Saturday is Here Again!
Morning, chaps! We have another morning of the good stuff ahead of us. We start with Palace v. Brighton at Selhurst Park. That's followed at 10am EST with Spurs v. Soton on NBC Sports Network and a slate of other Premier League and Championship fixtures, including Bristol City v. Leeds, and then finally the league leaders Man City v. Watford at the end of the morning. Join me for some Saturday fun.

Recently, the fixtures between Palace and Brighton have pretty much gone the way of the home team. Brighton have won two of the last three at the Amex, the other match being a goalless draw, while Palace have won two of the last three at Selhurst Park, the other match being a 1-1 draw. Brighton beat Palace 3-1 last December thanks to a three-goal first-half blitz, despite Shane Duffy getting himself sent off; Palace won 3-2 at Selhurst last April, all the goals coming in a wild first 34 minutes.
The teams in the tunnel now at Selhurst Park:
Crystal Palace: Guaita, Wan Bissaka, Tomkins, Dann, van Aanholt, McArthur, Milivojevic, Schlupp, Townsend, Batshuayi, Zaha.
Subs: Speroni, Ward, Meyer, Kouyate, Ayew, Benteke, Kelly.
Brighton & Hove Albion: Ryan, Montoya, Dunk, Duffy, Bernardo, Bissouma, Stephens, Propper, Knockaert, Andone, Jahanbakhsh.
Subs: Bong, Kayal, Murray, Izquierdo, March, Button, Burn.
Referee: Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire).
One late change - Andone has injured himself in the warm-up so the aged legs of Glenn Murray have been pressed into service.
Palace get us underway, wearing their usual clobber. Brighton for some reason are wearing green.
A really nasty challenge by Knockaert early on has given Craig Pawson an early decision to make. He does nothing. Later in the match, that might have been a red card. Extraordinary!
There's definitely an edge to this one right from the off.
Bissouma has made a few tasty ones as well. Brighton taking no prisoners in this one.
There really is a sensational old-school atmosphere at Selhurst, both sets of fans giving it plenty.
The last five minutes have gotten really scrappy with no real goalmouth action.
GOAL! Glenn Murray bursts through onto a long clearance and volleys it past Gaita in the Palace goal.
0-1 Seagulls!
Big shout for a penalty there as Wan-Bissaka bundles over Propper. Nothing doing from Referee Pawson.
Morning Bob,
Didn't rush around to get ready for the early one
This is a big rivalry for some reason
Eagles eat Seagulls
Good morning, Bob. Just woke up. Hope this Burg bowl is better then the one played yesterday. Or is it for the birds?
Oh - Matty Ryan just about claws away a headed effort from McArthur from a corner.
How are you mate,? Are you on spring break?
Not good news from the Championship
Sheffield United are beating Rotherham coming up to half time
They took the lead after 5 minutes AND Rotherham then had a man sent off
Morning David
Morning, guys - great to have you on board. I didn't realize that there is only 37.5 miles between Selhurst Park and the Amex. Boy, England is a small country. It's farther for me to get to Buffalo!
I'm officially on Spring Break, mate. Kate and I are off to NYC tomorrow to meet up with Kate's Mom for a few days in the Big Apple.
WBA v Ipswich is on Plus today....shame
Can't really expect Rotherham to do much today against the Blades. We'll have to win.
That should be fun... what plans do you have for NYC?
Good old Steve Coppell... A Great United #7
Ridiculous! That's 4th vs. 24th! Whereas our match at Ashton Gate is 3rd v. 6th. Which one matters more?
Totally agree
A lot of museum hopping, for sure. Kate's mom is an artsy person. We're also meeting up with some Fredonia friends who moved to that area last year.
Take a walk on the High Line.
Good morning, Dave.I'm on Spring Break too. Will just hang out and got some rest.
More pinball soccer. And most of it’s in the middle of the park, too. Not much to report, in other words. Brighton will be perfectly happy with this, of course. Selhurst is quiet by its own high standards.
That's part of the plan. I haven't been to NYC since they opened that up. Hope that the weather cooperates.
I know there's a rivalry between these too even though there not both London clubs, It was mentioned in shoot magazine while we lived at LHS. Not sure why
The weather is supposed to be great here after being unusually chilly earlier in the week.
I'll bet it's quicker to get from South London to Brighton on the train - probably half an hour - than it is for Palace fans to get to North London for a match against Arsenal or Spurs. That's probably why.
Bat Boy through , but Matty Ryan made a great close range block for a Palace corner. A pair of stoppage time minutes
Zaha and Batboy have been prolific up front in recent matches but they'll been toothless today.
That would not be surprising, Bob.
Harry Truman said that MacArthur had a shot blocked for a Palace corner.
No break for me
I have a horrible long month of March!
