Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

This is a critical match for both sides. Cardiff need every point to dig themselves out of the relegation ditch. Huddersfield are already down and Fulham look just about dead and buried. But Cardiff will need some results and for the likes of Southampton and Brighton to start slipping up.
Chelski can come between a point of ManYoo, Spurs and Arsenal with a win today. At least two of those teams will miss out on the CL next season.
Good morning. Here to join you for the business end of the season and my career.
Fred says the EFL Trophy Final between the Black Cats and Pompey is on Plus, kicking off at 9:30. Fred says bring it on.
Celtic leading Rangers 2-1 in the 90th minute, just three wins away from another SPL title.
Morning, MUR - how's the countdown to retirement going?
The teams gathering in the tunnel:
Cardiff City (4-3-3): Etheridge; Peltier, Morrison, Ecuele Manga, Bennett; Arter, Gunnarsson, Camarasa; Hoilett, Niasse, Murphy J. Subs: Murphy B, Ralls, Zohore, Decordova-Reid, Bacuna, Mendez-Laing, Harris.
Chelsea (a rudimentary 4-3-3): Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso; Jorginho, Kovacic, Barkley; Willian, Higuain, Pedro. Subs: Caballero, Christensen, Kante, Loftus-Cheek, Hazard, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud.
It's going agonizingly slowly but surely . Thanks for asking
Celtic win 2-1 and are three wins from clinching another SPL title.
A Sarri Chelsea lineup as he responds to a loss by naming an unchanged lineup
They're off from the Welsh Capital
And we're away in South Wales. Let's hope we get some goals.
Chelsea in a sort of all grey kit.
A relegation update, mate. The Cottagers will be relegated Tuesday with a loss at VR. Do you see them being put out of their misery Tuesday?
Jim Proudfoot and Andy Townsend the mouth pieces.
Ross Barkley goes on a solo run and has a shot blocked for a corner.
Quick start for the Chelski "blues."
Rudiger went down under a challenge from the corner. Nothing doing.
Corner cleared and a cynical foul by Jorginho on one of the Murphy twins. Somehow, he escapes a booking
Harry Arter down for Cardiff.
He's up and seems okay
Morning Boys
Kate's comment for the morning: "What's up with the orange socks?" Indeed.
Morning, UWS - how's your weekend going? Did you get the snow that we got overnight?
Good morning , UWS. Ready for the match vs Fred's team? I will congratulate the winner.
Decent hit there from wee Pedro. Just over the bar.
How much snow did you all get? it's cold and rainy today with temperatures and wind similar to when you visited. Highly unusual for March 31st
Long throw from Gunnarsson headed out then Harry Arter passes to one of the Murphy twins , who curls a decent effort wide.
I want Cardiff to go down but I definitely want them to get something from this one
Sari ignoring how well Hud Oi didf for England... he is so stubborn
Josh Murphy works his way into a good shooting opportunity. Whips it wide.
The Spuds play their first ever match in their new stadium when they host Palace on Wednesday
Who got snow?
Agreed, UWS. Want the same result and don't understand how an unchanged side is named after playing so terribly in a loss.
I think Bob did.
Long range effort from Rudiger is a typical defender's effort , threatening the corner flag more than Neil Etheridge.
Yeah - about 3 or 4 inches. Nothing for you, mate?
Just tuned in Wembley
Wembley looks great
Nothing. We had a warm day yesterday
Some rain today I think
All the Prem match Pompey and Circumstance ahead of the EFL Trophy Final. National Anthem being played
Same here. Mowed the lawn yesterday and a cold rain is watering it today
It was good for us. We always try to lay down new grass seed before the last snow. We bet on getting some later in the weekend and did the job on Friday afternoon when it was nice. Bring on the lush summer lawn!
These two could possibly meet again at Wembley in the L1 playoff Final in May
That's why I mowed yesterday, but due to the cold rain today
I'm so glad that we're back in the driver's seat for Championship promotion now. We've got seven matches to play and we just have to do better than the Blades.
Wishing both Dave and Fred good luck in the match at Wembley. Should be a cracker.
