have to follow the blindly with no coverage for me to watch
I am sitting in the living room watching Blue Bloods and listening to Talksport
Snowing here too
A draw for Leeds would lift them to 4th spot on GD but a win would take them up to third...only five points behind an automatic spot
Vila are looking for their third home win in a row for the first time in six and half years!
if they do win, they would move up to 8th and only 2 points off the playoffs
A draw would take them to ninth
Good afternoon, UWS. It's not snowing here, but Indian Summer ended about an hour ago after a week of unusually tropical weather for this time of the year. It was not much different than the weather in Hawaii.
Bob must be thrilled with the first half of the season. Tonight's match is the first match of the second half of the season
Same again please for the next half of the season
There are four Championship matches tomorrow with the top two in action. The Toon host Forest while the Seagulls host Evil Cardiff. Bob would do well to buy Kate a train ticket as the Cottagers are at Jaap's chaps tomorrow.
Absolutely. The Monk revolution has been outstanding. Hopefully, he won't be returning to Swansea to fill that vacancy/
Great to have you chaps on board. How's the weather out your way?
BUGGER!!! Leeds is wearing all royal blue , which is closer to clashing than their traditional all white. What's the purpose of that?
Thanks, Bob. Glad to be around to help support you. I gave a weather update at 2:39.
I am absolutely thrilled by our fall campaign. To give you a sense of perspective, on December 29th last season, we had 31 points. We're ten points better now. This is our best chance in yonks to get promotion.
We're set to go now. Roger East about to get us under way. Leeds wearing our blue away number.
Absolutely . The playoffs look your best bet
And we're underway at Villa Park.
They're off from Villa PArk. MOT!
Blimey - Kalvin Phillips nearly let Kodjia in there but Jansson bailed him out. Nervous start.
PHEW!!!!Calvin Phillips nearly gifted Villa the lead with a poor back pass , but Kdjia couldn't put it away. The corner from Andy Ayew is headed away, but Villa continue their period of early pressure.
Not liking this start at all. Settle down, lads!
It's all Villa early doors as Leeds are under the cosh.
Did some poking around that link I have and have found the match. No sound but I have it going strong... with Leeds in Blue...sigh
More sloppiness in the defense. Jansson to the rescue again. He's going to start getting ticked off soon.
Agreed. Jon Champion just stated that Villa are the only team unbeaten at home in the Championship. This will be a challenge for Leeds.
Still 0-0 in the relegation six pointer between Rotherham and Richard Burton from Broadwway.
More sloppiness allows Kodjia in again. Rob Green pulls off a fingertip save to keep him out.
Superb acrobatic save by Rob Green from a long range effort from Kadjia. He sure didn't look like someone about to turn 37.
Looks like a big crowd at Villa Park
We seem to have weathered the early storm. Hopefully we can build from here now.
It certainly sounds like it.
There are four Championship matches tomorrow, a Prem match and several L1 and L2 matches, one which is of special interest to UWS. Yeovil vs Pompey.
We could have made more of that free kick chance.
Modern Day Football... Dallas wins a free kick over the half way line... chance to get the ball in the box...no... back to full backs
Both sets of fans have been loyal during some tough times. It should be a cracking atmosphere.
Busy schedule for the pre-New Years Eve footer.
We really need Liam Bridcutt to get a handle on things as Villa look dangerous.
Agreed. He's an experienced player.
Did you buy Kate a train ticket for the Cottagers match at the reading Railroad that is being played tomorrow?
Nice cut and thrust to this match now - end to end.
Absolutely - she'll be needed to lead the line.
Agreed. Leeds have settled down after weathering an early storm.
Would you have preferred to have watched Rotherham vs Richard Burton from Broadway instead of this match?
my sound just popped up!
Gary Monk appears to be sporting two coats tonight. It must be old in Brum.
Have you got a slight buzzing in your ear, UWS?
Nathan Baker almost made an unsuccessful sticky Bunn as there was a misunderstanding off a teasing cross from Dallas.
It's further inland an a little higher up, so the nights might be cooler than at our old stomping grounds.
Oh dear - Curtis Jansson seems to have a problem now - thigh strain?
The last thing Leeds need is to lose Jansson to injury as he's been the anchor in defense this match.
I had no idea that James Beattie was on the coaching staff at Elland Road. The things you learn, eh?
James Beattie, the former striker, is now on the Leeds coaching staff. Leeds could use his attacking knowledge.
A Villa tradition as there's a moments applause in the 21st minute. This is done the last home match of each calendar year to acknowledge Villa players and fans who have passed during the course of the year. a class act.
Jansson appears to be okay to continue. Phew!
A few "narky moments" the commentator notes.
Roger East needs to settle a dispute between Berardi and Bacuna. . Play resumes.