I had my Winter Break in February and my Spring Break at Easter time.... you guys finish much earlier than me... David...you finish for good!! Lucky Bugger!
Half time arrives at Selhurst Park, with the Seagulls 0-1 up.
Seagulls one up at the half seconds after Palace thought they should have ha d a penalty. Looks like Thomkins flopped in the box. Looked the right decision.
Second half underway
Second half underway from Selhurst Park.
Back on at Selhurst Park for the second half.
Thanks, Dave. Eleven weeks and counting when I get back. You're almost there.
These teams were partners in promotion from the Third Division in 1977 and from he Second Division in 1979.Old Spurs, mates, Alan Mullery and Terry Venables , were the managers. Does that bring back any memories?
Penalty Palace
Inside three minutes of the second half
Penalty to Palace! Townsend is brought down in the box.
PENALTY PALACE . NOT A PROPPER CHALLENGE AS TOWNSEND WAS TRIPPED. WHO ARE YOU?
Milojovic steps up and scores!
1-1!
Wind is blowing the ball off the spot... Clinical penalty
GOAL !!!! TEXTBOOK PENALTY SCORED BY LUCA MILOVOJEVIC , IN THE UPPER 90, SENDING MATTY RYAN THE WRONG WAY. NOW 1-1
His name Luka. He lives on the Second Floor. He ties it up from the Spot.
Goal about to come....I am off to the loo
I've got to run to the post office before the big one at 10am, lads. I'm off - back in a tick.
Have a great trip . I'm betting on the Eagles even though Seagulls crap all the time.
Cheers, Bob. Have a safe trip.
Of course, Bob will miss the big one of the weekend with his trip to the Big Apple.... poor planning mate!
United seem to have some players bag in contention for the team
Martial, Matic and Herrera as well as Pogba available after being suspended for the Paris Miracle
I am taking Shadow for a walk now... he is very impatient!
I'll be listening to the match on my phone
I'll be back
Have a great walkies. Sparky is asking too.
Had a trip of my own to the bog and missed naught.
Glenn Murray upends Luka Milovojevic s hard he flies up to the second floor before landing on the turf.
Evil Blades go two up vs Rotherham. Sorry, Bob.
Evil Ridsdale's lads won 0-1 at Ewood Park in a Lancs. Derby.
Glenn Murray booked for a stupid foul from behind on Milovojevic. No need for that
OH !!!! IT'S A KNOACAERT AS THE SEAGULLS TAKE THE LEAD THANKS TO A SPECTACULAR LONG RANGE EFFORT THAT CURLED IN OFF THE INSIDE OF THE POST AND IN FOR A 1-2 SEAGULLS LEAD.
That was his last contribution as he's replaced by Solly March during the month of March
A double substitution from Uncle Woy as Max Meyer is on for Townsend and Beneteke is on for MacArthur , who is relieved of his midfield command by Uncle Woy, not Truman
Glenn Murray could have been off for a second yellow because he kicked the ball away after a decision was given that wasn't to his liking
Uncle Woy and Palace will feel that they have not got the rub of the green regarding refereeing decisions.
Back to the goal that was a real Knockaert. Obi Wan Biassaka led an Eagles counter and was tackled. A Propper cross field pass found Knoackaert , Who ran Parallel to the Seagulls box and had a shot go in off the inside of the top corner of the post from a yard outside the box.
Jahanbaksh with a shot that deflects inches over the bar, but a goal kick is given. Seagulls with two goals, but yet to have a corner.
It's over at Bramall Lane and Bob will not be pleased that the Evil Blades have defeated Rotherham 2-0
PVA down off a collision with Solly March in March.
Play resumes as PVA is about to hobble back on.
Next is a return to St. Mary's for Mo Po as the saints host the Spurs while it;s the Toon vs the Toffees on CNBC
Scott Dann booked for a rash challenge on Solly March in the month of March
A barber shop quartet of stoppage time minutes.
Poor Seagulls defending, but Schlupp latches at a shot that goes over.
Bat Boy booked for some reason. Was he giving away the location of the Bat Cave?
Bernardo booked for a late challenge on Thomkins not too far from the Seagulls box.
Locadia on for Jahanbaksh seconds from the end of the match just to waste time.
Bat Boy wins a corner off a throw.
Corner headed away and it's over a s the Seagulls win 1-2 for their first double over Palace since 1984.
Off to take Sparky walkies.
Back just in time to see the Seagulls pulling off a second consecutive win.
Ironically, it's Knockaert, who might have seen his marching orders in the opening minutes of the match, with the winning goal.
