Saturday is Back!!
Yes, folks, the long, lonely summer is over. It's safe to come back into the living room and sit on the settee for several hours on a Saturday morning, because football. is. back. Well, at least Championship football is back on Saturdays. Well, at least you can access the Championship on ESPN3 this morning. If you have FlashPlayer on your device. So, okay, it's a bit of a disappointing return to football. But - football is back! Join me if you're around this morning. It's Fulham v. Norwich at 10am on whatever device you've got nearby.

I've just spent a blissful half hour putting together my "Book," including the 2017/2018 Leeds United squad with numbers and the fixture list. I'm an officially ready for the season to begin.
Good morning, Bob. Just finished brekkies. I will be watching the match on the computer and the scores on my phone. The late match is Villa vs Brucies's former Tigers. Two matches today that may give us a clue about the promotion race or that may further confuse us.
The Orient Express did not have a great train ride as they lost 2-0 in their first ever Conference match at Sutton United's plastic pitch.
Solihull Moors vs Chester has been postponed. I guess Chester couldn't muster up the funds to ride the Marrakesh Express.
The SPL started today as Celtic thrashed Hearts 4-1. No surprise there.
The teams walking out on the pitch at Bob's house , which looks neat and orderly as usual.
This is a potentially early promotion six pointer, IMHO.
The Canaries start with a hometown keeper making his league debut
They're off from Bob and Kate's orderly house.
Morning, MUR - once again I've been frustrated this morning trying to access the ESPN3 link. I keep trying to sign into my Spectrum account and it's still blocking my access. Why oh why is there no telly coverage this morning!
Nearly and early lead for the Cottagers as Johanssen found Caballo down the left , but nobody could connect on his great pass into the box.
Good morning, mate. I think ESPN now has the rights to the Football League and the Carabao Cup. Sorry I meant League Cup.
It's been all Fulham as the Canaries have been defending desperately and now an effort goes just wide.
I don't like it either. The link constantly buffers and I have to reload several times per match. I prefer the telly in all honesty.
Hibs are stung by Thistle early on their return to the SPL as they trail at home.
I may be reloading every 60 seconds and may miss all the goals. It looks like you and Kate have a nice orderly looking place.
While I'm still struggling to get live streaming coverage, here is the team news out of the Cottage:
Fulham: Button, Fredericks, Kalas, Ream, Seesegnon, Norwood, Johansen, Aluko, Cairney, Kebano, Ayite
Norwich: Gunn, Martin, Zimmerman, Franke, Wildschut, Maddison, Reed, Vrancic, Husband, Watkins, Jerome
So is there no BEin coverage of the Championship this season?
It seems that way unless I'm mistaken. The match from the Reebok is on ESPN 3 tomorrow.
IN L1, Posh lead newly promoted Argyle and Scunny lead the Real Dons
Cammy Jerome with a nasty challenge from behind on Ollie Norwood and lucky to get away without a booking.
Exeter City lead Cambridge as do Yeovil at Luton.
I'm really upset about that. I may well dump my soccer package if I'm not getting anything on BEin anymore.
Fredricks wins a corner for the Cottagers, getting the better of Jimmy Husband. The Canaries kadoomph it away
Newly promoted Hibs tie it up vs Thistle while St. Johnny take the lead at Killie.
Wahay - the link has finally come up! Saturday is back for me.
Rotherham, releagted to L1 are singing the blues as they trail at Fleetwood Mac
Congratulations, mate. I'm delighted for you.
Tim Ream with an excellent block as Maddison wound up a shot.
Vrancic misses a good chance for the Canaries.
Bad miss there from Vrancic. That was a good chance for the Serbian and he made a hash of it - well over the top.
From the little I've seen so far, it appears that the Canaries have had the better of things.
Oh - Watkins with a great chance but it's straight down David Button's throat.
The Canaries are having trouble settling down at your and Kate's place. I don't recall having those problems. Any updates to the house that I am not aware of?
UWS may not be joining us because he may be watching the cricket match between England and South Africa.
Bristol City take the lead vs Barnsley
Luton have awoken in Bedfordshire as they have come from behind to lead Yeovil 2-1.
Meanwhile BEin is showing the PSG Neymar Welcome Party.
Grr......
UWS always did love his cricket. I haven't followed it since I was a teenager. I don't know any of the players anymore.
Stevenage take the lead vs Newport County as do Accrington Stanley vs Colchester as do Port Vale at Crawley.
GOAL! Fulham start their season with an own goal against the run of play!!
