Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Gunners have won the last fifteen home matches vs the Potters in all competitions and last last at home to Stoke in August 1981. So will the Potters get any vital points from this match. Highly doubtful
David Ospina makes his first Prem start of the season for the Gunners.
They're off from the EM.
Morning, MUR - thanks for getting us going this morning. It's a pleasure joining you for this tasty looking double-header.
The teams on display at the Em this afternoon:
Arsenal: Ospina, Bellerin, Chambers, Mustafi, Monreal, Elneny, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Welbeck, Aubameyang. Subs: Koscielny, Mkhitaryan, Lacazette, Iwobi, Xhaka, Kolasinac, Macey.
Stoke: Butland, Johnson, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Bauer, Ndiaye, Allen, Sobhi, Diouf, Shaqiri. Subs: Ireland, Berahino, Cameron, Crouch, Haugaard, Campbell, Sorenson.
Referee: Craig Pawson
A positive start from Stoke, Sobhi finding some room to surge down the left, but he runs out of both space and confidence as he enters the box and is dispossessed.
Oh - Shaquiri nearly bent one into the top corner to put Stoke up. Arsenal haven't gotten out of the dressing room yet.
The Potters with the first chance of the match and a left footed curler from Shaquiri from the edge of the box is just wide.
Good morning, Bob. Glad to enjoy the pleasure of your company.
Last time Stoke won away to the Gunners was August 1981 when Lee Chapman scored the winner. That resulted in his move to the Gunners . Remember him?
Also, some good news:Leeds match at your house will be on ESPN3 on Tuesday afternoon. Bet you are pleased about that.
I remember Lee very well - he was our top scorer in the title year a decade later.
Ramadan Soby walks like an Egyptian to win a Potters corner.
A poor corner from Wee Joe is out for another.
Lovely! I'll mark that on my calendar to have some "executive time" on Tuesday afternoon.
The next corner is equally poor. Diouf does his best , but can't make anything from it.
I will be teaching at that time , so I will need to watch the match in the evening. Wish I could join you. Look forward to seeing if there are any updates to yours and Kate's place.
The Gunners host CSKA Moscow on Thursday in the EL
That should be a fixture that they should be able to win easily. But it might distract them today.
Ramsey down injured. That's one player the Gunners don't want to lose due to injury. Now he's up.
Agreed. Then the Gunners are at home to the Saints in the early match next Sunday. Sounds like an easy run of fixtures for the Gooner.
Best move yet for the Arsenal leads to Ramsey skinning the bar with a looping shot.
Better from the Gunners as Wilshere passed to Ramsey and he found Bellerin wide down the right. His cross into the box was deflected and poorly punched away by Butland. The rebound from Ramsey scraped the top of the net.
Fred says Leeds vs the Black Cats is on ESPN 3 on Saturday. Bet you're excited about that one.
First reference to that EL match on Thursday from Peter Drury - I would suspect that that match is hanging over this one. As Drury said, they're whole season is now dependent on the EL.
Agree with Jon Champion that the atmosphere at the EM is subdued. Is is the same in Alex?
I am indeed - we should be able to send Fred hiding under the bed for that one.
Ramsey has a shot deflected over for a corner off a pass from Wilshere.
Taken shot to Wilshere and his cross is headed by Mustafi straight to Butland.
The Black Casts had a big win at Pride Park Friday. I'm expecting a competitive match
A cross from Nacho is headed away to Aubama, passed to Bellerin and his shot is halfway to Welwyn Garden City
Looks like Eric Pieters has a groin problem - he'll likely have to be replaced.
Clumsy by Mustafi on Martin Peters. Sorry I meant Erik Pieters.
Moritz Bauer wins a corner that started with a poor back pass from Wilshere to Shquiri, of all people.
Shawcross heads over the corner from Shaquiri
This one isn't quite the classic we'd hoped for when we woke up this morning, is it mate?
Tell Fred that he's going to have to schedule an extending grooming session for Saturday afternoon, because the Whites are going to give him a bath!
How is this for a stat? Paul Lambert has never been relegated as a manager. Will that change in the next month?
El Neny lunges in to produce the first yellow card of the afternoon from Referee Pawson.
El Neny booked for a nasty foul on Wee Joe.
Odds on that it will.
Those are fighting words, but I will pass the message on to Fred.
El Neny has a pass blocked for a corner off a pass from Ozil that all began with a Gunners break
The first half has been anything but a classic.
