A Mid Summer's Night Midweek Triple Header
To make a long story short, the boys of Summer will be entertaining us with two ICC matches and the Gold Cup Final sandwiched in between. It starts with United vs Barca at 7:30 PM from Fed Ex Field on the Deuce, followed by the Gold Cup Final on FS1 , kicking off at 9:30 PM , and concluding with Citeh vs Real kicking off at 11:35 PM on ESPN from L.A. Memorial Colosseum. It's great viewing unless it's past your bedtime!

They're off from FRED EX Field .
COME ON UNITED!
Still 0-0. De Gea did well to turn around a shot from Suarez.
Messi just wide from just outside the box.
Cillesen did well to push away a long range rocket from the Chunk.
Rash took a short corner then got the ball back. He danced through the Barca defense then from a few yards out a powerful near post effort was turned around by Cillessen.
Pogba goes on a 50 yard solo run down the right and is tackled by Biscuits for a corner that is easily headed away.
Messi tripped by Miki about thirty yards from goal.
Into the wall by Messi.
De Gea blocks a close range effort from Neymar off a through ball from Suarez after United coughed up possession.
GOAL !!!NEYMAR GIVES BARCA THE LEAD AFTER HE APPEARED TO FOUL VALENCIA.
It started deep in the Barca half when Blind lost possession. Several passes later , a through ball from Messi attempted for Neymar went to Valencia , who stumbled and Neymar crashed home the shot from close range.,
Pogba trip[s Messi just outside the United box.
A better free kick from Messi is curled not too far over.
De Gea with a spectacular save off a close range volley from Suarez after a poor defensive header from Lidelof off a long Barca free kick./
Barca one up at the end of a half that they dominated.
Evening, MUR - hope that United can get back into this one.
I'm back just in time to see the El Tri manager getting jostled a bit by Mexico City hacks. Shame.
Oh dear Lexi and Fernando.
Good evening, D Bruvs. Barca defeated United 1-0 thanks to Christmas in July . Comical defending by Valencia gifted Neymar a first half goal.
Evening, Gooner! I'm hoping that you've got a nice libation at your side for this one.
Team news:
USA: Timmy, Villafana, Besler, Arriola, Bradley, Morris, Acosta, Gonzalez, Nagbe, Jozy, Little Susie
Jamaica: Blake, Lowe, Richie, Taylor, Lawrence, Powell, Gordon, Watson, Fisher, Mattocks, Williams.
The gift from Valencia to Neymar was sent FED EX.
Wonder Woman and the Bald Eagle are on a date. I promise not to make any jokes about that.
They're off from Levi Stadium
No Hamid again. We at DCU are so happy that the Mad Hatter has taken him away from us for the duration of this rinky-dink event while we sink ever further away from playoff contention. Bravo, Bruce.
And we're underway in tonight's final - come on, you Yanks!
I don't really understand Arena's policy. He should have tested out the marginal players throughout the tournament, not just used them in the group stage and then convert to the starters when the knock-out rounds started. Makes no sense in such a nothing tournament.
Agreed. He may find some gems for next Summer. We won't know now.
Romario Willams with an early bit of aggro on Arriola. Nasty.
Former UCF player, Romario Williams, with a foul Villafana.
The US already in the ascendency. Not liking the condition of this pitch. Looks a bit patchy from our vantage point.
He didn't learn that behavior at UCF. Either at Atlanta United or the Charleston AA Battery,
Agreed. This thing should have been used to coalesce the team, eliminate Juan Aguadelo, and really give Bill a chance to prove that he's the keeper of the future. What he's done guarantees that TMH will be farting around with no-hopers until the final deadline day. Poor player management.
That's the pitch that was used Sunday when United faced Real.
That must be why they call him the Mad Hatter,
Reggae Boyz definitely just looking to counter with the speed merchants like Mattocks. No ambition whatsoever.
Watson fouls the Pie Eater, telling him to dig in.
Another crunching tackle from the Jamaicans - time to get the cards out, ref!
The same tactics were used against Mexico.
Did he leave them at the Hallmark Store?
Arriola down now for the U.S.
Maybe. I reckon we're going to be Waiting in Vain for the ref's cards tonight.
Stu Holden talks about Bruce's man management. We do not concur.
Arriola sure has been in the wars early doors.
Yikes! I haven't seen clumps of turf come up like that since watching the gophers in " Caddyshack."
A quarter of an hour now and, despite their advantage in possession, there have been precious few goal attempts by the US, that wayward Nagbe shot notwithstanding.
Gopher-Cong at Bushwood Stadium
That was a divot and a half!
That possession stat is meaningless as Andre Blake has yet to be tested in the Jamaican goal.
That sod did not get laid properly.
The seams at the side line look like career enders.