If they had all the famous people that died this year, they'd be clapping for half the match!!
Cannot believe how many have left us?
An attractive lineswoman , helping Roger East, who will do well to avoid the scenery and keep his eye on the match
Agreed. 2016 has been a horrible year. Even my own mum passed away in April.
A goal in Serie B as Spal take the lead at Bari.
I might just take that away point, the ways things have gone so far.
agreed David
Nice interchange between Doukara and Sako, nearly got in there.
That would be a decent result , given that Villa are the only team undefeated at home in the Championship this season.
Terrible year all round.
A nice East Anglian reference as Greene King IPA was flashed on the advertising boarding.
Agreed, mate. I'm trying to be positive, but Elizabeth's mother is only expected to live for a few more months. Hopefully, that will be extended.
Rob Green does well to turn around a cross from Andy Ayew,.
Vila go close twice
one saved
one just wide
I breathe a sigh of relief as Chester balloons his header well over. Dangerous.
The corner from Ayew is headed away than James Chester heads just wide off a cross from Amavi.
Jon Champion just stated that it's still 0-0 in the match from Broadway.
Sacko gets past Amavi and his deflected cross is cleared by Hutton for a Leeds corner.
Leeds blew a chance for a decent cross
bloody modern day footballers
The corner is headed away , then Kalvin Phillips fouls Andy Ayew, who males a meal of it.
Richard Burton plays a starring role on Broadway as they take the lead at bottom club , Rotherham.
1-1 in the other match
Rooofe has a shot blocked off a tackle from Luke Ayling and pass from Acko.
Decent chance there earned by Ayling's persistence.
Jedinak took one in the jedinaks there.
Jedinak, the Villa tough guy, is down off a challenge from Roofe, but seems okay to continue.
are you sure? Jon Champion gave the same score as the Goldy Sportscenter.
Luke does well to clear away a teasing cross from Kodja.,
I got a wrong update
It's two nil Richard Burton
Richard Burton , looking set to win a Toni Award as they go two up at Broadway and steering away from the drop zone.
Great Sportscenters agree.
Alright, I've had it. They're being televised and they can't even score 1 goal? Sorry to my boys, but I'm going to have to pick a new team. I've been thinking about this all season, and I think it's going to be Chelsea.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Someone must have just kidnapped Bob
That's rather naughty, mate.
Okay, I've only been away from the keyboard for a few seconds and my account has been hacked by a renegade spouse. She'll have to be severely dealt with.
You lads know that I'm Leeds til I die.
That's more like it, mate.
half time
The half-time whistle comes and we're goalless at Villa Park. A scrappy affair with very few chances. The punters deserve better, if truth be told.
It's 0-0 at the half from Villa Park. Time for lunch.
Rotherham get a goal back before ht
Rotherham pulled one back in what seems a right old ding dong from Broadway as they trail Richard Burton 1-2 thanks to a goalkeeping error from Liz Taylor.
We're away in the second half at Villa Park.
The second half is underway from Villa Park.
Jon Champion failed to state that Desmond is negotiating a price with a scalper outside the theatre at Broadway
Grealish hasn't recovered from that earlier knock, which will be an early entrance for our old friend Ross McCormack.
Jack Grealish is down, holding his hammy. He was involved in an aggressive challenge with Jansson at the end of the first half.
An attacking switch from Brucie as Bob's old mate, Ross, comes on , giving Villa an extra striker.
Bari tie it up vs Spal.
Rob Green does well to push away yet another effort from Kodja.
Kodjia is limping a bit now, after that clash with the post.
Nice stuff from Sacko out wide right earns a corner. One in off the bum, please.
Sack goes down the right, nutmegging Jedinak then is tackled for a corner by Ayew.
YES!!!!!
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pontus with a towering header to put us in front!!!
0-1!!!!
YESSSSSSSSS!!!! JANSSON HEADS IN A CORNER FROM DALLAS TO GIVE LEEDS THE LEAD AT VILLA PARK DESPITE THE EFFORTS OF STICKY BUNN, WHO GOT A HAND TO IT.
If Leeds hold on to win then that will call for a celebration with some vanilla soft serve for victory over Aston Vanilla.
Oh - Jansson nearly had his brace! A cracking volley that skimmed the bar!
now its off the bar
OH!!! Another corner from Dallas that was headed away and a spectacular volley from Jansson cannoned off the top of the bar.
And after laying on those two chances for Jansson from corners. Stu Dallas makes way for Pablo Hernandez.
We've really got our tails up now - another corner.
Best of luck the rest of the match
I'm off to do the driveway
Pablo Hernandez is on for Dallas as Garry Monk calls for some experience at the center of the pitch.
And another corner, this time earned by Sacko.
Cheers, UWS. Wishing you the best
Bridcutt may be in trouble for taking out Bakuna. Yellow card.
