Extra Early Morning Footer Action
I'm getting a taste of MUR's world this morning, as I'm up at 6am Central Standard Time to watch my Leeds boys in what promises to be a titanic struggle of good vs. evil. It's a Yorkshire Derby with real consequences for the Championship table as we're currently 2nd and the Evil Blades are currently 4th. We'll need all three points to keep up the pressure on Norwich at the top.
Later on we've got the 10am kickoffs including Man City v. Bournemouth, and then the late one between United and Southampton. By then, though, I'll be doodling down the road toward WNY and home. Join me for the early morning action, won't you?

Good morning, Bob. Welcome to my world, LOL! Looks like a cracker of a start to the day as it's a promotion six pointer Yorkie Derby between two bitter rivals.
Wahay! The link on ESPN+ has started up - good morning, everyone!
Fred is here napping, not quite as interested in a fierce Yorkie Derby.
Morning, MUR - good of you to join me. I know now how early your Saturday mornings are.
The teams now out on the pitch:
Sheffield United: Henderson, Baldock, Stevens, O’Connell, Basham, Egan, Fleck, Norwood, Duffy, Sharp, McGoldrick.
Subs: Lundstram, Coutts, Stearman, Johnson, Moore, Cranie, Washington.
Leeds United: Peacock-Farrell, Dallas, Douglas, Jansson, Cooper, Phillips, Klich, Alioski, Hernandez, Forshaw, Roofe.
Subs: Huffer, Halme, Clarke, Shackleton, Baker, Harrison, Saiz.
Nearly ready now - We're about to kick off wearing our new away kit of yellow and blue. The Evil Blades in their usual evil kit.
The're off from Bramall Lane.
COME ON LEEDS! DULL THOSE BLADES!
Leeds in their traditional away kit of yellow shirts and blue shorts.
Oh - first half chance there as the ball is swung over for Alioski who just couldn't get onto it.
The announcer stated before the match that Billy Sharp has been razor sharp with his finishing for the Blades. That's a horrible pun and in really bad taste.
Oh - there was contact there between Basham and Ali on that cross. I'm seen them given.
Billy Sharp is a rusty old blade.
End to end stuff now - this has the promise to be a cracking Championship clash.
A surprisingly Irish theme for the Blades. Nearly half the side internationals for one of the Irelands. Leeds with Dallas and BPF who represent the Ulstermen
Billy Sharp , rust and will wins a corner off of Mini Cooper.
First corner of the match goes to the Evil Blades.
OH!!!! A free header for Chris Basham, who wasn't properly marked by Kal Phillips and his header was cleared off the line by Ali.
The Second Round of the Cup started yesterday and the L1 Tangerines were held 0-0 in Morocco by National League Side, Solihull Moors.
I thought Basham was mugging Phillips there. He'll have to be watched.
Oh - McGoldrick pulls a great shot out of Peacock-Farrell, back in goal for us today.
Dave MacGoldrick has a long range effort turned around by BPF
Nearly a great fast break through Pablo and Stu.
The Blades have made the better start.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
One Cup match currently being played as it's FC Halifax Town vs the Real Dons.
Cheers, mate - we need it!
Stu Dallas picks up a very useful free kick off David McGoldrick.
I'm sure Bob will be wishing Evil Neil a Happy 70th birthday today . He can celebrate after his side's come from behind win vs Wolves yesterday.
Useless free kick from Barry Douglas - he's got to do better than that.
Unfortunately, Driven well out of play by Barry Douglas.
Looks like Mini Cooper is down. Hope he doesn't need to go to the mechanic. Leeds can ill afford that at this time.
No love for Evil Neil here. I hope that Cardiff go down this season.
Coop has a problem now; we cannot lose him now.
The replay showed it was a non contact injury. Doesn't look good at all.
It's our young Finnish recruit Aapo Halme coming on to replace Coop.
Mini Cooper driven to the tunnel and replaced by 20 year old Finn, Halme. He made his Leeds debut vs Bristol City last week. That's not idle gossip.
That's an illegal Klich by McGoldrick. Should have been at least a booking.
Nasty from McGoldrick there on Klich - should have resulted in a yellow.
Pablo Hernandez is now the Leeds captain. A great choice.
Great minds think alike.
Enda Stevens with an illegal Klich and it Enda's up in a deserved booking.
Stevens picks up a yellow finally for a foul on Klich and now we've got another tasty free kick chance.
Oh - Halme with the shot in the end and it had to be turned around by Henderson. Close call!
OH!!! A free header for Halme and turned around from Henderson off the free kick, which wasn't cleared. Corner too deep and out of play
Roofe claiming some interference on the corner there. The Evil Blades playing a very muscular match.