GOAL !!!! THE COTTAGERS TAKE THE LEAD THANKS TO AN OG. THE PASS FROM CABALLO TOOK A HORRIBLE DEFLECTION OF OF RUSSELL MARTIN. HE REALLY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
A deserved lead based on overall play. Yellows will not be pleased.
The speed merchant winger Ayite did really well to get into a dangerous position and whip a cross in that just clipped off the heel of Norwich skipper Russell Martin. Yellows won't be pleased with that.
1-0 Cottagers.
Do they call it a four day test match because it tests one's patience?
Ayite made Russell Aston Martin drive and reverse
I wonder if Yellows has re-upped for the season ticket again.
QPR take the lead vs the Reading Railroad.
I would say he has if I know him the way I do.
I'm sure that's true. I used to love the test matches in the summer, because I had nothing else to do. I often would have it on in the background and keep an eye on it throughout the day. Sort of like, "Oh - Boycott still up at bat and has 105 now..."
Port Vale two up at Crawley and Luton now lead Yeovil 3-1.
I still don't quite understand why he's in England. Something to do with his work, I suppose.
The Vale are our League Cup opponents on Wednesday.
Sounds like great memories, mate. I did actually need the break this Summer because we were way behind and chores and not caught up until about a week ago.
I think it's work related ,but I think he goes back and forth between England and the U.S.
Oh - Ayite at it again, but Zimmerman put in a vital block at the right time.
Just over by Vrancic for the Canaries then Zimmerman tackles Ayite for a Fulham corner and Ayite misses an open goal from the corner.
I know what you mean, mate - we've had a load of projects going this summer and I've only had half an eye on the footer. But once the semester starts up again in a couple of weeks, I should be back to my usual rhythm. For the first time in a couple of years, i'm not teaching on either Tuesday or Wednesday, so I should be able to watch a bit more of the mid-week matches.
Bristol City now three up vs Barnsley
OH!!! Inches wide by Aluko off a nice one two with Cairney.
Starting to rain a little at the Cottage.
Oh - Maddison was found well there and he tried to wiggle his way into a bit of space. Shot was deflected over for a corner.
That sounds like a great schedule. Since this is my second to last year, I have been pondering taking off every other Thursday and Friday so as to have four day weekend every other week.
I missed that shot , but Caballo is about to take the corner that is headed away by Cammy Jerome then Vrancic is called for a push on Tom Cairney
Fulham have a tasty free kick chance now. Dinked in but cleared out.
The Evil Blades take the lead vs the Bees on their return to the Championship. That must sting, mate.
Wolves take the lead vs the Teesiders. That must please you.
Ross County take the lead at Crocodile Dundee while Hibs have come from behind to lead Partick Thistle on their return to the SPL.
Yeah - I've got a good mate at work here who's a massive Wolves fan. He'll be pleased for sure.
I'm hoping that the Blades go straight back down. They can take Not a Big Club with them, too. Sheffield shite belong in the lower divisions.
Oxford United take the lead at Oldham and Southend United are two up vs Blackburn. How the mighty have fallen!
I thought you would be pleased to see Garry Monk trailing. Pleased for your friend.
Actually, I don't harbor that many misgivings for Gary. He did a good job for us; I just wish we could have hung on to him longer. Now if he poaches Chris Wood off us, it's all over between the two of us.
Accrington Stanley two up vs Colchester as are Grimsby at Chsterfield. Swindon take the lead at Carlisle and Coventry adjsting to life in L@ take the lead vs Notts County
I've actually got Boro pencilled in as a promotion contender on my PPP.
BLOODY HELL!!! Luton lead Yeovil 5-1 after trailing early on. Lincoln City on their return to the Football League have a decent 1-1 tie at Wycombe.
That's half-time - I'm headed for the shower.
The Cottagers are deservedly one up at the half thanks to an OG by Canaries skipper, Russell Martin.
It may be a long return tot eh Football League for Jeff's lads , who trail vs Dover at the half.
The sun is out again at the Cottage after a brief shower. The teams heading out of the tunnel.
The second half is underway from Bob and Kate's orderly place.
Aluko has a goal disallowed for offside after a nice one two down the right between Ayite and Fredricks.
Tim Ream fouls Marley Watkins in the D or did Someone get a D on a report that was graded by Bob?
The free kick from Madison was about a foot or two over and always rising.
Fredricks called for a foul on Harrison Reed.
Ayite cut inside three Canaries defenders and shot just over.
I'm back from a refreshing shower now.
Hibs now lead Partick 3-1. It's as if they never left the SPL.
Oh - Aluko was nearly in there but it just ran on to the keeper.
Oh - decent move by Norwich. Watkins denied by Button at the end of it. He might have tried power instead of placement.