They're off from Wembley
Wembley today is great
Full House...biggest crowd in England this weekend
Two good teams
Both teams wearing traditional kits
Stadium half in blue and half in red
We are off
Both teams in their traditional kits.
Portsmouth's only change is they aren't wearing their red socks
Early chance for Sunderland
Will Grigg not quite on Fire , but the Black Cats win a corner
Jorginho finally finds his way into the ref's book. He really should have a pair and an early shower.
That must make the Black Cats the home team
Chelsea don't look impressive...favorite to be out of the top four... transfer ban... could they be in trouble?
Could the transfer ban be good for them...they could play all their youngster instead of loaning them out
JPT now called the Checker Trade trophy. Don't like those types of names.
I doubt it... I bet is is just a simple change
It does have Portsmouth written first in the score...of course that could just be alphabetical
Did it have a normal name to start?
It is just the bottom two leagues....how did Leeds ever do in this
I agree - Chelski won't be in the CL next season. They'll sack Sarri. And then the new boss has to deal with the same squad for a couple of transfer windows.
I have 25 friends in the alphabet..... I don't know wh(y)?
All of Wembley clapping in the 7th minute... the camera shows it but the commentator doesn't say anything....they are probably quickly googling why!
A couple of Leeds comments yesterday in Boston and on the BBC... they want Leeds to be in the leauge instead of Huddersfield, Fulham, Bournemouth ...
It started as the Football League Group Trophy in the early 80s , but was more of a pre season tournament at that time. George Graham's Evil Lions were the first ever winners.
Jack Baldwin chops down Omar Bogle, who made a nice solo run. Should be a booking
First time I hear the Pompey Chimes
Play up Pompey
Pompey play up
Chelsea with a free kick as well.
Chelsea free kick... Willian hits it just wide
Header from the free kick straight to Black Cats keeper, McLoughlin.
Shot from Morgan deflected just over as the Black Cats won a corner. George Honeyman shot wide off the corner.
Marcos Alonso shoots wide off a Chelsea corner.
Did you see Zidane talking about loving Pogba and coming to Real
Other managers should just shut up about other team's players
Of course, Pogba can bugger off.... very overrated in my book
The announcer said that the Black Cats last Wembley win was in 1973. Pompey's must have been in 2008.
Sunderland haven't won at the National Stadium since 1973... wonder who they beat???????? Bob.... would you happen to know.... I wonder.... hummm...can't remember... please help!!
Sorry
Agreed about Zidane. He needs to due transfer business at the end of the season
Agreed About Leeds . Are much bigger than the Terriers and the Cherries. Would bring a large following to the Prem
I will actually correct you David
Pompey made the Cup Final again in 2010 so they must have won a semi final there
David... I wonder why Bob isn't helping us out about who Sunderland beat in 1973....wonder why?
A minute of stoppage time in the Welsh Capital
Lewis Morgan shoots straight at Pompey keeper, McGilvray
Ronan Curtis drives a shot wide for Pompey
A bit of a bore, that first half. I'm off to the bog.
It's 0-0 at the half in the Welsh Capital. Same score midway through the first half ion the English Capital
Naylor fouls McGeady just outside the Pompey box after McGeady got past Thompson
Free kick from Grant Ledbitter headed out for a Black Cats corner
Good point. I forgot about that. I think Pompey defeated the Spurs in the 2010 semi. Not sure why Bob is quiet about 1973
Ronan Curtis with a trip for a Black Cats free kick
Did they beat Spurs?
You and I both stumped about Bob's lack of knowledge
Ronan Curtis with a late challenge on O'Brien about a foot outside the Pompey box. Curtis booked for that
Free kick by Grant Ledbitter headed out for a Pompey corner by Burgess
I'm ignoring that 1973 nonsense. Don't remember a thing about it.
Rocket of a volley from Lewis Morgan from the D superbly pushed away by McGilviray in the Pompey goal
I thought you knew about these footie facts. Back for some Checker Trade footie?