Both sides have chances to take the lead. So far, it;'s been an entertaining match
I thought that both Roofe and Basham were grabbing each other. Hard to call either way
Halfway through this half and this is very evenly matched.
This has been a good five or ten minutes for us. Let's make it count!
Oh - Stu fizzes a lovely cross across the area. No one there, unfortunately.
An unusual stat for Leeds this season. They have had only 36% possession this match. Your thoughts? They average 64%.
I don't like how the Evil Blades have been able to outmuscle out lot in the midfield. That has been key to our lack of possession.
Now it's Eagan into the book for a nasty one on Kemar.
Another Irish international booked for the Evil Blades as Egan joins fellow Irish international, Enda Stevens in the book. Cynical pull down of Roofe a yard outside the box.
We need to make this free kick count!
Pablo sizing it up....
Into the wall. Disappointing.
Free kick from Pablo Hernandez smacked off the noggin of Egan
Agreed, Bob. Leeds will need to match the Blades in physical play to get the three points.
I did some anoraking and discovered that Evil Blades keeper, Stephen Henderson started his career with the MUFC academy. Your thoughts?
Oh - McGoldrick blazes high, but it wouldn't have counted. Ref blew up for a foul on Peacock-Farrell.
OH!!! Leeds get away with one as a cross from Duffy was not dealt with by BPF, under pressure from Sharp and thankfully, McGoldrick blasts over from three yards out.
Evil Blades leading 2-0. In cards, not goals.
Long range effort from McGoldrick well wide.
As it was yesterday, it's 0-0 in a Cup match between a fifth tier side and a third tier side.
They can have that stat.
Roofe booked for that challenge on Eagan. Didn't see what he did wrong.
Kemar picks up a cheap yellow card there - seemed fairly innocuous.
Are those Hannuhkah cards?
Stevens should Enda up with an early bath!
Stevens flies in again. Should have been a second yellow card for him.
Stevens and Eagan make up an interesting defensive partnership for the R of I. I don't see how they're up to playing at the international level.
Not Razor Sharp as McGoldrick picked up Sharp and he heads into the ground and over from a few yards out.
Oh - big chance for Sharp. Blows it, thankfully.
The Real Dons take the lead at Halifax . First goal of the round.
A triplet of stoppage time minutes
McGoldrick wins a corner off of Phillips.
Two corners in quick succession for the Evil Blades.
Hernandez clears for another corner,. Cornmer from Norwodd fisted away by fellow Ulster teammate, BPF
Hernadez cynically fouled by one of the Baldock brothers. Should have been a Hannukah card for him
Another nasty one. Baldock should have picked up another yellow. The ref is letting a lot go.
It's 0-0 at the half of a hotly contested Yorkie Derby.
That's half-time. I'm off to get the hotel brekkies.
Real Dons one up at the half in the Cup in Halifax , West Yorkshire.
Second half underway as Leeds make their second change. Eighteen year old Academy grad, Jack Clarke , on for Ali. Was that due to injury?
Just back from brekkies to see a speculative shot from Douglas sail well over the bar.
Barry Douglas over with a long range effort.
Welcome back. How was the brekkies buffet?
Just to let you know that Bielsa made a change at the half , bring on young Jack Clarke for Ali
Corner from Norwood cleared by Special K Phillips.
The buffet was lovely - one of the reasons I like to stay at Holiday Inn Express.
Baldock with another nasty challenge, this time on Jack Clarke and a deserved card. Another early Hannukah card
Not a lot happening for our forward players.
Oh - young Clarke with a sharp shot on goal there. He must have come on at the interval for maybe Alioski?
Nice Leeds possession and Jack Clarke has a long range effort saved by the former MUFC Academy keeper.
Not the kind of Hannukah card that Clarke is looking for, surely.
Correct . He's on for Ali. NOT due to injury
LOL, mate!
MOT!
LUFC fans doing the majority of the shouting with the club's MOT song.
Ali wasn't having any joy down that left side in the first half, anyway.
OH! Great save by the former MUFC Academy keeper from Klich. Leeds starting to dominate.
Oh - Klich was in there and produced a sharp save out of Henderson.
We need to make the pressure count.
The announcer agrees with you, stating that Ali has been struggling for form
Douglas earns a corner from a speculative cross.
Barry Douglas with a free kick headed out for a corner and Pontus heads into the ground and straight to Hendo off the corner.
Pontus is penalized for shirt tugging but it was Basham who had a fistful of shirt.
Another change now for the Blades. Duffy coming on and Connor Washington, a striker coming on.
