Saturday Morning on the Road
Greetings from Little Rock, Arkansas! I'm on the road this weekend at the History of Education Society conference. I'll be presenting at 8:30am CST, so I'm just posting this so that you can chip in. I should be back up in the room for the 11:00 EST kick-offs and am especially looking forward to following the late one between Brentford and Leeds United. See you then!

Hey Boys
I am around for a bit but Kathy and I are taking our niece up to Lake George today.
I made sure it was today and not tomorrow when all the big ones are on!
They have started in the Potteries
I don't know what I think about the Foxes players.
Play great for Claudio...then stop listening

Thanks for keeping the home fires burning this morning, UWS. I'm back in the room now after my early morning presentation and looking forward to relaxing in front of a couple of matches.
I'm watching Newcastle v. Bournemouth on NBC Sports. The Magpies very much in the ascendancy, but no goals as of yet.
Leeds have dropped to 8th ahead of our match this afternoon.
The first round of the FA Cup is getting underway today, as well.
Half an hour gone and no goals in the Premier League. Not good value for money for the punters.
We need losses for Bristol City, Villa, Derby and Forest today.
Hurrah! It's a Premier League goal! Brighton have taken the lead at the Liberty against the Swans through Glenn Murray.
Norwich City have hit something of a wobble and trail Championship basement-dwellers Bolton Wanderers after conceding a goal scored by Gary Madine at the Macron Stadium.
The Blades are on course to lose their second match in succession. Wahay!
That's half-time, then. I'm off to grab some lunch.
Back after a tasty lunch break now. The telly match is still at 0-0. Huddersfield have notched a goal against the Baggies. But elsewhere it's 0-0. It's not going to be a classic on MOTD tonight
In the Championship, Bristol City have run out winners against Cardiff in that top of the table clash, Not a Big Club are putting Villa to shame at Villa Park 0-2, Reading are 1-3 up at Derby, and the Blades are at 1-1 against Hull. Not bad altogether.
Leeds are currently 9th but we could leap back into the 5th with a big win away to Brentford this afternoon.
Gary Lineker's prayers have been answered! Burnley have scored away to Soton!
Oh dear - the Blades have taken the lead late on against Hull. Shame, that.
Into the last five minutes here at SJP - the Toon Army really do deserve better than this shower. The most fun that they've had this afternoon has been in booing second-half sub Jermain Defoe.
GOAL! The Cherries win it right at the death through a header from Steve Cook from a header. Poor defending from Newcastle. The Toon Army are quiet.
0-1!
Toon fans are bellowing at the ref now as Cook pushes Gayle to the ground. Seemed like a dead cert foul and perhaps a red card offense for being last man back.
Boos ring the ground as Bournemouth win their first away match of the season. Newcastle down in the dumps.
More boos now at the Liberty as Swansea have lost one at home to Brighton.
Now over to Huddersfield who are hanging on to a slim 1-0 score against WBA.
The Baggies are inexplicably wearing green today. They've lost and the Terriers are now up to 10th the Premiership.
Of course the reason that the matches were so rubbish today is that the top five are all playing tomorrow, including two crackerjack matches - Citeh v. Arsenal and Chelsea v. Utd.
Next up - the big one between Brentford and Leeds.
Oh...and Liverpool are playing the Hammers.
Lovely - I've got the link up and running for the Leeds match on ESPN.
The teams are coming out at the Stadium of London now. Still waiting for the coverage to start over on ESPN.
Wahay! We're up and running on ESPN now. Here's the team news as the sides are coming out:
Lonergan, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Berardi, O'Kane, Vieira, Alioski, Phillips, Saiz, Lasogga
A moment of remembrance now being observed.
And we're about to get underway then at Brentford.
Thomas Christiansen looking dapper as usual today. He received a vote of confidence from the board earlier this week.
Brentford get us going wearing their traditional red and white stripes and black shorts; Leeds in the all-white, of course.
Oh - an early scare there for us. Really nervy start. Phew!
We're knocking it about with some confidence now.
Oh dear - Ayling gives away a cheap foul there. Brentford can swing a free kick in now.
Oh - another dangerous cross. Scrambled away fortunately.
Yannaris scuffs one wide now.
Another chance for Brentford. They are knocking on the door.
Bloody hell - Jansson gives away the ball and then in an attempt to recover, he fouls his man. Dangerous free kick chance now for Brentford.
Oh - Barbet hits it and it's just wide. Phew!
We've got to pull our fingers out but quick now.
Oh - great block by Jansson and then a great save by Lonergan. Desperate defending for us.
First shot on goal from us. Saiz lined one up and it caromed off a defender's back to Alioski, who hit it first time. Saved but the keeper but encouraging.
GOAL! Mo Salah notches Liverpool's opening goal at the Stadium of London. That will heap even more pressure on Slavan Bilic.
0-1 Pool!
Oh - Saiz had a chance there but chose to pass when he might have shot.
Bloody hell! Liverpool are 0-2 up now - really soft goal there.
Bugger! Lonergan makes a hash of a routine cross and Brentford are ahead 1-0.
Jansson has taken a head knock now and needs attention.
Long stoppage there for the treatment for Pontus.
Saiz cuts in nicely onto his right foot but his shot is straight at the keeper.
Lonergan holds onto a cross now - derisive applause from the Brentford crowd of course.
Oh - Alioski had a chance to lift a ball into the box - blows it well over. He's been in rotten form recently.
Oh - Route 1 from Lonergan to Lasogga but the big boy blew it over the crossbar. What a waste!
Coming down to half-time now.
Bugger! Bugger! Bugger! Penalty to Brentford right at the death. Jansson so clumsy.
Phew! Watkins blows it over the top!
Maybe that will be a change in fortune for us.
O'Kane picks up a yellow card as the waning moments come.
That's half-time, then. In truth, we haven't been in this one and could easily be a couple down. Still - the goal was avoidable, as was the penalty. We've had a few chances, too, so I'm hoping we can sort it out in the dressing room.
1-0 Brenford.
West Ham and Liverpool have kicked off again. Andy Carroll has come on for the Hammers.
West Ham have got one back at London Stadium. Good response from them in the second half. Let's hope Leeds can do the same as they kick off again at Griffin Park.
More pressure from the Bees now - we're still not turning the screw.
I'm happy to see that Kemar Roofe has come off the bench now. Hopefully he can change the picture for us.
Oh - Watkins has rattled one off the bar!
YES!!!!!
We're back in it after the Brentford keeper makes a hash of it. And Alioski benefits.
1-1!
Oh - Cooper had a free header here. This one could swing either way now.
Bloody hell - while I've been watching the Leeds match, Liverpool have scored two more!
1-4 at the London Stadium now.
Ronny Vieira gets a final warning now.
We seem to be in the driver's seat right now. A win would really be a tonic.
Oh - Yennaris blasts one off the crossbar now!
Just over ten minutes left for Leeds to win this one.
Grot is on now for the final stages.
We're giving up too many silly fouls now.
Bugger! A routine free kick in and it's crept into the far post. We've thrown it away. Lonergan again at fault.
Just under five minutes plus stoppage to salvage a point.
Good free kick chance now for us - this one must go in.
Oh - great cross over and Ayling should have scored. Just wide.
Two minutes of stoppage time to come. We must get it in the box now.
That's it - a third goal for Brentford. Another loss for us.