Back from walk as the final whistle goes
Red Card man in the first ten seconds.... scores a worldy apparently...just seeing replay now...nice goal
Jinx
Sheffield U and Preston NE both get wins
Preston win at Ewood and United win at home to Rotherham are back into second....Leeds....it's your team
One point behind with a tough trip to Ashton Gate
Only a win will do..even with the padding of four goals to. their GD last week .... they are still SEVEN goals behind the Blades
Wonder how Southampton will play today after they looked really good at Old Trafford and truthfully deserved at least a point
Spurs were lucky to get their point vs Arsenal
Will the Saints get a much needed win to move away from the drop zone?
Will Spurs get a much needed win to keep top four on track
A loss and it could get very interesting
Big game up at Blackpool today
They are pretty close to the playoffs even after the fans boycotting their owners, the Oystons
This is their first home game since the Oystons have been kicked out
Crowds of 5,000 usually showed up to Bloomfield Road.... today 15,000 showing up
Lovely jubbley... I have Final Score going strong on BBC Red Button channel
Just had a bit of a singalong with the new Gianni Alioski song. Kate's not liking it one bit. She thinks it's sacrilege to the memory of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I disagree.
NBC saying it is a tough two game ban for MoPo
I don't think so... he was out of control at Burnley
Wish she had recorded it!
Garth Crooks and Dion Dublin in the FS studio today
In the National League, Leyton Orient beat Wrexham 1-0 in a 2n vs 1st match up....now they swap positions
After today, Spurs and Southampton won't play again for three weeks!
Both their opponents next week are busy in the Cup and then there is the international break
Before Ole got in, United had a goal difference of ZERO
Now they are +20....six behind Spurs, two to Arsenal(that could change either way tomorrow and one ahead of Chelsea
Chelsea are in sixth but with a game in hand and would go fourth just behind Spurs
It was definitely worth a few YouTube likes, for sure.
Never mind the ESPN+ bollocks, we need three points at Ashton Gate!
The Leeds side for today:
Leeds: Casilla, Alioski, Cooper, Jansson, Ayling, Phillips, Klich, Roberts, Harrison, Hernandez, Bamford. Subs: Peacock-Farrell, Douglas, Dallas, Berardi, Brown, Shackleton, Gotts.
Still no Roofe or Clarke in the set-up, sadly.
Liam Cooper will become only the 12th person in Leeds history to captain the side for 100 times. Congratulations to him.
Any guesses about the other 11?
Rumor mill says that Pep could be tempted to go to Juve over the summer... good riddance
Is he leaving because City might be in trouble
LOVE to see Pep go
Bans coming
City getting relegated!
Sorry about no Leeds coverage
Tune in Final Score...it is great coverage of everything
https://www.firstonetv.live/Live/United-Kingdom/BBC-Red-Button-118
I'd love to see Citeh relegated. And the two window ban for Chelski is welcome news as well.
I really want a West Ham v Cardiff today. I would much prefer to have Cardiff go down and not Southampton
Cardiff next five matches
West Ham, Chelsea, Man City, Burnley and Liverpool
I know they still have to go to Old Trafford too
United have some tough games but end with Cardiff and Huddersfield
I'd love to see City and Chelsea both get bans.... drop from grace.... top six is no more
I'd love to see the Bluebirds go down, as long as we don't have to play them next season. It'll be nice to switch places with Huddersfield as well. I'd like to see Fulham stay up but that's not happening.
Bolton host Millwall today... it almost wasn't played because the club couldn't afford the policing of the match
I will be watching in the match on the south coast and not up north
Newcastle are still in trouble despite their wins of late
Final Score going to all the grounds... with the radio commentators reporting
We are off at St Marys
Soton v. Spurs starting up now, with no Potch on the sidelines.
Come on, you Leeds boys!
They're off from the Saints. First. Mary's in the South then James seconds later in the Northeast
Do I want Spurs to lose?
I think they deserve a top four but if they lose..... squeaky bum time
No guesses on my Leeds trivia question, mate?
Probably, yes.
We're away at Ashton Gate - hope we have a quick start like with the last one.
I have Picture in Picture on the telly and Final Score on the computer..... boy am I spoiled
Kane with a chance...off target
Will Dele Alli change Spurs run?
Harry Kane and Not Able to score as he drags a shot wide./
Kane in again....another shank
HK has an early chance. You'd have had that one, mate. Fluffed it.
Southampton did play well at Old Trafford but they could have been three down inside the first five minutes.....then they started playing
Same again this week?
I'm guessing Billy Bremner and David Batty as two of the eleven
Cardiff take an early lead
Cardiff City take the lead vs the Hammers. Does that move them out of the drop zone?
Well done, MUR. Five of them are relatively easy and then it gets a LOT harder.
Any other guesses on the Leeds boys who've skippered the side 100 times or more?
West From one up already
Missed it
Bremner?
Hunter?
E. Gray?
F. Gray?
Strachan?
McAlister?
Jumior Hoilett with the goal, assisted by one of the Murphy twins. Cardiff in the drop zone , behind Saints on goal difference.