OH!!!! Caballo has a shot cannon off the post.
Welcome back. Both you and London SW have completed your shower.
UWS will be pleased that Pompey have taken the lead vs Rochdale on their return to L1
You will not be pleased that Argyle are two down at Posh on their return to L1.
The first change for the Canaries as Josh Murphy is on for Yanic Wildschut.
Josh Murphy in being thrown on to replace Wildschut. I'm surprised. Wildshut was one of Norwich's best players so far today. Did he pick up a knock?
Both Abe Lincoln and Vegan club, Forest green Rovers enjoying their return to the Football League. Desomond between Wycombe and Abe Lincoln while Forest Green two up vs Barnet in their first ever league match
He seemed to be okay. I guess the Canaries German manager wanted something different.
Ipswich take the lead vs Redknapp's Blues & QPR go two up vs Jaap's chaps.
Ross County go two up at Crocodile Dundee. Now that's a knife!
Killie tie it up vs St. Johnny.
Blackburn pull one back at Southend on Sea, but trail 2-1.
Tom Cairney is the first booking of the match
Barnet pull one back at Forest green while Luton lead Yeovil 6-1.
Denis Odoi on for 17 year old, Ryan Sess.
A late double header . The Spuds vs Juve on ESPN and Brucie's former Tigers visit his Villa Park on Watch ESPN. Will you be around for those?
Bradford City take a 2-1 lead vs the newly promoted Tangerines.
Rotherham United really singing the blues at Fleetwood Mac as they are two down upon relegation to L1.
Blimey - the Hatters are running riot!
The Real Dons tie it up at Scunny.
Kamara gets past Zimmerman and a teasing pass is cleared for a corner.
That's why they call them the Mad Hatters.
I'll be back at the projects after this one, mate. Normal service will resume next weekend.
Luton were leading Yeovil 6-1 . Now they lead 7-2.
Tommy Spurr of Preston has just clattered the woodwork against Sheffield Wednesday with a power header from a corner kick. But it remains goalless at Deepdale.
Cheers, mate. I'll be looking forward to that, mate/
That looked like hand ball by Denis Odoi off a volley from Aston Martin. I don't blame him for being furious at not being awarded a penalty.
The schedule tomorrow is the Charity Shield on FS 1 at 9 AM and Bolton vs Leeds on ESPN 3 at 1130 AM. Leeds vs Port Vale in the League Cup on ESPN 3 in midweek.
I'm all over that schedule, mate. Should be good.
Looked like a good shout for a penalty.
Barnet have come from behind to make it Desmond at league debutants, Forest Green. Desmond also watching Jayne Mansfield at Motley Crewe. A tad naughty?
Wes Hoolahan on for Harrison reed.
Now PNE have scored against Not a Big Club. Wahay!
Johnson from the spot.
Looking forward to that Carabao Cup match? Sounds like a cruise ship.
Cheering for Ridsdale's lads? That's a surprise, mate.
Argyle pull one back as they trail 2-1 at Posh.
The match seems to be becoming a more open affair now.
Looking like an away win for the Canaries to open their season then.
Cardiff have scored late on at Burton. They've been on top for most of the match. Zohore with the winner.
Johansen picks up a late yellow card to add insult to injury.
I think the Cottagers will win promotion and this match has reinforced that
Sorry - I meant to write that Fulham look to be wrapping up an opening home win. They could be contenders.
Evil Neil's lads with a stinging twist as the plot thickens late at Richard Burton
GOAL !!!! THE CANARIES TIE IT UP LATE ON.
GOAL! Oliveira has equalized for Norwich right at the death!!
Then the link buffers as it's frozen on the shirtless scorer.
Oliveira makes sure to show off his shirt to the manager, pressing his claim for a starting slot. The manager won't like that and he'll pick up a yellow as well. Silly boy.
Four minutes of stoppage time as visiting Canaries fans go bonkers.
Into stoppage time then.
Coventry go two up vs Notts County, adjusting to life in L2.
Yellows must be going nuts.
Bristol City, QPR, Cardiff, Ipswich, Forest, PNE, Sheff Utd and Wolves look as if they're off to a winning start and will make up the initial top ten.
Well over by Tom Cairney
Villa and the Tigers may two as well as Leeds tomorrow.
It finishes 1-1 between two teams that may each be playing in the Prem next season.
That's it - it ends all square at Craven Cottage. I'll look forward to chatting with you tomorrow morning as things kick off properly with the Shield and the opening Leeds math.
Wishing you a great rest of the day. Hope to enjoy the pleasure of your company tomorrow.,