El Neny earns a corner but it comes to nothing as Arsenal have no aerial threat to speak of from set pieces.
Get the leash ready for Fred because the Leeds boys will be taking him for a walk!
Ramsey wins a free kick. Taken by Ozil and headed out for a corner.
LOL! That's probably the most speed the Black Cats will show all match!
Wilshere wins a free kick.
Chambers heads well over from the free kick taken by Ozil.
A Stoke attack is halted by Craig Pawson as Mustafi is down with a head injury off a collision with Ramadan Soby.
Into a minute of stoppage time, but that may be extended another minute.
It's 0-0 at the end of a really scrappy half and boos from the home fans.
The second half is underway from The EM. Can't be any worse than the first
We're underway in the second half at the Em. Let's hope we get a bit more quality. No changes as of yet. I'm surprised that Pieters has continued with his twanged groin.
Hardly any spectators have shown up for the second half kickoff.
As the coach always told me, run it off!
Elizabeth is surprised we're blogging on Easter Day. I old her I'm surprised if we're not. I explained that it's a busy footie time. She said just kidding. An April Fool's prank?
A free kick to the Potters. The free kick from Shaquiri hung up in the air and was easily dealt with. Then the Gunners concede possession and Bellerin fouls Diouf.
Arsenal really haven't gotten out of second gear all day. And Stoke don't have the quality, apart from through Shaquiri to do so.
It is an odd coincidence to have Easter Sunday on April Fool's Day. Will the Easter Bunny be playing pranks?
Shaquiri was publicly critical of his teammates lack of quality. True as it is, how does that help team spirit and confidence?
Arsenal is playing a prank. Pretending to play poor then playing well at the end and popping in with a couple of goals.
Better from the Gunners. El Neny has a close range effort blocked then Butland easily saves a long range effort from Nacho.
Diouf down again. He was injured in the first half. Berahino, scoreless in 43, about to come on for him.
The forgotten man Saido Berahino is coming on.
Alexandre Lacazette coming on as well. Both players need goals.
Surely Berahino is on to chase and harry because it''s surely not to score. Isn't he former Gunners trainee?
I was reading my favorite Sunday newspaper, which is Lacazette and read that Wellie has been subbed. He didn't play Wellie.
Berahino hasn't scored in two and a half year He's not a striker, he's on strike!
Bit of an elbow left on Lacazette there.
Boom boom!
Ozil has a pass cut out for a corner by Shawcross.
Cheers, mate. How is this one. Berahino has been lying down on the job and shooting blanks!
Glenn Johnson booked for a foul on Aubama, acting like Trump!
Ramadan Soby is set free down the left and his pass is cut out for a corner by fellow Egyptian , El Neny.
Shaquiri shoots straight at Ospina off the corner.
Bauer wins a corner off of Nacho.
OH!!!! The corner from Shaquiri went off the inside of the post! That leads to a Gunners counter that leads to a Stoke counter.
The closest anyone has come to scoring is directly from a corner. That sums it up.
If anything, Stoke look the more likely right now. Arsenal have full attentions on Thursday.
Aubama put through and his close range effort is blocked for a corner . Then Lacazette wins a corner.
Now it's Aubama streaking through, but Butland did well.
The corner from Ozil comesd off of Nacho and finds a surprised Chambers , who has the ball come off his knee and straight to Butland as he was all alone in the six yard box.
Sunshine says that Harry Kane is on the subs bench today.
PENALTY !!! OZIL IS TRIPPED IN THE BOX BY INDY 500
Beaker goes down and Pawson gives a penalty. A bit soft, eh?
Kind of soft , but looked the right call.
Aubama steps up....
Slots home easily!
1-0 Arse!
GOAL !!! AUBAMA SCORES FROM THE SPOT, SENDING BUTLAND THE WRONG WAY
Miki comes on for Wilshere.
A double substitution from Arsene. Miki for Wilshere and Xakha Khan for El Neny. Both like for like.
Typical of when a side is struggling near the bottom. Look set to gain a valuable point against the odds then undone by a late penalty that may have been soft.
Lambert should have brought on Crouch instead of Berahino. Crouch with a great scoring record and Berahino as likely to score as you or I
An attacking switch as Crouch is on for Ramadan Soby.
Xhaka comes on for El Neny and immediately sets about torturing his Swiss pal Shaquri.
Butland advances rather far out , but gets it right as he blocks from Ramsey.
