Tuesday Afternoon Footer Madness!
Just when you thought it was safe to return to work, the footer gods have scheduled a full slate of Premiership and Championship matches this afternoon. The big one is United hosting Everton; however, my eye will be on Brentford where my beloved Leeds United will try to bounce back from a bad loss to Reading at the weekend. Come on, you Whites!

Afternoon, chaps - well, here we are again. The wheel just keeps on turning, and we just keep on keeping on. There’s football all over the shop this afternoon.
Headlines from the team news this afternoon:
Headlines from those teams: Lee Clattermole makes his first appearance for Sunderland since September, which is far too late for them but nevermind; Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back for Manchester United, but Wayne Rooney is indisposed and Luke Shaw - deemed a worthless layabout by Jose the other day - is on the bench; no idea how that Everton team is actually going to line-up; from the looks of that Burnley team Steven Defour might be playing on the wing.
This afternoon's matches have all kicked off now - no streaming coverage of the Brentford v. Leeds on BEIn sadly. They've gone with Rotherham v. Not a Big Club. Someone should be fired, clearly.
Early goal in the Champ, and Brighton have quite literally not wasted any time in going ahead against Birmingham, Glenn Murray tucking home Bruno’s cross to make it 1-0 and football’s happiest man, Gianfranco Zola, sad.
And another! Aston Villa are 1-0 up over QPR, and obviously it’s Jonathan Kodjia who has bagged. That’s nine goals in 13 games since he came back from the Africa Cup of Nations. Not bad.
The two big matches beyond the Leeds one, obviously, for us are the aforementioned Rotherham v. Not a Big Club as well as Fulham away to Derby. Two losses there for NABC and the Cottagers, please!
Wahay - that'll do nicely. Derby have taken the lead against Fulham, with David Nugent dinking a lovely wee one over Cottagers keeper David Button.
Watford are ahead through Mbaye Niang - a rocket of a shot into the corner from the edge of the area from the Milan loanee.
Bollocks! A really bad minute there for us. We've fallen behind to the Bees and Wednesday have taken the lead at Rotherham. Grr!
Not good - but keep in mind that all we have to do for the next seven matches is keep the pace with the 7th side in the league - right now that's Fulham who are losing.
Ruddy Norah! We're 2-0 down! Grr!
Phil Jags has nodded Everton ahead at OT - oh dear.
Half time at Brentford - we'll need an almight fight-back in the second half. This is not the time for a late season slump. Come on!
Back on for the second half. Here's the situation.
Not a Big Club are currently leading 0-2 at Rotherham. That one is just about done. Our saving grace is that Derby are currently 2-1 up against Fulham. We need that result to hold, which would keep us in 5th place and five points ahead of Fulham in 7th.
Three for Derby, and three for David Nugent, who bags the matchball after he chases down the ball when clean through, his touch is heavy and it runs through to Button, but he charges down the clearance and eventually runs the ball into the net. Derby 3-1 Fulham.
Back for one last check of the scores before I head down to my class.
We're still 0-2 down but Derby are romping it 4-1 now. That one seems safe.
All three of our subs are on now - Roofe, Douks and Pedraza. Come on!
More bad news for David Moyes - Leicester have scored though Slimani.
Vardy has added a second goal at the KP. Sacked in the morning?
Zlatan scores a 93rd minute equalizer
UNITED STINK
If only Leeds had scored a 93rd minute equalizer. We've got down again - 2-0 to Brentford, our second loss on the trot. Still - we're 5 points ahead of Fulham due to their loss at Derby. The struggle continues.