Boro up v Brentford
Baggies take the lead vs the Tractor Boys.
Early pressure from Bristol Titties. Not liking it.
Cherry?
Radebe?
John Charles?
Did I get any?
Alpha Romeu booked for failing to yield the right of way to Lucas Mora.
LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD!!!!!!!!!!!
Cherry and The Chief, yes. John Charles didn't stay quite long enough - he buggered off to Italy too soon.
Wahay!
Harry Kane put through and a great close range block by Angus Gunn then the rebound shot wide.
And it's that man Patrick Bamford again! He can't stop scoring right now. That's four in the last three matches.
What about my other guesses?
How about Pontus ?
I am going to google John Charles
Uh oh - Bamford was hurt in a collision whilst scoring. Down for treatment.
Bamford with the goal
Derby 1 Wednesday 0 on Saturday
Frankie Lamps lads in the lead vs Brucie's lads/.
Phew! Bamford is back in action. No lasting damage.
Congrats, Bob. An Ayling assist in his return to Ashton Gate
Scholsey's lads take the lead at the Abbey
Not good news for us with Derby leading. They're the ones I keep an eye on as they're in 7th. We're 13 points ahead of them at kickoff with 11 to play. Realistically we're probably not going to drop 13 points in 11 matches to them, so probably safe in the playoffs at this point.
Morecambe and Wise in the lead vs Forest green
Scholesey one up at the Abbey.... my family should be there
Pontus has never skippered the side - Liam Cooper has nudged him out during his time at Leeds.
John Charles... captain 121.... I now the rest of the time btw
I got quite a few
Bayern in the driver's seat , two up vs the VWs
There are still two more obvious Leeds skippers you haven't gotten yet before it gets hard.
Don't think you have to worry about the top six
You've got that wrapped up
Of course, there is still a long way to go!
TEN games.... that is how many games in qualifying for the World Cup
Everton take the lead at SJP
GOAL !!!! RICH ARLISON HEADS THE TOFFEES INTO THE LEAD AT SJP
Oh - Tyler Roberts has a real chance but hits the keeper with his effort. I'd like to see him on the scoresheet today.
I agree - I can't see us dropping to 7th at this point. We've already got seven more points now than we had at the end of last season!
Bournemouth take lead at Huddersfield
Wilson with the goal in his comeback
Did you read my long list?
Sorry. It was Calvert-Lewin with the header. Toffees throw was cleared by the Toon . Bernard passed wide left to Dogne and he found Calvert-Lewin with a free header in the six yard box.
How did the Saints survive
Almost an OG off the post
Leicester take the lead at home to Fulham
Yoshida fouls Danny Rose in the D seconds after Spurs nearly took the lead with a OG that came off of Yoshida and off the post.
Sorry, I missed the longer list. Strachan is correct. The others not. Gary Mac was close but not quite there.
Ericksen hits the bar
OH! Free kick from Eriksen off the top of the bar and over. How are Spurs not in the lead?
I think you're wrong... looking up Charles I found the list!
Huddersfield are doomed.
Maybe the site I'm looking at has it wrong.
Southend take the lead against the run of play in front of 15,000 fans
Tielemans with his first Foxes goal in Brendan Rodgers first home match in charge of the Foxes. Vardy with the assist
Fulham are also doomed - behind at Leicester already.
Wigan in the lead at the Mad Stad.
GOAL! Super Harry Kane is back! A deserved lead for Spurs.
GOAL !!!! HARRY KANE IS ABEL TO GIVE THE SPURS THE LEAD.
Kane gives Spurs the lead
Bremner 490
Cherry 223
Burden 212....never even 'eard of him
Backer 208...never even 'eard of him
McAllister 193
Ernie Hart 146...never even 'eard of him
Radebe 124
Charles 121
Holley 117..never even 'eard of him
Lovely ball in from Delle and Kane nutmegged the keeper.
Southampton aren't playing like they did last week
Great pass b y Alli....Kane should have hurt it first time
LOL! Yeah - there are a lot of them I hadn't heard of.
It came on the break. JWP had a shot blocked by Dire. It broke to Delle Alli and he sandwiched some passes with Harry Kane , who delivered the knockout blow with a nice finish past Angus Gunn
So Charles and Mac is on the list
What list did you have?
https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/captain-liam-cooper-set-to-join-the-100-club-at-leeds-united-but-who-else-is-in-it-1-9633201
The skipper gets a yellow card on his 100th match as captain. Oh well...
Things not going well for Southampton today with them losing and Cardiff winning
The one on Wikipedia - probably wrong.
Sol's lads with a real lead vs the Fake Dons
Penalty at SJP.... Pickford with rugby tackle and then saves it!
Angus Gunn tips over a long range effort punched in by Delle Alli
Useless penalty
That puts Saints back in the drop zone
Not good at all. The Saints are in real trouble.