Hernandez takes the corner and after some head tennis Villa clear and Liam Bridcutt is booked for a foul on a Villa break. The first booking fo the match
Best of luck with that, mate.
Douks strolls through for a shot on goal but is flagged off.
Doukarra is flagged offside by the lineswoman as he was through
Leeds will move up to third with a win. . Do you have an ample supply of kleenex?
I do have some extra boxes on hand. I can't believe it!
Ross wasn't ready for that pass, showing why he is no longer a Leeds player.
Hopefully , Kate can do the business tomorrow if she isn't exhausted by the train ride.
Ah - Phillips got into a great position in the box but then dragged his shot wide. But we're looking really good now.
Great ball straight out of play from Ayew. 25 more minutes of that, please.
I hope so, too, mate. I'm getting her warmed up for the trip.
Well in, mate. Apparently, it's a musical from Broadway, as Liz Taylor in the Burton Goal , is singing No Jackett Required.
Lovely - Chris Wood is coming on for the last twenty minutes. Great to see him back. Kemar Roofe takes a seat.
One striker on for another as Chris Wood is on for Kemar Roofe. Power on for speed and trickery.
LOL! Nice ones, mate. You're on a roll. Gooner seemed to enjoy your puns yesterday.
Now we're into a "bitty period" of the match, according to Jon Champion.
Twenty minutes - hang in there, lads!
Thanks mate to you and the Gooner. Jon Champion with a nice pun yesterday . When Harry Kane ballooned over a penalty, he said that it was halfway to Portsmouth . UWS would have appreciated that,
Nice effort there from Hernandez. Just floated over.
The latest from Broadway is that Desmond has not been able to negotiate a price with a scalper. Liz Taylor is hoping that continues.
Sparky and Fred are begging for Melanie's hotdog instead of watching the match. Poor form.
Fifteen minutes left - hang in there, boys!
Oh - Sacko was nearly in there but the keeper did well off his line.
Great close range block by Sticky Bunn from Sacko
A double change for Villa now - Gestede on for Jedinak and Adomah on for Ayew. Attacking moves from Stevie B.
Gestede for Jedinak and Albert Adomah on for the ineffective Jordan Ayew as Brucie makes some attacking changes with his final rolls of the dice.
Nice fist away by Green.
Luke Ayling heads clear for a Villa corner. that is headed away.
Ten minutes left - hang in there, lads!
Villa win another corner as they pile on the pressure.
It finished 1-1 in Serie B between Bari and Spal, a match with playoff implications.
Decent effort from Bridcutt now.
Rolando Vieira coming on for Bridcutt now.
Rolando Viera is on for Liam Bridcutt.
Bloody hell - Villa have a penalty. The referee didn't see Liam Cooper's arm up but the linesman did.
I am back without a link
Cooper is booked and it's all getting a bit ugly now.
sorry mate
Villa rusgh to Roger East , howling for a penalty for hand ball.
BUGGER!!! AFTER CONFERRING WITH ANDY GARRET , ROGER EAST AWARDS VILLA A PENALTY . IT WAS RECKLESS STEERING FROM LIAM MINI COOOPER.
And Kodjia scores.
1-1
BUGGER !!!! 1-1 KODJA BLASTS THE SPOT KICK IN THE CORNER, SENDING ROB GREEN THE WRONG WAY.
Now Villa will fancy nicking this one. Hang on!
Jansson talked himself into the book while Liam Mini Cooper was booked for poor handling at the wheel.
OHHHHHH>>>>>>
Sacko was in there but could only find the bar.
OH!!! A horrible defensive error and Sacko should have won i8t for Leeds as his shot came off the underside of the bar with just Sticky Bunn to beat
We're pushing on for a win now. Good to see.
Oh - great save by Green to keep things square. What an ending to this match!
Oh - Sacko was in again but couldn't keep his feet to cross.
OH!!! Kodja was through , but a superb close range block by Rob Green. Four minutes of stoppage time.
Villa have been robbed by some great keeping and must be green with envy.
Oh =- that could have gone anywhere from the corner!
Luke Ayling and Jansson had great efforts blocked by Amavi.
Kodja curls an effort well wide.,
Two stoppage minutes left now.
Chester picks up a yellow card for a rash one.
James Chester is booked for a horrible challenge on Viera.
And it ends honors even. 1-1.
We'll go up to fourth temporarily. A fair result, I suppose but I'm unhappy that we gave up the lead.
It finishes 1-1 at Villa Park. I'm sorry Leeds didn't hold on to the lead, but a draw at Villa Park is still a decent result.
You would have taken it at the beginning but bad because you had the lead
You're still going up
I hope so - nice chatting with you lads today.
Cheers lads . It was great chatting . Enjoy the rest of the day and look forward to chatting on Saturday