Agreed - Andre Blake could be cooking up some jerk chicken in a big oil drum behind the goal.
Of course, as I type that Blake makes his first real save of the match.
Blake does well to block a powerful long range effort from Dozy then gets wacked blocking the rebound from Acosta as Damian Lowe cleared off the line. Blake still down.
I didn't see a lot of contact on that follow up from Acosta. Not sure why Blake is down for the count.
Hell of a hit from Jozy. Keeper takes what looks like a bad hand injury. Dislocated finger, thumb is my guess.
Maybe I'm wrong - Dwayne Miller being prepared to come on.
That Blake looks to be seriously injured. That will be a huge loss as he has been the best keeper in this tournament. I think he could play in England. Looks to be replaced by Roy Miller, who plays in the Swedish second division.
Sorry. Dwayne. I think Roy is a defender with the Ticos.
That's it for Andre Blake as he's replaced by Dwayne Miller. The U.S. should test him ASAP.
Blake loos devastated on the bench and I don't blame him.
Agreed - Michael Bradley can swing this one in to test Miller.
Miller catches it easily.
Miller did well to catch a long free kick in traffic. That will be a confidence booster,
Ah - Nagbe nearly found Acosta in the area there. Just couldn't control it.
PSG tie it up vs Juve early in the second half. Higuain gave Juve the lead on the stroke of halftime and Goncalo Guedes just ties it up for PSG.
Darren Mattocks booked for the Reggae Boyz.
Huge clumps of stray turf all over the pitch. I'm waiting for one of the players to play a one-two off a big clod.
Lawrence heads out for the first U.S. corner of the match.
A poor corner cleared by the first man , Watson.
I would love to see a slide tackle on that clod .
A poor tackle on Ritchie will Acosta him a booking.
Timmy fouled as he goes to gather the ball from the free kick.
Bloody hell - that was a good run by Mattocks putting the frighteners on the US defense.
Omar Gonzalez tackles Mattocks for a Jamaican corner.
Marchiseo gives Juve a 1-2 lead vs PSG. Are we watching the wrong match?
Our right side worries me. And unlike in other positions where there's a European based player, I can't think of a solution on the right.
Oh - Nagbe did so well to get to the by-line but Arriola's touch was too heavy.
OH!!! A poor touch by Arriola off a great run and cross from Nagbe. He should have at least tested Miller.
We may qualify for Russia, but we are highly unlikely to make it past the group stage.
Bradley fouled by former UCF star, Romario Williams.
Dangerous free kick chance now for Dozy.
Arriola continues to trap the ball 10 yards. His first touch is terrible. His second is a foul.
GOAL! Lovely curling free kick from Dozy.
1-0 US!
GOAL !!!! WHAT A FREE KICK BY JOZY, BENT LIKE BECKS IN THE UPPER 90.
Great free kick from Jozy. He does have those in his locker. Maybe that will open this up a bit.
Miller was poorly positioned there in the middle, not really covering either the near or the far post.
Into four minutes of stoppage time.
Great time for the US to score there - should really knock the stuffing out of the Reggae lads.
Watson fouls Nagbe.
Nice chance for the US to add to their lead now in the waning moments. Needs a good delivery. No it's a poor one straight into Miller's arms.
I saw that too. Miller was in no-man's land there from the start. Taking nothing away from the power behind Jozy's hit, I agree with the consensus that the keeper that's having his thumb stitched back on might have done better with that.
The U.S. are one up at the half thanks to a free kick from Jozy that was bent like Becks.
I swear that Fernando has more comic props than Gallagher. Stone and Lalas would do well to keep a tarp handy if he shows up with a barrow of melons and a sledge hammer.
Pstore has scored for PSG to make it Desmond vs Juve.
Lexy doesn't seem to be amused by the props. He doesn't have a sense of humor?
We're back on for the second half - more of the same, lads!
Marchiseo with his second of the match as he has just put Juve 3-2 ahead vs PSG with a spot kick.
I just realized that the dread I usually feel watching the US in a CONCACAF final is absent because Mexico is too. I'd love it it those mugs had to play a 3rd place match against the Ticos to humiliate El Tri further.
Besler blocks a cross that results in a Jamaican corner.
BLOODY HELL!!! JEVON WATSON TIES IT UP FROM THAT CORNER.
GOAL! Bloody hell - the Jamaicans have equalized from a soft set piece routine. Poor.
1-1
Morris switched off there and allowed Watson to creep around him at the back post. Terrible defending. How right you were Gooner about the softness of our right side.
Really shoddy defending there from Morris allows the Jamaicans an unworthy equalizer.