Another Northern International an attacking switch for the Evil Blades as striker, Connor Washington, on for Midfield player, Chris Duffy. Evil Blades going for the win.
Oh - great save by Peacock-Farrell with his feet.
OH!!!! Close range reflex save by BPF from McGoldrik then cleared away
Peacock-Farrell should be giving Halme a bollocking for that defensive lapse.
Evil Blades now playing with three strikers. Thought they were going to take the lead.
Evil Blades win another corner,.
Corner overcooked as BPF miss judged the flight of the ball.
This is beginning to smell like a 0-0 draw to me, but one chance could win it.
Not sure if a draw helps either side in the promotion race. Both sides need to go for it.
Oh - a drive from Stevens nearly finds the top corner! We've got to close those down.
Glad that long range effort didn't Enda up in the back of the net as it was curled not too far over the upper 90.
OH - I thought that Kemar header was going in!
OH!!! Nearly the lead for Leeds as Klich laid it off or Dallas and his cross was headed inches wide by Roofe.
Real Dons go two up at Halifax in the Cup.
Now we've got a corner chance. This one needs to go in!
Cross from Roofe headed out by Stevens then by Fleck for a corner.
Real Dons now three up at Halifax.
Klich and Clarke sound like a comedy double-act from the 70s.
Long range effort from Dallas high and wide.
LOL! Hadn't thought about it, but it does.
Both teams seem to be running out of ideas. One goal will probably decides this match
Ollie Norwood with an early Hannukah card for a nasty challenge n Forshaw.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD THANKS TO A GIFT FROM EVIL BLADES KEEPER, HENDO
YESSSS!!!!!!
The Evil Blades have pressed the self-destruct button and Pablo has tapped in!
Didn't the youngster do well to pressurize Henderson and then feed Pablo.
0-1 Whites!
A overly eager Egan with a horrible back pass and young Hendo forced into gifting young Jack Clarke.the ball and he squared it off for Pablo Hernandez to easily tap in.
Had a feeling this one would be decided by a mistake.
A Hannukah gift for you, mate, albeit a day and half early.
Ten minutes or so for us to see this one out, now. Keep the ball, lads!
A real gift there, yes. We'll take it.
That Enda Stevens's involvement as he's replaced by Marvin Johnson, not Gardens
Halme booked for a foul on Fleck. Free kick for the Evil Blades.
Leeds now top? Should be temporary as the Canaries host another South Yorkie team, Rotherham.
MOT!
Yeah - we're on top ahead of those later fixtures.
Evil Blades haven't lost at home since the opening day vs the Swans. Time to end that streak.
Norwich should make quick work of Rotherham.
AN outstretched Basham volleys over from close range
Leeds fans having a party now. This would be a precious win.
Hendo showing what he learned at the MUFC academy with a great save from Hernandez.
Connor Washington wins a corner off of Halme.
That ball went off but Blades were gifted a corner. Keep it tight!
A late, late substitution just for UWS' benefit. Pablo off and young Jamie Shackleton on for him. Ticking precious seconds off the clock.
Final roll of the dice from Bielsa and anothe teenaage Academy grad, Jamie Shackleton, on for Pablo Hernandez. Stu Dallas the third Leeds captain of the match
Four minutes of stoppage time indicated.
Bob singing about a quartet of stoppage time minutes.
Pontus gives us a corner now - intense pressure.
UWS would not have been singing in Wagner's symphony about the triple substitution in stoppage time. Never seen one of thos.
Oh - that overhead kick nearly gave me a heart attack. Saved by the crossbar.
OH!!! Connor Washington nearly tied it up as a bicycle kick came off the bar as the corner was poorly cleared
MOT!
Roofe gives the ball away by handling it. Got to keep it tight in this last minute.
Halifax with a consolation goal as they trail the Real Dons 1-3.
Pontus with a towering header away again.
Time for one last corner for the Evil Blades. Keep it out!
Roofe booked for kicking the ball away then the Evil Blades win a corner. Roofe heads away the corner
Blow up, ref!
Leeds fans partying like it's 1999
Yes! A priceless win for us in what was a promotion six-pointer at our local rivals.
He does . Leeds with a crucial 0-1 win at Bramall Lane. Top of the pops pending the Canaries vs Rotherham
Congrats, mate. Delighted for you, especially , considering the opposition.
I'm off for a shower before my long drive home. Have a great Saturday and I'll look forward to your company for the big derby day tomorrow.
Off to take Elizabeth grocery shopping ahead of the Prem matches . Will be back
Cheers, mate. Have safe trip home. Congratulations and great chatting with you. Look forward to doing the same tomorrow.