Crouchie comes on and is immediately in the wars with Mustafi.
Swiss or Albanian, LOL?
Aren't they both on the Swiss team? I think it's Xhaka's brother who plays for Albania, no?
Crouchie must be wondering about the Uber driver on the pitch. Why would that be?
Oh - Butland makes two super saves in short term, one from Miki and close range and then Beaker picks out a spot and Butland tips around.
GOAL! Aubama adds a second!
Kick save by Butland from Miki off a pass from Lacaxette then Butland turns around a long range effort from ozil
GOAL !!! AUBAMA WITH HIS AND THE GUNNERS SECOND AS HE SCORES OFF THE CORNER.
Yes they are. Both of Albanian descent.
Neat finish there from Aubama, leaning away and just letting the angle push the ball to Butland's left. Rutland got a foot on it but to no avail.
PENALTY !!!! Second time in this half the Gunners get a penalty
Dear oh dear - Bruno Martins Indi has given up another pen!
If the first penalty was soft this one definitely is. Badou knocked down Lacazette.
That's very unselfish. Aubama has given up the chance of notching his hat-trick and allows goal starved Lacazette to get a rare goal.
3-0!
GOAL !!!! I WAS READING LACAZETTE AND READ THAT THE GUNNERS HAVE SCORED A PENALTY IDENTICAL TO THE FIRST AS THE GUNNERS ARE NOW THREE UP.
Indy 500 booked for a foul on Lacazette.
Now a spot of handbags. Xhaka at the center of it.
Into a trio of stoppage time minutes,.
Ever wonder about the Uber driver on the pitch?
Ospina down off a boot to the face from Crouchie. It was accidental.
That's it as the Gunners win 3-0 with all the goals late on, two of them from the spot.
That's that, then. Stoke remain mired in the bottom three.
Back from walkies with Sparky on a warm morning. Ready for the late match. Will these teams meet again next month?
Back for the big one now - should be a cracker!
Hi boys
I am here for the big one
I am in the Spurs camp today. I want Chelsea as far back as possible
Gary Lineker scored the winner for Spurs the last time they won at the Bridge
The teams now out on the pitch at Stamford Bridge:
Chelsea: Caballero; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso; Willian, Morata, Hazard. Subs: Eduardo, Cahill, Palmieri, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud.
Tottenham: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Dembele; Eriksen, Alli, Lamela; Son. Subs: Vorm, Aurier, Rose, Wanyama, Sissoko, Lucas, Kane.
Referee: Andre Marriner.
Morning, UWS - how are you, mate? Welcome!
The teams out on the pitch at the Bridge where Spurs are without a win in thirty matches . They last won here in 1990. Spurs are more likely to end their jinx than the hapless Potters.
I hope it is a cracker...just like the LA derby yesterday
Very exciting as I watched the entire second half
End to end stuff
No writhing around on the ground and time wasting
No pointless substitutions
One substitution was pretty important
Good morning, UWS. Great to enjoy the pleasure of your company.
I hope it's not a preview of the Cup Final... I want a repeat of the 76 Final!!
They're off from the Bridge.
This one is nominally 4th v. 5th, a dogfight match for that last CL spot. But in reality, with Spurs five points ahead, this is a last chance for Chelski to catch their London rivals. They must win today.
We are off
Can Spurs help out United
The top four automatically qualify for the CL next season. No qualification needed
I agree, but this one , which would be a repeat of the 1967 Final and 2008 League Cup Final is more likely. I have the same wish as you.
Looks like Chelsea, Arsenal and Burnley will make the EL next season.
Chelsea will get the league place, Arsenal will get the league spot because City won the League Cup and Burnley would get the FA Cup spot if Southampton don't win the Cup
That's right .UEFA made that rule change. A great change in my opinion
Unbelievable that Kane is on the bench today. I worry that they're rushing him back for the run-in. I'd wrap him in cotton wool for the World Cup at this stage.
What if the Arse win the EL?
That's correct. The Foxes are only three points behind Burnley, so they are in the running as well.
Again, we've played four minutes.. has the ball been in either box?
Then there would be five CL spots and only two CL spots. That's how it was done this season since United won the EL.
I remember the 96 Cup Final between Liverpool and United was lambasted for being a poor game
EVERY game is like that now
The ball has not been in the box , but Moses has hit the deck
Victor Moses receiving some treatment after Moussa Dembele landed awkwardly on him.