I think Leeds is on Plus on Saturday as they go to St.Andrews to visit one of Bob's old mates
That would be lovely - thanks for the program note, mate.
Another solo run by McGeady and this time tripped by Thompson about a yard or two behind the D.
Second half underway in Wales
Second half underway from the Welsh Capital
GOAL CAMARASA GIVES CARDIFF THE LEAD
YES.... CHELSEA LOSING
Bugger so are Pompey
We're away in the second half in Cardiff. Let's hope the second half is better.
And GOAL! Camerasa with a lovely finish!
GOAL !!!MCGEADY SCORES FROM THE FREE KICK TO GIVE THE BLACK CATS THE LEAD. TOOK A SLIGHT NICK AS IT WENT IN THE CORNER
Great goal there for the United faithful.
Is Fred celebrating?!
The Cardiff goal started from a long throw by Gunarsson headed away by Sideshow Bob back to Gunnarsson. He passed it to a teammate and that pass was diverted in first time from the edge of the box by Camarasa
He's actually napping, but surely is having sweet dreams
Sorry, Dave. Congratulations, Fred
Hazard on for Pedro. Not sure why he didn't start
Not a good score for Burnley, Southampton and Brighton
This puts Cardiff two points behind the lot
They have City midweek tho
A minute of stoppage time at Wembley
Harry Arter picks up his requisite yellow card to add to his large collection.
Half time at Wembley
Black Cats one up at the half
AM wondering if 40 points will be needed for Premier League survival this season
Liverpool beat Spurs by SEVEN today and United go into third
Of course, the Toon will win at the Emirates too
As I stated earlier , the Cottagers will be relegated Tuesday if they lose at VR
They were talking on the radio that 37 should be safe
Watford will have Wembley on their mind.... as I hope do Wolves
With the clock change, I was able to be home for matches...now I won't be home until half time
If Cardiff win this match then they may need to revise that number because Cardiff would only be two wins away from that number of points.
Bob, any news about these damn question marks!
A cheeky substitution being readied.
I'm going to have to email technical support at Blogger to see what's happening.
Not a Niasse challenge by Azpi, who is booked for cynical pull down on an attempted Cardiff break
Hope you are able to get that resolved
Wondering if that prediction was made with the assumption that Chelsea would win and that Cardiff , with a tough run schedule would pick up very few points,.
Callers on 606 were being slated for complaining about United's performance.... I was complaining... Robbie Savage...it wasn't good enough
We were sitting back and counter attacking...not well.... at OLD TRAFFORD!
There's that Cheeky substitution even though Jorginho doesn't see it that way
Cardiff very lucky there... finally hacked out
Agreed with the callers on 606
Thought that challenge from Gunnarsson would prove to be a real Hazard to Cardiff. Apparently, not
Morrison needlessly concedes a corner to Chelsea, who are needlessly offside from the short corner. A comedy of errors from both teams.
This time it's a Chelsea corner due to great defending from Morrison
Second half underway from Wembley
Former Liverpool defender , Tom Flanagan , fouls Omar Bogle, on loan from Cardiff.
I'm shocked at how anemic Chelski have been today. This is a last day of the season, nothing to play for kind of performance.
Omar Bogle wins Pompey's first corner of the match, off of O'Nye. Header from Bogle cleared off the line. I think Bogle was called for a push that allowed him to get to that header
Oh - Willian whistles a shot just wide of the mark. Close call.
shot from Willian dragged just wide
Shot from Higuain blocked by the head of Morrison for a Chelsea corner
A defeat here would leave Chelski four points adrift from United and the CL slots.
Olly on for Higuain, which has been the norm the past few matches.
Back from doing the dishes
Would love to see that, Bob. I guess a Liverpool win is helpful to United
If Liverpool don't win today, I think it is City's title
If they don't get the three points, I would mean City could lose either the Spurs match or the Manc derby and still win the title
A standing ovation for Harry Arter as he's replaced by Joe Ralls.
"We want Sarri out," the Chelski fans sing. "We want Sarri In!" the Cardiff fans sing in response. LOL!