THE CORNER WAS CURLED IN AND WATSON SCORED WITH A LEFT FOOTED VOLLEY AT THE FAR POST DUE TO THE FACT THAT HIS MARKER WAS TOO BUSY EATING CHERRY PIE.
The lesson to be learned is that eating pie cannot be done simultaneously while defending at set pieces.
Cue the Deuce!
An attacking switch as Clint is on for Acostly.
The ineffectual Acosta off for Deuce now before the hour mark. More than half an hour for him to make his mark.
Another ICC match has concluded as Juve defeat PSG 3-2.
Would be a nice evening for Deuce to break Landycakes' record.
Who scored the winner for Juve, mate?
Agreed. The timing would be perfect.
It was Marchiseo from the spot in the 89th minute, his second of the match for Juve.
Cheers, mate - sorry I missed your earlier comment during half time.
No problem. Glad to help at any time.
Will you and the Gooner be around for Citeh vs Real ?
Dempsey down from a challenge by the Jamaican goal scorer. Seems to be okay.
I would've loved to have seen El Tri have to play that 3rd/4th match, although I probably dislike the Ticos even more than El Tri.
Probably not, mate - we've got an early morning. Might not even make the end of this one, especially if there is extra time.
The announcer said if this is tied at the end of regulation, it's ET and spot kicks. It wasn't that way in the earlier rounds . Why now?
Dunno, mate.
I don't blame you . That one ends REAL late. I think around 1:30 AM your time.
Arriola with a free header , heads straight to Miller.,
Oh - a peach of a cross by Villafana but Arriola's header was lacking in power.
Since there is not a third placed match, Osorio will still be suspended for a World Cup qualifier in September.
Villafana has a cross blocked for the second U.S. corner of the match. Bradley has a shot blocked for another U.S. corner.
The corner is headed out for another.
Miller catches the next corner.
That's the upside of not getting to see those mugs sweat it out for third place.
Wicked deflection in the box - could have gone anywhere.
The pie eater showing a burst of speed, but the pass in the box was behind both intended players.
Deuce has been anonymous so far. No service at all.
US piling the pressure on now. Would love to see a goal before i head for Bedfordshire.
Zardes preparing to enter the game now, perhaps for Morris.
Miller tips over a shot from the Pie Eater.
Oh - Morris hit the target with a raking shot - well saved by Miller.
Oh - Powell nearly nipped in at the near post to punk the US. Phew!
Jamaica counter off the corner that was led by Flash Gordon and a last ditch clearance prevented a Jamaica lead. Little Susie with that vital intervention.
Jamaica try the same corner routine that led to their goal - doesn't work the second time.
Oh - I thought for sure that Deuce had scored the winner there.
OH!!! Miller tips a header from Clint onto the post. Nearly the lead for the U.S.
Zardes on for Arriola.
Not so keen on this Zardes kid.
Mattocks offside despite a kick save from Timmy.
Sounds like something from " Blake's Seven."
Zardes has very little close control and poor possession. He's got a very good engine which Arena admires more than I do.
That's it for me, lads. Enjoy the rest of it. Hoping the Yanks can pull it out.
Richie called for hand ball as Bradley gets ready to take a free kick. It's lofted in and headed away.
Good night, mate. Great chatting with you.
Mattocks fouls Jozy about twenty five yards from goal.
The free kick from Clint is driven low. Ping pongy in the box as Miller pushes the ball away. Eventually a foul is called.
Kevon Lambert on for Richie.
Damian Lowe heads the free kick from Flash Gordon well wide.
Whew. Morris picks up the scraps and rifles it home.
As I'm finishing up my flossing routine, Morris wins it for the US!
There's a lesson for all you kiddies - proper oral hygiene produces goals! Hurrah!
GOAL !!! THE PIE EATER LOOKS TO HAVE WIN THE GOLD CUP FOR THE U.S. WITH A WELL PLACED SHOT IN THE UPPER 90 AFTER A CROSS FROM ZARDES WAS POORLY CLEARED AND THE PIE EATER MADE UP FOR MARKING ON THE JAMAICAN GOAL.
Welcome back. Definitely true as the girls and I had a our six month cleaning this afternoon
Three minutes of stoppage time.
The final roll of the dice from the Mad Hatter as Sacks Fifth Avenue McCarty is on for Nagbe.
Timmy booked for time wasting.
The US have won the the Gold Cup - hurrah!!!!
It's over as the U.S win the Gold Cup defeating Jamaica 2-1 thanks to that late winner from the Pie Eater.
Nighty night, gents - it was a pleasure.
Cool. A 2-1 win and confetti festival. Right, I'm off to bed. Cheers Al-Prez and Bob.
Just switched over to Citeh vs Real and Citeh wearing a horrible all purple kit with sky blue trim.
Good D Bruvs. Enjoyed the pleasure of your company.