Glad United won the double that season, but it was a really horrible match where Calamity James gifted us the Cup.
Sunshine louder than the fans at SB!
It's all too complicated for me. I long for the days when the champions were in the European Cup, the cup winners in the Cup Winners Cup and the also rans in the UEFA Cup.
UWS may be interested to read that Pompey vs Wigan is on ESPN 3 tomorrow. Kickoff at 12:30 P.M.
Useless corner.. of course!!
A poor corner from Eriksen is headed out by the first man
My point is that the Final was just like all the modern day matches
Possession with few chances
He doesn't care for crackers. He's more into his seeds and pellets. Crackers are more popular with parakeets, I believe.
Delle Alli heads wide off a decent cross from Eriksen because he was sandwiched between two Chelsea players.
Yes. That it was and the one chance was really gifted to us.
Hell of a finish by King Eric though
UWS should sign for Stoke. Paul Lambert resorted to bringing on Berahino, scoreless in 44 matches.Surely, Dave would do better than that.
Agreed. He took that chance really well.
Good to know, MUR.
Christiansen , holding his face off a challenge from Lamela.
I play!!
I got a text from a friend today. This is what it said
"All the power and $ that the EPL has can’t that make sure Crouch gets a jersey that fits him?!?!!!"
Never thought of it but very true!!!
Do teams actually make Giraffe sizes though?
Just in case you're looking to make a comeback.
LOL!!! They should have enough in the budget for custom made sizes. Typical of Stoke's season.
Hazard was nearly in there but Sanchez did well to track back.
LLoris does well to save a deflected effort from willian on a Chelsea break
Ball in the net from Alonso but he's ruled offside. Sweet finish though.
Ball in the net... offside.
Neat finish by Alonso
mARCOS ALONSO SCORES , BUT IT'S DISALLOWED AS THE OFFSIDE FLAG IS RAISED. A LEFT FOOTED VOLLEY IN THE CORNER OFF A CROSS FROM KANTE.
Delle Alli is sandwiched by Kante, which is a free kick to the Spuds.
Free kick doesn't beat the first man... sigh!!
Wonder what Lee Chapman and Gary Lineker are discussing about the two matches.
zzzzz
Harry Kane warming up on the sideline while his teammates win a corner.
What does Sunshine think of it so far?
Hazard currently playing for Chelsea while another Hazard played for both of theses clubs in the 80s
I agree with UWS - this has been a tepid affair.
Fab plays a pass out wide to Moses and his shot is easily saved by Lloris
GOAL! My GBB Alvaro rises to nod home for the Blues!
1-0!
GOAL
Morata with a header.... Lloris came for it and didn't get it
GOAL !!!MORATA GIVES CHELSEA THE LEAD.
First decent ball in and a good finish. Football is an easy game, if given a chance.
Rudiger played a long ball wide out right to Moses and he put in a cross where Lloris was too easily out jumped by Morata , who easily headed Chelsea into the lead.
Olly Giroud is on the bench wondering why the Chelski faithful are singing his song.
To answer your question, Sunshine has been really vocal throughout the match, so he must be hopeful.
Willy Cabs comes off the worse for wear off a challenge with Eriksen, but is up and able to continue.
Olly will not be the most popular player among the visiting fans .
Hazard may play for Chelsea , but he's not the first Hazard who has.
Spurs are having difficulty getting anything going here.
That Hazard played for both of these clubs
He was a Hotspur before a Blue
Erickson tried a pop there but Willy Cabs was able to beat it down.
Willy Cabs has trouble catching a long range effort from Eriksen straight at him due to the power. He gathers at the second attempt.
Micky
Absolutely correct, UWS.
Great save by Lloris from Marcos Alonso, but Morata cannot put away the rebound. Actually cleared by Vertonghen
Marcos Alonso the third generation of Alonsos to play for the Spanish national team.
Chelski really should be two or three up. Will they regret being some wasteful?
The talk of back three are just stupid!
It really is a back five! There are two full backs or wing backs...whatever they are.. Then there are two defensive middies! They are all marking ONE OR NONE up top!!
Well in, UWS - I had forgotten about Micky Hazard.
A pair of stoppage time minutes,.
GOAL! What a goal from Christian Erickson!
Geez...the crossing is so poor!
WHAT A GOAL BY ERICKSEN!!!
GOAL !!!!ERIKSEN TIES IT UP WITH A WONDER GOAL