Ten minutes to go in Cardiff...even a draw would suit United
Agreed - Liverpool need a result today or my dreams of a double will be dashed.
Gareth Evans on for Ronan Curtis , who didn't make quite the impact he was expected to.
United are off next week before the Barca game
Willian is trying to claw Chelski back into this one single-handedly. Without success.
How did United arrange that schedule?
Next weekend
Liverpool visit St Mary's on Friday
Arsenal viist Goodison on Sunday
Those are the only two of the top six to play
WOW! The Black Cats had an attendance of 46,000 for a L1 match. Talk about a loyal following
Bugger... Chelsea tie it up.... just keep it a draw then
GOAL! Azpi with a vital equalizer! Sorry, chaps.
Offside by a mile
How did the linesman not see that!!!
GOAL !!!AZPI TIES IT UP FOR CHELSEA WITH A HEADER FROM A CORNER FROM WILLIAN. WAS HE OFFSIDE?
On the replay, Azpi was miles offside. How did the linesman miss that one? Cue the calls for VAR.
Not sure who United were supposed to play on the weekend
Rudiger.... with a yellow
Chelsea getting some gifts here!
Rudiger is in trouble now - he seemed to be last man back. Yellow! Craig Pawson got that one wrong and Neil Warnock is losing his rag on the touchline.
Brett Pittman nearly ties it up for Pompey
Definitely a lucky boy and Azpi definitely offside once the corner was headed on by Marcos Alonso
VAR wasn't needed... I think the fourth official could just help!
Sari and Warnock going at it
Chelsea better not win this!!
Was the match at Molineaux originally scheduled for next weekend?
Find a man with the cross !! Bugger
Jamaal Lowe and Nathan Thompson with a close range efforts , but well off target for Pompey
I don't think so. Isn't there is a full slate of matches midweek
SEVEN added minutes and Chelsea take the lead!!
I was just about to type "If Chelski win this, there is no justice in this world."
And then that....
BUGGER! CHELSEA TAKE THE LEAD AS WE BEGIN SEVEN LUCKY STOPPAGE TIME MINUTES. a tONGUE N CHEEK STRIKE
Neil Warnock's blood pressure just went sky high. I can't wait for the post-match interview. LOL!
Just on cue, Neil is taking his blood pressure meds.
You might be right...not a full slate of matches
Just FA Cup affected ties
No . Only two on Tuesday and one or two on Wednesday. That's it for the midweek action.
Really annoying that Chelsea have all three points
Do I feel sympathy for Cardiff? I do not.
Oh - Barkley should have wrapped it up. Blasts over instead with his weaker foot.
Hopeless effort by Barkley...glad he wasn't wearing England white
Back to the goal. A short free kick was taken by Willian . Several passes later, his cross was superbly headed in by a Cheeky player
Still three minutes of stoppage time. Desmond would be a welcome visitor now.
Olly Hawkins on for Omar Bogle as Kenny Jackett makes a change
so far, this has been the joint highest scoring Prem match this weekend, tied with the match at OT yesterday
Free kick chance for Cardiff
Cardiff have one last chance from the free kick.
Not enough pace on the shot. Saved.
Cardiff free kick easily saved by the Chelsea Kepa
Last chance saloon...hope they don't chip in like Watford did
Weak effort.
Full-time: Chelski with the Great Escape there. I'm off to the shower.
Still time..... that is it... Chelsea Cheaters win
It's over at Cardiff and Neil Warnock tells his counterpart about the Sarri officiating. Lucky Chelsea escape with a 1-2 win
85,201 at Wembley today
Warnock just staring at the referees at the center circle
A record attendance for an EFL Trophy Final is this one with an attendance of 85,000. The old record was Wolves vs the Bees in 1988 with 80,800.
I would like to go to one of these fans tests
U.S. international, Lynden Gooch, has come on a s a sub for the Black Cats
One of the best names in Football s Max Power is on for Will Grigg , who wasn't quite on fire today
We should have gone to Boston Bob?
Play Up Pompey
Pompey Play Up
COME ON!!!
